King the Land is the most cliche, tropey drama so far…it’s glorious. I am a simple human with simple wants, like Junho in well tailored suits and the “enemies to lovers” trope romcom with the ice-prince guy and fire spirited woman. Not to mention that Gu Won is probably going to be the ultimate softie for Sa-Rang and have heart eyes for her when they finally admit their feelings for each other.
I don’t care if it’s “not original.” I just need some cliche, lovey-dovey romcom to give me serotonin and make me feel something.

****SPOILERS FOR MOVING, BE WARNED****
okay i'm only on episode 9 of Moving and i'm about to go FERAL because i'm realizing the reason Doosik is absolutely stunned by and drawn to Mihyun is because she's the only one in ANSP that feels like an actual human being.
like imagine doing missions as a black ops agent your whole adult life, making yourself a robot and a tool for anyone's use, slicing off a piece of your humanity every time you cloak yourself in shadows and potentially end people's lives. you follow your orders, and you don't question them. personal agency is for a person in another life. and you know something is wrong, that it's not supposed to be like THIS. but everyone around you just keeps following orders. and you wonder if you're crazy. you wonder if anyone actually knows how insane all this is.
and then she's there. a girl in undercover hanbok, top of her class, "failing" a mission because she actually shows compassion on hurt and afraid people. suddenly you're not alone, and that part of you, your humanity, that you've been suppressing, is screaming to life. someone who isn't a lifeless killing machine. someone who sees hurt and questions it. someone you can be a Person with, because they have been there, too. Doosik sees this spark that fateful night, and he falls. he falls because Mihyun is unquestionably beautiful in her humanity, and Doosik has been wondering if he has it at all. and with her, he has permission to be a human being again.

I love how realistic her character is, she doesn't just shut her feelings off. She gets scared and she still sometimes wants to trust their words. It's nice to see a woman build herself up.

Just finished watching Doona!
My immediate thoughts after the end of episode 9:
*spoilers ahead*
Bae Suzy is so damn gorgeous, it's unfair. I really enjoyed her in Start-Up, which is one of my favorite dramas from last year. In this one she turns up the hotness and shines as Doona. I think, her character could have been fleshed out a LOT more but I see what they were trying to accomplish.
Doona's constant cigarette-in-hand was very off-putting at first, then for a while it went away, then it was back all of a sudden. Points off for the cigarette, it seemed unnecessary after the first couple of episodes.
I was very intrigued by episode 3. When I-ra was introduced as a character, I totally lost interest. You mean there are 3 very attractive women (albeit, one is incredibly annoying) clamoring over this one, basic and boring motherfucker? It made no sense to me.
Despite being incredibly basic and boring, I found Lee Won-jun to be endearing and so handsome. I rooted for him until the very last episode. Even when he was falling over Doona for no apparent reason.
I really wanted Won-jun to fully get taken away by his anger and he never did. I found it a bit disappointing. Not sure what that says about me.
It makes sense when I found out this was a webtoon. The feeling I have after watching this is eerily similar to the feeling I had after watching Nevertheless. I may skim through another watch of that, as I have a draft of my thoughts sitting unfinished for this blog.
In any case, I feel a bit unsatisfied. I feel that the compelling emotional narrative that was built up by episode 4 or 5 started to feel totally empty and lacking substance by episode 9, especially after the drama surrounding Doona's career as an idol started to unfold. It just felt like half-formed ideas that never found feet.
The way this was edited, at times, felt a bit forced. I had trouble following the narrative of some scenes as they were interspersed with flashbacks or views from a different perspective.

🎶 Swear I feel you in my memory
I think I've seen you in my dreams
Maybe you and I have history
But I don't think you know me
Have we met before?
Maybe in another life I knew you
Maybe if I try I'll see right through you
And I'll remember who we were
Have we met before?
Maybe in another time I loved you 🎵

The Law Cafe Finale was as perfect a final episode that one can get in KDramas, the lead pair is as perfect a couple you can get in KDramas. It fed me everything I wanted to see. I’m a complete goner for Lee Seung Gi as Kim Jung Ho and Lee Se Young as Kim YuRi! Oh I have said that before since the start of this drama haven’t I? Well I will never stop saying that ever 😉
