there was a interesting theory about corrin being robin's reincarnation. i'm thinking an angst request with a happy ending of laslow who had a crush on corrin yet starts avoiding her because she was similar to robin. his love was for robin was unrequited due to she was married to chrom, and fear corrin would be the same. at the end, corrin confesses her feelings towards laslow who became delighted.

I think I’ve heard the theory once before, and as I was looking through the supports with Corrin and Robin with Inigo; it’s practically almost the same conversation?? Like, I can definitely see where the theory could come from. But, either way, I hope you enjoy reading this!! I really enjoyed writing this one.（*´▽｀*）

Laslow looked out the window of the lottery shop. He let out a soft sigh, days when the rain poured heavily down against the building it reminded him of home. It was reminiscent to him of the days where him and his old friends would be running from the monsters, safety hard to be found anywhere. The cold rain hitting the window reminded him of the days of traveling he did. His mother smiling so brightly, as she taught him to dance. It reminded him of her, her moonlight hair that was soaked as she cried out to him to be careful. Her warm smile that made his heart skip, her laugh making him smile and the way she could see right through him. He had fallen for her, hard. He knew Morgan wasn’t joking when he said he wouldn’t allowed him to have a pass at his mom. It wasn’t like he could, after all, her heart was already preoccupied. Robin had fallen for Chrom, not him.

So, it made him wonder, after he had tempted fate, changed the way history was made. He was now here, Corrin seeing right through him just as Robin did. The heavy senses of déjà vu hit him hard after their conversations. The two were alike, it was uncanny how similar they were. Both with their white moonlit hair, being tactician’s and playing his heart like fiddle. He let out another sigh, longer this time. He knew he had a unique, problem with the ladies. But he couldn’t stop himself falling for Corrin. Corrin was kind, gentle and very caring but she could hold her own. She could pick and win battles, successful no matter what.

However, there was a moment, when he had realized his feelings. Was he projecting the feelings he had on Robin onto Corrin? If the answer to that question was yes, he definitely didn’t deserve her hand. He truly believed that would be worse than being fundamentally rejected, nevertheless he was starting to get used to being rejected at this point. But he knew, this love that had bubbled and grown on him was love for Corrin. Nothing about misplacing his affections on her because she looked or acted like Robin. There was nothing like that going on. Corrin wasn’t married either, at least not yet.

He pulled his attention away from the window to the empty space that was the entrance of the Lottery shop. There weren’t really good prizes, except perhaps winning Corrin’s heart. Maybe he would use that on her when she walked in next, or whomever walked in through the door. A heavy sigh escaped his lips again. His heart felt heavy on the matter. Perhaps avoiding her would be the best option, even though he really enjoyed himself at their little tea time the other day. He couldn’t let himself fall into this again, unrequited love just once was hard to handle, never mind going through it a second time.

“Ah, hello Laslow.” Corrin said, smiling brightly, her fangs just noticeable.

“Good Evening, milady. May I suggest a try at our amazing lottery? However, it hardly compares to you.” His heart skips a beat. He should’ve heard the door open; it wasn’t raining that heavily. He was too wrapped up in his thoughts. He saw her roll her eyes at the compliment, he let out light laugh as she approached.

“I shall give it a spin.” She said, eyes solely focused on the wheel. He nodded as she reached for it, giving it a good spin.

“May I bring to your attention, that the grand prize is tea time with me?” Laslow says, heavy suave tone. Corrin gives him a quick look, her large red eyes lingering on him for a second before going back to the wheel.

“If you wanted to have tea with me, Laslow, you know you just have to ask. No need for the grand show.” Corrin said. A slight blush appeared on his cheeks. Damn, it wasn’t supposed to be him blushing!

“Oh, well…” Laslow paused, eyes watching the wheel slowly come to a stop. The little ball that left the wheel was a shining gold. He heard Corrin giggle.

“Looks like I won the grand prize. So tea time and…?” Corrin said, trailing off. It took him a moment before kicking into gear. He blinked owlishly at the golden orb.

“…Right!” Laslow turned on his heel, eyes looking for the prize. Hands quickly swiping at the eternal seal. “Here you are, milady. However, I think the real prize would be winning your heart.” Gods, why was he doing this to himself. Corrin just shook her head, hands gently taking the eternal seal from him.

“Of course, you would suggest that. How many other ladies have you told that too?” Corrin said, a slight exasperated smile on her lips. Laslow gave her a large grin.

“Just you, Lady Corrin.” He said confidently. The blush that had crept its way to her cheeks gave him a silent victory. She waved him off, mumbling something that he couldn’t hear. “Can’t wait to have tea with you, milady!” He calls out as she leaves with a hurry.

He waits exactly a minute after the door was shut before hiding behind the desk. Crouching down and covering his face. What a fool he was. He said, that he was going to avoid her. He said, that this would be best, she couldn’t possibly like him. By the Gods above, he didn’t hail from this kingdom. There was so much that could go wrong. He could die, shecould die, she could end up leaving him, she could be in love with another. She could decide that she wouldn’t go with him when he goes back. When did the clouds of doubt surround him?

It was a broken cycle he had put himself into. He wanted to keep up appearances, but he ends up doing the opposite of what he wanted. Why was Corrin here, and there? Why was she suddenly accepting his offers? He understood she had a change of heart after their morbid little talk, but had it truly changed her mind that much?

They had their tea served, curtesy of Jakob, but he could feel the daggers from his icy glare the entire time they chatted over tea. Amicably enjoying themselves, Corrin more so then himself. She looked happy the entire time; however, he had a heavy heart. His chest would physically ache at her bright smile. Her laugh seemingly infectious. It was so hard to even think he could avoid her, but they were other things at play here. He was sure she loved another. For all his luck, she could be in love with the so-called best friend of hers, Silas, or maybe even the easily lost dog that she seemingly picked up, Keaton. It was starting to become all too much.

So, when their little tea time had finally finished, he tried his best not to seem in a rush as he exited the doors of her room. He wasn’t sure how long he could keep this up, his flirting was starting to become the real thing. She would be bound to figure it out sooner or later. Odin and Selena already have, he’s absolutely sure Xander is having suspicions. He sighed heavily, shaking his head. He was going to have to be stricter with himself.

Nevertheless, every time she passed his sight and went on with the next task, his heart couldn’t stop the aching. The times she would approach him, would get his chest to physically hurt. It would hurt him even more when she would suggest they have tea, but then have her reject him when he said Xander had him on the ropes. It wasn’t the truth, most of the time. There were actual times he couldn’t join her, because of his inappropriate behaviour towards fellow soldiers. It was the only excuse she wouldn’t question him on. But, he thought, that this would be for the best. He thought, that this would be the best plan of action to try and keep his little feelings to himself. However, it was starting to become unbearable for a few others.

Selena glared at him hard when he turned his attention back towards her. The tapping of her foot, showing a grand sign that she wasn’t happy. The furrowed brow and crossed arms were the usual sign of her normal attitude, but the tapping wasn’t a good sign.

“Now, now, dear Selena—” Laslow tried to save face. Key word tried.

“Do you even know how unbearable this is? The longing looks, and the wistful mumbles. Honestly, this was so much worse than it was back at home.” Selena grumbled out. Annoyance clear in her voice.

“Please, Selena take care of the volume of your voice.” Laslow said, quickly looking around the two of them as she rolled her eyes. “But, it is really that bad?” Selena gave him a deadpan expression, to which he hung his head too.

“Jakob, Odin, Lilith, half of the retainers, Charlotte, Benny and perhaps, you know, half of the freaking army!!” Selena yelled at him. “Know that you are crushing hard. Just man up and tell her, Laslow.” He sighed heavily.

“I can’t, I doubt she would even come with me.” Laslow said in a quiet voice. Selena’s anger quickly dissipated. She inhaled deeply, placing a hand on his shoulder.

“Corrin’s quite welcoming, so, the possibility of coming with you would be very high, but that’s only if you confess to her.” Selena said. Eyes going soft for her friend. Laslow only shook his head. “You’ll never know if she loves you or not, if you don’t dosomething, Inigo.” She whispered out his name. He looked to her for a moment, almost as if he looked like he was considering it, but he just looked sadly at her and shook his head.

“Enjoy the rest of your day, Selena.” He said, turning away from her.

“You can only last so long before you ‘fess up, Laslow!!!” Selena yelled after him.

It had been two weeks, maybe even three weeks that he had been avoiding Corrin. He would like to say he was successful in avoiding her, but when the next battle came. He was paired up with her. He could already hear Xander’s voice telling him to watch the battlefield and look out for her, and if anything happened to her, he would have his head.

He stood by Corrin for a good part of the battle, saving her from the occasional blow and even coming in to land the killing blow. Although, he could see it was starting to take a toll on her. Her sword strikes were more sluggish, and she had a hard time keeping the enemy at bay. Laslow had even told her that he could take the lead, let her rest for a while; she refused.

“Milady Corrin, please reconsider. You’re exhausted, let me take the lead.” Laslow said concerned.

“I got this, Laslow. There’s no need to worry.” Corrin said, but she was breathing heavily. Laslow stared at her, she was going to kill herself.

“You will not have it when you are laying dead on the ground.” Laslow said harshly. Corrin looked at him in shock. Large red eyes wide as his words sink in. She had never seen the look of anger across his face before, never mind hearing it. It had hit her like a bag of bricks, but wait, bricks weren’t hot.

She looked up and away from Laslow, seeing the enemy mage preparing another spell. She gave a quick glance towards her legs. They were fine, sore maybe but her left hip was the problem. A fire spell, a powerful one at that. She didn’t like how burned armour smelled like, the same with flesh. Corrin went to raise her sword, preparing herself for the attack, but Laslow came in front of her.

A yell was stuck in her throat as she reached out to him. She saw him take on the brunt of the attack, his clothes singeing, and his grunt of pain made her heart sink. No, no, she had him here with her so she could prevent this. So she wouldn’t have to worry about him risking his life, how naïve can she be. Her fingers brushed against his shoulder, pulling herself forward as she let out a war cry. Running her blade through the mage, before she turned her attention back towards him.

Laslow, tried to calm his breathing. Trying not to hyperventilate, trying not to let the pain get to him. He would survive, he had too. Gods, Corrin’s face probably hurt him more than the wound. He gripped the pommel of his sword tighter as her tried to pull himself up, blade digging into the dirt.

“Laslow…! Laslow, how bad is it?!” Corrin fretted as she drew close. He let out a groan as he stood on his feet.

“I’ll, survive milady.” He took a deep breath in, eyes closing for a moment. The pain would soon fade, at least he hoped.

“Gods, Laslow…” Her tone had caught him off guard. She sounded scared but also relieved. His eyes opened to see Corrin on the edge of tears. “I had feared… Please, don’t do that again.”

“I’m sorry, milady, I didn’t mean to make you so upset.” Laslow said, brow furrowing. “However, I cannot promise you that I won’t do it again. It’s a retainer’s duty to protect the Royalty.” Corrin shook her head.

“I don’t care, I don’t want you risk your life like that again.” Corrin demanded. Laslow let out a scoff but quickly regretted doing so. Pain shooting through him.

“Lady Corrin, don’t be unreasonable. I’m Lord Xander’s retainer—”

“I don’t want to lose you!” Corrin cried out. Laslow froze, eyes wide at her declaration. “I know you’ve been avoiding me. I don’t know why but you have been. So, I thought having you by my side would hopefully get you to talk to me in some shape or form. I wanted to talk, I enjoy having you around, and when I get the chance to actually talk to you. There’s entire person worth knowing.”

“Corrin…” Laslow said in awe. Corrin glared at him sadly.

“We’ll talk more back at camp. It will be more appropriate.” She said turning around.

“Uh… Right.” Laslow trailed behind her. He had hoped the battle was coming to a close, the two had quite a discussion waiting for them.

So, here he was, sitting in the healers tent across of Corrin who wouldn’t stop fidgeting. Playing with her own fingers or playing with the edge of the bandage on her thigh. He couldn’t say he was feeling any better than her. His own wound was wrapped up and, on its way, to being healed. It itched and it was tempting to rip off the bandages, but someone needed to start the conversation.

“So, you don’t want to lose me, or did I hear you wrong?” Laslow said quietly, not being able to hold eye contact with the princess. He had hope, for what, he wasn’t quite sure yet. He heard her breathe in deeply.

“You heard correctly.” Corrin paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts before she spoke again. “When I saw you take the hit for me, I was scared. I had believed we had grown close, you and I. But then, for some reason, you started to avoid me. I didn’t really notice at first, after a week I was starting to wonder why.” She looked to him, but he still hung his head. They waited for a moment, before she went to speak again. “I had checked in with Xander after the fifth time you told me. He told me that you weren’t being looked after at the moment. So, why avoid me, Laslow? You looked like you enjoyed my company.”

“I do, enjoy your company, Lady Corrin.” Laslow said. “More than you think.”

“Then why avoid me? I treasure you, with all my heart, Laslow.” Corrin said, desperate. Trying to understand. Laslow picked up his gaze from the ground to her at her words. “I don’t want you to take another hit like that again because I carefor you. I don’t want you to perish, it-it would devastate me.” Laslow felt his heart leap to his throat.

“I-I-I was avoiding you because, I had feelings for you that were growing out of my control.” Laslow said, starstruck. “I was sosure, that your heart was held for someone else. That-that you wouldn’t love me for the incorrigible flirt that I am. Corrin…” Laslow watched as Corrin’s shoulders relaxed, tears threatening to spill.

“You’re such a fool, Laslow. What happened to that confident aura you had? Claiming that the stars would mine if I had only asked. Why did you keep your feelings from me?”

“Corrin, it’s all an act, somewhat, but that doesn’t matter. My feelings for you, had made me scared. I was in love once before, and it was unrequited. “Even to the ends of the world?” Laslow said, his words meaning so much more.

“I’d follow where ever you go, just as long you don’t forget about me.” Corrin said, a cheeky smile appearing on her lips. Laslow finally let himself breathe, a genuine smile appearing on his lips.

“I could never forget you, Corrin.” He never will forget the bright smile she had. He’ll never forget her laughter as it made him feel warm, and he’ll never forget the gentle caresses across his skin as she dragged him along. He would never forget her, he would just hope his family would never forget him as he stayed here, fighting a war that was now his to fight.

Hey, since I’m back, I thought I’d share my Fates otps! A good friend of mine told me to pair up whoever I want and forget stats and that’s what I wanted to do.
