tbh i do get a little bothered by the notion that tim took the first shot he had to drop out of school because he hated school and didnt wanna do it and all of that bc i feel like it ignores the probably very important context that he dropped out after his dad (as well as steph-or at least, he was led to believe, in the same week) died, also he was in a school shooting. He did attempt to go to a school in bludhaven but the kids there were so wildly insensitive about the shooting that tim dropped out under the pretense of his "uncle" homeschooling him. In his oyl era, he /did/ go back to school, and it provided him some form of normalcy. Tim was a normal kid, he wasnt crazy about school but he still went to school and it helped him feel like a normal kid, something he desperately clung to. He only dropped out again to do his Brucequest, in an era where he was notably Not Doing Well (which. Yeah. he wasnt doing well bc he was like 17 and almost everyone in his support system was dead, he recently had hits put out on him, got blown up, and backstabbed by his not-dead-ex, he couldnt support his theory that bruce was alive and was extremely stressed about that, and he didnt know wtf he was doing. I love him btw.) Basically tim dropping out of school was a signifier that he wasnt doing well and he was giving up on the normality that he tried to cling to and im a bit of a nitpicky person who gets irked by minor things

Newbie wants to get into AVA. Help!

so I'm one of those losers (/lh) that, despite being a kid right when AVA was getting big, never actually watched it. Now, after watching a bit of AVM as an adult, I'm wanting to - but there's SO MUCH. There's lingo, there's gajinkas, there's AVA and AVM and AVE and what have you. There's a lot to watch and not all of it is compiled on Becker's channel playlists, so I must ask...

How does one watch AVA?

I've been notified of an order for AVA and AVM, but there's stuff like Animation vs Addiction that doesn't feature in any of the playlists. Are those canon? Is there a chronological order? Is there a playlist with all of this as it was released or in a comprehensive order? I'd appreciate any help you can give me, even if it's just a YouTube playlist or an order (e.g. AVA 1-4, AVM S1-2, AVA 5-8, AVM S3, etc).

Also, extra question, is there any fandom-specific lingo/terminology that I should know? Like how some call the King from AVM "King Orange" or "Mango". I'm assuming this all came from Becker streams but genuinely I am as NEWBIE as newbie gets. Appreciate any responses, have a wonderful day!

Thinking about Shao Yuanyuan and her wildcard potential and it hit me today... just how much does she know? Does she live in a time loop similar to Lu Guang or does she hop in and out of the past like Cheng Xiaoshi? Does she know that Cheng Xiaoshi also has a death node?

It suddenly occurred to me to that the Shao Yuanyuan we likely saw during the fire in Ep 4, was either a time leaping SYY from the future or at least one who had information from her future self to know to be in Bridon at this point in time and also a Shao Yuanyuan who might have just realized Cheng Xiaoshi had awakened his own powers.

Given her meeting with Cheng Xiaoshi in Ep 6 where she acts like Cheng Xiaoshi should be aware of how this all works, I suspect that it's because the version of Shao Yuanyuan from Ep 4 arranged this meeting because she encountered Cheng Xiaoshi during the fire and thus knew he would show up in Bridon and go searching for them through Wang Qing. She needed to set up that meeting so she could tell Cheng Xiaoshi face to face not to pursue her anymore (and make things more complicated).

I also think that was her second attempt at doing so - the first being to go back years earlier to tell the Qiao family not to let him go to Bridon. But the future refused to change so she found another opportunity to try again.

And based on Lu Guang's comments it sounds like she would have also failed again in the original timeline. It's not clear how her conversation with CXS went last time (if there was one) but at the very least she might not have had time to make CXS promise not to chase after her anymore, and that would have likely sealed his fate. If anything, a sudden interrupted meeting like that might have even encouraged him further.

And this is all coming from a Shao Yuanyuan from an unknown point in the future...

Anyway this is a lot of words to say where in time is Shao Yuanyuan?

And what the heck does the timeline look like from her perspective?

Oh yeah- the oil slick colors! It's in a few art pieces with Jack specifically. Someone mentioned it months ago and it also stuck with me so now I kinda just have that attached.

Its kinda based on that sort of dark rainbow you get when a sheen of oil or gasoline is on the surface of water and the light hits it just right. Its very trippy and is frankly kinda damaging to everything around it and leaks everywhere and is hard to clean up once it gets spilled. There is something about that which reminds me of Jack and all the weird supernatural stuff as a visual motif.

#i forget who said it but it also very much sticks with me #something about how trippy it looks...#also that anything rainbow naturally is sorta hidden in the natural order of things #like the idea of ranbows and breaking up the natural light into dif spectrums #its always there but we dont see it?#like how everything about the gas station and jack is like normal at first glance but under the surface there is so much more #if i could explain it better i would #its a similar thing in my head to like color out of space #we just see the normal light but if you get a prism (gate) it splits and you can suddenly see all that lies below just out if view #clock rambles #tales from the gas station #tftgs
