I think Kakashi liked having Obito's attention on him. While watching the flashbacks, he always says or does something to get Obito's attention, but he does it in his own way.

When Kakashi becomes genin, everyone is congratulating him, but Kakashi adresses Obito seperatly. Like, does his approval mean that much to you, babykashi??

Kakashi waking up Obito during class, so he can pay attention. Of course, it doesn't go well, but babykashi had good intentions.

He always has to be the one to reprimand Obito when he is late. That's Minato's job. Almost like he wants any excuse to speak with Obito. "It's important that he knows how I feel about this." Also notice how much Obito has to bend to be at his eye level 🥹🥹

With the time skip, I've been thinking, they are definitely going to kill off a few beloved characters. Now, I have a million ideas of how to each character justice in their death, the fates of Kakashi and Gai have been weighing heavily on my mind. The idea of characters being written off for plot progression is something I've come to understand and accept. However, I've decided that when it comes to Kakashi and Gai, there are essentially only two resolutions that would satisfy the audience, or at least only two solutions that would satisfy me.

I feel like they both need to die or they both need to live. Whether or not you ship them, I think everyone can agree that in some way they are soulmates. Platonically or romantically. The thought of either of them living out the rest of their days without each other is miserable. Here's the thing, though, I feel like they both need to die fighting. It's already been stated, I believe, that Kakashi is doing missions again. Which means Gai, whether he should or shouldn't be, is likely gearing up to fight in some way. (My guess is they're going to involve Ninja tools or something to that effect.)

I feel like they need to go out fighting if they are to die soon. Because here's the thing, if Kakashi were to die fighting Gai would not take his life after the fact and vice versa. I feel like, Kakashi knows the pain first hand and Gai saw Kakashi's pain after the fact. So, that would mean, they would have to live out the rest of their natural life without each other.

AND THAT MAKES ME SO SAD!!!!!! I JUST WANT THEM TO BE HAPPY AND GROW OLD TOGETHER. BUT, if we can't get that, then they should go out fighting for their village and the people they care about inside it. Their death should be together, on the battlefield, and it should mean something. Like a sacrifice or something.

In summary, give these old men A BREAK, AND LET THEM LIVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER, OR at least kill them both off. Anyways, that's just my thoughts on the matter!
