Lolita dresses are so wild because there's basically three varieties.
Beautifully hand crafted ones with gorgeous details and a hand painted and dyed fabric, or a repurposed old dress found at a thrift store that has been embroidered by hand. This took hours, days, months to put together. You found these specific buttons that matched the exact ones in the dress at a consignment shop 2 hours away. This thing is art.
A super expensive 400 dollar dress made by a manufacturer that does not have a thing under 250, by the way you need the matching parasol and boots to complete the look, thats 300 and 600 respectively. We'll ship in 6 months.
You bought a Shein dress. Pattern is unaligned, the frills and ruffles and lace are held together by visible hot glue. the buttons do not function. It may be too big but it is also too small. This will only somehow fit a pre-pubescent kid right, and everyone else looks wrong. You look it up and its a knock off a 500 dollar dress from that one company. Its 120% polyester and has tons of loose strings. Theres a hole. You spent 100 dollars and you want to die.

This is a bit of a throw-away idea, but I can't chase it away. But I also cannot produce my vision. This vision fits no where. Anyway. The vision is goth Butterfly Girls.
Was doodling and I wound up doodling Kanao in an article of clothing I had envisioned her before when I rediscovered some old photos with a particular article of clothing I used to own (and which I must had given to my sisters at some point because I rediscovered it while visiting home and I was like, 'yeah, I still love this').
Tumblr media
It's a short sleeve black hoodie with a subtle butterfly pattern and lots of nice details like lace all over the inside of the hood and on the outside of the pockets. Yes, it even had pockets!! It was such a good, good thrift store find. A nice elegant touch of goth, but totally casual! I loved it, and Kanao would look adorable in it. But what goths would the others be? Well, if Shinobu as we know her in the majority of canon, yes, she'd pull off a fancier lolita quite nicely, but nooooo, not in this AU-which-isn't-even-a-proper-AU. If it's openly angry Shinobu who has an older sister who already dresses like an elegant goth anyway, Shinobu's going to accessorize and wear pants with so many chains that she jingles. (Did I base her outfit completely on a friend's signature look? Yes, absolutely. Also, that is the friend responsible for my having gotten into KnY. She has good taste. I also rediscovered a photo from a time she dressed me up in her usual clothes and had me pose in her posture. It was very, very odd for both of us.) She wears boots with very, very thick soles. She had hide a lot of knives in those. But did Shinobu go through a more hardcore phase with daily black lipstick and very very heavy eye makeup? Yes. Kanae teased her a little and after that Shinobu made it worse for a while, but she later toned it back down to a look that's easier to do everyday. Shinobu is no poser, she is committed. She also listens to goth music like an angry teen should. Kanae is the one who started all this. She just pulls it off with grace and looks like she's not trying very hard. Her style is long and flowy. She does tea party fashion get-togethers and stuff.
The first time Aoi tried it, it was because Kanae lent her an outfit and took her along. She liked how people appreciated the desserts she made, and she started getting creative ideas for what sorts of accessories she could make. Next thing you know, Aoi is someone who works very, very hard on each outfit and is very committed to an ideal loli-goth shape. She gets a little stressed out if the petticoats aren't working the way she envisioned. Despite all this effort, she gets embarrassed and doesn't talk much when she's dolled up. It's hard for her to walk in the shoes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the little girls? Yes, they want in on this too. Kanae would rather they be more mature before committing to a fashion scene, so they keep things simple with black dresses and tights.
Tumblr media
So you got three little Wednesday Addams, and all the boys at the hospital are kind of freaked out by them. Sumi, Naho, and Kiyo change nothing about their tastes and personalities, yet they have mastered goth. No, I will not elaborate anymore than this. No, I will never have the patience to draw the sorts of elegant goth looks I love. No, you don't get to be as cool as I was in that lacy black hoodie. (I don't either, because I don't have it anymore.)

for the lolita fashion ask: 1, 11, 19 💗
Thank you for the asks!! ૮꒰ྀི >⸝⸝⸝< ꒱ྀིა
1: how and when did you first get introduced to the fashion?
I don’t know how I first learned lolita existed- probably through anime tbh- but I remember getting into it through 2 things; I was browsing Pinterest for historical costuming ideas and I kept seeing these Rococo and Victorian dresses, except they were super short for ballgowns which really confused me (I didn’t figure out that they were lolita but I thought they were so pretty) and second- I saw a girl wearing lolita on my college campus! I wore casual jfashion at the time (Liz Lisa, etc) but even though I knew what lolita was it felt super out of reach and like something only girls in Japan could wear. But there she was, in real life! It was a magical moment. I wish I could remember what exactly she was wearing or that I’d gotten a chance to meet her again but she completely changed my life! I put two and two together and realized I could wear these Victorian-esque dresses myself 🥰
11: what's one item you have that you would never sell?
This is tough, I have a lot of things I really love… I think probably my IW Renoir OP though. It’s definitely the dress I wear the most (it layers really well with like half my closet too..) and unlike a lot of other pieces I love I wouldn’t be able to sell it for a lot of money either.
Tumblr media
Like, I would never want to sell my usakumya or my Milky Chan JSK but if I was in a bind financially they could be worth a couple hundred dollars each so if I had to it would make the most sense yknow?
I’d never want to sell my parasol either as it was a gift from my mom <3 and I have a couple vintage Gunne Sax pieces I’d never sell because with how popular the brand has gotten I’d never be able to replace them 😅 and I wear my Gunne blouses constantly too…
19: do you remember the first dress you ever saw? do you still like it?
Angelic Pretty’s Pompadour OP! I remember coming across it and not even realizing it was lolita, just thinking ‘huh someone made a version of Mme de Pompadour’s gown but they cut it so short, I wonder why’ haha. I’d love to own this dress! I’m a huge fan of the original painting and I think the color combo and design is so pretty. It would be a really nice convention/fancy tea party piece.

♡ My 2023 retrospective: egl version ♡ PART 7/9
Continues from the previous post.
After that, we went to eat lunch at a café, but before that, there was this beautiful place that looked perfect for taking pictures of my coord, but we were in a hurry, so I only took like 2 photos and this is the one that came out better even though it's funny because it's the typical bad windy photos with hair covering my face lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm sharing it because we need to remember that people online are real and ugly like us too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look how cute our old school babylitas @idonthaveaname0000 and @puredeathwish are! I love them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see, the quality of the pictures started getting better. That's because I didn't take them, a community member sent them to us after the meet. So get ready for more paintings spam!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our meet ended with this chonky rainbow cake that didn't taste like anything.
Tumblr media
November was also the month when this Axes Femme collection came out and I will absolutely have my indie brand seamstress friend make me a velveteen headbow that I can tie to my head instead of having to wear a headband. Even though I'm one of the few people that I know that doesn't actually have sensory issues, headbands are often uncomfortable, especially if you wear glasses and a ton of other hair accessories (which a lot of lolitas do), so I'm looking forward to having this little item in my wardrobe this 2024 (it's gonna match the velveteen dress that she will make me too)! Also, watching Misako's and brand lives with other people is a lot better than watching them by yourself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another thing that happened is that I sent my friend @saturnia-pyri a Moomin birthday gift that contained a book bag that she used for a fancy lolita tea party with her local comm. Even though she's italian, she lives in Ireland and is part of the irish comm, so we can't meet often. I wish I could see all my friends more easily and wear cute outfits together or just hang out casually, but it is what it is. I'm glad we can enjoy our friendship anyway even if we're apart and that she liked my present and used it in her lovely coord!

Tumblr media
December
Aaaand we finally got to the last month of this long year in review. December started with masala chai and celebration for finally becoming a licensed psychologist. I invited many friends and acquaintances, but only a few showed up. Among them were some people from my comm. I was genuinely really glad that they came, and some even brought me gifts.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we actually had two different Christmas/winter lolita meet-ups!
This is what I wore for the first one. The theme of the meet was "Christmas books/movies/media". I tried to use this Tomoyo's Atelier JSK for my first real punk coord, with my Black Peace Now jacket and actual punk bag from when I was young. My coord was also inspired by A nightmare before christmas. I'm standin with @puredeathwish here.

I love all the photos @puririna took of us! More to follow on the next post!

Okay, I'm still a little bit nostalgic, so let's go into the first six coord pictures I found on my long trip through my 2011 facebook and tumblr.
Tumblr media
This is Alice in the Ribbon Kingdom OP, which was my first main dress piece I bought. Those socks are actually gray, and those shoes are jelly peep-toe flats that were so small that my heels were hanging off the end. This is definitely the earliest coord pic I have because it was from before there was the giant mirror at the end of the hallway that everyone knows me for now.
I think everyone has a picture of their "i bought the dress and had no accessories at all" coord. This was mine. You can't see my hair but I took the neck brooch off the dress and bobby pinned it into my hair.
Coord rating: 4/10, nice dress and nothing else works, please step away from the cat litter box.
Tumblr media
I definitely wore this outfit and called it lolita. The picture I posted of it is a dead link but my friend drew Equius in the same outfit I was wearing. That's a handmade skirt and then a t-shirt with Portal and the TARDIS on it, a headbow I strip-quilted with random fabric, and then some navy blue knee socks. I do not remember the conversation that happened to make this picture happen.
Coord rating 6/10: that's not how casual lolita works but A for effort.
Tumblr media
This was my first Bodyline dress, and I'd gotten it that day, and hadn't pressed it. Those are some factory creases in there. That blouse is just a normal pointed collar blouse that I think I borrowed from my mom. Once again, we have me pinning the detachable bows into my hair. It took me years to get out of this habit. That dress was also the first lolita piece that I sold, and I wish I could get it again. I wanted a piano lolita dress from the first second I had a piano lolita dress.
Those white socks I later sewed lace to the top of, and they're still in my wardrobe and are frequently used in current coords.
I wore this to my lolita mentor's house because I was going to buy something from her. I don't remember if it was my Shirring Princess OP or if it was a blouse+petticoat+ear muff+socks combo that I later bought, but I know I was going to her house to buy something from her.
Coord rating: unable to rate because I fear the consequence of breaking eye contact with the face I'm making at the camera.
Tumblr media
And I know that because this is the Shirring Princess, socks, blouse, petticoat, and earmuff combo that I bought from my mentor. I was so lucky to have someone who was experienced in the fashion available to help me when I was new to this. She also was selling a lot of her stuff because IIRC she was in a bit of a financial pinch. It wasn't really cold enough for earmuffs but I wanted to wear them anyway because I didn't own any hair accessories at all.
Those are my Bodyline tea parties that I've currently painted gold and made into the world's most dangerous quad skates. Those
mental health discussion cw for the rest of this post.
This picture is really weird to me because it's the last picture that I uploaded online before my bipolar diagnosis. I got diagnosed with bipolar following a quite spectacular almost-term of college with an increasingly bad major depressive episode. So I look really weird to myself here, because this was the start of like, days at a time where I wasn't able to be happy and couldn't understand why. I spent this entire winter break thinking that if I could just get back to school then things would feel better, which. They didn't. I know that I bring up my mental health any time that I start talking about early lolita me, but that's because the main reason I fully committed to owning and making lolita is really connected to this major depressive episode.
I remember wearing this exact coord again at school, but I wore the socks over white tights because I had self-harm marks on my legs that I didn't want people to see.
Coord rating 8/10: It's got most of the right things but also it's basically an entire outfit I bought from someone else.
Tumblr media
So near the end of that term, I was determined to be a hazard to myself or others and was ejected from housing, which was also its own whole mess (I can tell the story of the head of housing being told to put a 20-year-old girl on suicide watch and her deciding to just leave said girl with a group of people she didn't know and tell them to watch her because head of housing decided to do something else, but we can save that for later).
Anyway, when you're super fucking depressed and your entire life has flipped upside-down and you've been massively cycling because you've got bipolar and someone's put you on SSRIs, sometimes you pick a thing to obsess over. And I picked lolita fashion. A nice lady at my church gave me huge piles of random scrap fabric, and I just started making things. I still have that blouse. It's basically a dickey with sleeves, because I ran out of fabric and decided it wouldn't matter if I only wore it under JSKs. That bodice is just elastic bobbin shirring done super close together, so it doesn't look very mainstream lolita at all. Looking at that skirt, I think I made that skirt out of the very first Scottish Games skirt that my mom made me when I was like 7.
This picture is really weird to me because I had completely forgotten about this dress ever existing until I found it earlier today. This is also one of the first selfies I can find that was in this mirror at the end of the hall. I still take pictures at this mirror.
Coord rating 6/10: not bad for a handmade coord but baby me wasn't really sure what a substyle was. If I'd tried to commit to styling it classic or something, it could probably work. Nice hat.
Tumblr media
I've mentioned this before but this picture is a big deal for me because it was taken at my job/"job", which meant I was considered stable enough that I was allowed to drive my truck again. It wasn't really a job as much as my parents church taking pity on me and allowing me to "be the receptionist" on the church secretary's day off. This was the church where as a child I was banned from talking about oreos.
I found that blouse at a thrift store and it was too small but it had a rounded collar, so it was the only black blouse that I had for probably years. I made the skirt based off the Innocent World Juno skirt without me really having an understanding of why that skirt is shaped the way it is. That hair brooch is from the Dollar Tree and I was so excited when I found it because I thought it was the most lolita thing I'd ever seen at the Dollar Tree.
At this point in time, I was making maybe one thing from my sewing stash fabric about every three or four days. The petticoat I was wearing with this was a completely new petticoat that I made out of pink organza. I'd also done a skirt completely covered in rick rack which I do not have a picture of. I was basically making things because if I stopped making things then I'd feel worse than when I was making things.
I had also stopped wearing my BtSSB dress by this point because I had some disordered eating stuff going on and the fact that the zipper was a little bit tight somehow mathed out in my head to be about worth as a human.
Coord rating 7/10: technically checks all the boxes but CAN WE PLEASE BUY SOME LACE
Tumblr media
While I was in college at that last term, I found this bodyline blouse at a record store (for some reason??), and the high waist means I could wear it with my weirdly short blouse I made. I owned three blouses at this point: this one, the too-small black one, and the long-sleeved pink one. That was my blouse collection for way too long, because I just never bought blouses. The slouch boots are an interesting addition to this. That headbow was the other Dollar Tree hair brooch that I got the same time I bought the black one.
If you've been following along you're going to notice how bad I used to be about not wearing any jewelry. I'm still pretty light on the jewelry but at least I wear it now.
I assume that the yellow thing there with the green crepe back satin ruffle is somehow related to the purple skirt with the ruffle made of the same green crepeback satin, but I have no idea what's going on with it.
I do remember taking this picture at like 2:30AM. I don't remember why I was taking this picture at like 2:30 AM. I think it's because I'd just cut my bangs and I wanted to do a whole look to show it off? I'm pretty sure this was right about when I started cutting my own bangs and just pretending it was fine however they came out. This is different from how I do it now because now I cut my own bangs and then panic when they are not fine however I tried to cut them.
Coord rating: 6/10 can we please match the shoes and headbow, but yeah I guess it checks all the boxes or something?
.
Overall analysis: Okay, so the first thing that past me needed (wardrobe terms, not in terms of psychiatric care) was to actually get way more hair accessories. All of these really show a lack of committment to my hair department. I think at the time, I really didn't know how to coordinate pink hair.
I did the same thing that I currently do, which I need to stop doing, which is buying big pieces like dresses and skirts and then just not having any blouses and headbows and socks. But this habit really, really held me back in my early lolita days.
The biggest thing for me in terms of handmade lolita was that I had a really good petticoat, and that helps make even my less good coordinates and pieces read like they're much better than they are.
That said, I was just dressing in a way that felt better than not getting dressed at all. This last picture wasn't even four months after the initial nadir of the major depressive episode, and I wasn't going to be determined to be able to go back to school for a few months after that. This was basically the only part of my life that I had complete control over and I decided that this was the thing I cared about.
Because of that, it took me a really long time to start focusing on some of the really detailed elements of lolita, making things balanced and pretty. I was basically just throwing anything that I could find together and call lolita.
Anyway, I was talking earlier about how you get good at drawing by doing a lot of sketches and not caring too hard if they're the best thing you'll ever draw? I think that's what I did in my first year of lolita. I just put things together. They weren't good. The vast majority of the pieces up there I either no longer have or no longer wear. But I figured out some stuff. Other stuff took way longer to figure out, but I did get some stuff figured out.
Anyway, to anyone who is feeling like they're not experienced in lolita, here's an entire year of me figuring stuff out. The 2013-2014 collection of lolita fashion that I have is also not great, so we can check that out if we want, too. I'm still figuring things out. I don't think I'll ever not be figuring things out.
Also here's a quick glimpse at how good cell phone cameras used to not be. (I've actually adjusted the white balance in all these, so the original pictures were worse)

I kinda want to know more about Lydia and Hazel... their names just go really well together? also lesbians? (btw what does hazel look like? lowkey want to draw her)
Okay okay okay! I haven’t finished the full concept drawing, but this is Hazel!
Tumblr media
Her hair is pastel pink, and she’s got green eyes!
Anyway, onto the headcannons!!
So Hazel!!
She’s basically the embodiment of pastel GF
Her aesthetic is a mix of harajuku, kawaiicore, Lolita, and kidcore.
She’s just,,, bubbly baby
She likes anime!
Her favorites are Sweetness and Lightning, Sailor Moon, and Ouran Highschool Hostclub!
So onto her and Lydia!
When Lydia first walked into Spanish class on her first day, she met eyes with Hazel and her heart immediately went “!!!!!!”
I guess her teacher must’ve known that Lydia would’ve liked her before she did because she was seated right next to her
They started talking, Hazel trying to explain to her what Spanish class was usually like, what the students were like, and half of Lydia listened. The other half was just straight up 💞💖💕💗💘♥️💓
Lydia got pretty settled in after about 2 or 3 weeks, and got used to how everything worked. Even then, she couldn’t get used to Hazel. Every time she saw her felt like the first time seeing her. Just pure bliss.
Little did she know, Hazel felt the same way. She just didn’t know if Lydia was The Big Gay™ or not. Oh honey.
One day, Hazel complained about how she couldn’t understand the unit and Lydia offered to help her study. Of course, they studied at Hazel’s house because they can’t exactly study at Lydia’s. (Thanks, BJ.)
After Lydia tells her parents that she’s going over to a friend’s house to study and gets permission, they head to her house.
They head inside, Lydia meets Hazel’s parents (they’re very sweet) and younger brothers Mason and Dallas (4 and 7), they head up to her room.
It’s… very pink, to say the least. Anime posters everywhere, stuffed animals on shelves, little accessories carefully put away, cartoon strawberry sheets.
It’s very… her.
And Lydia loves that.
So they get to studying, which lasts about maybe 20 minutes or half an hour before Hazel asks if she wants a snack. As a thank you for helping her, and because she wants a snack too. Lydia says “sure,” and she yeets down to the kitchen.
When she gets down, she’s gotta give herself a little pep-talk.
“Alright, Hazel. There’s a cute girl in your room. She’s helping you learn Spanish. She wants snacks, so you gotta give her snacks. Quick, what are some good study snacks? Apple slices? Panda cookies?? Iced tea???”
She does a little dance to pump herself up, punching the air dramatically and just shaking her head all around.
She brings up all of the above on a little tray.
(It’s peach iced tea, in case you guys are wondering!)
Lydia’s just kinda sitting on the bed, looking at all the stuff in the room and messing around with the hem of her skirt.
They continue studying, enjoying their snacks and drinks. Eventually, Lydia mentions the fact that her and her mom used to have little tea parties, and how she used to dress up in a little tiara and feather boa.
Hazel is about to ask her about it, when she says “You know, there are things I wish I could have told her when she was still alive…”
Hazel just. Freezes. Quick, think of words!
“Like what?”
Smooth. Real smooth.
She immediately face palms.
“Sorry, that was rude-“ “no no, it’s fine! I like talking about my mom and stuff! It helps to keep her memory alive, you know?” “I guess so…”
they sit in awkward silence.
“I kinda wish I could have came out to my mom…”
YES!! SHES GAY!! Inappropriate time to celebrate, but yes!! Gay!!
“Oh… I still haven’t really come out to my parents, if that makes you feel any better?” “Oh, what are you, if you don’t mind me asking?” “I’m bi…” “oh cool, I’m just… a plain ol lesbian.” Lydia does jazz hands for added effect.
Hazel chuckles, putting her hand on the bed. Lydia rested her hand on top of hers, smiling and blushing. Hazel put her free hand on Lydia’s cheek, and leaned in.
Lydia leaned in as well, and…
They accidentally bumped noses. Damn it.
They immediately pull away before falling into a fit of giggles and try again. It works this time.
After a little while, they clean up and put everything back. Lydia waves goodbye to Hazel and gives her a little kiss on the cheek before leaving.
When she gets home, she’s got a bounce in her step that she hadn’t had since before her mom was diagnosed.
She’s giddy, and humming as she settles in at home.
At dinner, everyone looks at each other for possible answers while Lydia is just smiling, enjoying her dinner. She’s unusually nice to Delia. Not that she hasn’t been nice to Delia since they came to terms after the wedding. But she’s… a lot nicer than she usually is. It’s sickeningly sweet.
Everyone eats in silence for a few minutes before Charles decides to break it.
“Are you alright, Lydia? You seem unusually happy. Delia, can you take her temperature?” “No no, I’m fine! Really!”
Barbra joins in from where she’s drying the dishes as Adam washes them.
“Oh, I think she has a case of the L-word!” “Lesbian!” “Juicebox, no, she means love…” “oh!! Yeah, that makes more sense.”
She doesn’t tell anyone until later at night after Charles and Delia have gone to bed. She sneaks up to the attic, and tells the Maitlands she has something important to say.
They immediately drop what they’re doing, and ask if she’s being bullied. They’ll ask BJ to help, and they’d look the other way. She laughs and says no, she’s not being bullied.
“Oh, then what is it?”
She’s quiet for a moment with a huge smile on her face before she says “I had my first kiss today!”
They’re immediately gasp and celebrate with her. Barbra and Lydia are bouncing up and down in excitement (but gently so they don’t wake the Deetz’s), Adam’s trying to give Lydia pointers on what to do on dates. She’s just happy chirping and flapping her hands.
She doesn’t tell Beetlejuice until later, and his reaction is exactly as you’d expect.
“You know if she breaks your heart, I’m gonna make her shit herself in fear, right?” “Please don’t…”
Once it’s official, they go on little dates!
To the park, ice cream shops, the mall, and to a little bakery between their houses!
They’ll usually get macaroons and a couple of cupcakes, then sit on a bench outside, holding hands and eating their snacks while just enjoying each other’s company.
Soft GFs,,,
When it comes to birthdays, anniversaries, and Valentine’s Day? They go all out.
Once, for Valentine’s Day, Hazel got Lydia a sword. A full working sword. She decorated the sheath with little bat and black cat stickers.
Lydia almost started crying, because now she could make the “is she... ya know... *sword swinging motion* a lesbian?” Joke.
(Also it’s a sick ass sword that she keeps next to her bed. So she sees it when she first wakes up and thinks of Hazel, also because she can threaten BJ with it.)
In return, Lydia made her a basket with stuffed animals, her favorite snacks, those cat ears that move with your emotions, a few pairs of fuzzy socks, and a sweater that Barbra helped her make.
She wears it all the time.
In conclusion, they’re baby!

♡52 Weeks of Lolita Questionnaire♡
In a recent Lovely Lor video, Lor answered questions from Loliprompts’ questionnaire “52 weeks of lolita”. It seems like a fun list of questions and I thought I would answer them too~ ♡
1. What is your favorite brand, and why? What’s its history? ♡  I guess my favorite brand would have to be Angelic Pretty. I love a lot of other brands, but the majority of dresses in my wish list right now are Angelic Pretty. As for their history? I don’t really know haha, I guess I should research that a bit.
2. How would you describe lolita fashion to a curious person you met in passing? ♡ I always just say I am apart of a fashion club? People don’t generally require more than that but if they did I would probably tell them that it’s an alternative fashion based on Victorian fashion and we have a fashion club and we get dressed up and meet for tea and stuff.
3. What style do you think is the most underrated, and why? ♡ qi and wa lolita. I almost never see them, or see interest in them which is a shame because there are some really beautiful dresses out there that are suited for these styles.
4. What does the phrase “lolita lifestyle” mean to you, and do you, or would you like to, adhere to it? ♡ lolita lifestyle is when you try to bring lolita or lolita-esque aesthetics into every aspect of your life. Maybe wearing lolita every or most days, and having a very “loliable” home/room. I could never be a lifestyler because I have other fashion interests. Also lolita is not appropriate at my workplace.
5. What do you think constitutes lolita etiquette or good manners? ♡ I don’t believe there is any “lolita etiquette” I think you should just be yourself. Good manner are good manners, don’t be rude to your comm members, don’t dance on the tables at a tea party. But that’s just commonsense I don’t think there is a way to behave that is lolita.
6. Does your style change with the seasons, or do you dress the same and try to bear the cold/heat? ♡ I try, but admittedly I am awful at it. I try to keep berets in the cooler months, as well as long sleeves. BUT I’m a sucker for ankle socks and I wear them all year despite the cold and I do freeze my legs off at winter meets.
7. Do you have a fashion role-model? What do you admire most about them? ♡ I actually have several! I will list them and their instagrams here: sleepyriri  - Her coords are so dreamy looking, very light floaty aesthetic which I love. She also has her own lolita brand! Le_verger_sucre - Her coords are so pink and princess-y. I find myself sharing her photos a lot. Fannyrosie - the classic lolita queen. Need I say more? Tokimeki.bunny - I love the cuteness of her coords. They always have a lot of extra elements and are so well balanced. She’s also really good at coordinating printed tights which I am awful at. Tsumikko - Lavender QUEEN! I love her use of aprons, layering, and color balancing. Very light, floaty vibes.  Milkcircus - Print QUEEN. Her use of prints and patterns absolutely inspires me. Coords are always very multi-dimensional  Cursed.Kaiser - They’re coords are honestly so cool, there’s a kind of drama in them that I really like. Darkxdelirium - She almost made me want honey cake with her impeccable coording skills.
8. What are the top 10 things you love most about lolita? Can you also compile a list of things you hate? ♡ I don’t think I can come up with 10 but I’ll do my best. ♡ Loves: The community aspect, the ability to reclaim my femininity through lolita, the creativity that goes into building coords, crafting to make one of a kind pieces, being able to feel beautiful without being “sexy”, having a hobby to focus on when I need something to escape to.
♡ Hates: Second-hand market price fluctuation, brands still releasing dresses with a max 96cm bust, buying petticoats, storing my stuff (especially purses), brands who charge astronomical prices for low quality materials (AP purses, Q-pot jewelry, etc).
9. How strict are you in applying the rules to yourself? To others? ♡  I am pretty strict on myself. For a long time I was terrified to be seen as ita. I was even afraid to wear bodyline for fear of being ”ita” even though my coord was good. These days I am less strict on myself and worry much less about these things, but I still struggle to get out of the strict mindset from time to time. others? I love experimentation even if I am afraid to do so so I am really not too strict on others, if it works, it works, and I am not going to criticize anyone.
10. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever incorporated into a coord, or the weirdest material you’ve ever worn? ♡ The weirdest thing I think I have ever worn in a coord were a pair of korilakkuma bell earrings. As you can imagine, bells on your ears? not great.
11. What’s the story behind your discovery of lolita fashion? ♡ When I was a senior in high school, a new girl started attending my school. She wore fairy kei and sweet lolita to school. We became friends through art class and eventually she ended up teaching me about the fashion. She sold me my first dress, and later my first brand piece. I am really glad to have met her and to have been exposed to lolita. You can follow her on instagram here
12. What is the one item that you’ve owned the longest? ♡ I still own my very first dress I got in 2012. Bodyline Squirrel Party. However, I am planning to sell it since I’ve worn it in everyway I can think of.
13. Do you think lolita is only about clothes, or does it also encompass a certain attitude or mindset? ♡ Lolita is about the fashion. All kinds of people are lolitas and they like it or wear it for different reasons.
14. Have you ever decorated a room or other space (car?) with lolita aesthetics in mind? ♡ My old bedroom used to be very “kawaii”. I love pink so my car stuff, my desk, as much as I can get away with, is pink.
15. Is it possible to be too obsessed with lolita? ♡ If lolita is interfering with your ability to pay your bills, or to be happy, or to focus on school or work or family then you should probably pull back. Some people do get very absorbed by things and in those cases it can become too much.
16. What are you favorite and least favorite trends? Do you think it’s important to follow them, or to do as you like regardless of them? ♡ My favorite trend ever is the chiffon half blouse. So comfortable, affordable, light, cute, and much more size inclusive. Least favorite trend? mis-matched shoes from the 2010 era. I like my shoes to get equal wear. I think these days more than ever, you can really just do whatever you want. Wear the fashion is right now is like anything goes which I think is great,
17. How do you define “lolita cosplay” and how do you feel about it? ♡ Lolita cosplay is stupid. sorry
18. Are there other fashions that you wear regularly, or are you an everyday lolita? ♡ I don't wear other street fashions anymore. I used to wear fairy kei and himekaji but these days I just dress regular outside of lolita.
19. Do you look for bargains to save as much money as possible, or are you willing to make sacrifices for high-quality products? ♡ I try to find the best prices when applicable but if I am in love with something I’ll do what I have to do.
20. When was the last time you wore lolita, and what did you do that day? If you wear it daily, when was the last time you went OTT or extra-fancy? ♡ The last time I wore lolita was in April lmao. For a virtual meet-up with my comm.
21. If you were to combine lolita fashion with an unrelated style or theme, what would your new creation be? ♡uhhhh I honestly have no idea at all.
22. What is your favorite accessory, and why is it your favorite? ♡ I have 2, 2-way bow clips from back when bodyline had a massive “sundries” section. They're no longer available and haven't been for a long time. I am really glad I got them, I wish I had bought more sundries when that section was still there.
23. What’s your favorite online lolita community or forum? Are there any that you avoid?  ♡ I don’t have a favorite tbh. I have never been on 4chan and I never will be.
24. What is your favorite theme (e.g. school loli, pirate loli, nurse loli) or motif (e.g. deer, music notes, stars/constellations)? ♡ black and gold stars! Valentines day! fruits! gingham!
25. Is there any music that you associate with lolita? ♡ orange caramel lol
26. Will you ever be too old for lolita? ♡  never
27. Do you enjoy sewing? Why or why not? ♡ I don’t know how to sew :(
28. How does your location affect your involvement in the local lolita community? Would you like to move elsewhere to be closer, or perhaps farther away? ♡ I drive about 1.5 hours for meetups because that’s the closest active comm. I do not mind so much. I’d like to maybe be closer.
29. Does your sleepwear resemble lolita at all? ♡  not at all. I sleep in oversized t-shirts
30. Can you admit to any unpopular opinions regarding lolita? ♡ I hate peeking bloomers. I’m sorry :(
31. How do you feel about Visual kei or Jrock, and do you feel it’s related to lolita, or not? ♡ Love it, and absolutely. Visual Kei is like lolitas relative.
32. Whether or not you wear them (looking at you, Ouji), do you prefer the look of skirts, JSKs, and OPs with or without prints? ♡ I like both, but these days I am appreciating non-printed items more.
33. How has your style evolved over time? ♡ It hasn't really, just gotten more refined.
34. If applicable, what other communities do you belong to? What other identities do you adopt? ♡ I’m queer, so the LGBTQ community is important to me.
35. What are your favorite shoes to wear with your style, or what’s your dream pair? ♡ I love heels. I do not like flat shoes because I like to elongate my legs. I don’t have a dream pair.
36. Would you, or have you ever, dressed your pets in lolita? ♡ lol I’d try but I don't think it would work.
37. How do you feel about people who wear lolita for Halloween? Does it depend on whether that person is already a lolita? ♡ Wearing lolita for Halloween as a lolita is fine, but wearing it as a costume is kind of meh.
38. Excluding fashion shows, what’s the most amount of outfits you’ve ever worn in a day? ♡ just 1 haha
39. What’s your worst lolita horror story? ♡  I don’t really have any. I one time went with some of my college friends to a con and I left my dorm building in full sweet early in the morning. I was afraid my dormmates would see me cause I did not want to explain but luckily no one was awake and I made it to the van unscathed.
40. Do you like sweets? If so, what’s your favorite dessert? ♡ I love angel food cake
41. Do you have any beauty products, health routines, or special diet to keep you at your best? ♡ I take co-q-10 for my eczema, I like laneige lip sleeping mask, especially in the winter.
42. What were the best and worst meetups you’ve hosted? If you haven’t hosted, would you like to someday? ♡ I wanted to host a garden meet this summer but covid ruined that. Maybe next year.
43. Who is your favorite artist? If not famous for lolita art, do you think they have lolita appeal? ♡ I love a lot of artists, some of them I think are lolita-adjacent because their style is kawaii. I’ll list some here: jisaaaa!  ubokhee MISOART_ meowwniz gojio_ hanavbara Fancy Surprise Arcade Healer Yurie Sekiya and many many more. Go stalk my following on instagram for lots of kawaii artists.
44. How do you feel about wigs? Do you wear any, or style your natural hair? ♡ I used to wear wigs, but my hair is too long now so I use my natural hair with fake bangs.
45. What’s your favorite animal motif? ♡ bears?
46. Have you ever visited a brand’s shop/boutique? If so, what was your reaction? If not, what shop would you most like to visit? ♡ I want to visit AP San Francisco
47. Do you think posting photos of your coord online is a crucial part of belonging to the community? ♡ YES, it’s how we all stay connected and inspired
48. How has the lolita community changed since you became a part of it? Where do you see lolita heading in the future in terms of community and networking? ♡ I think it’s become way more accepting and accessible. When I got into lolita there were virtually no legit resellers, the community was entirely on livejournal, buying second hand was a nightmare. Buying anything! was a nightmare. There was so much stress around looking “ita”, and the superiority of brand. These days its just not like that. So much amazing taobao brands have really helped even the field for lolita. We have so much more access to the clothes, the community, everything. It’s great. I only see it getting better as years go on.
49. What advice would you give someone who is nervous about starting lolita? Or do you think they should learn their own lessons? ♡ I think too many lolitas today rely on seasoned lolitas to tell them everything. I would say, go watch lovely lor, read @lolita-tips and look at other peoples coordinates. Lolita Tips tumblr taught me basically everything I know back in the day and it a wealth of info and concrit. Part of what makes the lolita journey so great is the research, the learning, the mistakes. You don’t wanna be like someone else, you wanna be you. So you really need to do the work yourself so you can put your personal flair into the fashion. That’s when it’s at its best.
50. What’s your dream dress/garment? Is it a faraway goal or have you obtained it? ♡ My dream dress was AP sweetie violet jsk in lavender. Which I got in 2019. My new dream dress is AP rose tea garden jsk in navy. It’ll probably be a while before I can afford to buy one.
51. How do you feel about the stereotype that lolitas are full of drama? What’s the worst drama you’ve ever witnessed or been involved in? ♡ I think any and all groups of people are bound to have drama. I don’t believe that’s specific to lolita at all. I personally have not been involved in any lolita drama.
52. Are you loyal to any particular makeup brands? ♡ I am very particular about my makeup because I do not like to use certain ingredients. I really like Pacifica. But I also like some Korean brands like The Saem, MISSHA, and TonyMoly.
This was super long but I had fun answering all the questions. Have you done this questionnaire? I’d love to see your answers~

Flufftober Day Two - Rarepair
“The Game of Attention” - Celeste x Byakuya
This was actually based off a post from @oryginaldanganronpascenarios !  I thought the post was super cute so I used it as inspiration for this ^^
----
Celestia Ludenberg was never afraid to say what she wanted; which is why it was so easy for her to ask her classmate on a date. Unfortunately for her, he was not afraid to express his shock when she did it.
“You heard me, did you not?” she cooly asked. “Surely you haven’t forgotten about our little situation from the party already.” Her thin red lips formed somewhat of a pout as she took in the affluent progeny’s expressions. Astonishment turned to a thoughtful gaze then to an annoyed yet playful smirk. That was Byakuya’s most common face, as well as the one Celeste liked the most.
“Of course I remember. Although it’s surprising for you to initiate this after your performance- or lack thereof- at that very party.” His mocking tone perturbed Celeste for only a moment.
“Are you saying I was an inefficient date, then?”
“In the most literal sense of the word, yes. You could’ve at least tried to act like you were interested in me.” His words had a slightly higher tone and more annunciation, which Celeste had determined meant that he was being untruthful. What she couldn’t figure out though was the lie in his statement.
“How do you know I wasn’t acting the whole time? Perhaps it was all part of my plan to get myself in your line of sight, so to speak.” Celeste folded her fingers under her chin, in that cute way that made the tips of Byakuya’s ears go red.
Now he was off his game. “Fine, if you’re that desperate, I shall supply you with one more date. However, if you bore me again, you’ll never have another chance.” He kicked himself for agreeing to her date with only a little persuasion. He stuck out his hand, unable to go back on his word. “Well then, shall we see where this goes?”
“I suppose it’s a date.” Celeste agreed, shaking his hand.
“Very well. I will be at your house at 6:30 pm on Thursday. Dress- normally- for a change.” The emphasis on ‘normally’ made her heart sink a little. Was her normal attire not good enough? Her sadness turned into a petty anger.
“How will you find my residency without my address? Must not have thought of that, did you?” Each word fell off her tongue like a hornet, with the intention of stinging the blonde boy every time.
He only smirked again. “157 Holbrook avenue, correct?” Celeste’s surprised face ensured that he was right. “You must’ve forgotten that I have access to school records which includes addresses and other personal information. So, Taeko, does 6: 30 work for you?” He had found himself leaning over the table to her, now only inches apart from her pale face.
“It certainly does.” Celeste remained only a little bit angry, preferring to express her anger in private.  For now though, she focused on staring into his crystal blue eyes..
The bell rang, signaling the end of lunch, and the end of this encounter.
During the rest of the day, even though it was a short meeting, Celeste could only think of the rich blonde. He had entranced her, with his intelligent words and intense stares, but every time they talked had to be some sort of game- except for the party. There, they talked like normal people, and Celeste even dropped some of her accent for him. She just wanted to spend more real time with him.
-
Tuesday passed by quickly, then Wednesday, and finally Thursday arrived. The only interactions Celeste had with Togami were glances passing through the halls, which annoyed Celeste. They had a date in a matter of hours and he pretended they were strangers. Although that was perfectly in-character for him.. Still, she huffed knowing that Byakuya would refuse to acknowledge her.
-
That night, Celeste tried to wear something less extravagant, as per Byakuya’s request. Most of her outfits were stiff and doll-like, but she found a cute black dress that was simpler than her usual ensemble but still reflected her style. She wore pink ribbons instead of white in order to match the accents on the dress, and switched our her enormous ball earrings for small music note ones. Her makeup stayed the same though, her red lipstick standing out against the pastels.
When a strong knock resounded throughout her apartment, Celeste felt unprepared. Maybe it was because Byakuya arrived a half-hour early without warning. Regardless, she happily let him in, but she was still confused and intended to get an answer.
“Is your watch broken? You should not be here for another twenty-six minutes..” Celeste questioned in the coy way she always did.
Byakuya snickered. “I discovered that the place to which I am bringing you is further away than I originally perceived. If you have a problem, however, I can certainly reschedule my evening without you.”
“Don’t bother, I am ready to leave now.” She started to walk past the man but turned on her heels to face him. “Aren’t you forgetting something?” She asked while sticking out her hand. There was no response from Byakuya, causing her to sigh. “A proper gentleman always kisses his lady on the hand before a date. You are a gentleman, aren’t you?” She smiled as her date took her hand and begrudgingly kissed it. At least she could still get what she wanted.
“My driver is waiting, come on.” Byakuya urged, opening the apartment door in order for them to leave. Celeste happily complied and they were in the long black car before the sun even began to set.
-
The driver pulled into the back of a quaint building, barely fitting into a parking spot. Byakuya hastily opened the car door for Celeste (he couldn’t risk being called un-gentlemanly in public where his image was affected), and they entered the shop. The sign out front read ‘Wakey-Wakey café’, and the inside was decorated with many pastels and lace patterns, very similar to the outfits Celeste wore other than the color scheme. It was mostly empty, allowing for them to get served immediately after sitting down.
“What a cute little café,” Celeste cooed. The instant she walked in, her mood had lifted. Byakuya felt it too, as he was less snarky already.
“Yes, I read many excellent reviews about it, which is why I brought you here. Is your tea sufficient?”
Celeste had forgotten about her royal milk tea already. She took a sip, expecting mediocre taste but it was just as good, no, better than anything she would have custom-made for her. Her face lit up at the surprising amount of quality.
In order not to blush, Byakuya in turn drank some of his coffee. It was sweeter than he preferred, but most cafés didn’t  serve strong black coffee. He still couldn’t help but look at the genuine smile on his date’s face, and he wondered why he liked it so much.
Despite his ignorance, Byakuya did notice how he had put more attention on the gothic lolita. Out of all the girls in his class, she had been the one he invited to the party, which was no coincidence. But after the party, he had been thinking about her, and noticing more of her little details. Why though? Was he not satisfied with his enormous fortune? Did he truly need a woman in his life?
“Celestia, I have one thing to ask you. Why did you ask me on another date? Don’t lie to me.”
The girl was caught off-guard by the question, but quickly responded truthfully.  “Hmm? I told you already. I wanted your attention; but it looks like I’ve already succeeded.”
She was right about stealing his attention, both her and him knew it. Byakuya knew how much he wanted to spend more time with her, even though he still wasn’t sure why. But he knew he had to capture her heart in return.
“Succeeded? Oh, it’s only just begun.”

Imagine The Bots/Cons Lolita/Kawaii Pastel, S/O Having Super Strength
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Characters For Ask:
Mtmte Cygate/Tfa Blackarachnia
~
Mtmte Cygate:
Cyclonus and Tailgate find your fashion style very unique and cute; always looking like you're ready for some kind of tea party
Tailgate envies you, well not you particularly, but more your size, because he also wants to wear cute, frilly dresses! Just think about it; you two could wear matching outfits!!
the first time you saw Cyclonus holoform, your eyes lit with stars and you had asked her if she could change her avatars outfits, because you could definitely see her pull off a gothic lolita style; it would be a cute contrast to your more pinky pastel style
Cyclonus was bashful that you had told her this, but she didn't exactly say no either!!
with your super cute, dolly appearance and equally sweet personality, most would agree that you take on the literal meaning of "don't judge a book by it's cover"
those who've tried to hurt you or significant others, quickly learned that you've got a surprising super strength in the palm of you delicate, gloved hands
Both Tailgate and Cyclonus find your ability to be just as unique as your clothing, but the two also have different ways about showing this
Tailgate’s obviously more open about it, optic visor gleaming and begging you to have a throwing competition with him to see who's got more super strength
Cyclonus, while more reserved in his amazement about your super power, is also having a spark attack, because frag now he's got two small, marshmallow appearing s/o's who can play catch with the Rod Pod, and Primus help him there's so much that could go wrong!
even with your super strength, don't think for a second that either of the two mechs won't be just as protective of you as before; Cyclonus and Tailgate will recognize your ability to stand up for yourself, but they will also still be there to protect you like loving conjux's should
Tfa Blackarachnia:
Blackarachnia tells you that it looks like a candy shop threw up on your clothing, but secretly she finds your kawaii pastel outfits very cute much to her own surprise
on anyone else, she would honestly hate it, but with you, you make her think of a small doll, her small doll, and she can't help but love it
you know this, because she'll secretly go out and steal you cute overalls, shirts, skirts, etc, and they'll suddenly be hung up your closet the next morning like you wouldn't notice the new additions to your wardrobe
even though Blackarachnia will make comments like she dislikes your fashion style(even though she doesn't), if anyone even gives you the wrong look about what your wearing she won't give them the chance to regret doing so
if you even suggest that she'd look good in a lighter paint job, she'll laugh; thanks hun, but she'll stick to her darker theme colors, a pink spider isn't exactly threatening
Blackarachnia has always been protective of you, but when you two finally became a thing, she became even more protective
it's hard for her to trust people, and it took a long time for you both to be just friends, so your damn right she'll always be there for her s/o, especially when their Easter colored outfits make them even more weak and tempting to squash to other, much bigger Cons
the spider lady finds out about your super strength when Sentinel get's the drop on her, ready to eradicate her once and for all only to suddenly be thrown half way across the room
you can only imagine his utter horror when he realizes it was a meek, little, pastelly colored human that put some new dents in his armor
he doesn't even utter a word, when you lift a giant boulder and threaten his life for nearly killing your girlfriend, and speeds away with new found fright in his optics
Blackarachnia is very thankful for you saving her life, but also scolds you for putting yourself in harms way; really she's just super worried and scared that something could have happened to you
while she find's it a bit odd that you've got this unique ability, she also finds it kind of funny due to the fact that you're also this very sweet natured, soft clothed human
either way she's still just as protective of you as before, even if you can defend her and yourself, not only because your her s/o, but Sentinel's a fear driven idiot who's probably put you at the top of his organic hate list right beside her, and she'll be damned if she allows him to lay a single digit on you
~xXx~

Long lolita post under, please excuse any typos. Still waking up -_-.
I feel like the reason it took me so long to finally be comfortable with leaving lolita was bc every time I would work myself up to do it and sell things, I’d be hit with this wave of regret that part of my identity would be gone or my lolita friends wouldn’t accept me anymore. But finally kind of stepping back, realizing my friends who really care are still going to be my friends, and accepting that it’s just not for me anymore really helped. I sold my dream dress to a girl for whom it was also /her/ dream dress. I had written her a little note when I sent it, and she messaged me a really sweet reply - it was nice.
Like, when I first got into lolita, it just felt like the natural progression of my style. I was super excited about it and was having a lot of fun. But over time, it became so obsessive to me. I would spend hours scouring lolita sales or reading cgl. I was getting so stressed out about if I would be perceived as a good lolita. How I looked, how I came across to other people personality-wise (I’m a loud, sometimes vulgar person. My voice carries. Not really the image most people have when they think of lolitas). I was always worried about money. Like, it should probably go without saying, but if you are prioritizing luxury items over nutritious food and shit, there’s probably a problem. I’d seen girls put themselves in massive debt over lolita (which, thankfully, I never did that out of fear, but still. I understand that desire to want to keep up and whatnot). After a few years, it wasn’t fun for me anymore.
I think leaving was a good decision for me. And it’s weird. There was kind of a day where I was like. You know, I’m really not into this anymore. I’m only still here because of my friends and the fear of losing them. I don’t enjoy tea parties like I did in the beginning. I don’t really give a shit about brand appearances at cons anymore. Mentoring new lolitas tires me out now. I don’t feel physically comfortable wearing the clothing because they’re tight and overly feminine for me and it just doesn’t feel right anymore. I’m tired of going out in lolita only to be stopped twenty times by strangers while I just want to shop or whatever (and I get that’s obviously a thing that happens with alt fashion in general, but being asked if you’re in a play constantly or having a line of people form to take photos wears on you after a while). I don’t even really want people to know of me as a lolita anymore.
I was actually starting to feel embarrassment over it all. Like I’d wasted so much time (and I mean, I know I didn’t. I still love seeing pics of my friends and myself at meets and seeing old coord pics). I’m just saying...I’d known I’d wanted to leave for a while. So when the day finally came that I was like “fuck it”, I just went with it. I finally was able to move on without that massive fear of regret. And guess what? My good friends are still there - it was a fear I should have never had lol. And really, if friends are only your friends because of the clothing you wear, what is the point?
Anyway, I feel mentally healthier after making that decision, too. That money fear isn’t as prominent now. The impulsive tendency to buy things I don’t really need has subsided. I feel more comfortable in what I’m choosing to wear now. I’m focusing on aspects of myself that aren’t related to obsessing over what I’m wearing or how I’ll be perceived by other lolitas.
It’s weird. I know that for some people lolita really helps them be more creative and inspired. But for me, it honestly stifled my creativity. Like, I’ve always really loved clothes and putting outfits together, but it felt more natural for me before I got into lolita. Maybe because I could make my own rules (bc lolita does have rules, and I mean, that’s fine - there are certain things about lolita that make it uniquely what it is and that’s that). Idk. I wish I could have been one of those people who could use it as a medium for their art but instead, it just made me an obsessive, nasty person. But...it’s okay. And I still will follow people who inspired me as a lolita and admire them.
A lot of people always say that lolita is “just clothes” but once you’re in that subculture it becomes very obvious that that isn’t the case for many lolitas (maybe even the majority). It is a big part of their identity. And I think when any sort of superficial thing becomes a major part of you you might start to have problems. And I guess that’s what happened to me.
Who is to say I’d never go back, because honestly, I’m not sure. Maybe someday I will get into it again and do it differently. But for now I just want to enjoy what I’m doing now. I am having a good time.
Sorry this got long and rambly - I’m still waking up, but idk. I needed to write out my thoughts. I have more thoughts but maybe they’re for another post.

∼Eternal Twilight∼ Saturday September 15th 2018
Tickets sales for Eternal Twilight started at 3:00 pm on April 8th. Long before 3:01, VIP tickets were sold out. I could only manage to buy a Regular ticket. Luckily, in July Mana decided to offer upgrade tickets and I was able to also buy the Meet & Greet. Back in April, I had not yet decided to go to Helsinki. I knew DSVI would be very expensive, but once I learned Mana and KAMIJO would be in Helsinki on the same day, I had no choice. I expected surprises, and I was right.
On September 15th at 9:00 am I walked to Gloria with my friends, who patiently remained in line all day for KAMIJO’s concert. Around noon, I left for Paasitorni Congress Center and the magic started. The location was beautiful: huge, elegant, with big stairs and tall ceilings. VIP were already there and I waited for my turn with my new friend Nami.
Once Regular tickets holders were let in, I noticed the stage, the blue catwalk and the several exhibitors desks. Surprisingly VIP tickets holders had decided to sit in front of the catwalk and not under the stage. I could not believe it. So Nami suggested to immediately take those empty seats. We ended up just in front of the four chairs for the guests.
The room was getting crowded, everybody was wearing incredible outfits. It felt like a movie set or a star wars summit (some Lolitas were rather exotic). The Lolita Tea Party in Milan (2013) and Eternal Twilight in Helsinki (2018) will always remain my best Lolita memories.
Once all the participants had arrived, the presenter walked the stage and the event begun. Mana was invited onstage. He wasn’t backstage, he entered from the back of the room like a God or a Goddess, you choose. He was wearing the new green blouse and very high platform shoes. I could not believe how often I had seen him this year. He walked past us and sat onstage. He was joined by a lady from Hellocon and a lady from Moi Meme Moitié. One chair had remained empty, but even “I” had no idea about what was going to happen. DSVI had let me hopeless about any public interaction between Mana and KAMIJO. The presenter announced the Q&A and she said that, for the occasion, a special Guests would join the stage to be Mana’s voice for the day. She then said KAMIJO’s name. Even then I wasn’t sure I had heard it right. It was only when I noticed his blond hair approaching behind the Lolitas that my brain processed what was really happening. I started screaming, just as the rest of the audience. KAMIJO was warmly welcomed by everyone. I turned towards Mana and bowed to thank him. He was looking my way and he noticed I was on top of the world. I certainly didn’t expect it. I texted my friends at Gloria “He’s here!”.
KAMIJO set next to Mana and they both seemed perfectly at ease. Occasionally speaking in each others ears. The Hellocon lady started making questions to Mana in English, the Moi Meme Moitié lady whisper them to Mana, to which he responded by whispering in KAMIJO’s ear, then KAMIJO would tell the answer in Japanese and the Moi Meme Moitié lady translated it into English. Mana was asked more or less 30 questions and more came in the second Q&A that took place after the Moi Meme Moitié’s fashion show. I only remember 23 of them though. Too much excitement affected my memory. If you are interested, you can find them below. All participants had been asked to submit questions for the Q&A. I was very happy to find out Hellocon had selected 4 of my questions (14, 16, 21!!, 22)
What inspired you to start Moi Meme Moitie? He basically said he had noticed that the Lolita scene in Japan had many different styles except a darker and gothic version, so he came up with the idea of creating Gothic Lolita style. He found great inspiration in Gothic architecture.
Why is blue your favorite color? He said that when he was a child he has a blue snoopy blanked and, as he liked that blanked a lot, blu became his favorite color.
What is your favorite flower? Cherry blossom.
What is your favorite country? He luckily (and wisely) replied Japan. It could be absolutely true though.
Do you prefer rainy weather or sunny weather? Sunny weather because on sunny days it is possible to walk and enjoy nature, take walks in the park…
What is your favorite season? Summer.
Is there a country you would like to visit? He said Greece, because of the beautiful sea landscapes, even though he does not swim.
Do you prefer coffee or tea? Coffee, from expresso machines, as the one he has at home.
What is your favorite type of bird? Planes, though I am scared to fly.
What is your favorite animal? Hattiwatters from Moomins.
If you could have a super power what would it to be? See spirits. I have never seen one and I wish I could.
What is your favorite food? Okonomiyaki (I am not sure of this answer. Can anyone confirm this?)
What is your favorite fruit? Pineapple.
What is your favorite book or what do you like to read? Scientific readings, especially about planes, and cookbooks.
Have you ever had a pet? I am not good in taking care of animals, but I once had fishes and enjoyed watching them.
What is your favorite pastime when you have free time? Go to shrines and wash my hands in the (dragon?) fountains. It makes me feel great.
If you could go back in time in which era would you like to go? My late childhood/early adolescence. He mentioned games, ruffles and candies. He said it was a very happy and peaceful moment in his life and largely misses it.
What is your favorite Lolita item? Crosses necklaces.
Is there any chance for a new picture book such as (I’m sorry I don’t remember that name, could have been Bara No Rondo, Livre Ros’e Blanche, Bara No Higeki, Merveilles or Philosophy)? Maybe.
And now, the spicy moments…
20. You have accomplished a lot with your fashion brand. What could be the next step for Moi Meme Moitié? Mana whispered to KAMIJO’s ear and KAMIJO said “Really?!”, sounding shocked and surprised. It turned out the answer was: “Lingerie”. I applauded enthusiastically and made sure Mana noticed. How could I not want to wear Lingerie designed or approved by Mana?!
21. What’s your favorite place in Japan? Again, Mana whispered to KAMIJO’s ear and he replied in English with a super sexy voice “My bed!”. I thought I would faint. Of course he meant his own bed, but the double meaning implied was powerful (as they had skipped the regular process of waiting for the translator to answer). Some girls in the back giggled. I though it was really nice. A bit of humor and naughty jokes felt good. An informal moment out of the cages of cautious schemes.
22. What is your biggest dream? Moi Dix Mois World Tour (how can this be if he hates flying?)
23. What is your favorite drink? (And here we go with the most shocking reply of the day). I thought he would say Jack Daniels. Instead he replied “Pineapple juice”. Another innocent answer? I wanted to disappear from the face of the Earth.
After the Q&A KAMIJO kneeled in front of Mana and left the venue to reach Gloria. I could not stop but wondering whether Mana would make a surprise appearance during KAMIJO’s concert that night. Unfortunately he didn’t.
However, the two of them looked very close and amused, exactly the opposite of what they looked like at DSVI. I wish I knew why. Is it really so mind bothering to them the idea of playing together? Why? Is this really the last frontier now?

Moi Meme Moitié fashion show followed. I loved it. I counted at least 30 girls. They walked the stage in couples. The couples were selected in such a way that each girl would have the same height. Some held hands. They all looked like goth sisters, very powerful. The soundtrack included a different Moi Dix Mois song for each couple. I lost contact with reality.
After MmM fashion show, there was a second Q&A to Mana. This time he would not need a voice, because he would draw the answers on a piece of paper. The audience was asked to guess his replies and after that he would show his drawings. I enjoyed a lot this part of the event. It felt informal and funny. Very useful to learn something more about Mana. Concerts are great but they leave short room for surprises nowadays. The double Q&A was pure fun. I am so glad the organizers came up with this idea.
After the second Q&A we could enjoy the second fashion show with many different Lolita brands (I do declare, AliceHolic, Puvithel and probably others I can’t recall now), and I must say I deeply enjoyed this one as well. The outfits were stunning and the soundtrack very inspiring (Cosmic Storm by A. Himitsu).
In between all these incredible moments, we had time to visit the exhibitors desks and buy lolita items. I wish the day would never come to an end, but in a while we would be in line for Mana’s Meet & Greet, just before rushing to Gloria for Kamijo’s Meet & Greet, Concert and Checki. Doesn’t this sound too much for a human being to endure in a single day?
When it was my turn, I entered the room where Mana was waiting. My 3rd Meet & Greet with God. I handed him my present and thanked him for DSVI. I was so grateful: he had invited KAMIJO as vocalist, he had cross-dressed and let his beautiful black hair down, all things I had hoped for. I was relaxed until he shook my hands twice and so firmly, with both hands that I started to panic. He was staring and I could tell he realized I took part to almost each event he had organized this year, even thought they were so far away from home. Or at least, this is the impression I got. But as I said before, these kind of days make you lose contact with reality. So I happily walked away with the red rose he gave me.
The best thing about DSVI and Eternal Twilight is that now (new) KAMIJO’s fans know something very important about him: who his Master is.

MC who loves Lolita and always wears it (with the picture of her favorite dress? Only if you want to) What would RFA+V+Saeran's reaction be to dis adorable MC
٩(•̤̀ᵕ•̤́๑)ᵒᵏᵎᵎᵎᵎ In middle school I used to learn a lot about the Lolita styles, but since that was years ago, I’m using This Guide to help me brush up. Each style I’m referencing has a image on that blog by an artist that goes by Tophatcats, and they did a great job! You can also find that each style (Except ero style) has a tag on there with many pictures for reference! I…I can’t really choose a favorite. (ಥ﹏ಥ)
Zen
- At the RFA party it wasn’t really…appropriate to wear lolita, but you sure as hell tried a quieter version of what you usually wore
- So Zen’s shock of your full blown Ero lolita outfit was slightly expected.
- “Whoa! Mc, you’re so dressed up. I-I mean you look amazing, but whoa!”
- You just chuckled a bit and explained that you usually dressed like this, you even pulled up a few good selfies on your phone to show some examples
- The little coffee date slowly turned into a brief explanation of lolita and a long Q&A session
- But, honestly, he didn’t mind it! He’d want to try and have his outfits go along with yours at times (If he knew ahead of time what you were going to wear), and he loved how cute you looked
- Granted, with the name ‘Ero Lolita’ he expected some scandalous outfits, but he was happy they weren’t too bad at all
- Still didn’t mean he didn’t find you sexy in them of course, but he wasn’t too worried about others trying to paw at you
- Getting ready with him would be a breeze because you both took so long. You wouldn’t have to worry about him nagging or being upset with how long it took you to get everything perfect
- I mean. He was exactly the same, except his clothes might be slightly easier to put on than yours
- (He was a fast learner on how to take them off, tho ;) )
Jumin
- Okay, so you did rush to his apartment when the RFA group wanted you to. You swear. You just needed to make sure you looked decent, that your make-up wasn’t messed up… You needed to look! Your! Best!
- As soon as you walked in his jaw nearly dropped
- He wanted to treat you like a princess, but he had no idea you dressed as one
- (This…Explained a lot of things)
- After a few days stay (You making sure if he washed your clothes they were not to be ruined whatsoever) he slowly asked you what on earth you were wearing
- He wasn’t used to seeing such a different way of fashion, and you happily answered his questions about the Hime lolita style
- From that point on, he didn’t mind helping you afford/buy the high-end brand pieces you liked, and he offered to give his opinion whenever you needed it
- He secretly loved the fact that you dressed exactly how he wanted to treat you
- He’d try his best to surprise you with expensive jewelry to go along with your outfits (especially tiaras)
- The only time he wouldn’t enjoy it so much would be when he was trying to take it off of you. If he so much as popped a stitch on it you gave him a yelp and a stern slap on the arm.
Yoosung
- Your style was easier to get away with, and Yoosung not knowing much about fashion probably would think it was just a prettier way to dress
- Casual lolita was your style, due to you being young and broke….Much like Yoosung orz
- Even though it was a bit casual, he did take notice of how you didn’t just throw things on like he did (gdi yoosung), and seemed to take a bit to get ready. Was this just how girls were?
- One day you took him shopping with you. Mainly to get him a few more shirts (He had like five), and a few more pieces for your cords. When you kept rejecting some outfits, even though he said you looked great in them, he asked what exactly you were looking for
- When you say something to go with your cords, that’s when the full blown Q&A session through several, several, stores started
- He was interested, only slightly understood it, but didn’t mind because you looked so cute and pretty to him.
- So what if you took a bit long to get ready? He’d make sure he looked good enough to be beside you during that time!
Seven
- He nearly spat out his soda when you popped up on the CCTV screen in full blown Sweet lolita!
- You didn’t look bad, not at all, but dear god you were going to hate being stuck in the apartment with hardly any clothes
- He may tease you in a few phone calls, like he does everyone, but you looked so cute
- In person he gave you a big hug and made way too many variations of jokes along the lines of “You’re so cute I could eat you right up!”
- Sure, it was difficult to laze around with you at times- Once he cuddled too much with you on the couch and his hair managed to get stuck in a hair clip of yours.
- Otherwise, he was your personal hype man!
- He’d look up different styles of the Sweet lolita, watch you put on your make-up, love the new cords you made
- Sometimes he’d even want you to dress him up in your style!
- (He would want you to make a HBC themed cord tho. Come on, you know he’d love you in it, or love wearing it)
Jaehee
- She Loved It
- The way you dressed fit in with the cafe theme- A simple Classic style lolita.
- She didn’t understand it at first. Instead of bothering you with questions, she did her own research on it. Once she found out, she’d be very supportive
-I mean, you looked so cute? How could she not??
- Once in a blue moon she’d let you dress her up in a cord of yours, but she’d need so much prompting to go outside. She’d feel so out of place
- She wouldn’t mind making coffee/tea and sweets for any lolita meet-ups though. She loved seeing all the different styles, and how your planned new cords
V
- His eyesight was a bit bad, everyone knew this, but when he saw a big black blob from far away he was a little worried
- When you were up close and he was able to see you a bit better, he felt his heart flutter a bit. You looked like an old gothtic doll!
-He wasn't used to the style, not at all, but he loved finding places to help compliment outfit pictures
-He's more of a nature guy, so he would be able to help you the most during the winter for the best backgrounds
-Otherwise he thought you were so pretty! Like a living doll. He loved taking pictures of you, and once his eyesight was better, he loved studying the different patterns you had
-If possible, he'd see if you were willing to try different styles for photo sets he wanted to take with you
Saeran
-When he first saw you, he didn't know how to react
-You were so cute! He wasn't supposed have feelings for people... But here he was, trying not to stumble over his words
-You almost dressed like him, but...Fancier? He was a bit confused, but looking it up he found out you were dressing as a Punk Lolita?
-He didn't really get it, but you were so pretty he didn't mind.
-He loved watching you get ready, making small little make up suggestions
-Sometimes if he thought one of his studded wristbands or chokers would go with your outfit, he'd wordlessly put them on you
-All in all, he absolutely loved it and loved seeing each new cord you put together.
