The first day

Navadurga feature

This year’s Navratri festival starts on Thursday 7th October.  On that day, on Pradeepada Tithi, the first aspect of Navadurga is worshiped as Sailaputri Devi.

The second day

Feature: Brahmacharini

The second day is Friday, October 8th.  On that day, the second aspect of Navadurga is to worship Goddess Brahmacharini.

The third day

Feature: Kushmandam

The third day is Saturday, October 9th.  During Tridiya and Chaturthi Tithi on that day, Chandrakantha Puja and Goddess Kushmanda should be worshiped.

The fourth day

Feature: Skandamata

The fourth day is Sunday, October 10th.  On the 4th day of Navratri, a special puja is performed for Skandamata during Panchami Tithi.

Fifth day

Feature: Katyayani

The fifth day is Monday, October 11th.  On the 5th day of Sashti Tithi, the 5th Goddess Katyayani should be worshiped at Navadurga.

Sixth day

Feature: Kalarathri

The sixth day is Tuesday, October 12th.  On the day of Saptami Tithi, worship Goddess Kalarathri.

Seventh day

Feature: Maha Gauri

The seventh day is Wednesday, October 13th.  On that day, during Ashtami Tithi, one has to worship Maha Gauri.

Eighth day

Feature: Siddhithatri

The eighth day is Thursday, October 14th.  On that day, on Navami Tithi, one should offer puja to Goddess Siddhithatri.

Ninth day

Feature: Durga

The last day of Navratri is Friday 15th October.  On that day, during Tasami Tithi, on the closing day of Navratri, the festival of Dasara is celebrated with much fanfare for Goddess Durga.
