DILUC RAGNVINDR - he's your stepbrother. the public doesn't know anything other than the fact that you and him have the same name and some similar features. you're teased about being siblings with him which you don't outright deny, but don't outright confirm either. he's the first son of your father, crepus, with his first wife. dotes on you. busy man. rarely speaks with you, but if you call, he answers immediately no matter what. soft, loving, stepbrother!

DUNYARZAD - your newly found bestfriend (of four months!) after you got partnered with her for a practical exam, you both hit it off. she's in the same year and course as you in the same darshan. she loves traveling. she is also a sickly person since she was a child. she is demure and soft hearted as she's from a wealthy sumerian family. she is alhaitham's forbidden first love.

YANFEI - another one of your friends. she is all about girl power, women empowerment, and upholding what is right. almost like a moral compass of the group whenever someone goes off the rails and does shitty things which she usually has to fix for them. she's the group mediator. she's a first year vahumana student majoring in law. she lived in liyue until last year until she decided to permanently live in sumeru.

KAEYA - not much is known about him. he's rarely seen around. but whenever he's around though, he's the origin of all chaos and any off the rail decision making. not a good adviser, but a good friend nonetheless. he's your adoptive brother on diluc's side. strangely, he's more similar to you than diluc and ironically you're not bloodrelated.

Kaeya felt like a criminal with how much the man glared at him in the meeting room. He shifted his attention to the papers in front of him as he tried to skim the details. His lawyer and friend, Yanfei, had highlighted and annotated the legalese in words he'd better understood.

«They want you to remove your parental rights/guardian status. The legal work only views you as extended family, not immediate.»

A nervous chuckle as he murmured something about never realizing how serious raising a literal baby could be. Trying to calm as Vespera's giggle could be heard in the room.

"Oh, I hope my son doesn't scare you too much. He's just upset that he's missed out on the formative years of his own daughter's life!" Mr. Ragnv- er, Crepus chimed in as he cuddled his granddaughter. Paying little attention to the tension of the room and more to the little girl on his lap. "We were surprised his file was compromised after a medical malpractice report. No one was supposed to use his material as a genetic option."

Kaeya had no idea what to make of the talk. He wasn't Kahalin. He had no idea what her experience was like. Didn't know she had done so until she excitedly shared the news that she had a viable pregnancy. Always thought Kahalin would be there … Always thought he would just be the fun uncle …

He feels like a stranger in the room. He was just the uncle, not the father. … But now he was the one raising her. He became her guardian, but did that make him her father or uncle? He's only had her for less than a year, not even getting to her birthday before being sued for custody. It was stressful. Did he even have a case against a literal celebrity? Fuck Barbatos, Vespera is a celebrity's baby.

"Thank you for the input, but I would like for us to reach an agreement on how Vespera's life should be moving forward." Yanfei consoled as Kaeya feels like he should shrink in his chair.

Truthfully, Kaeya would bluntly state Vespera stays with him. Honestly, Kaeya would prefer Diluc to be slowly introduced to his daughter. And blasphemously, Kaeya disregards all reason and says Diluc should be his boyfriend, and they all become a happy family, avoiding all this trouble. But that would be stupid thinking.

"I am sure it is upsetting to learn late of Vespera's existence. However, I would prefer that the two of you eased into her life slowly." Kaeya responded carefully as he marked off lines in the papers. Not caring if her father disapproved of his actions.

"I will not be giving up my parental rights just because I am an uncle. I have raised her in my sister's place, and Vespera is my kid." He stated sternly as he looked at Diluc and the man's lawyer. Showing he will not be bullied to lose someone he loves. "We'll share custody evenly, or I will fight to keep her solely."

Diluc frowned at his words but said nothing, thinking it over before sighing. Crepus seemed to have a sad smile, but Kaeya felt like it wasn't over his preferences.

"Have it your way. Our lawyers will work with the alterations of the copy you have in your hands. Let's do what is best for Vespera." Diluc announced as he got up to leave, however, going over to his father to help the man up. Holding his daughter as the senior Ragnvindr got onto his feet.

The sight of Vespera's real father holding her broke something inside Kaeya. Cementing a sadness that's dripped deeper and deeper.

The traits that used to be just Vespera's were now Diluc's.

'I'm not really her father.' Is all Kaeya can despair as the other man passes the toddler to him.

"We'll be in touch." Diluc notes before wavering a bit, clearing his throat to speak. "Thank you for caring for her and I- I'm sorry for your loss."

As if the weigh in his heart broke into light itself. Kaeya couldn't express how hearing that changed his judgment of the other. Maybe Diluc really was not that vindictive as he thought he was.

"…Thank you for that…" Is all Kaeya can say, feeling a bit confused when Crepus pats Kaeya's shoulder.

"Ignore my son's rigidness, we're family now, so don't be shy to visit."

The young heir seems to blush at his father's words.

'Cute.' Kaeya thought as he and Yanfei left the facilities, droning out the environment as he lamented on these new changes… Diluc was cute. But cute did not remove the part where he wanted to take the last piece of his sister away.

Drinking Culture + Mondstadt Girls

We all know that Mond has a huge drinking culture, with the stereotype being Mondstadters knowing how to hold their alcohol, so let's consider this—

Jean can best her knights in a drinking contest. She's rarely ever seen in a tavern, let alone with a drink, but don't underestimate the Gunnhildr and her alcohol tolerance.

The Knights of Fav have probably had their fair share of drinking celebratory parties. If they ever manage to rope their Acting Grand Master into a shot challenge, you'd find her on equal grounds with Kaeya, with the rest on the brink of passing out.

She wasn't childhood best friends with the Ragnvindr brothers for nothing after all (knight trainees and alcohol industry heirs? not the best mix, no matter how well behaved they were)

Of course, we know Lisa can hold her own.

But imagine young Lisa in Sumeru Academy. She's the kind of student who can drown mixes at 2AM in a party and still be on time for her 7 AM lecture (while maintaining her status as a prodigy of the academy)

Students with Lisa at the party last night, absolutely wasted, seeing her ace the exams without a hair out of place be like: ಠ_ಠ

Sumeru academy students must learn to fear the Mondstadter.

Fischl and Bennett at least knowing their mixes and cocktails. See them hang out with Liyuean youth and they're suggesting all the best drinks that are easy for those who aren't used to drinking yet.

Rosaria is obviously used to drinks, BUT CONSIDER BARBARA

Barbara who loves super spicy food, so it isn't a surprise when you see her drown hard whiskey without shedding a tear.

She's a casual drinker. Barbara is a Gunnhildr and an idol, so she tends to keep up appearances with a frizzy champagne glass (but the contents are nothing like a "girly drink")

Eula honestly gives me light weight vibes but I believe she can impress anyone with her liquor knowledge.

And Amber enjoys a few beers every now and then too! She also loves a pretty cocktail.

Sucrose consumed her fair share of weird things (whether for experimentation or just her own cooking), I like to think she can down a lot without breaks.

Klee probably knows more alcohol brands than the average young adult in another nation.

Diona despises alcohol, but she's a bartender for pete sake — she can mix you anything whether it's a mocktail or a cocktail!

Friendly reminder that Diluc didn't always despised alcohol but I think it was mentioned in his story that he once downed Snezhnayan liquor which caused him to pass out for three days? The maids said they've never seen anyone as wasted as that. Ever.

So is Diluc a light weight or a heavy weight? hmmm

yeah yeah yeah about the thing with adoption! Adding on to it, Diluc has his whole thing about living up to his father's expectations + wanting his pride + "Earn The Ragnvindr Name" and such, and it's never really implied Kaeya had those same expectations I don't think? Like. They both joined the Knights. Crepus was probably thrilled and proud of their both being in the Knights, and by Kaeya's supporting Diluc. But Diluc is the one with the emphasis on it; on what his accomplishments mean for the family, on Crepus's wanting Diluc to do things he specifically could not, etc.

And Kaeya's internal thing with Mondstadt is about repayment and fulfilling his duty to his adoptive father and the city Mondstadt that took him in, not holding up some actual legacy or wish of Crepus's.

Which kind of makes sense: my impression was that he'd been projecting on Diluc the ability to Fulfill The Dreams He Couldn't Accomplish And Outshine Him or whatever, and Kaeya, though his son!! was also a kid he got off the road and not part of their family line, and by extension quite possibly just... not part of that projection he had? There was a degree of separation. Which by uglier extension, could imply that while loved, he didn't consider Kaeya to be part of that Ragnvindr Legacy Heritage(tm) so it wouldn't have occurred to him to make Kaeya a legal inheritor of Important Ragnvindr Matters like the manor or winery business.

Which... could maybe potentially layer interestingly with the bit about Kaeya not being able to make himself do what he imagined he "should've" done as proper son or brother (though that was mostly about how Crepus's death might affect his allegiance), and especially his being upset with Diluc for damaging their father's legacy (however he phrased it) by selling the mansion.

Like... Kae Kae sure has some issues man.... I genuinely find it sooo hard to talk to people in the fandom, mostly among ragbros fans because of how romatized his adoption is tbh...

It's insane to me because Crepus seems like he was a good father to Kaeya at least in his character stories but tbh, the bar was probably on the floor for Kaeya like all he had to do was not to send him on a goddamn spy mission and that would've been enough... Legit.

The exepctatins thing is something I always talk about because Kaeya didn't get a vision up until he was litterally an adult and stuff so why is there no metion in his vision story of the expectations or whatever he felt from Crepus. Or even just the comrodery (?) of the both of them not having a vision unlike Diluc. Because shit... That's like a whole thing and stuff.

Or it should've been. At least.

Fuck me man, I don't get it and now I'm sad for Kaeya because if there was some blood son priviledge shit, which i think does exist in Kaeya's relationship to Crepus, then it's so sad that Kaeya clearly sees him as his father and feels so much duty to do what his adoptive father wanted him to do. Like it's just sad how much Kaeya feels guilty for not being the perfect son.

If not because of blood fuckery, there's a least the thing of "Yeah he looks like me so it's easier to project myself and my failures onto him" which is... I'm sad now...

both his original father and diluc’s had horses, so he’s been around them a lot

when he was little, he spent all his time playing in the stables

by the time he was around 10-12, a little bit after he was taken in by the ragnvindrs, he could care for the horses by himself

crepus would ask him and diluc to help him name new foals

he started learning to ride almost immediately after getting better at caring for the horses

diluc and kaeya would follow crepus on horseback through the wilds of mondstadt sometimes when they accompanied him for errands

after crepus died, kaeya taught himself, and surprisingly became rather skilled

i like to think that there was a period where kaeya and diluc were close immediately following crepus’ death before they drifted apart

so, kaeya taught diluc a lot of what he knows now about horseback riding

when kaeya joined the knights of favonius cavalry, he felt right at home

he learned some vaulting and one-handed skills from training with the other knights

so now he’s REALLY good

he excitedly tells diluc everything he learns whenever he can

diluc listens, but this is during the period when they started to drift apart, so he feels the smallest twinge of jealousy

regardless, a small part of him is proud of kaeya, and he does his best to voice this since he doesn’t want to dampen his brother’s mood

nowadays, kaeya likes to go for quiet rides around windrise on his days off

for those of you who might not know, most horse’s “names” are nicknames! domestic horses have what i can only describe as “legal names” or as they’re more commonly known, “show names.” these names are typically structured similarly to actual names, with two words (“shooting star”), but some people will use phrases (“a walk with grace”) or titles of movies, songs, etc (“dark side of the moon” “candy crush”). i don’t wanna bore you with the details here, but if you’re interested just look up how horses’ show names are chosen! okay back to the kaeya horse girl hours)

during the windblume festival and weinlesefest, kaeya likes to braid cecilias and windwheel asters into her mane.

mira is gentle and soft tempered, so even in the most chaotic of festival settings she will stand quietly

during festivals she gets lots of extra treats, and bakers in mond have taken to making special horse-friendly treats especially for her

needless to say, she’s very well taken care of by both kaeya and the entirety of mondstadt

sometimes, when he’s stressed or otherwise upset, kaeya will take mira out to the shore and gallop her up and down the beach

(with breaks, of course. no matter how pent up he may be, kaeya would never push mira to exhaustion because of it)

my headcanon is that every form of authority the traveller meets is forced to acknowledge the serenitea pot as a neutral territory. since pocket dimensions/personal domains exist outside of euclidean space, normally there's another way of deciding, for example cloud retainer's 'home'/main domain has its door permanently fixed to open out in liyue so if there were ever a legal dispute over something that happened in there, the law would proceed as if the event happened in private property in liyue. if an inazuman citizen opened a temporary domain in mondstadt it would be treated as a mondstadt property that belongs to an inazuman individual, like a french person owning a house in spain.

the traveller is not a full/official citizen of any nation, but it's clear they come from somewhere. the teapot was a gift from a liyue citizen but that's irrelevant because it is thus now fully owned by the traveller. it doesn't have a permanently set entrance/exit, the traveller just puts it down wherever and it goes through customs with them and the traveller has not disclosed their nation of origin (it may not even be a recognised nation. what then??)

the traveller's sereniteapot is a legal nightmare and there are only a few people who are both aware and don't find this concerning. those people include:

-madame ping (she had a feeling it would be like this and quietly finds it extremely funny to be responsible for the mess)

-ningguang (she's confident the qixing could figure it out if they had to. but first she wants to see what would actually happen if someone tried to press charges for something.)

He's always looking at her and she's always looking at him. The first to break, is deemed a dupe.

The atmosphere in the bar with drunken knights and bards isn't the type of place she'd spent her time in, the night is the most lively she's seen sitting in the corner by her lonesome self, watching the people come and go while she orders nothing but sunsettia sap, sour and sweet zest, avoiding a particular pair of eyes, one concealed by a patch.

She wouldn't know if he was a regular customer who recognized her not belonging in the tavern, either way, she hasn't declined meeting his eyes every once in a while, she's seen him smirk and hand her his unspoken appreciation for uncalled leisure.

He seems charming, although, she is cautious of many strangers, she'll say it, he doesn't seem like a bad person, his sincerity can be questioned, but who doesn't have secrets?

A traveller from liyue who originated from another nation wandered towards her current location in less than legal ways, enigmas are unavoidable. She'd know it well enough by now.

The night was young, people cheering bibulous laughter and slurping their beers, the loud environment stifling her senses, her back turned towards the patrons as she stared at the dimmed rosy walls. Plopping her chin in her palm, she restarts her disquieting thoughts, just in the process of seizing her departure, when a gentleman took a seat before her.

Beginning with a grin, "I haven't seen you around for a while, were you perhaps getting yourself in trouble?" He said, tilting his head, low lidded eyes gazing at her form. She kept her stance, despite her heart skipping a few beats.

"Would my personal matters involve you? No, I have more than enough problems with my husband at home." She lied, hoping if this was his attempt at flirting and smiting her with his allure would be a failure.

Most who have approached with romantic intentions back off upon learning her commitment to a man already, their wives wouldn't like that now, would they?

"Oh? You are married?" He muttered with an ingenuine gleam, she picked up on that.

"Yes, that is correct, why the surprise?" She replied lifting her brow and chin, staring him down.

"I thought I heard somewhere that you were having an affair with the owner of this tavern, It must have been false." He retorted, eluding her prying gaze.

"Surely you wouldn't be foolish enough to believe such claims blindly, would you?" She carried on.

"People spread all sorts of rumours when they are envious and bored." She finished, gulping her drink and softly slamming it down onto the table.

"True, but some of them are quite intriguing." He chuckled, and she pointed a fierce glare at his smug exterior. "What are you getting at?" She sternly questioned.

"Oh, it's nothing, no need to get so angry."

She remained silent.

He contemplated with a delightful glint and attempted to find the slightest change in her tones, her intuition warned her he knew more than he was letting her see, it would be best not to encourage him.

"I see, that's good. I'll be leaving now, have a pleasant night." She uttered, standing up and softly pacing out of the room. The young man quietly grinned.

She was returning home, the breeze was cooler and the unfiltered sense of dread had withered upon taking off from the tavern, everything felt right as she was pushing the odd sentiments here and there, it felt better than being inside that humid rowdy habitat.

She lived in Springvale, rekindling the notion of that man as she strolled along the muddy path, it would be been dangerous if she hadn't seen him following her when she had taken the back entrance to exit mondstadt, she would bet he knows.

After all, he was digging out all sorts of information on her.

´Cuz i like to defent Kaeluc

Kaeluc describes a pairing between Kaeya Alberich and Diluc Ragnvindr from the game Genshin Impact. They are by far the most popular, but also the most hated couple in the community. However, I do not understand the arguments of the counter-movement, which is why I would like to write something about it. Haters usually argue with "They are not allowed to love each other, because they are brothers and so it´s incest.": Yes and no. They are adoptive brothers. Kaeya and Diluc are not related by blood. In fact, they don't even look alike. They both also have a different surname.

I had a friend and we´re like sisters. But that doesn´t make us to relatives. That only shows, that Kaeya is close to Diluc. Here you can watch to Part at your own: ---> Link It is unclear whether Kaeya broke away from the Ragvindr family out of guilt or whether Diluc broke the bond. But I think secount is the matter. When Kaeya called himself Diluc's "Bro", he just wanted to provoke him. You could see that Diluc did not take Kaeya's secret well, because they fought afterwards. The second point haters make is that Kaeluc's relationship is toxic: That´s not true. Yes. It looks like Diluc hates Kaeya and he enjoys tormenting him. But this is not the case. I think Diluc's feelings about Kaeya are double-edged. As children they were very familiar with each other. The wiki describes how they can guess each other's thoughts and are like twins. I think Diluc trusted Kaeya very much. And then, at a moment when he really suffered the most... He had to kill his own father. so that he wouldn't suffer any further. The Favonius Knight informed him that they were trying to cover up Crepus exploit ... Kaeya hasn't picked the best moment to tell him the truth. I think Diluc hates Kaeya for lying to him and being Mondstadts enemy. On the other hand, he's still a person who means a lot to him. What Diluc feels for Kaeya is probably some kind of love-hate relation. And yes. Kaeya obviously provokes Diluc. But this then he usually counters with rather rude answers or in another way. So they tease each other in their own way. That the two are still close despite Diluc's hatred can be seen mainly in the fact that they work together to protect Mondstadt and the ugly vase that Diluc has in his house. A gift from Kaeya. Source My final words: Actually there is no argument not to ship Kaeluc. Kaeya and Diluc are fundamentally different and yet the same. The heated arguments between the two, but the fact that you can still see that they like each other is what makes the couple so interesting. Because they are no longer a family, the ship is justifiable for everyone. Even if they were still brothers, it is legal depending on the country. His parents are both dead. His father was killed my bandits on his travels and his mother died of a broken heart

His mother was a noblewoman and unknown to him, his father is of nobility to, but they both decided to abandon their titles and raise Kaeya as a normal commoner

His grandparents (from Mondstadt) wish to give Kaeya their title, despite him being half-Khaenri’ahian, but he refuses

He does go by his mother’s maiden last name which is Alberich (as his father’s was Eclipse)

He is legally a Ragnvindr since he was adopted by Crepus when he was twelve

He joined the Mondstadt military as soon as he could and ranks rather high

He has literally no interest in the social season

His main goal is to make sure Diluc marries to the Ragnvindr line continues

Crepus is not dead in this AU. GDI.

Kaeya does still wear an eyepatch, having lost his eye in a battle

He is a capital R Rake 

His has no interest in continuing the Alberich line (very Simon of him) and while he is now aware of the Eclipse lineage, he has no ties to Khaenri’ah and the Eclipse Dynasty has been replaced with another

He has no interest in marriage because he wholeheartingly plans to die on a the battle field some day and never wants his significant other to ever suffer as his mother had
