baekhong lost their baby and they never addressed it and baekhong have not moved past it since they use 1031 everywhere and we are at episode 16 and it probably won't ever get addressed because we need to watch cars hitting people and contrived memory loss instead

Y'all I can't bawl my eyes alone so I have decided to inflict pain on here too.
Brace yourself!
I have just watched the pre release clip for this Monday's ep and the realization has flattened me like a bulldozer (I am not kidding)
OG timeline where sol gets into the accident, she was sleeping and Sunjae didn't wanted to disturb her sleep but later after he misses two more stops he gets ready to wake her up but she suddenly herself gets up and gets off the bus while Sunjae is picking up his stuff... And the rest we all know...
Tumblr media
Now take this⤴️ shot and this
Tumblr media
You know what hit me... That from the hospital time where sol screams "why did you save me?" To this bridge meeting what's the constant thing between them, for Sunjae the regret of not waking her up in time, for not saving her in time, therefore when you see him meet her, there's glistening in his eyes as if saying " what if" and he does his routine acts of service, giving her umbrella, the hot pack for hands and asks her how she is getting home, all the while thinking of that same regret, guilt. Sol might not have any recollection but for Sunjae it's just like living the same day
Tumblr media
And to add more salt to wound HE MAKES SURE SHE GETS HOME SAFE THIS TIME, EVEN IF SHE HAS NO OUNCE OF HIS MEMORY
If you watch this scene you'll see how his eyes trails her corridor lights as to when she reaches her apartment
Tumblr media Tumblr media
istg this show has devastated me in way I can't describe!!
It's been ages since a kdrama had this effect on me
Adding more pain:
YOU KNOW HOW HE PANTED HIMSELF WHILE RUNNING TO STOP THE BUS CUZ SHE COULDN'T GET OFF THE BUS... WELLL NOW IT'S ALSO A PAIN PARALLEL TO THE OG TIMELINE

You know one thing that truly was a happy surprise in Queen of Tears? Hyun Woo's friendships and the loyalty they carried.
I've seen a lot of people praising Secretary Na but you also have to acknowledge that Hyun Woo has some really amazing and steadfast friends.
At the start of the show, all his friends were playing the russian roulette of who will handle his divorce case. It was given that it will be one of them, it was also given that they will have to withstand the might of the entire Hong family, which isn't something anyone can survive. But. Although they were scared, they didn't drop it or flee to save their career. They understood that it was something you do for your friend, even if you want to kill the said friend for putting you in the situation. There was also the scene where Yang Ki legitimately wanted to flee in the face of Vincenzo as opposing attorney, but just cursed and went after Hyun Woo. He was really scared of the situation and wanted to be anywhere but there but refrained from fleeing only to support his friend. Then there is also the scene where all his three friends come as his attorney to defend Hyun Woo in the company's hearing for malpractice case. They combined all their specialization to figure out something to get him out of the situation. This is specially monumental because we can see in the show, how every friend or family member related to the Hong's abandoned them in the time of need. Them still sticking with Hyun Woo while he is in middle of such scandal says a lot about them and how much they value loyalty. Yes, there were times where we wanted to bash Yang Ki's head for straying Hyun Woo when it came to Hae In but he did come through as a true friend what with him helping Hyun Woo all the time throughout the investigation.
It's a refreshing counterpoint to the negativity that often surrounds Hyun Woo. In a world where self-interest seems to reign supreme, his friends demonstrate the power of genuine loyalty.

I'm redrawing this Jang Ki-yong & Chun Woo-Hee shot for Elle Korea with Crowley and Aziraphale. I think it's SO them! I'm at 60%, I would say. I hope to post the art next week. 🥳

I am headcanoning so hard that the reason we have some many scrumptious scenes of them horizontal is because they looked at that height difference and thought how else can we take advantage of this and make them on the same level and they thought…let’s makes them lay down a LOT
Tumblr media
Here for it and maybe it’s not a conscious plan so much as me being obsessed with their height difference and hyper aware of it…because it’s not just the laying down it’s anytime their is a choice for them to be on the same level in any way that has me swooning
Tumblr media
Anytime they are getting into each other’s space

scholar and novelist stacey d'erasmo uses a phrase in her writing: "meet me in the if."
it's to do with the nature of imaginative intimacy — the role people go on to play in our lives even after a chance, momentary meeting; never to be repeated.
how they linger, and blossom in memory.
i think it's a beautiful summation of sol and sunjae's love story — "meet me in the if:" the imprecise air of the past — the promise of possibility.
the entirety of lovely runner is steeped in the purple ink of potential — sol and sunjae live between the "what-ifs," the "could-have-beens," the "missed you by just a second."
turning time back gives sol a chance to save him — and gives sunjae a chance to fall in love with her all over again.
to fail in better ways. to get their story right.
to harness the uncertain magic of lives already lived, there to be re-moulded again. reshaped by love.
however this ends, i know what they'll say to each other: "meet me in the if — where you and i will finally make sense."
"where you and i can finally be happy."

I have a fully formed headcanon based on this scene.

After breakfast, sometime around lunch Haein sees Hyunwoo walking in their room, rubbing his chest cause he's getting heart burn from the espresso he drank on an empty stomach. 'Serves him right' she thinks and so she proceeds to tease him mercilessly. He doesn't give in pretending he's fine, acting all cold with her through the pain.
A little while later after his phone call with his friend, he sees korean heartburn medicine that he usually takes laid out for him on the table. He can't help the smile that takes permanent residence on his face.

Queen of Tears really just took a sharp nosedive off a very steep cliff these past 3 episodes. I didn't post anything about the last two episodes since there was nothing to say. I've had issues with some aspects of the drama that I could overlook because Hae In and Hyun Woo were top tier stuff. The break down of a marriage of two people who loved one another finding their way back to each other through medical crisis was so good. It didn't even need the Eun Sung or the family business stuff (it would have made a tighter, more coherent drama but I digress). But the last 3 or so episodes I've lost all patience. We've had:
Hae In's miraculous brain surgery which required no shaving of the hair, which I can overlook because it is a drama. Her memory loss too, as again, it's a drama and it's been hinted at since the beginning. I'm not necessarily thrilled with it but it's fine.
There is no way that Eun Sung would have suddenly become her legal guardian just because Hyun Woo left. It makes NO SENSE. Hae In was clearly there with Hyun Woo. They met with her doctors. There would have been forms and documents signed, with appropriate translators for any language barriers. Eun Sung would not have been able to waltz in and say I am her guardian now. I'm fairly confident of this even without knowing German law.
Hae In's family had people in Germany following her for...reasons??? They did nothing to protect her from Eun Sung? They didn't go to her when Hyun Woo was carted off? To be fair I was kinda fast forwarding part so maybe I missed something.
Hyun Woo's arrest, extradition back to South Korea, finding the evidence to break his case, trail, release and then arrest of the real perpetrator all took place within a month. Which seems absurdly fast. Also they found and arrested the hired hit man but not who hired him??
Hae In is following Hyun Woo, taking notes to figure stuff out for herself yet does not think to look herself up on the internet? Pretty sure there would have been articles about her saying Eun Sung threatened her?
I generally forgive the burned notebook finding its way back to her.
Also, Hyun Woo's sister is married? With a kid? Living overseas?? and we find this out in ep 13 or 14? No pictures of her kid anywhere?? No phone call?
Hyun Woon has been hit by car, by Eun Sung because of course that happened. At least he won't get amnesia, right? RIGHT?
Tumblr media
What a mess.
I still stand by the core story of Hyun Woo and Hae In being the strongest parts, even within the past 3 episodes.
How much do you want to bet they are not even going to address the miscarriage, which was catalyst for their whole marriage falling apart in the final episode. Despite the 1031 being used for pass codes. I've been wanting that from when we found out and it looks like it won't happen. Who knows if Hae In will even get her memory back.
The preview for the final episode doesn't give me much hope, even if we get a nearly 2 hr final episode like Crash Landing on You.
So much wasted potential in the drama. If only they had focused on Hae In and Hyun Woo, and not 20+ other plots.

ECLIPSE's full version of 'Star' is a NEED.
I know we have N.Flying's amazing full original, but they just can't show this and not release it.
Also that cut of In-hyuk kicking right at the downbeat is BRILLIANT.
