This whole chromosome “gotcha” bs is so silly to me.
How many people in your life have you ever gendered? Probably a lot of them, I’m gonna assume a vast majority of the ppl you’ve ever seen. Thousands, probably.
How many people have you seen the genitals of? I’m gonna go ahead and wildly guess that that’s the case for less than all the people you’ve ever called a certain gender. Probably only a tiny fraction of all the people you’ve ever mentally assigned a gender.
Now chromosomes. Of how many people have you seen the actual chromosome makeup? I’m gonna be very impressed if that even averages one person. I’ve personally never seen any live, real-time chromosomes, and I don’t think I will anytime soon.
So, how can chromosome-absolutists even call someone a man or a woman if they can’t have a peek at their chromosomes? At some point you gonna have to go off of the things you can actually see and hear, right? For example, how someone presents themselves, the clothing they wear, how they do their hair, facial hair, their voice, etc.
Almost as if presentation and perception is more relevant for determining how to gender someone and someone’s gender identity, rather than actual chromosomes.
(This doesn’t even touch on the fact that being a certain gender used to be about genitals and facial hair. Then when medical science could change that, suddenly gender was hormones. Then it was bone structure. Now medical science can alter those, suddenly it’s chromosomes. Once we can change those, it’ll be something else that will seem unchangeable at that time. Transphobes stop moving goalposts ffs challenge.)

I really hate this recent trend I’ve been seeing of ppl from the dc side of things complaining about fic writers not staying close enough to canon and trying to force (through complaining, not like Actually force lol) ppl to read some of the comics or something similar to “get a grasp on the character.” But like. I don’t like dc. I’m not going to engage with their “canon” cause I’m not interested in it. I like these fun lil scenarios where a 2000s era cartoon shows up in it. I quite literally could not care less about what is or isn’t accurate to canon (in either universe! But I haven’t seen anyone complaining about the lack of canon compliant stuff from the dp side, it’s probably happened tho). If u don’t enjoy the lil scenarios ur seeing just scroll past. “But Persephone!” I hear u say, “there’s so much of this Stuff I Don’t Like in this specific tag I peruse!!” And to that I say: so what? Ur slightly inconvenienced while looking at a bunch of stuff ppl made For Free and for fun, simply: deal. Just let ppl enjoy themselves without bringing the mood down for everyone else, u know?

ok I know third life was forever ago (or whatever) but I have seen so much art of that scene where scar is like "you may slay me and take the enchanter" so I NEED to talk about it because boy do I have feelings
Because Grian came in completely prepared to kill Scar and win this thing, and I have no doubt that if Scar had fought back Grian would have killed him because it's all about the actual winning, right?
But the thing is - Scar didn't fight back. Scar was completely prepared to just let Grian kill him, because in his eyes Grian deserved it. Grian had done so much for him to protect him and get both of them as far as they were, and so in his eyes it would only be fair that Grian got to win - after all, Scar got this far only because of Grian.
That's what made Grian hesitate - because it made him remember who he was killing. This was Scar, his best friend, the person he'd been allied with the whole series, the person he had fought to protect the entire series, and he was just sitting down and letting Grian kill him?
Grian couldn't kill him because it was Scar. If he had fought back, Grian would have killed him easily, but Scar would never have fought back, so Grian couldn't bring himself to kill him so easily.
(I mean sure Grian killed him in the end, but he made sure it was a fair fight and I'm pretty sure they only fought because the ghosts demanded it.)
Anyway, rant over.

I feel like toxicity in fandom behavior is higher than it's been in a long time thanks to a certain specific game and ugh. Pettiness, competition, 'fanon' being declared as canon, coming after people for having non-conformist takes or OCs, insecurity, inflated sense of superiority, attacks over darker/evil themes and characters, not being able to handle when someone doesn't like your most specialist guy, etc...
Just. Stop.
I bet you 99% of times that person is NOT competing with you. They don't even think about you. That person is NOT posting their opinions or works specifically to target or spite or hurt you, they just aren't. It's probably not even about you! It's okay that that someone has a different take or doesn't like your take or doesn't like your favorite character - it really is! You wouldn't cry because someone doesn't like your favorite ice cream, and you certainly wouldn't send someone hate mail over it either!
If you don't like what someone is doing in their own area of the playground, don't march over there and kick sand in their face or rip the dolls from their hands! Just ignore them! That's what blacklisting and blocking is for! If someone doesn't like your favorite ice cream flavor then that's literally a non-issue, and if someone does and you're somehow jealous or angry about it or feel only you can and you can't share, then maybe you should go to therapy or something I don't know what to tell you. And if you ARE posting hate or targeting people specifically or making fun of them for whatever petty fandom reason, how about you log off and go back to grade school where we all learned how to behave around each other like regular civilized people.
There is a living breathing person on the other side of that post and OC or whatever the fuck, so remember that! Stop letting your anxieties and insecurities speak through their posts and mouth and making it about yourself. Stop letting your inability to be 'wrong' convince you that any part of fandom/'fanon' is actual canon. Stop comparing yourself against other members of fandom and letting it spoil your experience. Stop being a petty little ant and making vague-posts and attacking people online over something that isn't even real!
Somehow this new generation of fandom just missed learning basic fandom etiquette and manners.

It honestly feels so unfair that (most) bullies just get on with their lives like nothing ever happened once they're done bullying you. And the victim is left picking up the pieces of who they once were for many years to come, never able to fully reconstruct what was broken by those people, and having to learn to live with that pain and with feeling like something was irreversibly taken from them.
Having been excluded, harassed, verbally abused, and physically assaulted throughout my entire life has left me with so much damage that I'm still not able to simply be. I can't just live my life. I have to put in a lot of work and effort with therapy to even get to a point where I could possibly work, let alone go to university.
There are more reasons for that than the bullying, but it's the biggest cause for my current state. It's my most intense trigger. It's why I have complex-PTSD and why I can't have a single day of peace. Because I've been stuck in survival mode since I can think.
And it just doesn't feel fair to me, and I'm not going to pretend like I'm not bitter about that. I'm not going to pretend like it doesn't upset me and make me angry. I'm not going to pretend like I didn't wish every day that it had been different. I'm not going to pretend like my dreams for my life and future feel unattainable now because of the bullying I had to endure.

I'm convinced people who leave their blog blank are people who just go through writer's masterlists and don't actually follow or view the rest of the blog, so they don't even see posts begging them to not be blank or explaining why.

I have mixed feelings on closed species
Well no, my feelings on closed species are a pretty solid “yeah conceptually speaking they’re pretty good! They’re not managed well a lot of the times tho.”
But I don’t know how to feel when someone criticizes them.
On the one hand a lot of the times it’s very obvious that the person complaining is doing so because closed species aren’t their cup of tea and that’s bad of them for some reason.
People will complain that they’re just too restrictive, and how they should be allowed to do art however they want!
Like yeah no shit. That’s why if you don’t like how a closed species is set up or the concept in general you just don’t participate in them?
Imagine someone doing this with like one of those month long prompt lists. Just someone raging on how dare this list force them to draw a flower today! As if it’s holding a gun to their head and not just a fun optional activity they choose to do.
Buuuuuut on the other hand, they almost are?
Many many closed species are… miss managed.
It’s very common for closed species enjoyers/makers to attack people that make ripoffs of said species. Even in cases where it wasn’t intentional or the species is something super basic.
I mean yeah sure if someone takes a closed species name, design, and lore and tries to pass it off like they made it sure, that’s rude. It’s akin to someone doing the same thing with an oc.
But if someone wants to make a robotic furry creature with a screen face they should not be harassed by pregens or however they’re spelled.
That’s a pretty broad concept. People can have similar ideas. One person can’t/shouldn’t own furry robots.
So I do get why many people have their hackles automatically raised when it comes to closed species.
idk i guess i just wished people would criticize the terrible handling rather than the whole concept
