"what—what a surprise!"

he began to explain something, but you weren't listening. the way his hair ruffled to cast a shadow below his eyes, the way his teeth shone with his bright, blood-red lips as he smiled, the way fingers drummed on his thigh as he thought of ways to form his sentences. oh shit.

your boyfriend's spiderman.

you ran to get the first aid kit from your closet — that you had for some damn reason. I mean, how often do you have friendly neighborhood spidermen climbing through your window with giant claw-mark-like-wounds in their chest?

so there you were, sitting on his lap as he rested his fingers on your waist, scanning your every reaction to his words as he spoke, absentmindedly, about how he got the biggest cut he's gotten yet; and how he survived it, of course.

and you smacked him, of course. because what would you do, you thought to yourself as you ran your fingers through his hair and made his voice trail off from the sudden touch, if your boyfriend had something happen to him?

but that didn't matter either, you told that part of your mind to shut up as he leaned closer, dragging his surprisingly soft fingers up your back and into your hair, because your boyfriend had nothing happen to him.

haechan barely ever does events. special occasions aka your anniversary is just like any other day minus the date he'd take you on to the place he confessed; you think he just likes the pier and the experience of riding the swan boat and needs an excuse for that.

this, however, leaves you stunt. he pushed you to have you seated on the small dining table in his living room, and you watch him walk and forth trying to follow a recipe.

"babe, why are you cooking? you said you were going to get us a reservation at a hot place?" you ask, propping yourself up with your arm, and he scoffs, "can't you see where the hot is?"

rolling your eyes, you do the same scoff, "why do i need to reserve you?"

you see a smile on your face when he turns to face you and you grin back at him playfully. the boredom of just sitting walks itself to the stove where he was and you watch closely, "can't i help you? you know four hands finishes the work faster,"

clicking his tongue at you, he shakes his head. "watch your hot boyfriend cook for you— jaemin said it'll make you melt yourself at my feet," he explains, standing proudly.

he wore a black tank top and his joggers riding dangerously low on his hips, and if he didn't already know, you reminded him. "i always melt at your feet, and you always look delicious? you aren't doubting my taste now are you?" you glare at him, placing your hands on his waist.

"oohoo, of course not but sometimes i need to remind you what a jackpot you've scored?"

shaking your head, you pressed a chaste kiss on his shoulder and said, "when you dress like this in front of me, i praise the lord above that i can hold you like this," tightening your hold on him, he laughs at your attempt to do what he does.

"you are cute trying to act all dom on me, but i will show you who is on top later tonight—for now, can you tell me where the olive oil is? i can't find it at all," haechan smirks at you, turning to face you completely.

a blush appears on your face when he pecks your lips and grins when he pulls away. "It's at the back there," you point, sighing heavily.

you'd never have the upper hand with haechan, not when he always parades his good looks for you to eye.

and yes, you do your prayers every time he walks into your view not only because he is devilishly hot but also because he is always very sweet whenever you are around and it would be a sin for you to let him go.

the sun sets the room in a warm glow, casting hues of orange and gold. the glasses you’d enjoyed sipping on a cool lemonade in catch a few streams of light, colors of the rainbow refracted onto the coffee table. lounging on the sofa is a drowsy jay clad in a pair of comfortable pajamas (a white t-shirt and dark red sweatpants, really).

the scene on the screen of the laptop resting on the table is paused with you taking a quick break to fill up your bowl with some more popcorn. you had been watching one of jay’s favourite dramas again from the very beginning and even from the kitchen, you can hear him grumbling about how you’d chosen to pause at the worst possible moment in between the action.

“oh, stop pouting. i’m coming.” so used to his antics, you could almost see the way he rolls his eyes at your remark. 

pausing the timer right before the microwave hit zero, you pull out the fresh bach of popcorn. once you’d filled up the bowl, you moved merrily into the small, yet cozy, living room, plopping down next to your adorably unhappy jay. 

your jay. it still feels unreal as he smiles brightly at your return, thanking you for the snack and wrapping an arm around your frame to bring you in closer, resting his cheek on your head. this moment, and every other moment leading up to this very one, is everything you’d ever desired and more. this sense of peace and safety, warmth and comfort– you’ve never been more relaxed (never felt more loved) in your life. and it all had started with him.

your jay.

vincenzo plays on in the background as you seek for the hand he’d decided to rest around your waist, drawing small circles over his skin as you relish in his presence. you can feel his smile eventually growing wider as the clock ticks on, tightening his hold on you to pulls you impossibly closer. he flips his hand around to lace his fingers through yours, still not saying a word, his eyes trained on the show. it doesn’t last long, however, because fatigue starts catching up to him from the busy week’s activity.

you close the laptop when his hand slowly slips out of yours, his chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm. your small adjustment stirs him instantly awake, though, so you chuckle affectionately and lay back against the soft arm of the couch, the furniture barely long enough to accommodate his height. your jay hums contently, still half-sleep while you pull the thin sheet over your shoulders.

you’re facing each other and through your awe at how calm and beautiful he looked whilst battling against sleep, trying to stay awake for a little longer fro your sake, you spot a lash on his cheek. gently brushing a finger over his skin makes him smile, leaning into your touch.

moments like these are what he cherishes the most. for jay, it’s just being next to you (so close), that makes everything worth it. the nightly escapades with pulled hoods and inconspicuous face masks as to not be recognized, the secret rendezvous at hidden locations just so you could see each other again– heading directly to your place any time he gets the chance despite his packed schedules that often times clashed with your during the day, so the only chance you could see each other were well after darkness had settled. moments like these made everything worth it.

too bad he only had this one day off for the next two weeks. he would miss having you by his side terribly. 

he sighs, lazily throwing an arm over your side. “why can’t we stay like this forever?”

you can’t give him an answer (he knows it already and he knows that you know it as well). this was something you’d both discussed about early into your relationship, building the foundation at which your strong bond and understanding of each other (for each other) stood. no words need to be said as he tilts his head to press a tender kiss on your temple.

this moment would not last long, so you do everything you can to make it worth a long while and because it’s jay (your jay), it’s easy to just be happy.

"Hey, can you—Doyoung, Kim Doyoung, can you repeat that for me?"

Pursing his lips, his blinkering eyes watch your phone, gently sizzling out the unstable audio from last night's recording. When you walked into the cafeteria with a flush as soon as your eyes landed on him, he thought it was odd that you were blushing before he even did something to set off your mind to haywire.

Coughing, he tries to stop you. "Uhh—I'm scared, don't play it," he said, his hands trying to snatch your phone away.

"No, you have to listen to it," you insist, pushing his hands prying hands away and you awkwardly smile at him, "Just listen, you need to hear it so you can jog your memory,"

Last night, you and doyoung decided to take a walk around the river side, and somehow, you guys snacked and drank till doyoung was no longer sober. You were used to his usual rambling, going on about his obsessions and his trouble, but then suddenly he paused and said something you knew he wouldn't believe himself. So you pulled out your phone and made him say it again.

"Hey, can you—Doyoung, Kim Doyoung, can you repeat that for me?"

He sighed into your phone, and you remember him clinging to your hands, "I said: I want to kiss you and hold your hands right now—but... but you don't even knooow," he slumped against you.

The warmth of his skin and breath still lingers on your shoulder. You stared at Doyoung carefully, and his face was a bright red. His fuse immediately blew as soon as his voice began sounding.

"What... don't I know?" you asked yesterday, lifting his face up gently.

"You don't know that I like you.... in a not friend way...

"You don't know that I have tried to tell you that at least three times, you don't know anything at all, you are so oblivious to me pulling moves, and like... didn't you see me try to kiss you on new years eve last year? and you let me off!! without even questioning me??? like???

"You... you really don't know anything,"

Present Doyoung's jaws drops, his skin losing colour, but a distinct shade of shyness still remained, "I have no idea what... what to even say..." he breathes out, dropping his face into his palms, and you just stare at him.

"I just need to know—" you abruptly stop yourself, taking a deep breath. Taking both his hands in yours, you continue, "I like you too. Should we start dating each other?"

yunn.txt — this is actually supposed to be the confession bit of a longer fic i intended to write like earlier this year but unfortunately, i now forgot what i was hoping the plot was and i also no longer want to think about what the plot was.

jungwon hasn't slept in three days.

he hasn't gotten a single wink of sleep for over seventy full hours and it just might be the seventy-first hour that finally drives him off the ledge of a cliff that his sanity had been resting on ever since he'd been met with that one question.

gazing at the fireflies mingling amongst the foliage from his position on a hammock hanging from between two tree branches, he chuckles to himself. the shapes and letters he sees the creatures creating as they float around spell out your name (or maybe he's really lost his grip on reality and is hallucinating it all).

jungwon hasn't slept in three days (not quite, but only two hours short of).

the crickets chirp and a low, steady ticking noise joins the entropy of the night, his watch indicating that it is way past midnight and how he should have been asleep already. he wishes that he could, but the question— that question— plagues his every thought.

(do i? but why?) he knows he does, along with all of the reasons why, but his world is tilted at an angle and he needs to know if you do as well if he is to ever find peace again. jungwon knows and (off the very top of his head) can list eighteen reasons why his head spins and his body warms at the mere thought of you.

he brings a hand over his face, running his fingers over his eyes to bring them closed, a shaky sigh escaping his lips. grinning to himself, he watches the stars form constellations of your name. the breeze that gently caresses his face whispers his own in his ear, your voice echoing (a phantom touch on the back of his left hand that you'd held, a whiff of your signature eau de parfum although you are not even there).

you are not there and yet you are everywhere he looks.
