True Beauty Seojun and Sujin Ship Revival Request
Tumblr got banned in my country which is why I stopped using this site but I had to subscribe to a VPN just to get the word out that TRUE BEAUTY IS ON NETFLIX NOW!!! which means that more people are gonna watch it which means more vidders and creatives are gonna see this series.
SOMEBODY PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MAKE SOME NEW SEOJUN AND SUJIN CONTENT. I am dying for some more edits/fics/fanvids of these two. I know this pairing is old now but I WILL GO DOWN WITH THIS SHIP.
I would kill to see these two work again in some other drama. Sadly this isn’t happening so could somoene please like make another video of Park Yoona and Hwang In Yeop together? Pretty please? It doesn’t even have to be a True Beauty vid. It could just be random clips strung together.
*whispers* it doesn’t even have to be good.
Okay now I gotta go before network provider catches me using my VPN.
Bye!

JunJin (True Beauty) Fanfic Recommendations
White Tulips by [Salem_The_Centenarian_Cat]
Sure, Han Seojun let Lim Jukyung go at the end of True Beauty. And sure, Kang Sujin apologized for what had happened. But what happened after that?
Did Kang Sujin ever truly face the consequenses of her actions? Seojun doesn't think so. He thinks she is still the "piece of trash" who exposed Jukyung's true face to the entire school. He doesn't trust her and he will do anything to protect Jukyung from her.
Did Han Seojun really move on? Sujin doesn't think so. Not with the way he keeps hounding her about what she did all those years ago. But she has enough on her plate, and won't let Seojun get to her.   The two enemies are forced together because of their mutual friends, but soon discover, that they might have more to offer each other than just witty comebacks and glaring looks.
Loves Me Not by [Salem_The_Centenarian_Cat]
True Beauty AU where Han Seojun owns a flower shop and falls in love with a very special customer.
True Acceptance by [KitKatKatherine]
Taking place just at the end of episode 10. Seojun chases after Suho, who runs across a busy road. The two are then struck by a car and rendered unconscious. Suho has minor injuries, but Seojun is on death's door. After a stay in the ICU and a coma, he wakes up to discover he is now blind. The chance of getting any sight back? Slim.
Still pining for Jugyeong, and alone more than ever, he finds an annoying yet faithful friend in Sujin, the girl he's always despised. The two can't stand each other, and yet, they're the only ones who accept each other as they truly are. No mask, no persona.
I can see the whole world (from the edge of this roof) by [thefrenchmistake]
15 meters.
It’s not overwhelmingly high. But it’s high enough.
A fall of 1.75 seconds. Enough to regret it.
As she toes the edge of the roof, Sujin doesn’t think she would, though.
Wrong place, wrong life (tell me where I can hide) by [thefrenchmistake]
“God, aren’t you tired of lying ? How can Jugyeong even think you’re her friend ?”
That sends a sharp pain through her; how many times has she wondered the same, and how many times has she come up short on the answer ?
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” she interjects coldly, arms crossed on her chest to keep from smacking him. “Seems to me like you’re the one Jugyeong should keep her distance from.”
Or; Sujin never betrayed Jugyeong, and tries to make do with her rapidly unraveling home-life.
Stuck on the roof (free falling high) by [thefrenchmistake]
“Well. Guess we’re stranded here.”
Here, the rooftop. Where there’s construction stuff piled up in a corner, some potted plants, but nothing much else.
We, as in Kang Sujin and him.
Stranded, as in until tomorrow morning.

Paper love.

Original story, with some kdrama themes.
Soojin deserves a beautiful love story, that's why I decided to make this story, I hope you like it a lot. It would make me very happy to continue the story, so I would like you to let me know if you like it <3
Tumblr media
From his first minute of life, literally. His father took care of his past, present and future, well that was before. Everything had changed two years ago, when she decided that the abuse she received from her father was hurting her more and more, causing her to hurt herself in the worst way. Thus; He decided to denounce him, with each of the evidence he kept since he was 12 years old, the age where it all began. Soojin, despite her age, was very mature and understood many things that young people her age did not, even so, her fear and her demand to be the best daughter, blinded her to the point of silence, hoping that some day. day to stop, to Soojin's bad luck, that never happened. Nowadays, everything is improving, she works as a secretary in a company related to entertainment, she is beginning to have real friends and not because of any particular interest. The relationship with his mother is becoming stronger and stronger and with it, he is beginning to understand what happiness and tranquility are. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~○~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Han Seojun all her life had grown up full of love next to her small family , his mother, sister and grandfather. At the age of 18, he began to enter the family business, a company that he had started based on his dream. Becoming a well-known character in the Kpop industry was something Seojun had dreamed of since he was little. To tell the truth, he was close to his dream, but at the same time he was thousands of kilometers away from fulfilling it.
Ever since her grandfather fell ill, Han Seojun had started to take charge of the company, in a way that made many employees uneasy, she became CEO of HSG quite young. The truth was that, despite this, the company was improving, it became one of the most recognized entertainment companies in the country and it was something that Seojun was proud of, it felt good to know that even if he was not doing what he was most passionate about, he was helping many young people with his same dream, to be an idol.

But if I would like you to know from the beginning what is going on <3 My first language is not English, so I hope there are not many spelling errors. This story will also be on other platforms, it will be with the same name, in case you like to read it over there:) I would also like to know if you are liking it, you can comment or vote, as you like🖤🤍

White Tulips - Cut Chapter
Hey Everyone. I hope who ever reads this is happy and healthy. So I wrote this idea for my Han Seojun x Kang Sujin fanfic but it didn’t really fit the story at the time, even though I had set it up in the published story twice, so I cut it. But I still loved this idea so I wanted to share it here.
I would have shared it earlier but I was trying to get the Joseon Era AU started before that but man, have I been struggling with that story. Writing historic fanfic is HARD! Anyway I still wanted to leave this here. Hope you all like it.
Pairing: Kang Sujin x Han Seojun
Word Count: 1.7k
Rating: Slightly Mature... or maybe PG 15? I dunno. I am bad with ratings
Tumblr media
i.
For all of his flaws, Han Seojun had one thing going for him. He was unashamed. Unashamed of his slight lack of academic intelligence, unashamed of his troublemaker persona, and definitely unashamed of losing to Kang Sujin at everything imaginable.
“Ah-nee, how could you get so good at basketball?” He panted, pulling up his shirt to wipe his brow, not because he was sweaty, but because he wanted Sujin to stare at his abs.
“I was always good, Han Seojun.” Sujin said proudly, holding the basketball by her waist as she unabashedly eyed his abs. “I told you, I was just off my game that day.”
“You were distracted by my face.” Seojun smirked.
“Of course, I was. I had a massive crush on you.” She grinned, kissing him.
“Ooooh, chagi, you had a crush on meee.” Seojun teased like a school boy who had discovered her most embarrassing secret.
“We’re practically married.” Sujin pointed out dryly, the fact that they had been together for over a year now.
“Still.” Seojun grinned.
“Doesn’t change the fact that I finally did beat you.” Sujin countered.
Seojun didn’t tell her that he had let her win today. Her loved her competitiveness and the giddy way she grinned when she won. If Seojun could, he would let her win everything her heart desired. But this he would never tell her, mostly because she would kill him. And Seojun really wanted to live, especially now that he had someone else to live with.
“Technically, we’re at a draw. You only cancelled out your win from back then.” He stated. The two had started packing their things. Sujin dumped her water bottle in their gym bag.
“Oh yeah? Well, I’m about to win this argument.” Sujin grinned an evil grin, leaning closer. She spoke in a sing-song voice, “I know your big secret.”
“Oh yeah? What’s that?” Seojun smirked. He was an open book, there was nothing he ever hid from anyone. And even if he did, there was nothing he was ashamed of.
Sujin took out her phone and pressed play.
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo,
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo
Really? Yes! Okey dokey yo
Say la la la la la la la la la la la
“Told you I would find out.” Sujin’s evil grin spread wide as Seojun’s smug smile wavered.
Oh no.
It turned out that here indeed was one thing that Han Seojun was ashamed of.
“Ya, Kang Sujin!” Seojun went for her phone but she bounced out of his way, skipping backward.
“What’s wrong, Seojun-ah? Don’t like this song?” She asked in mock innocence.
Oh God, the horror. The pain, the anguish! The embarrassment!
“Ya! Come here!” Seojun ran after her and she sprinted away from him, running around the court. “Stop playing that!”
“No way. This is my new favorite song.” Sujin shouted back breathlessly as she ran full speed. Seojun caught up with her and she squealed and laughed as he held her by the waist.
“Are you not going to stop?” He didn’t lunge for her phone. Instead opted to tickle her, making her squeal some more, laughing uncontrollably.
“I cave! I cave!” She said, her eyes tearing up from the laughing.
Seojun took her phone and turned off the song. Sujin was red from laughter and Seojun felt an ache to kiss her then and there. But he didn’t want to encourage her triggering the PTSD he had from that embarrassing incident in high school.
“Lim Jukyung is such a traitor. I can’t believe she told you.”
“I’m your girlfriend. Of course, she told me. Shouldn’t I know you were dancing around half naked in front of another woman?” Sujin wiped the tears from her eyes, still shaking from the aftershocks of laughing.
“Aish! That was so embarrassing. I never want to remember that happened.” Seojun admitted, going red as he thought back to when he had been dancing around in his house, wearing nothing but his underwear and had failed to notice that Lim Jukyung had been there with his sister the entire time.
“Waeeee? I find it funny.” And then she burst out laughing again. Han Seojun walked away in a huff. He couldn’t face the embarrassment any longer, especially not in front of Sujin.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” Sujin chased after him.
Han Seojun would have buried the incident again, along with his memory of that song but then there it was again.
That dreaded song.
They were having lunch with everyone; Jukyung, Suho, Taehoon, Suah and his squad with Chorong, when suddenly, he heard the tune faintly.
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo,
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo
Seojun thought he was imagining it. But then Sujin took out her phone and the song played clearer. That damn woman had set it as her ring tone.
That dreaded song.
“Oops, getting a call. Be right back.” Sujin said with just enough pretend innocence that it passed off as sincere to others, but he knew. He knew.
Han Seojun glared at Jukyung accusingly and she made an apologetic face. Luckily, no one else seemed to pick up on Seojun’s discomfort. Suho did give him a pointed look but Suho knew that he did not have the privilege of making fun of Seojun the way Sujin did. And that wasn’t a matter of Seojun getting mad at him. It was a matter of Kang Sujin destroying anyone who would say one syllable against her boyfriend.
“Sujinnie,” Seojun pouted like a child that night as they made dinner, “I don’t like your ringtone.”
Her phone had been ringing all day. A little too frequently, Seojun had noticed. It was almost as if Sujin had scheduled all of her calls to today just to mess with him.
“Oh, should I change it?” She asked causally, “Okay, you pick something you like.”
Seojun grinned and padded over to the counter, setting her ringtone to one of his songs.
That night Seojun had gone to sleep thinking that chapter of his embarrassing event was over. He dreamed peacefully of being on stage and serenading Sujin with the songs he had written for her. But then his dream was interrupted with that jingle again.
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo,
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo
Seojun woke up with a gasp. No, it wasn’t just his dream. The song was actually playing. Sujin stirred and shut off her alarm.
Her alarm that was set to play Okey Dokey.
Tumblr media
Nooooooooooooooooooooooo! Seojun screamed in his head, cursing the storm he imagined himself drowning in. He loved Kang Sujin. He could never deny her anything, even if it led to his own torment.
But why, why out of everything she had to choose this.
Sujin got up, and didn’t even notice Seojun stuff his head in his pillow as she went to the bathroom.
“Hyung, are you okay?” One of his bandmates asked upon seeing Seojun’s dark circles and dead expression.
“Huh? I’m okey, dokey.” He responded dreamily. The band member backed away in concern.
ii.
Ever since they had gotten close, Seojun had stopped challenging her. True, they would still tease and play the push-pull game but it wasn’t like it had been before. Before they had felt like equals. Now it felt like Sujin had all the power and oddly enough, she didn’t like that. She worried it might get too boring for Han Seojun. She worried it wasn’t good for him to coddle her so much. He needed to have just as much of a say in things as she did.
She had meant the song to just stir some new challenge between them. He would respond with embarrassment and demand that she gets rid of the song. He would finally set a line for her; a restriction and she would comply to and balance would be restored. No longer would she be the one dictating everything.
But it had the opposite effect. Sujin hadn’t realized how it was torturing him till she saw him jump when they passed by a store that had been coincidentally playing the song.
“It’s following me.” Seojun had hissed. Sujin became worried she had gone too far. She hadn’t realized how much the incident had affected him.
Fortunately, Sujin knew what to do.
Come home early tonight. Sujin’s text came.
“Is everything okay?” He asked the second he entered. Sujin never asked him to be home early, knowing his busy schedule. He was lucky that his other band mate had gotten ill, and practice had been cancelled.
“Yeah, gimme a minute!” Sujin called from their bedroom.
Seojun threw his jacket on the sofa and unbuttoned his sleeves, getting ready to make dinner. But then he froze.
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo,
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo
He groaned, “Aaaaah, chagiiii! Geuman-hae already.” He turned and then froze again, dropping his phone on the floor.
In the door frame of their bedroom stood Kang Sujin wearing leopard print camisole and a blue bathrobe, striking an exaggerated dancing pose. The camisole reached just below her thighs. The rest of her long, long, long legs were available for him to gawk at.
Seojun gulped. Good God.
You ready?
I'm ready
Yea, okey dokey yo
Sujin began dancing to the song just like he had, singing along as she moved through the hallway with the graceful movements of a more practiced dancer. It was funny but all too captivating at the same time.
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo,
Is that true? Yes! Okey dokey yo
She came in and danced her way to the fridge, taking out a water bottle, and pouring it over her head.
Really? Yes! Okey dokey yo
Say la la la la la la la la la la la
She didn’t have the chance to continue as Seojun picked her up in his arms. She squealed in joy as he kissed her.
“Ah, Kang Sujin that’s the sexiest thing anyone’s ever done for me.” He said, leaning her over as she laughed.
Seojun forgot all about the song as he bridal carried a squealing Sujin to their room. They both fell down on the bed, laughing. Sujin ran a hand through his hair.
“Hey, Sujinnie. Guess what underwear I’m wearing today.” Seojun grinned.

True Beauty’s Gaping Mother Wound
*disclaimer*: I understand that all the listed traits are things which are often very common in Asian households, and it may seem that rather than being concerning, these are just a part of Asian culture. That is why, I feel that it’s necessary for me to make it clear that I am, in fact, Asian (Indian to be specific), and parental abuse is something that is extremely normalized here. As someone who has experienced it firsthand, I want to say that just because something is common/normal, doesn’t necessarily mean that it is correct. If you or anyone you know is in a situation like that, it’s very very important to speak out. And it’s not your fault, i know it’s easier to believe that way but it’s really not. We deserve to be in a loving environment, regardless of what culture we are born in.
Tumblr media
Throughout the drama, Jukyung’s mother shows many traits of an abusive mother. I have been able to outline 4 of them. I don’t mean to write her off as an evil character,, because overall she is well intentioned, and just like any other mom, she does love Jukyung. This is shown in episode 8 too, where she shows remorse for her actions. That however, doesn’t justify her abusive behavioral patterns in any way. Because we can see how badly it affects Jukyung, her self esteem and her overall view of herself.
-
Act 1: “I’m going to kill you today and go to jail” -- Physical Violence.
Tumblr media
Throughout the series, we see Jukyung's mother being very violent. But one scene which particularly stood out to me was the scene where she finds out about Jukyung's dad getting scammed. (in episode 1). While it is true that her dad caused a huge financial loss to the family, and anyone would feel angry in a situation like that, it is also true that there is never a good reason to physically abuse someone.
After hearing the news, Jukyung's mom is overcome by anger. It's completely okay to feel frustrated, but the way she violently jumped at her husband, clearly intentioned to hurt him, and the way she needed to be held back by juyoung and heekyung highlights her abusive nature. And this isn't a one time thing where she momentarily lost control of herself. She constantly shows similar behavioural traits throughout the drama.
In the scene where we see Jukyung's mom and dad together properly for the first time, their relationship dynamic is established. He's meekly massaging her shoulders while she orders him around. Their is an obvious power imbalance in the relationship, and the way Jukyung's dad cowers in fear around Jukyung's mom is a proof of that.
-
Act 2: "Why would you kill my precious son?" -- Conditional Love.
Tumblr media
We see examples of Jukyung’s Mom’s conditional love in the kdrama AND in the webtoon. Conditional love is when a parent or a parental figure makes their child compete for love. They withhold their affection until the kid acts in ways that are desirable to them, and if the kid fails to do so, the parent often punishers them through different methods. This is their way of maintaining control over their children.
Jukyung’s Mom’s conditional love manifests itself in the form of favoritism towards her eldest daughter Heekyung, who’s not only conventionally beautiful but also very smart and has a high paying job, and towards her youngest child and only son, Juyoung, who is also written to be very attractive. Both Juyoung and Heekyung have gifts that Jukyung does not posses -- beauty and brains. The conditions that are established in order to attain their mother’s affection are getting good grades at school, and being conventionally attractive, which is why Jukyung often gets the shorter end of the stick
In the scene where we are first meet Heekyung is the drama, their mom’s affection towards her is very evident.
Tumblr media
This is shown in the webtoon too.
Tumblr media
She displays this favoritism towards Juyoung too, and even more so. In episode 1 where Jukyung tries makeup for the first time, and gets ridiculed by him for doing a bad job at it, she naturally feels angry and yells at him, “do you want to die?!”, but instead of telling Juyoung to stop, their mother yells at Jukyung for yelling at Juyoung (”why would you kill my precious son? why?”). It’s already very evident that Juyoung has picked up the habit of constantly taunting Jukyung for her face from his mom. In the webtoon, when Jukyung decides that she wants to pursue makeup arts and asks for her mom’s support and fees for academy, her mom flat-out refuses, saying that they don’t have enough money. However as we find out later, money wasn’t the problem, because she had enough money to send Juyoung to a cram school for acting.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I find it hard to believe that any good parent would constantly compare their children and pit them against each other like this. In the webtoon and the kdrama, it is made clear that Juyoung doesn’t have particularly good grades either, but he doesn’t have to face his mother’s wrath by the virtue of being good looking. Jukyung on the other hand, does not have any redeeming qualities.
-
Act 3: “I’m going to throw all your makeup away” --Excessive Anger.
Tumblr media
Another sign of parental abuse is display of excessive anger. It’s usually used as an intimidation tactic to keep the child in line. Sometimes, it can simply happen because they lose control of themselves. Either way, parents who get angry more often than what is supposed to be normal, and hurt their children (physically or verbally) in the midst of their anger, repeatedly, are abusive. I feel like I don’t even need to elaborate on this one. Jukyung’s Mom is angry during half of her scenes. And the way she acts upon that anger crosses the limit too. Don’t get me wrong, it’s important to express your the way you feel, but the way Jukyung’s Mom does it, is extremely unhealthy and hurtful to others around her. Whether she’s jumping on Jukyung’s dad or talking down on Im Jukyung, she’s very inconsiderate of how her anger affects others. She almost always expresses herself in an extremely volatile way.
Jukyung described makeup as a hopeful light opening up a new life for her. There’s even a whole music segment of her discovering the powers of makeup, characterized by pastel and bubblegum tones, and the segment has a magical feel to it. Suffice to say that makeup brought an almost magical kind of hope and optimism to her life. In episode 6, Jukyung's Mom goes to her school to get her report card. When she sees her low grades, she gets so angry that she threatens to throw away her makeup, without once considering why Jukyung is so attached to it. In my eyes, she's actually very similar to Soojin's dad who also uses intimidation and physical violence to keep his daughter in line. If we put the same background music for the scenes where we see Jukyung's Mom threatening her, as the ones where Soojin's dad abuses her, they'd practically be identical. The only difference is that the show often plays Jukyung's Mom's behavior as a joke.
In episode 7, after seeing that Jukyung didn't improve as much as she wanted her to, she actually threw away all her makeup. Even though Jukyung did try, and did improve, it still wasn't enough for her mom. Jukyung's restlessness after not seeing her makeup on her table was palpable through the screen. Finding out that her mother threw all her makeup away sort became her breaking point. We see her yell at her mother and express her feelings for the first time.
Tumblr media
I think it's important to note that Jukyung, who's already finds it very tough to reach out to her courageous side, was inspired by this incident to stand up to her mom, to express her outrage. Saying that makeup meant a lot to her is an understatement.
-
Act 4: "What's the point of looking beautiful with all that makeup on if you're ugly underneath?" -- Verbal Abuse.
Tumblr media
We all get into arguments with our parents from time to time, and I’m sure we’ve all been yelled at by them at some point. Verbal abuse however, is not something that is normal, and the two shouldn’t be confused. A parent who constantly humiliates their child, yells and screams at them, talks down on them is in simple terms, an abuser.
In episode 1, when Jukyung tries makeup on for the first time and goes to school, she gets ridiculed by her bullies and her classmates. Crestfallen, she returns back home after school and goes to her mother for reassurance. Instead of providing that, her mother ridicules her even more and calls her makeup “Ghost Makeup”. This is something abusers often do. Under the guise of teasing the victim, they often attack the victim’s self esteem, appearance etc, to make them feel insecure and to maintain their position of power over them. Jukyung’s mother isn’t very different from those bullies who told Jukyung that she was ugly and made her feel like she could never amount to anything.
Another example that irks me a lot is from episode 3, when Jukyung’s Mom is chewing her out for being late, and suddenly the conversation turns to cosmetics and makeup. This is also one of the traits of verbal abuse. Instead of arguments surrounding the basic issue, they branch out and turn into character assassination. Her mom accuses Jukyung of wasting all her time on makeup instead of studying, even when Jukyung clarifies that she got late because she missed her bus, not because she was out buying cosmetics. But her mom doesn't listen and says to her, “What’s the point of looking beautiful with all that makeup on when you’re still ugly underneath?”
Jukyung’s face after hearing her own mother say that was heartbreaking. Unfortunately, this type of mother-daughter relationship dynamic isn’t something  that is rare. Mothers frequently project their own insecurities on their daughters and put them down. Jukyung’s Mother’s behavior explains her self esteem issues, it gives an insight about where her insecurities really stem from. Sometimes our abuser’s thoughts and image of us start maligning our own self image. Frequently hearing them tell us that we are worthless, and that no one will ever marry us or love us, makes us believe that we are in fact, worthless and incapable of being loved unless we change something about ourselves. We frequently get an insight into how Jukyung thinks of herself throughout the drama.
“It’s not my fault that I was born dumb” (In episode 7, after finding out that her mother threw away her makeup.)
“You know that I’m messed up” (In episode 2, referring to her face, while asking Lee Suho to keep her bare face a secret)
The drama is yet to end so I don’t want to completely write Jukyung’s Mother off as an abuser. I hope she becomes a better mom in the show, I really do. Because Jukyung deserves a loving mother. And Jukyung's mom does in fact have a few redeeming qualities, however, simply love and caring isn’t enough, you need mutual respect, reassurance and effort in each every relationship. We know that Jukyung’s mother is also often labelled as an ugly woman, and she believes that she could only get by through studying well. (“It’s going to be okay as long as you study well” - episode 1). In a world where a woman either has to a exceptionally beautiful to be considered worthy, or be exceptionally intelligent and professional lest she isn’t blessed by beauty, it’s very easy to internalize self hatred and direct it on to other individuals (especially if those individuals are your children). That is why i genuinely find myself rooting for Jukyung’s mother and hoping for a character development arc -- because i understand where she comes from, and because i can empathize with her.

The other students are already inside the classroom everyone was doing there things jugyeong and suha are gossiping to each other taehoon with the other students were talking about soccer.. well suho. He is just quiet as always he never talks.
"hmm where is that monkey?" Soojin thought she was talking about han seojun her biggest hater. They're not friends but they hate each other soojin and seojun? No way they could be friends.
After a minute soojin heard a lot of girls screaming outside the classroom and she knows who it is.
