i think it's really cool that sarah snook has said in interviews that at first when she got the script she wasn't sure about doing succession cause she was scared that it would be this show about businessmen and she would be relegated to the hot sister who does nothing and is a one dimensional character, and then the show ended up being all about her, literally the tomshiv show and shiv ended up being one of the most complicated multifaceted well written female characters in all of tv history

hi!! what are your top 10 t/jj moments?
Oh boy, everybody strap in...
#1 Ex Mach Tina
Tumblr media
I'm just going to count this whole episode because it is perfection. A concept lifted from TBBT, Tina and Jimmy Jr. bonding like never before, three plot lines that wove together, this magnificent kiss in front of the bonfire which symbolizes their burning passion for each other . . . My absolute favorite. There is not one thing I would change about this episode.
#2 The Sky Kiss
Tumblr media
Since this episode followed Ex Mach Tina, I figured it should follow on my list too. We really got these 2 great moments one after another, I can barely believe it. I hope life feels that good again someday. Anyway, how cute was Jimmy Jr. in this episode? He planned a whole special Valentine's Day kiss for Tina and he wanted the whole class involved. No wonder this won an Emmy.
#3 The Rose
Tumblr media
Another Valentine's Day surprise. This one just makes my heart so happy. Tina spent the whole episode so worried that she wasn't going to get a carnation, and then at the very end Jimmy Jr. comes through, not with a carnation, but a red rose. The rest of Wagstaff had carnations, but only Tina got a rose. Ugh, so sweet.
#4 Tina's 13th Birthday
Tumblr media
Where it all began. Say what you want about the rest of this episode, but they got this part right. The moment where they're both pressed up against the windows of their respective restaurants, wanting to be together, was the moment I started shipping them. The over-the-top first kiss was just a bonus.
#5 The Mile
Tumblr media
This might seem like an odd choice, but I thought it was really fun to see Tina and Jimmy Jr. be playful and competitive in this episode and I would love to see more interactions like this between them. It doesn't all have to have a heavy romance focus.
#6 Pie in the Sky
Tumblr media
I remember the night this aired and it was ridiculously exciting. But yes, this was T/JJ at their best. Jimmy Jr. sold his bike to take Tina to that fancy restaurant. Then when Louise hijacks it and Tina describes how she actually wanted the date to go, Jimmy Jr. not only understands her, but says that's the same date he wanted too. They both wanted to sit in the kelp and kiss! But kissing in the restaurant is good too.
#7 T-I-N-A
Tumblr media
I know Two For Tina isn't exactly a shining moment for Jimmy Jr., but I think we have to appreciate all the lengths the boy goes through to try to win Tina back. And come on, the song is a classic.
#8 Bruce the Goose
Tumblr media
I've said it before and I'm going to say it again, Jimmy Jr. was 100% the hero of this episode. He saved Bruce for her even though it just caused him further injury, and it was only through his actions that Tina snapped out of her weird goose obsession. Plus we got our first canon cheek kiss. Adorable.
#9 The Quirky Turkey
Tumblr media
#I don't know if you all know this, but I am a big fan of long OTP kisses that do not end. We have that Shamy reunion kiss and now we have the T/JJ Quirky Turkey on-stage kiss. Setting aside the blood and guts and weird costumes, this is a great one. We didn't see it, but I like to think Mr. Frond had a hard time breaking them apart at the end.
#10 End of the World
Tumblr media
I debated a little on whether to include this one because it's such a quick moment, but I really do appreciate how Tina thought the end was nigh and the first thing she decided she had to do was give Jimmy Jr. this kiss. And as we've discussed previously, I think if it had gone on a little longer he would have kissed back.

The Lady Whistledown issue in the show will be much more interesting and FUN! I'm here for the drama!!!! Eloise's season will have the consecuenses of the reveal as side plot and I'm all for the oldest Bridgerton bros to take the wheel, the show made Eloise and Benedict the closest to each other so I wouldn't be surprise if Anthony lets Benedict handle the Phillip/Eloise situation while he make his best with the whole Whistledown (bc there's no way the show Bridgertons will be happy about it)
Hi anon! I am so here for the drama as well. I think they'll really throw a curveball into the future seasons and I can't wait to see what it is. That's a v good point-Eloise's season will have to focus on that as the book was so frustrating as if Penelope hadn't said a lot of bad things about everyone? It wasn't all bad but especially in the show-she's hurt a lot of her closest friends and family.
I'm really hoping we see Anthony have a close relationship with Francesca, Eloise, Hyacinth or Gregory in S2-my hope is it's Francesca as she was barely in S1 and she's old enough to have more mature conversations. They need to build her character more as well.
I love the Benedict and Eloise's friendship. The Bridgerton boys crashing into Philip's house to fight him and rescue Eloise was the highlight of TSPWL and I loved Eloise/Anthony's moment in the study, and how Anthony talks about Kate <3 Anthony will definitely have to take charge of the Whistledown aftermath.
So excited to see what's in store for us! I saw Chris VD said he was in LA editing the first two episodes which is a really good sign? I don't know a lot about the post-production process but I imagine it takes months and months and Netflix have a habit of pushing out shows anyway! I wish it would come out at Christmas but I'd say we're looking at April 2022 earliest, maybe even Summer.
The fact it got multiple Emmy nominations is so good but tbh, Rege's was a popularity nomination rather than an acting one. I do think Simon's story and his trauma from his relationship with his father was not done well in the show and he didn't have a lot to work with but it just isn't Emmy worthy. If Rege got one, it's very unfair Phoebe has been snubbed yet again like she has since Bridgerton came out-all the attention has gone to Rege and it's not been very fair. I'd be saying the exact same thing about Phoebe as well, it wasn't an Emmy worthy performance but she definitely deserved it more than Rege did if someone had to be nominated.
I don't know if this is me snooping for drama but I noticed that all of the cast congratulated the show for the best drama but no one directly congratulated Rege? I really wonder if he just didn't get along with the cast or something or his exit has left bitter feelings.
I was very surprised when I saw his nomination. Having him in a category with the likes of Josh O'Connor, Matthew Rhys and Billy Porter for Bridgerton? He is a very good actor but this was not an Emmy worthy performance at all, I saw him in Roots and he was ten times better. Josh has the win already for the Crown, he was phenomenal in that. I adore Bridgerton but I wouldn't have given a nomination to any of the actors except Adjoa Andoh.
I don't know how this year's nominations will impact next years, the Emmys can be funny-but I have watched nearly everything Jonathan Bailey has been in and seen some of his stage work on YT and the man has won an Olivier! He's so bloody talented and I love him. I've seen some of Luke Thompson's stage work on Youtube as well and the man is talented. Out of the main cast, I think Johnny, Luke Thompson and Claudia Jessie are the most talented actors.
Anthony's storyline is an excellent opportunity for raw, emotional acting that I think Jonathan will be able to pull off if it's good writing. Jonathan B also has great range and he was hilarious in Crashers so the frustration and arguments with Simone are going to be very fun to watch as his expressions and brooding were hilarious in S1. He's the main main this season so he's going to have a big opportunity to showcase his talent. I've only seen Simone in Sex Education and she's hilarious in it but it's a small role and it's not enough for me to have an opinion really on her acting yet! I think she's amazing and from the praise she's been getting from Chris and the cast, I think she's going to be a brilliant Kate. The two of them on screen are going to be electric and the chemistry is going to be off the charts. This is her big break and I’m so excited for her, she deserves it so much and a good few actors get nominations from their big breaks and I would be thrilled to see it!
Luke Thompson could do very well in his season as well but there's definitely not as much to work with it as Anthony's storyline but they'll definitely give him something more. Claudia is incredibly expressive and absolutely hilarious-I can't wait to see what she does with Eloise and what they have in line for her, I'm guessing it's just hunting for Lady Whistledown.
I hope I don't sound negative here, I do adore the cast and they are all very talented! I really rambled on here haha, apologies! Hope you're having a good day anon :)

Things We Lost in the Fire, ch 35
aka Caleo uni au
Fic summary: Calypso starts studying at a new university, but to her annoyance her new flatmate is a loud mouthed mechanic who also likes to sneak his dog in whenever. But as she learns to know him better, she realizes they might have more in common than what she first thought. Eventually, even the darkest secrets come out…
Chapter summary: Final Waystation chapter, yay!
Or: In which Leo and Calypso both make some progress.
A/N: OK, first of all, within these 3 weeks we have hit 3 pretty big milestones! 1) It was this fic's first anniversary this friday so hooray for that! Can't believe this story has been in my life so long already. 2) We've reached 7000 hits on ao3! It's crazy to think so many of you are reading this even though not all that many seem to like Caleo! And 3) We have also reached 90k words with this chapter! No, when I started planning this fic I definitely did not plan to make it over 100k words but that really seems to be the direction it's going to :'D I /do/ however hope that once we finally get the flatmates back to their flat, we are (slowly) starting our journey towards the 'final arc'. But how many words will that take? Only Apollo knows, I guess.
Alright, enough rambling! Now, enjoy and please, please, please, let me know what you think of this chapter (and the previous one if you haven't) because I /really/ do want to know what you think. Was it about time? Are these two being too sappy? And all that stuff!
Words: 4287
Genre: romance & hurt/comfort
Warnings: none

...
After the whole ‘kitchen episode’ Leo and Calypso went back to spend some time with Leo’s family who were playing Monopoly in Waystation’s small library. Calypso had expected to be questioned about what had happened in the kitchen. To her surprise, though, Emmie just briefly asked if the flatmates had managed to resolve their issues, to which they answered a quick ‘yes’, and that was the end of that conversation. Even though Calypso was grateful that she or Jo hadn’t asked more, at the same time, one part of her did want to tell them.
Once a new round of Monopoly was finished (with Leo winning, even though the others kept whispering to him that he should let Georgina win), it was already pretty late and Leo and Calypso withdrew into their respective rooms. When it got quiet in the hallway, though, there was a knock on Calypso’s door.
“Who is it?” Calypso asked from her bed where she had been resting, thinking about the events of that day.
The voice from the other side of the door said: “Just me, Leo. Can I come in?”
“Sure, as long as you don’t do anything funny while in here,” Calypso replied, half joking, half serious.
“What, nothing funny? But Leo Valdez and fun go hand in hand,” he claimed through the door.
Calypso rolled her eyes at him even though he couldn’t see. “Ugh, you know what I mean. Listen, I know we are… um…” she stopped to taste the word in her mouth, “... dating now, but I have decided that I want to take it slowly. Too many bad experiences in the past. I hope you get that.”
“Alright, I understand,” Leo said to her relief. “Don’t worry, I won’t be trying anything ‘funny’ as you called it. I’m a man of my word!”
“In that case, you can come in here,” Calypso told him, sitting up on her bed.
Leo entered the room, still wearing the day clothes (surprisingly, jeans and a white shirt this time, and not his favorite overalls. While Calypso loved the overalls, she did have to admit that he looked pretty nice in the current outfit) even though it was already pretty late. Calypso herself had changed into her pajamas, a pink flannel shirt and pants that matched it. She followed Leo to a small couch opposite to her bed, sitting down next to him. At first she kept some space between them but after some hesitation and some encouraging looks from Leo, she finally snuggled up by his side, leaning her head on his shoulder. Her hand was laying on her pajama pants and he lowered his on it, tracing the outline with his thumb. Calypso was happy to notice he felt nicely warm on the cool winter night.
“I am glad we can do this now,” she said quietly, watching their hands.
“Me too. Although, we could probably have done it a whole lot earlier if we weren’t so damn stubborn,” Leo reminded her.
“Ouch. Yeah, that is probably true,” Calypso admitted, closing her eyes.
“So… it’s been a day,” Leo said when a silence fell between them. “It has…” Calypso agreed. “Weird how this morning seems to have happened like a year ago.” “Yeah…” Calypso shifted slightly on her spot by Leo’s side. “Can I ask you a question, though? How are you feeling now? You know… after… everything...”
“I… it’s hard to say,” Leo answered. “I’m not gonna claim that us kissing fixed all of my problems. Nah, it doesn’t work like that. Don’t get me wrong, it was awesome but - woah, am I really saying this? - I think the opening up part was more important. It clarified some things in my head. You know, like what I want to do and what I should do. And the fact that you have experienced something similar… This is probably gonna sound awful, but I was kinda relieved to hear that. Don’t get me wrong; I wish that you wouldn’t have had to go through any of that, but since you have… it means we understand each other. I can trust that you won’t judge me, which I honestly can’t say about all the people.”
“Yeah.” Calypso nodded slightly, not removing her head from his shoulder. “I know what you mean. I feel the same way.”
“And…” Leo continued, and Calypso imagined a grin spreading on his face, “Now I have some good memories to associate Christmas with. That definitely doesn’t hurt, right?”
“I’m glad I managed to give you something else to think about, then.” Calypso smiled.
“You certainly did. For real, I’ve had to pinch myself a couple of times this evening,” Leo confessed.
“Why?” Calypso frowned.
“Because it’s hard to believe it’s true. I mean this. Us.”
“And why is that?” Calypso wanted to know.
“Because you’re great in practically every possible way while I’m… me?”
Calypso raised her head from Leo’s shoulder and gave Leo her best ‘are you kidding me’ look. “Listen to me now. Aside from your guilt complex, you really should work on your self esteem some more. You’re a good person, Leo, even though you don’t always seem to think so. Of course you have your flaws just like I do, but I don’t love some superhuman version of you. Me from a few months ago is probably shaking her head so hard right now, but here’s what I think: you’re smart. And funny when you’re not trying to. And persistent. Hard-working. You make fixing things seem effortless. And you’re ready to put your loved ones’ happiness before yours. In fact, I think sometimes you care so much that it hurts you. But it only makes me care about you even more."
Leo was quiet for a while, probably still trying to swallow Calypso’s words.
“Woah, um… Thanks, Sunshine. I guess two people can really see the same thing very differently.”
“Yes, we can,” Calypso agreed. “I bet your view of me is also very different from how I see myself.”
“You’re probably right there.”
Calypso decided to change the topic when it got quiet. “Do you think that your family has any idea? About what happened between us?”
“I think we did our acting pretty well.” Leo grinned against her hair. “It’s pretty suspicious, though, that they didn’t ask us anything.”
“Well, better that way than trying to answer some awkward questions,” Calypso noted. “Um… I hope you know that I would really like to tell them about us, but… it’s better to be safe than sorry.”
“I know. You just want to protect me, right? I would also want to protect you if I was in your situation.”
“Mmmmh.”
A comfortable silence fell between the couple. Calypso was happy to notice that Leo was so relaxed in her company that he didn’t even swing his legs back and forth like he often did. Eventually he spoke:
“Hey… you asked me how I am doing but what about you? I know I haven’t made this day easy for you…”
“I appreciate you asking. To be honest? I’m doing pretty well now. This night has been… unexpected, to say the least. I didn’t think I would be brave enough to get over my worries, but here we finally are. It’s a bit scary…” Calypso noticed Leo’s hand twitching slightly on hers, so she was quick to add: “... but like you said, also relieving. Don’t worry, I will be sticking to my word. There are no take backs now,” Calypso reassured him.
“Good.” Leo nodded.
“Hey... “ Calypso said when she spotted something on the nearby desk. “I, uh, know that we both have been really testing our boundaries today, but there’s something I would still like to try. That is, if that’s OK with you.”
“Alright. What is it?” Leo asked curiously.
“My mum always used to light up some candles by the windowsill on Christmas night when I was a kid. She said she did that in memory of those who weren’t there to celebrate with us anymore. That’s a tradition that’s stuck with me until now. Emmie put some candles over there…” Calypso nodded towards a desk by the window, “... earlier today, but I didn’t know how you would feel about me using them, so I didn’t. But… What do you say? You could take it as a part of your training.”
Leo didn’t seem to love the idea at first but finally he gave in.
“Alright. But just one. And it needs to be far from all the other objects.”
“Yes. Don’t worry, we both will keep a watchful eye on it.”
Calypso felt Leo’s eyes on her the whole time as she rose from the sofa and lit up the candle. He was seemingly relieved when she sat back down next to him and wrapped her arm around his shoulder. “You know all about the fire’s dangerous sides…” Calypso started with a calming tone, “... but it can be very useful too when used right. It can ruin, but it can also help to build new things. A lot of your precious machines wouldn’t exist without fire, right? Have you ever stopped to consider that?”
Leo frowned at her, taking her words in. “Are you trying to say that fire has many different sides to it, just like us people? But if we only choose to see the negative, we will never understand the positive sides?”
“Yes, basically. We are both very judgemental towards ourselves, but today was a good example that not everyone sees us the same way.”
“Yeah… You’re not wrong there… I’ll try to remember that.”
“Me too.”
Calypso noticed Leo glanced at the candle briefly before his eyes returned to her. He was still a little stiff but a lot less so than when Calypso had lit up the candle.
“I was thinking…” he said suddenly. “Since we are official now and all that… Should we, you know, do something together… you know, outside our flat… sometime? When this vacation is over?”
“You mean like a date?” Calypso asked, surprised by the chance of the topic. But then again, she figured it might have been his way to try to distract himself. “Hmmm, let me think…” Leo already looked a bit worried for a moment before she finally started smiling at him. “Alright. I suppose we can do that.”
“And will we resume our movie nights? And cooking sessions?” His eyes lit up almost like the candle on the desk.
“Of course, you weirdo. I don’t think I have any reason to avoid you anymore, now that you know…”
“Know what?” Leo grinned. “That you think Leo Valdez is pretty damn hot?”
Calypso knew that Leo was most likely expecting her to lash at him, so she decided to use a different kind of tactic. She gave him a flirtiest smile she could muster, and replied:
“Sure. Let me tell you a little secret: when you are wearing those overalls you always do, my heart feels like it’s doing somersaults in my chest…”
Leo blinked at her a couple of times as if he couldn’t believe what he had just heard.
“Wait, what? What did you just say?”
Calypso snorted. “Just playing your own game, you know.”
“Oh, alright. I see now.” Leo’s ears went red, which amused Calypso a lot.
“You’re cute when you’re flustered,” she chirped at him, poking his cheek playfully.
“Har har.”
Calypso pressed a kiss on his cheek.
“I hope you know I wouldn’t be doing this if I wasn’t 100% comfortable around you. I had already decided that I would not… I would not allow myself to go through what I already did several times before, but you just had to make me break my promise to myself.”
“And you know what?” Leo turned his head so they were eye to eye. “I’m not sorry at all that I made you do that.”
“Of course you aren’t,” Calypso rolled her eyes at him. They kept gazing at each other for a moment before Calypso’s urge to kiss her fool of a boyfriend got too strong. It was a light and gentle kiss, one that she hoped told him that she was happy to be where she was and also proud of him for being able to handle the flame of the candle.
“Whoa, what was that for?” Leo asked once Calypso had pulled away.
“Just to shut you up for a moment,” Calypso lied.
“Nah. You wouldn’t want me to do that,” Leo grinned at her knowingly.
“Alright. Maybe I wouldn’t. So keep talking,” Calypso encouraged him.
“Okay,” Leo obliged. “About what?”
“Anything, really. Something silly and light, Leo Valdez style.”
Leo seemed to think about Calypso’s request for a moment.
“Hey, have you heard about the time when Jason had a party at his father’s house without him knowing and Piper…”
Leo continued telling her silly stories about his friends (even though a few involved also Percy, that didn’t ruin Calypso’s mood). From that they moved onto other things, such as what an ideal date would be for each of them (their opinions differed less than expected, to Calypso’s surprise), the favorite place they had ever visited (Calypso remembered Malta and the nearby islands quite fondly), and how fast Georgina would build her 1000-piece puzzle. The time flew by as they talked and Calypso was surprised to notice at some point that it was almost 3 AM and the candle had gone out a long time ago without either of them noticing. Leo snuck back into his room as quietly as possible, but not without giving Calypso one last good night kiss in the dark hallway before they separated.
The Christmas break was coming to an end and it was Leo and Calypso’s last full day at Waystation. Calypso felt a little bitter sweet about it; on one hand the vacation had been a bit of a rollercoaster emotionally, but on the other hand everything had ended better than she had dared to expect. She knew that she and Leo still had plenty of work to do when it came to their communication skills and of course she was also worried something would go wrong – specifically, regarding her father – but it still felt so freeing to be able to tell what she really thought and to be able to love and be loved.
She would of course miss the people of Waystation. Georgina was adorable and seemed to have basically adopted Calypso as her big sister at this point. She enjoyed teaching things to the girl; baking, gardening, sewing, even a little bit of singing… She was also pretty quick-witted for someone of her age and Calypso was quite certain that she did know that something was going on between her and Leo no matter how hard they were trying to deny it. Leo’s mothers were also great people and they had already told Calypso that she was welcome to Waystation any time she wanted. They also mentioned that they didn’t mind if she kicked Leo’s butt a bit sometimes when he deserved it. She had thanked them and told them that she’d keep their advice in mind.
The final day didn’t go entirely without surprises. Emmie had quickly mentioned that they would be getting more dinner guests that day, but Calypso hadn’t been prepared for the entire Hunters of Artemis crew to show up. They were old acquaintances of Jo and Emmie, the group’s former coaches, and the older women still asked them to drop by whenever they were nearby. To Calypso’s surprise, when she heard about the visit, her instinct to flee was not quite as strong anymore as it had been when she had last seen Thalia and Reyna.
“Are you OK with this?” Leo asked after Emmie had gone back to greet the visitors. “I remember that you weren’t eager to talk to them at the Halloween party and now I understand why… If you wanna, like, go out and check the foster animals or something like that, we can do that.”
“I think… I think it’s time for me to face my past,” Calypso replied. “I can’t do that if I hide every time I see someone who used to know Zoë…”
“That’s a fair point,” Leo agreed. “But still, don’t push yourself too hard.”
Soon the couple was in the hallway where everyone had gathered.
“Oh, there you two are!” Jo exclaimed when she saw them. “I was already starting to wonder if you had gone back to your flat earlier than planned.”
“Oh, nah,” Leo denied, waving his hand nonchalantly. “We just had some things we needed to discuss.”
Jo looked at him suspiciously, probably wondering what exactly they had discussed. “Hmm. Well, it’s good that you seem to be on speaking terms again. Anyway, Calypso, I believe you haven’t met these people before, so say hello to the Hunters of Artemis. Thalia Grace…” She pointed at a young woman with dark, spiky hair, whom Calypso remembered from the Halloween party. “Reyna Ramírez-Arellano…” Another dark haired girl, with a long braid, however, nodded at Calypso. “And here’s…” Jo continued her introductions but the names simply went through her brain and didn’t stay there. Maybe it was the Leo influence, she wondered; she didn’t remember having issues with focusing earlier.
“Hi, all.” She tried to sound confident but she didn’t think she succeeded very well. Surely Reyna and Thalia remembered how she had spent a whole night trying to avoid talking to them, getting drunk and throwing up in Piper’s bathroom in the end. “Hello,” Reyna spoke first. “I believe I’ve seen you once before. At Jason’s place last month, right?”
“Uh, yeah,” Calypso had to admit reluctantly. Well, at least she wasn’t drunk in a mythology themed costume right now, she thought, so she had a chance to give them a bit better picture of herself than earlier.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you properly now,” Reyna said and shook her hand.
“Likewise,” Calypso told her, although she still felt like she was not living up to the meaning of her name, ‘she who conceals’.
“And you probably saw Thalia at that party too. Jason’s sister. My… friend.” Reyna glanced at the other girl quickly when she said the word ‘friend’.
Calypso noticed the slight hesitation and remembered Leo and some others as well mention that the two girls most likely had something going on even though they had to hide it because of their status on their archery team. She knew better than to bring that up, though.
“Hello, Thalia. Yes, I remember seeing you there,” she replied, mainly to be polite.
Before anyone had time to say anything else, Jo told the group that the guests were free to explore the house or do anything they wanted while she and Emmie were finishing the dinner and setting the tables. Many of the Hunters headed back out to the yard to see the animals or do a little bit of exercising before the meal, but Reyna and Thalia had apparently spent their afternoon practicing so they needed a little down time. Leo asked Calypso if she would have preferred to go to help Emmie and Jo but she remained stubborn. If she couldn’t do this now, she didn’t know she would be able to do it, so she guided Leo to the living room where Reyna and Thalia had gone.
When Thalia heard they had entered the room, she turned towards them.
“We didn’t really get a chance to talk the last time I saw you,” she noted bluntly.
“Sorry about that; I was having a bit of a rough day back then, to be honest,” Calypso replied vaguely.
“To me it looked like you were having the most fun out of all of us,” Thalia said, but Reyna elbowed her in the ribs. “Hey!”
“Don’t worry about it,” Calypso sighed. “I wasn’t acting like myself that evening.”
“We all have those days…” Reyna reassured her.
“Yeah, I guess so.” Calypso shrugged.
“Someone mentioned that your last name is Astal,” Thalia noted when it got quiet again. “Is that true?”
“Yes, unfortunately it is,” Calypso replied, getting a bit anxious because she knew where this conversation was heading to. “Why do you ask?”
Her hand quickly reached for Leo’s, who was still standing next to her, and even though she couldn’t hold it in front of the others, feeling his fingers right next to hers felt reassuring.
“Because it’s probably not a very common last name, right?” Thalia inquired, “and we used to have someone on our team whose last name was Astal before she took her mother’s last name. Zoë Nightshade, does that ring any bells?”
“Yes. She was my older sister,” Calypso confirmed, feeling herself stiffen a bit.
“Oh… I’m so sorry… I mean, I heard what happened to her… Just horrible.” Thalia shook her head.
Calypso was struggling to find the right words, but Leo quickly tapped on her back with his fingers when the others didn't notice and that helped her to root herself. “I don’t think there are any words to describe it,” she mumbled. “Um, did you know my sister well?”
“Not as well as some others on our team, to be honest. I had only been on the team for a few months before we heard the news about the accident…” Thalia said. “But she seemed like such a great person. One of our most talented archers for sure, and really determined. She was always the first on the field and the last to leave.”
“That… that does sound like her,” Calypso smiled a bit sadly. “Did she… did she ever talk about her home life to you?”
“Not much.” Thalia shrugged. “A bit.”
“Oh… What did she say?” Calypso wanted to know.
“I did get the impression that she really hated her father. And her mother lived somewhere far, apparently? But she did mention her sisters every once in a while. Did she have any other younger siblings besides you?” Thalia asked.
“No, she didn’t. She was the second youngest and I am the youngest of the group. Big family… But is there a reason why you ask that?”
“You see, she did sometimes talk about her baby sister. I remember that she always wished she could do more for her because she thought her sister deserved better than what she… Wait, what’s wrong?” she stopped when she noticed Calypso’s reaction.
Even though Calypso had tried her best to stay calm, once she heard what Zoë had said about her, she couldn’t stop the tears anymore. Leo quickly stepped in front of her while she tried to recover and glared at Thalia angrily.
“Calypso was there when the accident happened,” he blurted. “Do you think she really wants to talk about her the whole time?”
“I thought she would be happy to hear that her sister respected her a lot,” Thalia attempted to defend herself.
“But…” Leo wanted to continue the debate but Calypso stopped him.
“No, Leo, it’s OK.” She put a hand on his shoulder.
“It’s not OK!” Leo exclaimed.
She took a deep breath and withdrew herself from Leo’s arms. “It is. I mean… It's not easy for me to talk about her, but it’s like I said earlier. I need to learn to live with this. Does it hurt? Yeah. But I’m also thankful for hearing her say that about me. She wished I could experience a better life than she did prior to her joining the Hunters. I hope that if she’s watching me right now… from wherever she is… she’s happy for me. Well… I’m not out of the woods yet, as you can surely see right now," she chuckled ironically, referring to her teary face, "but… you know. I’m getting there. I’m feeling better than I have in a long while. And that’s what counts.”
“I don’t know what your source of happiness is, but whatever it is, I’m sure she would be happy for you.” Thalia nodded approvingly.
“Some things are better kept secrets,” Calypso replied mysteriously, turning to Reyna. “Did you know my sister?”
“No, unfortunately not,” Reyna replied. “I joined this group only a couple of years ago. Thalia’s been on it way longer. But I’ve heard a lot of stories about her from some of our older teammates, and it sounded like she was someone everyone looked up to. Even our coach complimented her sometimes and she never compliments anyone unless for a very good reason.”
“It sounds like she was really enjoying her life and had great people around her before… you know. It’s… great. I saw how hard she fought to get out of our father’s grip and do what she really wanted. She was happy with you guys.” The evil side of Calypso’s brain wanted to add that ‘she was happy until I messed it up for her’. She considered the fact that she managed to call herself out before she said that sentence aloud as some kind of progress.
“Yeah. I really think she was,” Thalia reassured her.
Calypso gave her a small, sad smile. “Good.”
After that the group started talking about other things. Thalia told Calypso some stories about Jason. Reyna explained why she had decided to join the Hunters even though she had already been doing well on another team before that. Leo also contributed to the stories sometimes and at some point, Calypso noticed that she was feeling quite at ease with this group. Even though Zoë was still briefly mentioned on a few occasions, it didn’t bother her as much anymore. Some kind of lock had opened inside her and she didn’t plan to close it anymore.

Frantic -- Matthew Tkachuk (Pt.3)
Tumblr media
a/n: here we are back at it again with part 3! this was honestly my faviourite one to write so far so I hope you guys enjoy it!
Part One  Part Two
It was a lively Saturday night in downtown Toronto. The streets were full of people shuffling into restaurants and bars. The boys were away on a roadie down the east coast which meant you had your best friends all to yourself. You loved Nick to death but it was good to get some quality time with Emily. Hand in hand, the two of you shook off the cold as you entered The Loose Moose.
This place was an absolute institution for you guys, it was packed full of memories. Endless arguments over that night's game, many wins celebrated and losses mourned. Stupid fights over who was covering the tab and countless nights of Auston or Mitch throwing you over their shoulder because you were getting a bit too feisty. The sweetest memory of all though was Nick meeting Emily for the first time. She had just moved to the city for school so you took her out with the boys to show her some fun. The second Nick saw her he was down for the count and in love ever since. You wondered if Matt felt the same way about you.
It wasn’t overly crowded tonight giving you guys the chance to sit in your regular seats at the end of the bar. It had become a tradition for you and Emily to go out to catch the game while the boys were away.
Nursing your first beer while you looked at the menu, Emliy huffed beside you.
“What’s wrong?”
“I don’t understand why I’m wearing a flames jersey” She played with the sleeves, a sour look across her face.
“Because I wore Muzz’s jersey the last time we went out.” Your voice extremely uninterested.
“So? You love Jake!”
“Yes but I also love Talbot, listen, Calgary's playing tonight too so you just gotta suffer.”
“God you suck” She said, taking a long sip of her Tequila Sunrise.
“Do you want to split a poutine or just share some apps” She scoffed at you and you just flash her a toothy smile as she begins to pout.
The rest of the night went smoother. After many plates of food and maybe one too many beers you felt good. The Leafs won their game and you guys got several dirty looks for cheering a bit too loud. You couldn’t help how excited Emily tends to get when Nick does anything and several drinks made you more than proud of Mitch.
The second period of the Flames vs Kings game had you on edge of your seat. Given his history, you knew Matty was going to cause some trouble but you hoped to god today he wouldn’t. You made sure to message him before the game but you weren’t sure if he actually saw it. Looking away for just a second  as you signaled the bartender for another drink was enough time for gloves to be dropped and for Matt to start throwing punches.
Keeping your eyes glued to the screen you couldn’t move. You had seen him get in a million  fights before but this felt different. You couldn’t help but feel something twist in your stomach and your cheeks started to get hot. You weren't a fan of the violence but watching him really turned you on. Watching a smirk cover his face as he headed to the box, you’d give anything to know what was going on his head. Distracted from the fight you had missed Emily taking pictures of your concentrated face and getting someone to take a picture of you two from behind in your jerseys.
As the game went into intermission, you took to instagram posting the photos. The first being the Talbot and Lindholm jerseys the two of you had on followed by the photo of your intense concentration. Captioning it, ‘when the boys are away the girls get too into the game’ you hit post.
After a few minutes comments started flooding:
marner_93: gross
morganrielly: @marner_93 second that
nickrobertson01: I really hate you Y/N, we all know Em looks better in blue
Emm01: @nickrobertson01 I was forced, I’m wearing your sweater under this
matthew_tkachuk: getting closer, the right team but still the wrong last name!!
austonmatthews: @matthew_tkachuk nah it’s the wrong everything
fredrikandersen31: I feel so betrayed
-----------------------------------------
After a bitter fight, the Flames came out with a loss and you had come out of the bar way more drunk then you had intended. Being pushed into the uber and having Emily lay your head on her lap you closed your eyes and sighed heavily wondering how Matty was doing. The more you thought about Matt, the more you thought about how Auston was acting about the two of you talking. Tensing your shoulders, a frown covered your face. Your friend could feel you tense up and she started rubbing small circles into your back. Talking to you drunk was like talking to a full grown toddler.
“Whatcha thinking about there, mini.” she hums softly.
Mumbling slightly you said, “Auston”
“Why's that?”
“Mm-making me feel weird about Matty” A smile crossed your lips as you said his name.
“What do you mean hunny?”
“Calling me a pest, looking at my phone, getting way too protective, very uncool of him.”
“I thought him and Matthew were friends though? Why would he care what Matt does?”
“Aus heard us talking after the game.”
“Y/N sweetie, he can’t be mad about that.”
“Heard me say Matty needs to see what is under my jersey.”
“Excuse me!!!”
“Shhhh Emmy. Too loud.”
“Sorry love. Why would you say that?”
“He told me to go to the game in red.”
“When did he tell you that? Did he DM you?”
“The morning before the game when I did pregame coffee. Ruined his hoodie” Pausing you turn slightly to look up at Emily. “I really like him.”
Emily decided you had answered enough questions for the night and just smiled back “Oh Y/N, I’m sure he likes you too.”
The rest of the ride was silent as Emily played with your hair, letting you drift to sleep until you guys got home. She brought you upstairs and helped you get changed. As she did you spoke soft whispers about all the reasons you liked Matthew which made your best friend laugh. In the five years she’s known you, she never had seen you be this head over heels for anyone. It was refreshing. She tucked you into bed and told you she was going to call Nick and to just yell if you needed her. Once your door was closed, you got the brilliant idea to call Matthew. After what felt like struggling forever to find your phone you finally got it and listened to the rhythmic sound of the phone ringing. His voice was rough when he spoke almost as if you had woken him up. Which of course you did.
“Hello?”
Chirping almost like a baby bird you dragged out his name. “Matthewwwww!”
“Y/N? What are you doing up so late?”
“Emmy and I went to the bar to watch you play baby!” Suddenly everything clicked into place in his mind and he realized how trashed you were.
“Awh thank you princess. Did I make you proud?”
“The PROUDEST babe but your fight made me feel…” Trailing off in the middle of the sentence.
“Feel what sweetheart?”
“Ya know, feel…” You added a little spicy to your voice.
“Oh,” he said as everything fell into place in his mind “did I turn you on princess?” His voice became raspy as he waited egerly for you to say something.
Your side of the phone remained silent for a few seconds before you sprang into another topic.
“Ou! Ou! Ou! Wanna hear what I told Emmy tonight!?”
He laughed slightly as you avoid his question. “Sure sweetheart, lay it on me.”
A smile crept onto his face as he placed his phone on his chest and relaxed into his bed. For the next ten minutes you proceeded to tell Matthew everything you liked about him. You liked the way he wore bandanas to push his hair out of his face. How good he was with kids. You spent at least half of the time reminding him how hot he was when he got into fights or when he went to the gym or for just existing. You talked about how good he was at hockey and how much he cared about his family. As you came to the end of your rant you took a quick pause.
“Would you like to know what I like most about you Matty?”
“What’s that Y/N?” He said sweetly, a stupid grin plastered to his face.
“You make me smile.” Matthew couldn’t help but blush thinking about how happy you were.
“Good. I hope that’s all I ever make you do princess.” Giggling madly, you snap a picture of your smile and send it to him.
“You’re beautiful Y/N”
“Thank you.” You take a slight pause just listening to his breath. “Goodnight Matty.”
“Goodnight princess.”
Meanwhile, down in Boston the boys were out celebrating another victory. The bar they were in was packed with people and everyone was having a good time. They were all packed into two booths in the back of the bar each taking turns getting pints of beer for the tables. Auston made his way to the bar with Muz trailing close behind. As they waited to be served Aus put his head in his hands.
“What's wrong buddy?” Jake asks with a confused look on his face. Auston was never one to be stressed around the group
“I’m just worried about Y/N.”
Putting a firm hand on Austons shoulder, Jake just shrugged “Listen man I get what Chucky said was a little much but the kids always doing stupid shit like that.”
“I don’t know Jake.” He sighed as he reached for the pitcher of beer. “I did team USA with him and he broke the heart of every girl who looked his way. I don’t want that happening to Y/N ”
Jake just nodded and they headed back. Auston had good intentions but his execution wasn’t going the way he had hoped.

RPDR 13 Episode 1 RuCrap
Hello dear internet! I just started a new page for my first ever RPDR RuCrap so please share and follow and I’ll continue if they catch on! Hope you enjoy!
The lucky 13th season of RuPaul’s Trauma Spectacular launches with the promise of “all new surprises” and a brand new twist that will leave you wondering how you ever sat through a boring old premiere with a coherent intro, climax, and conclusion when you could be enduring a dizzying hour and a half of WOW presents Happy Death Day 3: Covid Edition!
We open up on the trusty trauma center - I mean Werk Room - and the first to enter is NYC’s “Dominican Doll” and human drag lingo See ‘N Say Kandy Muse in an elaborate bejeweled patchwork jean mini dress and MATCHING DENIM BOOMBOX and she immediately informs us that we may know her from the now former Haus of Aja which was recently deconstructed like the pair of Wranglers that Kandy is wearing as fingerless gloves. Kandy is no longer alone in VIP because the befeathered Joey Jay arrives and half-heartedly delivers her intro line. “Filler queen!” We discover that Kandy is likely going to provide our Greek chorus confessional this season and all in a soft smoky eye when she informs us uncultured swine that Joey is wearing the cheapest variety of feather - chicken. Kandy didn’t construct an entire outfit from the remnants section of a Joanne Fabrics and not learn a thing or two about quality, sweetie! Joey is determined to beat viewers to the punchline and immediately clucks around branding herself as “basic” and “filler.” Joey is from the city of Phoenix (and possibly the online University as well) but she’s here to rise like a chicken!
Thunder mysteriously rumbles as RuPaul appears on the digitally enhanced Werk room TV but what could this be?! For all you newbies this is one of the several instances in every season where Ru mixes things up and gives us what we really want: a twist that is equal parts confusing, fucks up the natural order of the competition, and is ultimately unfulfilling! Come on season 13, let’s put a bunch of queer people through even more turmoil in a pandemic! Ru has a surprise but they’ll have to head to the mainstage to get the full story that they’ll be recounting to a mental health professional later!
We’re merely four minutes in and here comes Ru down the runway dressed like a glitterdot jellyfish! Our tour guide on Trauma Island introduces us to the main panel of judges for the season - Disco Morticia Addams and the two human Trapper Keepers who are now separated by glass because for the first time in Drag Race herstory we’re in the middle of a international health crisis, mawma!
Now let’s get down to trauma! Ru explains that the queens will be pairing off to lipsync unexpectedly as they enter! What could possibly go wrong? Well if you’re hoping that someone comes in wearing blades on their feet well just stick around because I have quite the treat for you! Our Dungaree Diva and the Chicken Feather Filler hit the Mainstage looking as confused as Shangela researching CDC protocol on her way to Puerto Vallarta last week. The judges interview our test subjects and immediately bring up the Haus of Aja and Kandy clarifies that she’s now an esteemed member of The Doll Haus along with last season’s ever-gorgeous Dahlia Sinn. I personally prefer not to say that Dahlia was eliminated first but instead that she was season 12’s brocco-leading lady! (Writer’s note: if you’re thinking “there’s a drag show called The Doll Haus in my hometown... is it THAT Doll Haus?!” No, there’s a drag show called The Doll Haus in almost every city in America but now, like with the former Sharon Needles, Kim Chis, and Penny Trations of the world, this one’s been on TV and alas, the others must now rename themselves)! Joey also charms the judges with her plucky demeanor and it’s already time to lipsync feather they like it or not!
Gay anthem Call Me Maybe by Canadian legend Carley Rae Jepson begins and Kandy immediately pushes a fake button on her DENIM BOOMBOX to start the party. Honestly... crown her right there on the spot. We will ALWAYS give points for prop work and the Carrot Top of the Bronx does not disappoint. Both are energetic but it’s The Dutchess of Denim who wins by infusing humor and our feathered friend is given “the Porkchop” but before we can even wrap our head around what this means for the state of the competition we snap back to the Werk Room to meet our next unsuspecting victims!
Now dear reader, this is the part where I’m just going to cut the shit. The set-up they’re selling us is that the losers of these premiere lipsyncs will be eliminated from the show but they are obviously not about to Porkchop half of the cast on day one so just stick with me while we suspend disbelief and go on RuPaul’s Totally Twisted Trauma Adventure as she convinces 6 gay people who just spent upwards of $10,000 on clothing, jewelry, and hair and then meticulously packed it into regulation suitcases to travel here during a pandemic after probably not making any money for the last four months (this was filmed in July) that they are going home on day one! This herstory-making twist, like so many before it, exemplifies the show’s worst qualities: a lack of empathy for its contestants, an underestimation of viewer intelligence and ability to decode heavy-handed editing witchery, and its love for completely dismantling its own format every year for the sake of drama. Whatever keeps the Emmy’s coming, baby! When you’re on the other side of one of these twists you usually feel like you just finished your morning coffee only to find out that the barista gave you decaf. Your mind will be blown when it’s happening but the payoff is usually at the expense of the show’s own legitimacy. With that said... this is the punishment we come to gleefully endure every year and we’re not here to complain, we’re here to watch gay people break down, dammit!
It’s deja Ru all over again as we snap back to the Werk Room where Chicago’s Denali walks in on ice skates and immediately ruins any chance of a deposit return for the bumpy, rented roll-out vinyl floors and declares “Let me break the ice!” She’s wearing the expensive feathers that Joey Jay didn’t spring for. Denali might not be the first ice skater on Drag Race but she’s the one I didn’t watch shit on a dick on Twitter last week so let’s give credit where it’s due. Ugh I wish Trinity the Tuck could block THAT from my memory! Next up is Atlanta’s Lala Ri whose white blazer, body suit, and unteased hair is immediately called basic by an icy Denali in confessional. Denali is confident but we know something that she doesn’t and Lala is wearing a sensible dancing ankle boot not two blades on her feet so let’s see how this turns out!
The lipsync song is “When I Grow Up” by Nicole Scherzinger and her assistants who were accidentally given microphones a few times! Denali struggles to conceal her wayward nipples during some ambitious dance moves and all while in skates but Lala gives us a good old fashioned drag performance and a big finale split unbothered by an elaborate costume and ultimately ices Denali who signs off with “Feeling icy, feeling spicy!” Asking these queens to lipsync upon entering is one thing but asking them to improvise their exit lines 10 minutes in is just cruel!
Denali heads backstage devastated where SURPRISE... Joey Jay is sitting alone in a sad room made of plywood walls featuring a bunch of pictures of first eliminated queens, an ominous “Porkchop Loading Dock” sign, and some cocktail tables with no cocktails (how dreadful).
Before we get the full picture and God for bid our bearings on Mr Charles’ Wild Ride let’s leave this plywood hellscape and jump back into the familiar comfort of the Werk Room’s pixelated neon pink faux brick walls where LA’s modelesque Symone stomps in wearing a dress made of tiny Polaroids of herself. She’s stylish, her energy is fresh, and she’s clearly one to watch. Then dear reader life as we know it changes. A breeze comes through the room and God herself blesses us when living legend and matriarch of the Iman dynasty Tamisha Iman from Atlanta arrives in a pointy-shouldered red power suit and proclaims to us simple townsfolk “Holler at me, I know you know me. Holler at me, I know you know me. Tamisha is here!” The sea parts, the crops are replenished, and all war stops on Earth. On stage Tamisha reveals that she’s been doing drag for 30 years (which seems like a long time to us mere mortals) and that she was originally cast last season but was diagnosed with colon cancer two days later and had to stay home for chemo. The lipsync gods wisely choose The Pleasure Principle by Janet Jackson and Tamisha gives us exact Janet arm choreo while Simone is sultry yet commanding as she shakes her Polaroids. The judges determine that Simone was picture perfect and American hero Tamisha Iman is sent to Porkchop’s Shipping Crate of Horrors to join the nest with the fancy feather option and the chicken feather option.
We begrudgingly crawl back onto RuPaul’s ever-circling carousel of doom and plop back into the workroom where accomplished LA celebrity makeup artist GottMik stomps in wearing a wacky toile dress and a full face of white makeup declaring that it’s “Time to crash the system!” GottMik is Drag Race’s first trans man contestant (and first knowingly cast trans contestant at all) for which we cheer excitedly and then immediately look at our watches because that took too long. Next up Minneapolis’s towering Utica wriggles in with a sneeze and declares “She’s sickening!” which is just the pandemic humor I came here for! Contaminate me, mom! This gay scarecrow is wearing a series of crazy patterns and a big strawberry on her head and the two of them appear to be from the same traveling circus. These two Big Comfy Couch characters slink over to the main stage where Utica explains that her cranial statement fruit symbolizes tackling obstacles because she used to be allergic to strawberries as a kid but she grew out of it. In RuPaul’s heavy universe of heart wrenching struggles that contain chronic illness and societal rejection, Utica’s animated world that suffers only of outgrown childhood strawberry problems is a welcome one. These two lanky rag dolls will be lipsyncing to Rumors by her majesty Lady Lohan of Mykonos and the vibe is instantly wacky. I wouldn’t say that either of them are the next Kennedy Davenport but they did complement each other well on the invisible obstacle course they were both miming through. Utica’s hair flops over her eye, there’s galloping and floor humping, GottMik does a split, there’s elbows and knees aplenty, and all that’s missing is dancing poodles. The judges are tickled by the kookiness of both of these human windsocks but Gotmikk snatches the win. Neither of these two are going to win So You Think You Can Dance but luckily this is RuPaul’s So You Think You Can Trauma so we’re in luck!
Our homosexual Groundhog Day continues back in the Werk Room where we meet NYC’s Rosé who gets the Brita treatment where she’s presented as a legendary New York queen and then the editors quickly get to work making her look delusional. She’s accomplished, confident, and Drag Race’s favorite personality type to dismantle and then trick into returning to All-Stars for a redemption only to dismantle again. Rosé’s fresh-faced foil Olivia Lux enters and lights up the place right away in a velvet pink and yellow gown. She’s a humble NYC newby who has competed in shows hosted by the established Rosé and we already know what’s about to happen here. The lipsync is Exes and Oh’s by Elle King which which was a choice. Olivia strips off her gown to reveal a bodysuit so she can really articulate and Rosé does the world’s least exciting split that looked like me trying unsuccessfully separate wooden chopsticks. Olivia triumphs and Rosé fizzles as she heads to the It Didn’t Werk Room aka Porkchop’s sparsely decorated storage closet to be with the other Have Nots.
We’re almost to the finish line and we limp, slightly disoriented, back to the Werk Room where we meet Tina Burner, another NYC theater kid with the confidence of a thousand Patti LuPones who is dressed like a Ronald McDonald firefighter. What she lacks in nuance she makes up for in nonstop fire puns. Next Chicago’s glamorous Kahmora Hall saunters in glowing and is clearly unimpressed with Tina’s constant Joan Rivers impression but maintains a full pageant smile. No choice but to stan. Our final queen is the refreshingly optimistic Elliott with 2 T’s who busts in wearing a bolero jacket, some red pants from the store, and a short pink wig that screams “Sorry I’m late! Here’s my flash drive! I can go on whenever!” Elliott dances in sing-talking her entrance line like the TGIFriday’s server she is: “I’m the queen you want to see. Elliot with two T’s. Okay! Uh uh uh uh uh uh uh uh! Okay!” Elliot is a dancer from Las Vegas and has the unhinged camp counselor energy of someone with snacks in her purse at all times.
On the Mainstage Tina cycles through the last of her introductory fire puns and tells the judges she was in a boy band which honestly tracks. Tina and Rosé share a similar NYC gotta-get-a-gimmick energy but for some reason production has decided to give Rosé the womp womp edit and Tina the superstar edit. The song is Lady Marmalade because we haven’t been though enough and Kahmora serves subdued sexy glamour, Elliott does the splits, and Tina bobs and weaves between the two with full play-to-the-back-row comedy queen energy. Tina extinguishes the dreams of the other two and RuPaul sends the final two losers to the chokey.
The worst is over (we think) and our frazzled cast of hopefuls finally gets to know eachother in their two very different groups. The winning queens in the Werk Room are celebrating and as blissfully unaware of the doom around them as Miss Vanjie and Silky Ganache at a Puerto Vallarta circuit party during a pandemic. Over in Porkchop’s Junk Drawer the camera looms unnecessarily close to the crestfallen losers’ now disheveled wigs and sweat drenched makeup. Ru’s voice bellows over the speaker to tell this motley crew to get out and then as the last bit of light leaves their weary eyes she checks back in to tell them that she wasn’t serious! Oh good! Finally a moment of mercy for these once hopeful queens on their first day of RuPaul’s Wipeout! She then reveals that the full twist is that she is only going to send one home but they have to vote amongst the group of losers to decide who it is! Yes, that’s correct! This group of broken queens who just met and mostly have never seen eachother perform will now be expected to turn on eachother and give up their last bit of dignity to either grovel or just straight up fight with eachother! This must be what the Donner Party’s last night looked like. The queens look around broken and wounded but still hungry, their eyes barely open, their lacefronts only partially attached to their heads, and start deciding which of their own is about to get consumed. Her highness Tamisha Iman reminds them "Well, I'm the only black girl so don't vote me off” and just like that we are TO BE CONTINUED!
Thus concludes our first headspinning episode that despite being reliably frustrating has once again sucked us in and against our better judgement entertained us to the fullest! As for our 13 queens- you can use code HERSTORY on Talkspace while relaying tonite’s events to a sickening liscensed therapist!

Emmie had a big family. A really big family. Big enough that she had to triple check she brought gifts for everyone because a double-check had proven inadequate. She was one of 8 children and her aunts and uncles all had at least 3 kids as well. Annual family reunions looked more like concerts and despite having moved to Korea after her study-abroad turned into a dream job 3 years ago, she hadn’t missed a single family reunion and she refused to.
Emmie and Jungkook had been together for about a year when family reunion season came around. It was between the Europe and Asia legs of the Speak Yourself Tour which worked out really well for Jungkook who wanted to meet Emmie’s family.
Emmie had explained to Jungkook that you didn’t just meet her family, you experienced them and she wasn’t sure a family reunion would be the best idea. They’d only been dating for a year and sure she wouldn’t be the first person to bring their partner, her cousin once brought a guy she had only been dating for a month and they broke up during the barbeque. But she was still worried. She knew it would be the 3rd year where her relatives would wonder if she was secretly miserable in Korea. She knew they did it out of concern for her but that didn’t make it any less annoying and she didn’t want to throw Jungkook into that.
He insisted, however. And she agreed. Her mother was so excited Emmie thought she’d come to Korea herself to gather the couple. Her father shared similar feelings but played his ‘protective dad’ role well over the phone when she called them.
To Jungkook, this trip was an adventure. It was also a way to prove how serious he was about their relationship. He was so deeply in love and no matter how many times he said it and how many times she said it back and told him that she knew he loved her, he still felt like she didn’t really get it.
“I think my mom had to straightjacket Amber.” Emmie tells Jungkook, referring to her 15-year-old sister who was a huge fan and upon figuring out Emmie was dating THE Jeon Jungkook had done her best Mariah Carey “Emotions” whistle note only cover on the phone. And she nearly fainted when she figured out she’d be able to actually meet him and talk to him. Emmie was less than thrilled as she tried to guide her sister into not being weird around her boyfriend (“No you cannot call him Jungkook-oppa.” “Why not?” “Because it’s weird.” “But he’s my oppa…” “He’s not your-- never mind.”). She loved her sister but not this part of her.
 Jungkook laughed. “She’s that excited?”
“You have no idea. She might try to kidnap you.”
“I’m always up for a little danger to get the blood pumping.” He said as the flight attendants started their spiel on safety protocol.
Emmie had told Jungkook about her life back home. Her parents didn’t have a lot of money even before they decided to have 8 kids but they made ends meet, even if it meant small dinners and stocking up on cafeteria food at school to bring home. Bills were paid, water running, clothes on their back. They couldn’t complain. But it wasn’t great. There was still stress over paying bills and buying clothes as the children grew that carried over into their adult lives. It’s actually how Emmie started sewing, at first it was fixing holes and buttons and then sewing shirts and dresses for school.
Emmie explained that her parents named all 8 kids after jewels. Crystal, Garnet, the twins Jasper and Jet, herself Emerald, Sterling, Ruby, and Amber. They hoped that the names would serve as some sort of prophecy and it seemed to work. The 6 old enough to had gone to college or got into a trade, the two youngest were doing good in school, and 2 of them were in happy marriages.
It really did work out well. To the relief of many who worried that the couple just birthed 8 children into the poverty cycle.
The couple caught a cab to Emmie’s house after deciding that she didn’t want to settle the ongoing argument over who will go to the airport to pick them up.
“Oh my god…” Emmie said as the car pulled up to her home. Written on a banner hanging from her porch was “welcome home Emmie & Jungkook!” with some accompanying doodles she’s sure is the work of Amber. Though Jungkook found it endearing, Emmie found it embarrassing and her cheeks tinted a color similar to her hair.
“That’s so nice!” Jungkook smiled as they got out of the cab, paying the driver and grabbing their bags. They hardly had time to stretch their legs before the whole family piled out of the house and straight into a group hug that Jungkook was not expecting to be pulled into. Questions started flying from everyone’s mouth, ‘how was the plane’ ‘did you bring anything’ ‘how’ve you been’ ‘are you excited’ it reminded Jungkook of all the times he was accosted at the airport.
“One at a time, please.” Emmie huffed as her family started to release from the hug. “Can we get inside?” She asked with a laugh.
“C’mon, c’mon. I got your room all ready for ya’ll!” Emmie’s mother clapped her hands together excitedly as various siblings started grabbing suitcases.
Jungkook learned quickly that Emmie’s house was organized chaos. He wasn’t too surprised, the BTS dorms were similar in that way especially when they were younger and there were 3 less people there.
“Now, Aunt Betsy wants us over there a little early. Says she’s got some clothes she wants you to fix up and I tried to tell her you were on a vacation but you know how she is. Your father’s sister, truly.” Emmie’s mother tutted at the dinner table as food got passed around.
“It’s alright, momma.” She said truthfully. She never really took vacations anyway, she was always thinking about her job no matter how much Jungkook tried to get her to take a full break.
“Now, Jungkook.” Her mother spoke and Jungkook jerked his head up from the mashed potatoes. “I was fully planning on showing you all Emmie’s cute little baby photos--”
Emmie interjected with a gasp, “Momma!”
“--I’ve got binders full of pictures of all my children, but Miss Amber here would just die if you saw her in ‘em too.”
 “Momma!” Amber screeched.
“My god, you banshee!” Sterling, Emmie’s 21 year old brother, scolded. “You’ll make the guy lose his hearing and then how will he be able to sing, huh? Gonna sue you for damages or something, I can see the headlines now--”
“The kid’s already a tomato, Sterling, cut it out.” The eldest, Crystal pointed at her youngest sister. Emmie was trying not to laugh and she could tell Jungkook was too.
“Ya know, Amber called every damn radio station she could find trying to win tickets to your show!” Ruby, only a couple years older than Amber, chimed in.
“Really?” Jungkook’s eyebrows raised, he knew fans did a lot but he couldn’t imagine the time it took.
“Yeah! She spent more time doing that than she did on her homework.” Ruby continued.
Amber was quick to defend herself. “I wasn’t alone! You called like half of ‘em when you weren’t busy flirting with Jake from your--”
“We are not talking about that!” Ruby dropped her fork in shock.
“Whose Jake?!” All four brothers started.
 “Here we go.” Emmie groaned.
“Now, look. I got one sister married, one dating, and now I gotta worry about another with some guy named Jake? I’m driving you to school from now on!” Garnet, the second eldest said.
“Cut it out. You guys are gonna make Jungkook think we’re crazy.” Emmie’s father finally spoke up. “We should all just sit here and have a nice meal. See, Emmie’s not bickering back and forth. Being real mannered. C’mon y'all.”
“Emmie’s only quiet cause she’s trying to impress her boyfriend.” Jet scoffed.
“Hey, did Emmie ever tell you about the time when she was 8 and a girl in her class--”
 “Jasper!”
“Oh this has to be good.” Jungkook motioned for Jasper to continue.
After the evening had settled and Emmie and Jungkook had gotten ready for bed, Jungkook turned to her.
“Your family is a lot.” He said.
“Sorry.” She murmured with a sigh as she turned out the light.
“No, no. I like it. It’s nice.” He spoke with a fond smile. “I just hope I’ll fit in.” He wrapped his arm around her.
“You already do. Get some sleep, I love you.” She kissed his lips softly.
 “Love you too.”

Emmys -Hopes
1. I hope Bodyguard wins Best Drama - Richard Madden killed it (still mad he didn’t get nominated for Best Actor) Keeley Hawes is really great too! Pose or This Is Us are good options too!!!!
2. I hope Jodie Comer wins Drama Actress even though I’ve never seen Killing Eve, I’ve loved her on other projects. I’d also like to see Sandra Oh or Mandy Moore win.
3. I hope Billy Porter or Milo Ventimiglia wins Drama Actor. Look, I would’ve been happy to see Kit be nominated for season 4-5 (he had really good emotionally depth those seasons!) to see him win for season 6 (favorite Jon season). Season 7 is mind boggling to me Jon wise and season 8 is just sad.
4. I hope Sophie Turner wins Drama Supporting Actress- LOVED her in season 8. She was really amazing, Queen in the North. I wouldn’t be disappointed if Maisie won, she was really great this season. With Lena- I don’t think it was the strongest season for her character due to severely subpar writing but Lena killed it as always. She should’ve won for season 6.
5. I WANT ALFIE to win Drama Supporting Actor!!!!!!! Please!!!! Nikolaj wouldn’t be a bad alternative. But please Alfie, he’s so good!!!!
6. I hope Drama Writing goes to Bodyguard or anyone else but GoT 8x06. I would’ve nominated one of the first two episodes.
7. I’m assuming The Long Night Will win Drama Directing. Eh- I liked Battle of the Bastards and Hardhome more, oh well.

For the ask thingie: Fandom : Succession Ship : Reylo Character: Tony Stark 😎
Getting to this a bit late, sorry!
Succession
Tumblr media
Favorite character: Roman Roy, my favorite dysfunctional fuckoff.
Least Favorite character: Honestly, every character on this show is great. I really feel that. Most hated is for sure Logan. But in a love-to-hate way.
5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Roman/Gerri, Roman/Gerri/Tabitha, Tom/Greg, Marcia/Rhea, Tabitha/Willa.
Character I find most attractive: There are many women on this show who are smokin hot, and Stewy is objectively the hottest guy by far IMO, but if I am being perfectly honest about who I am most attracted to, it is Roman. I don’t even know.
Character I would marry: Tabitha, the only sane and maybe somewhat moral person. Also, she is so pretty
Character I would be best friends with: Also Tabitha.
a random thought: Kendall isn’t my favorite character, but if Jeremy Strong does not win an Emmy, so help me. His performance is utterly unbelievablely good.
An unpopular opinion: Shiv has never been a favorite of mine, though she does have the best outfits.
my canon OTP: Gerri/Roman.
Non-canon OTP: I don’t really have one, as much as just being totally interested in lots of different combos. Esp. between the women.
most badass character: GERRI.
pairing I am not a fan of: Logan/Rhea. I hope they didn’t actually sleep together.
character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): NONE THIS SHOW IS PERFECT was my first reply. But actually, I do think more could have been done with Lawrence. Maybe he’ll come back into play? But I expected him to have a bigger role in Season 2. His disdain for Kendall gives me life.
favourite friendship: How can it be anything but Tom and Greg? Though Roman and Kendall win for my favorite sibling relationship. But “friend” is not the right word.
character I want to adopt or be adopted by: Please, no. I would like to stay as far away from these people as possible.
Reylo
Tumblr media
when or if I started shipping it. TLJ. As soon as the soulbond kicked in I was a gonner. (I liked the idea in TFA, but didn’t actively ship it)
my thoughts: THEY ARE GREAT. Best canon hero/villain ship since Spuffy. I love how Rey never bent an inch for him, but still felt that connection. I love how well they fight together. Just all of it.
What makes me happy about them: That they are canon! His fucking smile when they kissed.
What makes me sad about them: That Ben is dead. It makes me sad both as a shipper, and because I think redemption via death is the least interesting way to go.
things done in fanfic that annoys me: I don’t read enough fic for them to have thoughts on this.
things I look for in fanfic: I like canon based fic when I do read it. Love me some h/c.
My kinks: Hurt. Comfort. Femdom.
Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: Kylo/Ben, no one. Rey or bust! Rey deserves to be happy though, so in a world where he is dead, I’d be happy to see her with Finn and/or Poe and/or some nice lady.
My happily ever after for them: Resurrection, somehow, and then going off to teach a new, better kind of force use together.
Tony Stark
Tumblr media
How I feel about this character: He’s the best. Top 10 favorite characters ever, for sure.
All the people I ship romantically with this character: Peter Parker. Pepper in canon, though I have some thoughts about how I don’t think they really make sense longterm. Bruce post-A1 but not really after IM3. If I weren’t so devoted to Starker Tony would probably be my fandom bicycle, but I am, so mostly it’s just Peter.
My non-romantic OTP for this character: NEBULA. Tony + Nebula BroTP forever. Though I also love Tony + Rhodey and Tony + his bots.
My unpopular opinion about this character: I think his death worked and am not bothered by it.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish he had left a video message for Peter that we got to see.
my het ship: Tony/Pepper.
my fem/slash ship: Tony/Peter.
my OTP: TONY/PETER.
my OT3: Huh. Don’t really have one. Though I’d down for Tony/Pepper/Bruce post-A1.
my crossover ship: Tony/The Tenth Doctor. I really want them to meet and snark at each other and rub each other the wrong way but also admire each other and bang one time.
my kink: Iron Man Suit kink 5ever.
a head canon fact: Part of the reason Tony has such bad boundaries with Peter/ideas about how much responsibility Peter should have is he went from nanny at 14 straight to college. He literally has no idea how teens normally transition from childhood to adulthood. None.

A/N: Another update! I was really inspired by this story this past week and I really want to get to some of the good parts with Angel and Emerson. I love writing scenes of them together and I hope that from here on out, I can build on this momentum I have.
Hope you all like this update!

============================
Emerson locked the door to her apartment, touching the lock 3 times as she always did. It’s been a month since her episode at the clubhouse and now she was plagued with dreams of Angel. The crazy thing was, it felt so real and familiar. But she figured that’s how dreams were from time to time. She did notice that Angel became much more present in her life. He came to see her often, picking up Leticia and riding alongside her before he took Letty home.
Elijah has been in Santo Padre for a month now, with no plans of leaving any time soon. It weirded her out. There were times Angel and Elijah were both at the bakery and they were very civil. Both men stayed in their respectful corners and watched every move she made, it drove her crazy.
Sitting down on her couch, she turned her television on. She needed to catch up on her shows, specifically the Punisher. It wasn’t right how addictive Netflix was.
Just as her episode was starting, there was a knock on the door. She paused the episode, making her way towards the door. She looked through the peephole and closed her eyes.
“Damn it,” she murmured.
Debating whether she should open the door, she remained quiet for a moment. She honestly did not want to deal with her younger sister tonight. The bakery was hectic due to the holiday season coming up in 2 weeks. All the orders were definitely appreciated.
Emerson opened the door. “Hey,” she greeted her. “What are you doing here?”
“Decided to visit since you don’t respond to text messages. How are you?” Sophia waited for Emerson to let her walk in. She didn’t want to push her.
Emerson moved to the side to let her younger sister in. “Good, busy with the bakery.”
“Holiday season,” Sophia nodded her head. “Is Elijah around?”
“He’s staying at Miguel’s.” Emerson offered for Elijah to stay at her apartment, she had two rooms, but he declined. She was almost certain that it was too small for him.
“I’m surprised he’s not here with you.” There was no bitterness in her voice which surprised Emerson. Usually whenever Emerson and Elijah were mentioned in the same sentence, her sister would have a fit.
“Sophia, you know whatever it was a few years ago with Elijah, it’s done.” Emerson sat on the couch once more debating if she should start the Punisher. She wasn’t interested in a conversation with her sister.
“I know,” Sophia’s tone soften. “I’m sorry, for the way I acted. I should have been understanding to your situation.”
“It’s okay Sophia, for some odd reason, I understood.” She patted the seat beside her. “Sit down.”
“Angel isn’t here?” Sophia was almost certain that Angel would worm his way back into Emerson’s life. She never liked Angel. He was a waste of space and if there was someone that Sophia would waste her time on, it would be EZ. At least he had a future.
“Why would he be? How do you know Angel?” Emerson’s eyebrows furrowed at her sister’s question. Sophia has never met Angel. It didn’t make sense.
“Elijah,” Sophia played it smooth, cursing herself at forgetting what Elijah told her.
“She doesn’t remember Angel, don’t prompt her.” Elijah had warned her.
“He mentions Angel to you?”
“Don’t be dense Emmy, whoever is around you, Elijah cares about. He seems to be threatened by Angel.” As much as Sophia didn’t like Angel, she knew pushing Elijah towards her would be a moot point. She wasn’t proud of her actions towards her sister, but Emerson got everything she wanted, even when she was disowned. How was that fair? But Sophia always realized that regardless of how she felt towards her sister, Emerson always treated her kindly. Though, Emerson was human and told her off a few times, but she deserved it.
Perfect Emerson always got everything and she reveled on the fact that Emerson became tainted when she decided to tell the family to fuck off. But at the same time, she still got praise, especially from their grandfather.
“Emerson is the strongest and bravest one out of all of my grandchildren. She doesn’t rely on that silver spoon that she was born with. I may have helped her with that bakery, but it’s all up to her whether or not it sinks or swim.” Sophia recalled overhearing her grandfather tell her father. In some ways, she agreed with her grandfather, but she was certain even if Emerson fell, their grandfather would catch her.
She worked hard too, she didn’t understand why her parents favored Emerson so much when she was the one that brought the most shame to the family. She refused to marry a family friend, whether arranged or not, out of respect for their family, she should have done it.
Then she remembered that Elijah gave her an out.
Elijah told Emerson that they didn’t have to get married, that he understood her worries due to her lost memories and that he would respect whatever decision she made.
It infuriated Sophia. She would have gladly married Elijah, why didn’t her parents marry her off?
“He has no reason to be threatened by Angel. Besides that, Elijah and I are just friends,” Emerson pointed out.
“Maybe if you keep saying it, Elijah will eventually believe it.” Sophia and Emerson laughed.
“You’re taking this Elijah talk a little too well.” She commented.
“I’m engaged.”
Emerson’s mouth dropped. “No way, to who?”
“Don’t laugh, cause I know you will.”
“It’s Derek Ramos.”
“What?! Derek? Elijah’s cousin? Wow, how did that come about?” For once, Emerson felt as if she was talking to her sister, that their relationship was normal. She knew better than to actually believe that, but she could live in this world for a bit.
“We’ve been on and off for years, I figured it would be better for my sanity and our relationship if I gave up on Elijah. I know, it’s not you, it’s mostly him, but Derek finally swept me off my feet.” Sophia wasn’t lying. When Emerson’s memories were still intact and she was with Angel, she tried her best to win Elijah over and no matter what she did, he wouldn’t sway her way. Elijah always let her down the nicest way possible, but Sophia till took offense in it.
“That’s great Sophia, Derek is a sweet guy.” Emerson was happy for her younger sister, but she was still cautious. As much as Sophia stated that she was over it, there was a possibility she wasn’t. It was precautionary matters. “What are you really doing here?”
“I just wanted to check on you, is that not an acceptable answer?”
“It is, but it’s you Sophia. I’m sorry that I sound cynical, but we haven’t had the best relationship, even after I left and broke off my engagement to Elijah.” Emerson didn’t want to lie to her younger sister. She realized that the best way to handle Sophia was to not let her have a way to twist and turn the story.
Sophia couldn’t even be angry with Emerson’s reaction to her. She hasn’t been the best sister to Emerson, her weariness was completely understandable. Sophia would like to think she has become more mature and she was hoping to prove that to Emerson. Life was short and she wanted to repair her relationship with her sister before it was too late.
“You may not believe me, which I completely understand, but I just want to repair our relationship. My actions a few years ago were uncalled for and I always commended you for being as understanding as you’ve been. Though, I wouldn’t blame you if you had slapped me.” Sophia chuckled. “Emmy, you’re my sister, regardless of how I felt about you when I was younger, I understood why our parents adored you the way they did.”
“You know it was never a competition, at least not for me. I wasn’t trying to impress our parents.” Emerson never vied for their approval as much as Sophia did, but that was partly due to the fact that she always had it. She never tried to identify with Sophia regarding her displeasement with their parents, but she was understanding towards Sophia. Regardless of how Sophia felt about her, she was her younger sister and as an older sibling, she took care of her.
Sophia felt just like Angel did when it came to him and EZ.
Emerson froze then. “What?” She shook her head, unsure of why that thought came to her head.
“Emmy, are you okay?” Sophia scooted closer to her sister, noticing the confusion etched on her face.
“Sorry, I just had this sudden thought and I’m not sure why I did.” Emerson frowned. Lately, Angel has been occupying her thoughts. Besides the fact he made his presence known, it was just odd for her how Angel kept popping into her mind. Her dreams were plague with him too, and she knew some dreams seemed real, but the ones that had Angel, they felt like forgotten memories. “Fuck,” it hit her then. “I need you to be truthful with me, is Angel part of my past?”
Sophia looked at Emerson, unsure of what to tell her. She should be truthful, she owed Emerson that much. Her loyalties lied with Emerson, she didn’t care if Elijah or her father advised her against reminding Emerson of her past with Angel Reyes. After what she did to try and hurt Emerson, she owed her for the rest of her life. She could never forgive herself for having a hand in Emerson’s accident and eventual loss of memories.
“Angel is your ex-fiance. Dad and Elijah didn’t want anyone to tell you since they wanted you to forget him. They figured that since you were a blank slate, they didn’t have to worry about Angel ruining your life and you could marry Elijah instead.” The truth hurts, especially for Elijah, but it was time that Sophia became a sister to her. Elijah never did anything for her, why should she help him?
Emerson couldn’t believe this, how could they keep her in the dark? All these people have known her all this time and they never even bothered to tell her? Though she was certain that Angel has been dying to tell her, but he respected her privacy. She felt like an idiot. Everyone knew that she didn’t have her memory yet, they never even tried telling her. Did Letty know? Well, she didn’t care if Letty knew, she knew that as much of a blunt personality Letty was, she respected boundaries. Angel most likely asked her to not say anything.
But it was the reason that Angel knew her so well.
============================
Emerson was cleaning up in the front while Letty was finishing up her poem that she was submitting tomorrow. It’s been a week since the incident in the club and to say that Angel has been around was an understatement. She wasn’t sure why he always was, but without a fail, he always kept a conversation with her and she honestly did not mind. Surprisingly, Angel was incredibly interesting to talk to, whenever he spoke, Emerson was enthralled. It was weird, but she really was.
“Emmy, where’s Coco Jr.? She should be cleaning.” Angel said as he walked in the bakery. He locked the door behind him, touching the lock thrice as she always did. “It’s good discipline.” She appreciated he caught on to that, but he was the only one to do it, not even Elijah did that for her.
“She’s in my office finishing her poem.” Emerson threw the rag in the bucket. She walked around the counter and took the tray that she would place all the dirty dishes in. There wasn’t much, but she preferred to do it all in one trip.
“I got it,” Angel took the tray from her, collecting the dishes. “Where’s Greg? Cristal?” They were Emerson’s other employees. They worked as often as Emerson, but they always seem to be gone by the way Angel got here. Greg and Cristal were Emerson’s friend’s way back when, when they heard she came back, they were ecstatic and respected his wishes regarding their past.
“They usually take the morning shift so I can stay with Letty till closing.” Emerson explained. “You don’t have to do that you know.”
“Yes, well I’m offering and I don’t do this often so feel special.” He winked at her.
Emerson laughed. “I’m flattered really. Is that what you tell other women to make them feel special?” Emerson teased him.
“No, only you,” the seriousness in his tone wiped Emerson’s smile right off her face. What did she reply to that?
Emerson just nodded her head, as she began to sweep around the area. She felt Angel’s eyes on her and she didn’t want to turn around and become lost in them.
“Do you think I’m a player?”
His question made her turn around. “You’re very popular with women.”
“That wasn’t my question.”
“Does it matter what I think?”
“Yes, yes it does.” Angel hated it when she teased him about other women. In their relationship he was devoted to her, maybe the last year and a half was difficult, but during the duration of their relationship, he never gave her the idea that he would stray. Sure, he was friendly, but he respected the boundaries Emerson set.
“Why does it?”
“Because it’s you Teddy,” Angel caught what he said and his eyes widened along with Emerson.
Emerson has never told anyone in Santo Padre that her middle name was Theodora.
Emerson Theodora Andres.
“What did you just call me?” Emerson questioned.
Angel was about to reply to her when they were interrupted by a knock on the door. They both looked that way and found Elijah. Angel has never been more thankful to see Elijah. As much as he wanted to tell her everything, it wasn’t the right time.
============================
“He called me Teddy.” Emerson breathed out.
“He’s the only person outside of our family that you had no problem with calling you Teddy.” Sophia added.
“How, fuck,” Emerson had her head in her hands. This was what Emerson feared, to meet people that was a part of her life that she had forgotten. When she was at home, she didn’t have to worry about that, she knew everyone. But she always feared she would meet people who knew her and had no recollection of them. She had a life in Santo Padre and they hid it from her.
She was absolutely infuriated.
“How long was I with him?”
“Maybe about 4 years.”
“I basically lost everything I shared with him. Oh my god,” Emerson stood up then, the heaviness of the situation sleeping through. She didn’t know what to think, everything was rapidly going through her mind. A headache was beginning to form and all she could do was pace. “I can’t believe Elijah and dad! How can they keep this from me?!”
“Emmy, you know why they did it.”
“How am I supposed to face him? This must be so difficult for him.” Emerson paused, standing in front of her sister with a coffee table between them. “What do you mean we were engaged?”
“You broke off the engagement the night of your accident.” Sophia shifted in her seat. “I think you should talk to him, it’s much better if it comes from him.”
Emerson wasn’t sure if she wanted to talk to Angel. She was absolutely fine with moving on, with not having to deal with the memories she had forgotten. But now, it changed everything. Angel, most likely the whole M.C. knew her, and they accepted her with open arms. She owed Angel, she should talk to him, she just wasn’t ready to do so.
============================
Angel turned off his motorcycle and looked over at Elijah who was leaning against the hood of his car. He was surprised that Elijah contacted him. Since Elijah decided to stay in Santo Padre, Elijah has stayed away from him, only interacting when they saw one another at Emerson’s shop.
He walked over to Elijah, the sleeves of his dress shirt already rolled to his elbow.
“What’s going on?” Angel questioned.
“Emerson knows.” Elijah wanted to get straight to the point. He didn’t want to waste Angel’s time.
“What do you mean she knows?”
“She knows about your past, to some extent.”
“Sophia told her.” Angel knew seeing Sophia a few nights ago wouldn’t lead to anything good.
“How did you know?” Elijah questioned.
“I was outside of Emerson’s place one night and I was going to talk to her, but Sophia came.” Angel began to worry, not sure how much Sophia told Emerson. “How much does she know?”
“Just the basics,” Elijah shoves his hands in his pockets. “She doesn’t know about you and Sophia.”
“I’m guessing she’s not speaking to you.” As much as Angel wanted to be smug about this, but he couldn’t. If she remembered everything, he would be on her shitlist too, much more than Elijah.
“That’s one way of putting it, she’s just upset that I’ve decided to hide such a big part of her past,” Elijah chuckled. “Specifically you. She felt that I betrayed her trust.” He understood why Emerson was upset, he just wished Sophia kept her mouth shut, but he knew she was trying to make amends either. “It’s just interesting that Sophia decided to not throw you under the bus, though I’m sure it has more to do with covering her own ass.”
“Yep,” Angel sighed. “I wanted to tell Emerson, I’m not happy that Sophia decided to open her mouth. Is this supposed to wash away her sins against her sister?”
“Sophia is getting married, she wanted to fix her relationship with Emerson before it’s too late.”
“She’s leaving everything in my hands?”
“Of course she is, but never count Sophia out, she may still backstab you.” Elijah advised.
“No doubt about that,” Angel chuckled. “So why are you giving me a heads up? I figured you wouldn’t want to help me.”
“I always tell you, Reyes, I can accept defeat when I see it. Though you haven’t won, I like it to be a even playing field. I’m just giving you a heads up that she knows, the ball is in your court.”
“Is that so?” Angel smirked. “I think this might have been the biggest mistake for you.”
“Well, I’m sure once you tell Emerson that you slept with her sister, the ball will be back in my court.”

ch. 1 | ch. 2 | ch. 3 | ch. 4 | ch. 5 | ch. 6 | ch. 7
Summary + a/n: Here is my Bechloe week submission! It will be a seven-chaptered fic, detailing Beca and Chloe’s relationship in this famous!au I’ve constructed for them.
Beca and Chloe are both famous in their own right: Beca is an up and coming musician. Chloe is an adored movie and television actress. They meet one day, by chance, and find themselves very attracted to each other.

Chapter 1: high hopes
Beca Mitchell enjoys a love-hate relationship with the press.
On one hand, she knows it’s necessary for her career. On the other, she never quite knows exactly how to interact with interviewers - or at least, how to be particularly charming.
Despite her general lack of propensity for the charm and interview etiquette, she somehow manages to make it through her day-to-day responsibilities without too many hiccups. She enjoys that her publicist leaves her alone for the most part. She has a few rules here and there, which really, aren’t too bad because Beca kind of just wants to keep her head down anyway.
Something that Beca can say she loves about her career, however, is the sheer amount of attractive people that she meets on a day-to-day basis.
She’s had her fair share of celebrity crushes, but more importantly, they’ve been reciprocated more often than not.
Unfortunately, it would appear, to her publicist, that it is in her own best interest to keep her relationships underwraps, so Beca chooses to just enjoy the fact that she’s single, as far as anybody’s concerned.
Beca can’t believe how many people equally want to keep their dating history and/or sexualities under wraps, but she’s not really complaining. It gets her through the day.
It’s something that isn’t a necessarily a problem for Beca, that is, until she meets Chloe Beale.
Beca has never been quite so attracted to somebody before and the fact is, they just click. They meet at an afterparty for the Golden Globes for the first time and Beca thinks that Chloe might be flirting with her, but under the haze and dim lights, she’s not quite sure.
They share one dance, alcohol and adrenaline making their bodies move a bit more sensually than what Beca might deem appropriate for public appearances, but at that moment, with Chloe, she doesn’t necessarily care. She feels like she can breathe for the first time in years, since entering the hellhole that is Hollywood and the entertainment industry.
When it comes time for Beca to leave, lest she does something she knows she’ll regret like...kiss Chloe or something, she does so with a squeeze to Chloe’s forearm and an apology on her lips.
To her surprise, Chloe pulls her into a hug.
“Nice to meet you,” Chloe murmurs, tightening her grasp. “I’ve heard so much about you. I’m happy to meet the face behind the name, finally.”
Beca almost wants to ask what Chloe has heard exactly, maybe something along the lines of whether Chloe has heard only good things, but-
“Oh,” she replies articulately, when she pulls back. “I, uh, same,” she manages to say. She has never noticed quite how blue Chloe’s eyes are, and all she can do is stare for a few seconds longer than strictly necessary. Chloe’s bone structure is crazy. Beca kind of wants to touch Chloe’s face or something. She chalks it up to the alcohol.
Chloe kisses her on the cheek, letting her lips linger - or maybe Beca’s mind is working in slow motion.
She does find Chloe’s number tucked into her clutch, written on a piece of paper with a smudged lipstick kiss at the corner.
Understandably, it all spirals into a fast friendship from then on.
Chloe Why are you so talented?! I’m just casually texting my radio station to request your song again. Just once more should do it.
Beca I swear you single-handedly sent me to #1 lmaooo
Chloe What can I say? I have good taste.
It makes sense in some respects - Chloe is an actress, starring in some popular Netflix series - one that just picked up a couple Emmy nods and Golden Globes over the award season. Even though she’s just part of another prong in the industry, Beca supposes they would have worked professionally together in some aspect sooner or later since she heard that Chloe has dabbled in singing from time to time.
Prior to the Golden Globes, Beca had heard of Chloe, vaguely, but never had the chance to interact with her. At least, not in a professional sense. That is, until the director for her upcoming music video informs her that they’ve decided to cast Chloe.
Beca approves in a heartbeat because she has been dying to see Chloe in person again, but their respective schedules just mean that they haven’t had time to hang out. Chloe is so pleasant and fun to talk to via text message and sporadic phonecalls, but Beca craves something a little more physical. Besides, Chloe is pleasant, talented, and, well, Beca has eyes.
Chloe is attractive as hell.
She’s kind of excited to see her again in the daylight.
“Hi,” Beca greets, shaking Chloe’s hand once she arrives on set. The California sun bears down on them unforgivingly, but Beca thinks Chloe looks beautiful, a little flushed, but dressed casually in jean shorts and a red and blue t-shirt. Her eyes light up when she takes in Beca, unabashedly giving her a quick once-over.
Chloe laughs, light and pleasant. “Come on, Bec. I don’t do handshakes. Hug?” she asks. Beca only laughs and meets Chloe halfway, allowing her to pull their bodies together in a warm embrace.
“How have you been?” Beca asks, quickly stuffing her hands in her pockets when she finds that she doesn’t want to let go of Chloe’s waist.
“Good, just working here and there. I had my agent put my name down for this shoot when I first heard about it. I hoped name-dropping you would bump me to the front of the list.”
“That eager to see me again, huh?” Beca replies quickly, finding her tongue suddenly unstuck.
“Well, I mean, you weren’t going to ask me to hang out, so…”
It makes Beca take pause, because Chloe’s tone is flirtatious if she has to describe it. “We’ve both been busy!” Beca exclaims, letting out a laugh.
“Yeah, sure, tell yourself that.” Chloe smiles, however, to let Beca know she means it all in jest. “I’m actually really excited we’re going to work together, finally. You’ll have to let me know if the acting bug ever comes to find you.”
Beca shudders at the thought. “I absolutely don’t think that’ll happen in this lifetime, but how about you keep me in mind if you want to work on a song together one day? I heard that one musical movie you were in. I like your voice.” Beca forces back her own blush at how absolutely nerdy that sounded.
Chloe’s smile is warmer. “One day. I like the sound of that.” She stares at Beca for a moment longer. “Well, I’m going to go finish my make-up, but I’ll see you in a bit!” Chloe giggles. “Also, I’ve never been to Disneyland before, so this is a treat.”
Chloe’s laugh still rings in Beca’s ear that it takes her a while to respond. “You’ve never been to Disneyland?”
Chloe’s voice echoes back to her as she walks backwards, still grinning radiantly at Beca. “There’s a first time for everything!”
Beca can only laugh disbelievingly. She’s still not quite sure what she did to be blessed with Chloe’s presence in her life.
PEOPLE Magazine
Chloe Beale and Beca Mitchell are FRIENDLY on the set of a new Music Video!
Shooting Mitchell’s new video last Friday, the two were seen hanging out during a lunch break at Disneyland to a lot of fanfare. They took photos with a few groups of fans before grabbing food to go. Eyewitness accounts say that the two were friendly, immersed in their own conversation.
Beale is known for her starring role in Netflix’s The Boss, which recently picked up five Emmy Award nominations and two Golden Globe wins. Mitchell is working on her second album, working off the success of her first album. Her single “FRIENDS” is her latest release.
The two were first seen together about six months ago during a Golden Globes after party.
See photos from Mitchell’s Disney-inspired music video set here!
Chloe So, we’re gonna do that again, right?
Beca Do what? Disneyland?
Chloe Yes, but this time, without the cameras. I want the full experience!
Beca It’s a d-
Beca bites her lip, quickly slamming the backspace key.
Beca you’re on, beale.
They do end up hanging out again, now that their schedules are a little less hectic. Chloe primarily films during the summer and beginning of fall more rigorously than she does the rest of the year. Beca isn’t really focused on much except the finishing the touches to her album.
They’re not...dates, per se, but they’re verging just beyond friendship. Beca enjoys spending time with Chloe, but she’s conscious of her publicist’s instructions that she keep everything tigh=tlipped and outside of the public eye, particularly since she’s still working on her own blossoming career.
All Beca hears is “stay in the closet” and it makes her hackles rise.
Still, she enjoys hanging out with Chloe - Chloe who has always lived a very public, carefree life, under the media microscope.
Chloe has become one of Beca’s closest friends, and with the speed at which Hollywood moves, Beca’s sure that Chloe is her best friend at this point. She finds herself texting her nonsensical things about fame, being a celebrity, and bounces song ideas off her. Similarly, Chloe texts her the latest updates about drama on set, her arguments with her director, and crazy fan encounters.
Above all, Beca thinks that it’s nice to share her life with somebody, even if it is in a friendship capacity. She tries not to let her mind wander too far.
Now, they’re sitting in a quiet corner at a cafe near Beca’s house. It’s a quiet Thursday afternoon, therefore there is less foot traffic.
Beca grumbles at small blind item on a gossip rag website that seems to be directed at her-slash-is about her.
She thinks that her sexuality isn’t too much of a secret, but she is careful to ensure that nothing ever really gets out because she’s still concerned with her own image as much as the next person.
It oddly feels like she’s in high school again, or even university. Where she was so concerned with what her own father thought about her choices and how she presented herself to her peers and community.
Becoming a famous musician was never really in her books, especially not with all the discouragement she received growing up, but she supposes stranger things have happened.
“You shouldn’t care so much about what people think,” Chloe murmurs, stirring her tea slowly. She watches Beca carefully.
“Not everybody can live like you,” Beca says before she can help herself. Chloe’s long history of dating flashes through her mind.
Chloe scoffs. “It’s just part of the job, sometimes. You know how it is. I just try to be as transparent as I can.” She looks concerned, then. “I’m just worried about you,” she says quietly. “You seem really...sad, sometimes and I don’t know how to help you.”
“You can’t help me,” Beca says quietly. “I don’t need help. I’m fine, like this. I can leave a perfectly fulfilling life.”
Chloe pauses, like she’s afraid to spook Beca if she speaks too quickly. “Then...why haven’t you asked me out?”
“What makes you think...I would...ask you out?” she asks, stiltedly.
Chloe blinks, like she’s surprised at Beca’s reaction. Like she’s surprised that Beca would have had any other reaction than passive acquiescence.
Beca hates simultaneously how calm Chloe is and how right she is in assessing Beca’s attraction to her. She bristles under how easily Chloe can read her, even after such a short period of time. Some of her own friends and family still struggle to break down her walls.
“Do you want me to ask you out?” Chloe asks, after a long silence.
“No! I don’t...I can’t,” Beca mutters. She pushes her mug away, not feeling like drinking coffee anymore - not when her entire body is thrumming. “You know I can’t date you publicly,” she mumbles.
Chloe looks down, a brief sadness passing over her face as she contemplates Beca’s words. “I don’t mind keeping it a secret,” she says quietly. “For you, if that’s what you need.”
It occurs to her then that Chloe legitimately likes her for some reason that Beca can’t fathom.
Another thing that flashes through Beca’s mind is how terrible it would be to keep somebody as beautiful and precious as Chloe a secret.
Still, her mind flashes to all her work, down the drain, because she believes the world isn’t ready to see that on some level.
“I don’t date, you know I don’t,” Beca says, defenses rising.
“I don’t care about your history, Bec,” Chloe says patiently. “You know that.”
“Who said anything about my history?”
Chloe glances away. “I’m sorry, forget I said anything. I didn’t mean to bring it up.”
Beca’s not exactly sure that she can believe it was an accident, but she’s a master of leaving everything as buried under the surface as possible, whenever she can.
It’s how she’s always lived; it’s how she has always been told to live.
Chloe I shouldn’t have said anything. I’m really sorry.
Beca Yeah. I’m sorry for freaking out. That’s just how I am.
Chloe I’m not going to force you into something you’re not comfortable with. That would be wrong of me. I hope we can still be open with each other, though.
Chloe ...still friends?
Beca blinks. She can’t imagine not having Chloe in her life, after everything.
Beca yeah. Friends, Chlo. Always.
They don’t talk as frequently after that particular day, and they definitely don’t see each other in person again until the People’s Choice Awards in November.
Beca is attempting to follow her interviewer’s line of thought - some question about her album release date and potential tour - when she’s distracted by Chloe’s presence. Immediately, she hears the fans screaming for Chloe’s name and she wills herself not to turn, but she smells her, which only makes her groan at how big her stupid crush is.
“Hi!” Chloe says from behind her. “Beca,” she greets. Beca smiles at her interviewer before turning to greet Chloe with a kiss on the cheek or some other formal red-carpet greeting when she meets Chloe’s lips...with her own.
Her entire brain short circuits.
She is aware of two things.
First, that Chloe’s lips are impossibly soft and gentle and slightly parted, like she was going to live a slightly open-mouthed kiss on Beca’s cheek.
Second, that she responds almost instinctively and Chloe equally seems like she isn’t keen to immediately pull back.
Beca does, however. She jolts back and lets out a short laugh to cover up her shock.
Her publicist looks like she’s torn between looking shocked and furious.
There are cameras clicking all around them.
“Oh my God,” Chloe says immediately. She looks stricken and apologetic, before her face morphs and she’s immediately laughing it off, and tugging at Beca’s hand like they’ve been friends for years. “I can’t believe that happened!” she exclaims, turning towards the interviewer and camera to play it off. “I - I’ll see you inside, Bec.” She squeezes Beca’s hands once, in reassurance.
Beca exhales, trying to force a semi-believable smile on her face.
“So,” the interviewer begins. “You and Chloe are friends, huh?”
God, where does she even begin.
Beca finds Chloe in the washroom during a commercial break. She had been keeping an eye out, meticulously (and as surreptitiously as possible) scanning the crowd and rows of audience members. She ignores the persistent buzzing of her phone, likely texts from Jennifer, pushing into the bathroom with shaking hands.
“Hey Beca,” Chloe says, catching sight of Beca through the mirror. Her casualness and friendliness throws Beca off. “Congrats on the nomination. I didn’t get to say so earlier.”
“You too,” Beca says distractedly. “Okay, we’re not going to talk about how you kissed me, then?” Beca asks, trying to keep her tone light.
Chloe laughs, drying her hands. “You mean how you kissed me? In public of all things.” She grins, a little wryly. “I thought you weren’t about airing your personal life in public?”
“Okay, first, you definitely kissed me,” Beca says, unsure why she’s making such a huge deal about all of this.
She feels odd, like something in her is clawing, trying desperately to get out.
Chloe sighs, turning softer eyes towards Beca. “It was an accident, Bec,” Chloe says gently, tilting her head. “I didn’t mean to startle you and you just happened to turn your head when I was going for your cheek. I’ll settle for a hand on your shoulder next time, I promise.” She puts her hand on the door, intent on pushing it open. “For the record though, you definitely kissed me back, but I’m willing to forget about it if you want.”
“Chloe, wait,” Beca starts, immediately feeling regret rush through her. “I’m sorry, I-”
She’s not sure where that sentence was intended to go. She’s not sure what’s going to happen in the next few moments.
She’s sure that she wants to kiss Chloe again.
Maybe it’s something in her eyes, but Chloe beats her to it - or maybe she read Beca’s mind. She cups Beca’s cheeks and presses their lips firmly together, like it’s the most natural thing in the world for them. Like it’s the culmination of this little dance they’ve been doing around each other for the past year.
Chloe smells vaguely of strawberries and her lips taste sweet, like peaches. Beca tilts her head, hands moving to Chloe’s waist, touching soft silk and bare skin. She feels like she’s kind of memorizing these little parts of Chloe, even if she’d like to deny herself the opportunity in the future.
Still, this is now and now, Beca’s focusing on the soft touch of Chloe’s lips against her and the gentle pressure Chloe exerts.
Beca isn’t sure when her eyes fell closed, but she’s just hoping that this isn’t some kind of fever dream because kissing Chloe is everything she imagined and more.
“Oops,” Chloe says softly, just as Beca’s eyes flutter open.
“Was that another accident?” Beca asks quietly, reaching her hands up to hold Chloe’s hands in place against her cheeks. She likes how secure she feels in Chloe’s presence.
“If you want it to be.”
Beca figures that accidents can happen in threes, as she leans up again.

You are very quiet recently Lulu. I hope everything is OK? You aren't leaving this fandom are you?
Hi anon, thanks I’m doing well lol. No I won’t leave this fandom. What makes you think of that? I just take this quiet time/hiatus to enjoy some new shows and have some fun. My recent encounter with Bodyguard surprisingly makes me refind the simple and pure happiness when I started to watch Outlander three years ago.
I love Julia and David so much and I can discuss the clues and details of their relationship with other fans for hours. In real life the two actors get on really well too. I especially enjoy Keeley Hawes’ great acting and I’m watching The Durrells now. It’s very good.
It makes me feel so relieved that Ms. Keeley Hawes: 1) has been happily married ‘Mr. Darcy’ for a long time; 2) has had three kids; 3) has achieved a great reputation with tons of shows waiting for me to watch. I expect I won’t have to experience the same rumor, bitterness and hatred toward the star I like as I experienced here.
Anon, you know what? It feels good to make a change. And I think my mind is opened more during these days. I often think of Caitriona when I look into Keeley’s news and interviews. She’s not active on social media even now Bodyguard is such a hot topic (one of her tweets have more than 40K likes) and she never wins a BAFTA or GG or Emmy etc., but she can still have a very fruitful life as an actor. She has been playing so many fantastic and very different chacters in TV shows and theater. She’s very hard-working and busy person. She doesn’t have to have a perfect bodyshape or hairstyle or always look like in twenties. Now she has just achieved another breakthrough in her forties.
I really ‘envy’ her life experience. Looking at Keeley, I feel like our fandom is so harsh on Caitriona by criticizing everything and every move of her. Now it feels more and more like a heavy burden on her and on fans like me. The other day I said I wish Caitriona could work with Keeley one day. I really do. I hope they can become good friends and Caitriona can have a similar professional life track as Keeley’s – a very solid career and a full life as an actor. That would be such a blessing to her fans like me.

50 things to be thankful for in 2018
Tumblr media
There's no denying 2018 has absolutely tested our patience, but it turns out the year hasn't been complete trash.
Beyond some of the most important aspects of life like your loved ones and your health, 2018 has truly given us a lot of good. From social justice initiatives like Time's Up and March for Our Lives, to pop culture masterpieces like Queer Eye, Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again, and "thank u, next," the year had its share of hopeful, joyous, entertaining, and positive moments.
So when times get tough and it feels like there's not much to be happy about in the world, here are 50 things to be thankful for.
SEE ALSO: The internet's best tips for how to be kind on World Kindness Day
1. Time's Up launched. 2018 started off strong with a group of more than 300 women in the entertainment industry coming together to form Time's Up — an initiative dedicated to standing up against sexual harassment.
I stand with women across every industry to say #TIMESUP on abuse, harassment, marginalization and underrepresentation. ⁰@TIMESUPNOW https://t.co/4zd5g2ByU0 pic.twitter.com/0h8ojLOq9U
— kerry washington (@kerrywashington) January 1, 2018
2. Laverne Cox made history on the cover of Cosmo. In January, actress and producer Laverne Cox also made history as the first ever trans covergirl for Cosmopolitan Magazine. Cox graced the cover of Cosmo South Africa's February issue.
3. The Fab Five came into our lives. It may feel like Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, Karamo Brown, Bobby Berk, and Antoni Porowski have been inspiring us all to eat, dress, groom, self-love, and decorate to the best of our abilities for a lifetime, but Netflix's Queer Eye reboot only premiered in Feb. 2018.
4. Drake's "God's Plan" music video. Remember pre-Meek Mill beef when Drake gave away nearly one million dollars and filmed himself doing all those good deeds like paying for people's groceries? That was nice!
5. The Parkland teens. Though 2018 was full of an unfathomable amount of tragedy and gun violence,  the year also inspired a heartwarming amount of youth activism in America. After the deadly Parkland shooting in February, a group of teen survivors from the Florida high school shooting has consistently stood up to government officials and publicly advocated for gun control.

This year alone they've formed March for Our Lives, led school walkouts, inspired others (both young and old) to register to vote and protest gun violence, and even inspired the Obama's to write a heartfelt entry in the Time 100 issue.
6. Mirai Nagasu landed a triple axel. The Winter Olympics also took place this year! There were many standout moments but Mirai Nagasu absolutely slayed, making history by becoming the first U.S. woman to land a triple axel in the Winter Olympics. Thankful we got to witness this moment.
7. Black Panther came out. We were truly blessed this year by the arrival of the record-breaking Marvel's cinematic masterpiece, Black Panther, and the talented actors, fierce as hell soundtrack, and on-screen representation it brought to our world.
8. Jordan Peele's Oscar win. Speaking of movies, Peele's film Get Out won "Best Original Screenplay" this year, making him the first black screenwriter to receive the award.
9. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate wait is almost over. The highly anticipated video game is set to come out for Nintendo Switch on Dec. 7.
10. Beto O'Rourke. 2018 was the year of Beto, burgers, and a Beyoncé midterms endorsement.
We just want to say thank you to everyone who made this possible. Everyone who made us feel hopeful, everyone who inspired us. Everyone who became the most amazing campaign we could have ever hoped to belong to. Grateful that we got to do this with you. We love you. Goodnight! pic.twitter.com/1j6JnhtP0f
— Beto O'Rourke (@BetoORourke) November 7, 2018
11. A Quiet Place. John Krasinski directed and starred in a horror film alongside his IRL wife that was so quiet and terrifying people were too nervous to eat snacks in theaters. What a time to be alive.
12. Kendrick Lamar won a Pulitzer. Remember when the rapper was awarded the 2018 Pulitzer Prize in Music for his fourth studio album, DAMN? Hell yeah!
13. Beyoncé at Coachella. Beychella was THIS YEAR. We knew she would slay but nothing prepared us for the sheer magnitude of her powerhouse performance, or Destiny's Child, or the movement she inspired.
14. The Royal Wedding. When the world needed a distraction from the bad and an escape from reality, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were there for us. And for that we thank them.
15. Brooklyn Nine-Nine was saved. For several terrible, horrible, no good, very bad hours Brooklyn Nine-Nine was cancelled. But thankfully, after a whole lot of love from fans, NBC picked it up for a sixth season.

16. Won't You Be My Neighbor reminded us of Mr. Rogers' magic. We needed a heavy dose of Fred Rogers' pure and wholesome goodness to get us through the year and this film did just the trick.
17. Ava DuVernay made history. DuVernay's adaptation of A Wrinkle In Time led her to become the first black woman to direct a film that grossed more than $100 million at the box office.
18. The world is finally taking action against plastic pollution. Plastic straw bans are spreading across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Businesses like McDonald's and Starbucks are even getting on board the movement.
19. We still have dogs. No matter how bad things get we still have furry companions to turn to, and play with, and occasionally throw cheese on.
20. Eighth Grade filled us with middle school anxiety. Bo Burnham's Eighth Grade reminded adults how stressful growing up can be and gave teens an emotional look at middle school through a more relatable lens.

21. Crazy Rich Asians was a smashing success. The film dominated box office sales and served as an important milestone for Asian representation in American pop culture. And guess what? It's getting a sequel.
22. Mamma Mia 2: Here We Go Again! Love. Pregnancy. Death. Flashbacks. Dancing. Singing. Abba. Meryl. Cher. Andy García. Help!
23. Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra. 2018 has seen the rise (Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin) and fall (Ariana and Pete) of celebrity relationships. But through the ups and downs of the year Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra's love never seemed to waiver. We're thankful this nice, soon-to-be-wed couple is here to restore our faith in love.
24. LeBron James opened up a school. The NBA star opened his "I Promise" school in Akron, Ohio, to give 240 third and fourth grade students a life-changing educational opportunity.
25. To All The Boys I've Loved Before captured our hearts. Netflix introduced the world to the film adaptation of Jenny Han's young adult book and after Peter Kavinsky's "woah woah woah," our hearts will never be the same. Not to mention it inspired dozens of Lara Jean Halloween costumes.

26. That quirky, super high-maintenance cat was adopted. Remember Bruno, the thicc, polydactyl cat that Wright Way Rescue Animal Shelter in Morton Grove, Illinois, was trying to find a home? He found one :').
27. A sixgill shark was discovered. This is cool because most sharks have five gills. It's also a reminder that we should be thankful for oceanographers, researchers, and all those who explore the our vast and mysterious oceans.
28. India strikes down gay sex ban. On Sept. 6, members of India's Supreme Court unanimously voted to make the landmark ruling that eliminates the ban on consensual gay sex.
29. Moth memes lit up our lives. The year was filled with good memes but those moth/lamp memes? Pure joy.
30. Amy Sherman-Palladino and all those Emmys. Amy Sherman-Palladino has always been genius. Gilmore Girls? Bun Heads? Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life? It's about time she's properly celebrated, so we're thankful The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won four Emmys. We are also thankful for her husband, Dan Palladino.

31. Twitter did one good thing. We have no edit button and there's still bots and harassment a-plenty, but at the very least, Twitter brought back the chronological timeline.
32. Gritty came into our lives. Can anyone even remember a world without the Philadelphia Flyers' new hairy orange mascot?
33. The Office is back ... sort of. While fans of the NBC comedy are still holding out hope for a revival, 2018 treated those nostalgic for the days of Dunder Mifflin to a charming off-broadway musical.
34. Speaking of The Office — be thankful for Steve Carell. He stars with Timothée Chalamet and Amy Ryan (Holly Flax) in Beautiful Boy. He's got Welcome to Marwen coming out, which looks, uh interesting. He's on SNL. And he's making his triumphant return to television!
35. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper gave us life. A Star Is Born came out this year, along with a kickass soundtrack and some perfect memes. We will never be the same.
youtube
36. Fat Bear Week ran our lives for 7 days. Much love to all the fat bears out there who distracted us for an entire week just by living their lives.
37. This throwback baked potato costume. Halloween costumes are great but this throwback baked potato get-up really made us smile.
38. Thankful for the hot duck in Central Park. We thought we lost him, but he's back again. <3
39. We have a new anthem: "Party For One." How did Carly Rae Jepsen know we were in desperate need of a song to dance in our underwear and eat a large pizza alone to? And the music video! UGH!
40. And there's no musical praise without discussing Ariana Grande. The warrior of 2018, Ariana Grande, has given fans so much love, inspiration, and hope throughout the year. Not to mention, the ultimate independent BOP: "thank u, next."
i’m so ..... fuckin ..... grateful
— Ariana Grande (@ArianaGrande) November 11, 2018
41. BDE came to be. Speaking adjacently of Pete Davidson, for better or worse 2018 also gave us Big Dick Energy and that's something we'll never forget.
42. Netflix still delivers. Netflix has an entertaining social media presence and continues to create quality original shows and movies.
43. There was an increase in voter turnout. 2018 proved Americans are standing up for what they believe in and exercising their right to vote. Voter turnout for midterm elections reached a 50-year high, and young people voted at historic rates.
44. Midterm results showed a refreshing amount of diversity. It was a night of historic firsts — from over 100 women elected to Congress (the highest number ever) to wins for the LGBTQ community and more.
45. The Detective Pikachu trailer looks delightful. Another cute as hell movie to look forward to? Yes please.

46. Cher's Twitter is hilarious. Twitter is sometime awful but not Cher's account. That's always good.
47. All of the books. The world has so many books just waiting to be read — books for when you're mad at the patriarchy, books for hikers, books all about pride. And some great books written this year.
48. All of the great TV shows. Streaming aside, there are dozens of phenomenal shows airing on television this year, like Superstore, The Good Place, This Is Us, Killing Eve, and more.
49. Sports are still a thing! We've got football, we've got soccer, we've got basketball, baseball, hockey, and so many more. Sports bring people together!
50. All the people working to keep others safe, informed, and up-to-date with the news. It's been a tough year for news, mass shootings, and natural disasters, which is why we're thankful for all the hard working journalists, reporters, news anchors, first responders, weather forecasters, and hurricane scientists.
So remember: No matter how bad things may seem there are always some bright spots in the world.

My Thoughts on Grand Prix Helsinki 2018 (Ladies SP and Ice Dance RD)
LADIES
the announcer is REALLY enjoying his job and i’m here for it
i love hearing the loudest cheers for the home country girls, emmi and viveca. this helsinki crowd in general is just amazing. they’re so supportive of every skater whenever they fall.
i saw on twitter that daria panenkova’s last name in finnish - “panen kovaa” means “i fuck hard” and i couldn’t stop thinking about it
i was watching the stream on my laptop and the loud sirens of rika hongo’s music started playing and my sister in the room went “wait someone’s skating to that???” love her energy though, it was a nice change of pace
loena hendrickx’s spins are so fast and so centered and her flexibility !!! queen of spins. i’m glad she was able to bag that well-deserved bronze sp medal. I can see her really becoming a huge podium contender in the next few years
as much as i love alina, i think her team really let her down with this short program. It was so hard to be engaged in the program when each song would last for about 10 seconds and then glass-shatter-transition into the next one. It’s unfair for people to say alina doesn’t emote during her programs and really feel the music when she doesn’t really have the opportunity to do it. an uncharacteristic pop on her combo but nothing too drastic. i haven’t seen her carmen fs in full but i’m positive it’s the stronger of her two programs so she should be fine
my stream died just as stanislava’s program started and then came back on just as she ended so i didn’t see anything from her program...but that’s a nice dress and she looks so good
my heart was just broken for kaori. she looked so good on the warmup. her flow on the ice was just so smooth and effortless. it was painful seeing her after her performance. it takes a lot of spirit to be able to keep yourself from breaking down when you still have half a program to complete, so big props to her. i have confidence that she can make a comeback from 7th to podium. if zhenya could do it then so can she. stay strong kaori!
i have to say my winner for best performance of this event has to go to yuna shiraiwa. i didn’t know who she was going into this but she wasn’t just the cleanest, she also had this genuine joy on her face while she was skating. so effortless and so fun to watch. if she pulls out a solid and clean free skate, she can finish on the podium.
ICE DANCE
i’m really not a huge fan of the genre the isu chose for this year’s rhythm dance. the latin one last year left so much room for each team to be able to have their own style, but with tango, it’s just so difficult to stand out. also, isn’t it quite unfair for brother-sister teams? no wonder the shibs decided to sit this one out
i’m getting a BIG liza tuktik energy from betina popova with their similar attitude on the ice and even their similar physical features. it’s her birthday btw, happy birthday betinka!
i was shocked to see that anthony ponomarenko was only 17...not with that mustache sir
oof guignard and fabbri getting screwed by the music guy not once but twice...anyway, i’m just glad it wasn’t another bird and that the interruption was before their program started and not smack in the middle
i love hurtado/khaliavin so much and really want them to succeed. i first saw them in the olympics and there was just something that drew me in amongst even the more established ice dance teams. sara just has this fire in her that not only is so evident in her fabulous facial expressions, but also in the way she moves on the ice. kirill has these sort of goofy facial expressions but they’re very cute and endearing, and the both of them combined just feels so cheerful and i get such a positive energy when they skate. the rhythm dance was good but not as hard hitting as their santana short dance from last season that initially drew me into them. it has room to grow. i’m going to really be rooting for them in the free. vamos sara and kirill!
wow. alexandra stepanova and ivan bukin. this team. i have to admit, i didn’t pay much attention to them before but this season...there’s just something different and it’s not just the fact that they’re probably russia’s number 1 ice dance team right now. their movements are just SO BIG and SO EXTENDED and SO POWERFUL. not only that but both of them are so into the characters they’re playing i just didn’t want the program to end. this has to be my pick for no.1 ice dance team this season. i know they probably aren’t regarded as one of the top 3 teams but they just have something special that i can’t really find a connection to with other teams. they’re the total package and i hope they win worlds

☁️For Bee if you want! ( but if u can't think of much since they haven't interacted a lot then Bill is fine instead! )
send ☁ for 3 adjectives my muse associates with yours. - No longer accepting
“Alright Rick, Lets continue.” The interviewer shuffles his question cards “How about your ‘Dad’“ he makes air quotes as he says it “if you can believe the tabloids anyway..”
Rocker laughs as he picks up his drink “the only thing they’ve ever gotten right.”
“So you’ve told us, though you’ve always been a bit hazy on the details…” He purposely draws the last word out hoping the musician will take the bait.
“A tradition I hardly intend to break today.” The rock star answers sternly. He’s not about to explain to a studio audience and thousands of television viewers he was ‘adopted’ by the demon because of a Daddy kink gone paternal.
The interviewer exaggerates his disappointment. “Ah well, wouldn’t be the Emmy winning reporter I am if I didn’t ask.” The audience claps.
The musician laughs “Oh yes, tell me more about your one Emmy as I polish my 14 Grammys.” He rolls his eyes.
A member of the crowd calls out ‘aww snap!’ and the rest laugh. Ben looks insulted. “Anyway..” he presses on “3 words to describe Bill..”
“Right, Bill.” Rocker is sitting up a little straighter, clearly pleased with himself. “Let me think..” Awesome, handsome and prankster all spring to mind as he thinks about his best friend and father figure. “Straightforward” he settles on at last, picking up a cigarette and pointing at Ben with it. “Pops, Bill that is, he doesn’t sugar coat shit. He is going to call it as he sees it and he’s not going to tell you what he thinks you want to hear, he tells you what you need to hear.”
He huffs a laugh as he lights the smoke. “Its something I haven’t always received very well, but he’s always helped cause he’s always right in the end.” Rocker smiles “That’s not to say he’s tactless and will just say any old thing without thinking..” he laughs and gestures to himself “that’s me.” He pauses for the audience laughter “Bill’s got damned good delivery, whether with a well timed joke, or much needed words of advice, or ..” he rubs his beard “once in a while a sharp edged comment that stings, but brings you to your senses. Either way, I never would have gotten to where I am now without him.”
The audience awwwws.
He clears his throat of emotions “Yeah, yeah, yeah, save it!” he waves the crowd off “okay um..  what else. I mean honestly I could list a hundred words for Bill.” He shrugs and drags the cigarette “He’s ancient and magnificent. Hysterical, mischievous, loyal. He’s powerful and intelligent..” he lists as he exhales smoke then chuckles. “Those generic ass adjectives aren’t what you’re looking for though, are they boss?”
“Hey I just provide the questions!” Ben throws his hands up in defense.
Rocker laughs “Okay hot shot. Fatherly then.” This time the musician’s hands jump up “I know I know, my father figure is fatherly, real poetic Mr song writer! But seriously, it’s the right word for him.” He takes a sip of his water and continues “He’s head of our little custom family for one thing, but he’s always the first to check on ya if you’ve had a bad day, or are sick or any old thing. Even with his animals, he’s just this real caretaker and seems to almost have this need to fuss over people.” He laughs “Well not people, but us few who are lucky enough for him to call family.”
More awws from the audience and then Ben speaks again. “Speaking of family, Bill recently added to it, didn’t he?”
He nods as he’s swallowing some of his drink “Yeah, Bee. Real cute kid.”
“The other kid that’s won you over that you referred to earlier ?”
He nods again “Yeap, though I mean I don’t know if I would say she’s won me over. I haven’t had a chance to spend much time with her yet, but from what I can tell she’s a real chill kid. She makes Bill and Rick happy anyway, which is the best part of her coming along.”
“How would you describe her then?” The interviewer prompts.
“Hmmm..” Rocker shifts in his chair as he thinks. It’s true what he says, he doesn’t really know the girl too well yet. “Tenacious” he says with a scrunched brow and a nod, as if he’s just agreeing with himself as he says it. “That girl has a real grip on not only herself, but her place in Bill’s life. She knows what she wants and she takes it.” He laughs, thinking of the near wild horse she recently adopted. “I don’t even think Bill fully realized what was happening when she came along, but in her own way she just grabbed onto all of us and was like ‘you are mine now’ you know what I mean? It’s impossible not to find her endearing.. well, unless you cross her!” He laughs again.
“She’s a real spit-fire too!” He says through his laughter. “I’ve seen some blog posts between her and some people she’s not so fond of and woo! Girl’s got her father’s tongue, I’ll tell you that. With some practice when she grows up she’ll be just as able to cut anyone down to size with a well phrased insult as the rest of us.”
“Oh hmm, yeah that sounds very endearing.” Ben teases with a raised eyebrow.
A bark laugh comes out of the musican “Pffft!! Well that’s what makes us a family, a taste for the less than chivalrous.”
The interviewer shakes his head knowingly. “Well then, anything else you’d like to add for Bill or Bee?”
Rocker shrugs again. “What can any man say about his family that could possibly convey how important they are? I love them and I’d be lost without them.”
The audience applauds.
