Goodness, what a week. =_= Coming up with a concept on the spot and assuming that I could remotely finish it on time was wishful thinking. Looks like I won't have a chance to draw the Christmas themed idea I had in mind, unfortunately. 🥲😮💨
#I've been insanely busy and have learned about a few change of plans today on top of that 🙇♀️#RIP#Not having my tablet or more than an hour of spare time to myself is exhausting#Christmas time has beaten me to a pulp this year#I'm SO tired it's ridiculous 😭#The good news though? If you’ve been around for a few years, you’ve seen me vaguely mention a “Silverborn Countdown Challenge” several times. It’s been delayed and changed as many times as the book itself, lol.
If anyone wants sort of a low-stakes, very chill and spaced out version of this ye olde never tackled challenge to complete in the next year before Silverborn, I propose what I’m doing:
Every 3 months leading up to the initial release, I am creating one thing based on each of the books.

if you're like me and decorate spookily for the winter holidays (personally i celebrate christmas): the lenox snow fantasies annual ceramic ornaments are just off-white and sculpted enough that (to me) they look like they are made of bone!
i was lucky enough to be given 3 previous years' annual ornaments secondhand and they go PERFECT on my black/spooky themed tree!!!

I actually drew a fair amount of stuff this year, so I felt like flaunting a bit and doing one of those end of year collages that everyone does around now.
Admittedly I didn't draw much that'd I'd consider super impressive (mostly simple sketches and a shitpost here and there) but considering I'm still adjusting to using CSP on my computer and my motivation to draw has been in flux all year, I'm at least willing to pat myself on the pat for posting more often and consistently compared to last year. And hey, I even did fanart stuff, which I hardly ever do!
I actually still have a some sketches and old stuff from my tablet (in various states of completion) that I wanna post sooner than later, but if time allows this upcoming year I'll have to push myself to do some more fanart and detailed pieces (and ref sheets that I keep saying I'll do but never get around to).

#was thinking about how I don’t think I’ve ever gotten exactly what I wished for for christmas growing up#like the only time I can remember is when I was 12 and my parents got me tickets to one direction#but besides that like I’ve never gotten anything I specifically asked for on my lists#so I just like stopped asking for things and would tell people to get me whatever they think I’d like#idk makes me kinda sad ;/#whew and let’s not forget the shared gifts I’d get from other family members#since me and my sister are only three years apart they’d get us one gift and the same applied for our birthdays at times too#ridículos#here’s the catch though I’ve noticed that she’d get better gifts for any occasion where gifts are a norm#bc she’s like white and my family practically praised her for just existing#I doubt it was intentional but all the colorist comments growing up really fucked with me for a bit 😅#anyways how I got from never getting what I ask for to colorism who knows#anyways just thinking bc like since I’ve turned 18 my parents stopped getting me like gifts with any effort? on Christmas Eve to day (depend#ing) they’ll tell me that my gift is a <<shopping spree>> and no it’s not an actual shopping soreee#what they mean is they want to take me to get two outfits for the workplace#like it’s nice but it’s not what I want????#so I just give up and say ok thank you so much!!!! bc I’m a people pleaser and I know they’re trying and they think they’re doing what’s#best but it’s not to me at least#and I know it sounds like I’m bratty and like what parents get their 23 y/o gifts anyways? and I should be lucky that my parents are even#caring enough for all that and that I have a good relationship with them and what not#and I should be grateful for what I have#which I am I definitely recognize all of that it’s just that like idk#I’ve never actually felt seen by anyone? like no one’s gotten me things based on what I say I like in conversation#idk if it’s just me as a person but I remember what people tell me they like and hold onto it for future reference#idk whatever it’s not a big deal I work now and make my own money I can get the things I want#sorry for ruining anyone’s holiday cheer or any good vibe#personal rant#personal

So I learned one of the clocks goes off every 15 minutes...which explains part of the cacophony of sound. Also we traded 2 fighting shrieking siblings for one little girl who as soon as I woke up talked to me nonstop until she was picked up. 😅
#mumblings#of like the lives of three or possibly four cats she has at home 😅#she's sweet but omg I realized how out of practice I am with kids who are just so awake while I'm still waking up#I also couldn't get a word in at all 😂 I tried to be a part of the conversation and learned no#she just bulldozed over any thing I tried to say so I took to just drinking coffee and nodding#I also realized it's been 7 years since I've spent Thanksgiving with this part of my family#I'd spent Thanksgiving with them every year growing up so it was fascinating to see little kids running around#and thinking of how we'd done all of that and how like my aunt and uncle have changed from when it was my cousins and I running around#because it was sports all the time on Thanskgiving and I rememeber as a kid being so bored#but we had bluey on like all day yesterday interspersed with sports#but the sports loving peeps just wandered off and watched on their phones#or how like I spent so much of my time following kids around because they were constantly getting into mischeft and thinking was I this bad#Like as a kid was I one of those that you took your eyes off of me and I was trying to eat every sweet I could reach or throwing a tantrum#because I couldn't have just chips and pie?#😂 or like you couldn't find me and I'd have toddled up somewhere I shouldn't be that's not safe?#I mean to be fair I climbed the christmas tree as a toddler/baby but still#I feel like I spent most of my time outside or like following my grandma around#because there were all these strangers I didn't know in the house#I mean I'm pretty sure the stool in the kitchen is just where I always sat because I thought then at least I'd be out of the way#and I spent most of my time trying to keep kids out of the way of moving hot dishes and pans and the like#we used to have a bazillion desserts and we did but that's because of birthdays#so we had two cakes one I made one my uncle bought and three pies#which is in thanksgiving terms rather mild#especially since one was mincemeat which I learned when my aunt makes it is just fruit drowned in booze#and I made a pumpkin pie that we put eggnog in which was fun and it's all gone and my cousin made a pecan pie#but I remember we used to have like 7 pies and a cheesecake 😂#but there used to be more people my grandmothers family and now it's just my aunt and uncles family and me#I feel like I also hated like 90% of the food as a kid but enjoy most of it now#not all of it of course but most of it#as a kid I remember finding little quiet spots to be alone or trying to find my cousins
