Lots of Dior this week (was having Dior Addict withdrawals tbh, I'd wear this every day if I could). I like the new Miss Dior Parfum's opening, but wish it stayed as lively and fruity throughout. I wish they'd put a 40ml Sakura online, I want it so bad, but can't really justify the bigger (125ml) size...I keep looking at it though. Plus, can we just bring back Vivienne Westwood fragrances please? They never should've been discontinued, the prices used, beat-up bottles go for on auction sites is eye-watering.

I've been lax with my #scentoftheday round-ups, this one is from 29th Jan-4th Feb. Paco Rabanne Fame Parfum EDP, Kayali Vanilla | 28 EDP, Burberry Goddess EDP (worn twice), Givenchy Irresistible Very Floral EDP (the new one, wasn't keen on it), Floral Street Wild Vanilla Orchid EDP worn with Christian Dior Tobacolor EDP (La Collection Privee) and finally Christian Dior Dior Addict EDP.

scent of the day: vanilla 28 (kayali)

according to perfumetok, i was expecting this to be the vanilla-est vanilla to ever vanilla. imo it isn't that - it's a good fragrance, don't get me wrong, but i don't get bakery vanilla extract from this at all. actually, vanilla is very much secondary to the main notes of white florals, brown sugar, and amber. the sweetness here is very intense, but more mature and sexy. my bf, wholly unprompted, said "something smells like chocolate bonbons!" when i walked in the room. these top & middle notes do indeed create a caramelly praline impression.

this fits into a flormand formula that reminds me of a certain era of victoria's secret's higher-end perfumes (a throwback to first yr of uni when dark angel was my signature scent). imo this has a bit of a 'for the straights' / 'male gaze perfume' vibe to it; not campy or subversive enough to be intended for the hashtag girlie audience, but a safe bet if you wanna be a hit with the general straight male population, or just smell attractive in a somewhat basic, instagram model way. the scent equivalent of wearing victoria's secret lingerie, if you will.

throw and longevity are quite good, and it's unlikely to offend anyone's nose, though beware if you're not fond of sweet scents; this could be too cloying for some. if you like vanilla 28, you'll also like alkemia's luminae, foxfire, or silken tent.

Kayali Yum Pistachio Gelato 33 Review

I really love this! I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but despite negative reviews that had me worried, I was very pleasantly surprised! What stands out to me most in this is an incredibly beautiful bergamot (if I had no knowledge of bergamot, I would think it was lime) and perhaps the sweet rum, and beneath that lies soft airy clouds of marshmallow cream. I know that all the other notes are woven together to make this what it is, but they are very well blended, and it's difficult to pick them out specifically. I actually don't get much pistachio from this - perhaps a whisper blended through, but from having recently eaten pistachio gelato, I do see its inspiration in this. Actual pistachio gelato is not an ultra rich, heavy, decadent dessert - it has a soft and sweet airy quality to it with a gentle pistachio flavor. I think this perfume will be especially wonderful in spring and will not weigh you down in warmer weather. I love sweet fragrances, and this is certainly sweet enough to suit me! This is now one of my favorite Kayali fragrances following behind Musk 12 and Vanilla 28, which thus far have been the only Kayali fragrances that suit my preferences.
