Chief Keef Ascends with Highly Anticipated 'Almighty So 2' Album
Tumblr media
With over a decade in the game and a litany of followers in his wake, Chief Keef pushes rap music forward with every release. Today, the 28-year-old artist releases his highly-anticipated album Almighty So 2, via his own label, 43B, formed last year in a joint venture with BMG and RBC Records. The new album is the sequel to one of Sosa's most acclaimed and influential projects, 2013's Almighty So. Spanning 16 tracks, Almighty So 2 explores beyond the mind-expanding territory staked out in the original, creating a grand-scale epic that ranks among the best works of the proud Chicago native's incredible career.
Crafted over a period of two years, Almighty So 2 is largely produced by Sosa himself. The young auteur mostly eschews melody on the new album–instead, he resolves to showcase his prodigious abilities as an emcee, sharpening his pen and emptying out his arsenal of flows. Sosa throws his entire body into his vocal performances, whether he's building in intensity until he reaches a thunderous crescendo, or delivering his smirking punchlines with an audible disrespect.
Starting with the towering intro "Almighty," which expertly features a sample of Carl Orff's iconic "Carmina Burana," the early part of the album uses liturgical and classical music samples to establish Almighty So as a larger-than-life, nearly mythical figure, who was ready for stardom since before he was even born ("I was born in '95, I been ready since '91/Let's give a thanks to the God, yeah the mighty one/B*tch, I'm almighty, I'll shoot ya with my mighty gun," he shouts).
After he demonstrates his imperial might, Sosa proves that there's no sound he can't warp until it fits his expansive sonic palette. Keef duets with the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown, on "1,2,3" and warps a hidden 70s gem on the Nancy Wilson-sampling "Runner." The haunting "Prince Charming" features Sosa's take on the Detroit sound, with squelching bass and propulsive hi-hats, while the flute-inflected cloud-trap of "Drifting Away" pays tribute to the underground sound he helped inspire before Sosa reminds the audience who really invented drill.
Though the production is a one-man show, Sosa welcomes a series of kindred spirits to share the mic. He and new favorite collaborator Sexyy Red unite over churning french horns on "Grape Trees," while Quavo brings his dulcet melodies and triplet flows to "Never Fly Here," and fellow drill pioneer and South Sider G Herbo joins the fray for the oh-so-Chicago "Neph Nem." Tierra Whack makes an unexpected appearance on "Banded Up," delivering a double-time verse as blistering as any released this year. Featuring additional appearances from Sosa's 43B signee Lil Gnar and longtime associate Ballout, Almighty So 2 is available to stream on all platforms via 43B / RBC Records.
Almighty So 2 continues an incredibly busy 2024 for Chief Keef. In March, Sosa teamed with Mike-WiLL Made-It for DIRTY NACHOS, an acclaimed mixtape. Hosted by Trap-A-Holics and featuring guest spots from Sexyy Red and 2 Chainz, DIRTY NACHOS finds the two street titans harkening back to the classic mixtape era on singles like the furious "DIRTY NACHOS" and "DAMN SHORTY." Recently, Sosa collaborated with Sexyy Red on two singles from her Hood Hottest Princess (Deluxe)–"Ghetto Princess," and "Bow Bow Bow (F My Baby Mama)," and teamed up with Lil Yachty for "Say Ya Grace," a highlight from All Is Yellow, the first album by Lyrical Lemonade. The song's Cole Bennett-directed video reached the top 5 of YouTube's Trending chart, and racked up over 3 million views in its first week of release (8.5 million total). Chief Keef makes his long awaited return to Chicago on June 16th, performing his first show in his hometown since 2012, at Lyrical Lemonade’s Summer Smash.
With Almighty So 2 out now, Sosa continues to build his legacy as one of the most innovative and influential rappers in the history of the game.

In the latest GGN sneak peek, Chief Keef drops by the studio to talk with Uncle Snoop, who can relate to both having your gangster music blamed for violence that predated it, and the struggle to stay out of the streets after achieving success. 3 Chief Keef Talk To Snoop Dogg, Put simply, downloads using this software program are brief and fluid. Now signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Brick Squad Records, he’s preparing to release his fourth studio album, The Dedication, in November. The dark side of Chicago, which he captured in his genre-pushing tracks, was threatening to take him under.įollowing the shooting deaths of his cousin and stepbrother, and his eviction from his Highland Park home, Keef moved west to L.A., where he’s reportedly found a measure of peace and inspiration to do more with his talent and position. Even as he started a 2012 label bidding war that landed him at Interscope Records to release his debut studio album, Finally Rich, Keef was facing criminal charges for assault with a firearm. When the 22-year-old rapper, producer, label owner, and designer from Chicago’s South Side started gaining notoriety in 2011 on the strength of his mixtapes and singles including “I Don’t Like” and “Love Sosa,” he seemed to embrace the nihilistic violence of his troubled hometown. The New Testament of Music
I talked about hip-hop from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s in the last post but what about the current state of hip-hop and what it is today. The big names of hip-hop today are people like Tyler, The Creator, Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, Drake, and Cheif Keef. From 2012 to today they have been the pioneers of what hip-hop sounds like and is viewed as by the general public. Each of these people have their own unique sound and style that sets them apart from the others with Tyler's creativity and production to Kendrick's storytelling and influence they're all different. Tyler was born in Hawthore, California in 1991. He started his music career with the group Odd Future which began in 2007. They released their first album in 2008 called "The Odd Future Tape", but they were really shoved into the spotlight when they stared in their own show on Adultswim called "Loiter Squad" where Tyler was quickly seen as a fan favorite. Tyler released his first solo album, Bastard, in 2009 when he was still associated with the group and Tyler would stay this way until a lot of the other members would also pursue solo careers and fizzle out. Odd Future is still considered together while they have a clothing line and partner with shoe companies like Converse, they're just not actively making music together. Tyler's Latest album, "Call Me if You Get Lost", won the Grammy for rap album of the year in 2021.
Tumblr media
Kendrick Lamar, Born in Compton, 1987, Kendrick sees himself as the reincarnation of Tupac and the one to carry on his legacy. Kendrick Lamar made his major label debut with his album, "Good Kid, m.A.A.d City". This album has made almost 2 million sales with 242,000 of those being in the first week. It debuted at number 2 on the billboard top 200 and was the highest earning first week album sales for a male artist that year. Kendrick has won 15 Grammys over the years but is yet to win the big one, album of the year. He could win it this year though with his latest album, "Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers" in talks to be nominated. "Good Kid, m.A.A.d City" wasn't the only big album released in 2012 with Cheif Keef's "Finally Rich" released that year as well. Keith Cozart was born in southside Chicago in 1995. He caught the attention of Kanye West and made multiple songs including a remix of one Keefs most popular songs, "I Don't like", featuring multiple chicago and New York based rappers like Big Sean and Pusha T. Kanye helped push the careers of other artists such as Kid Cudi, a Cleveland born rapper who debuted in 2009. Cudi caught the attention of Kanye when he ran into him at a record store in 2009 and gave him a flash drive with his mixtape, "A Kid Named Cudi", on it. Cudi has gone on to work with artists like Travis Scott, Denzel Curry, and JID. Cudi has also dabbled in acting when he stared in the 2022 A24 film "X".

Chief Keef & Mike WiLL Made-It Serve Up "Dirty Nachos"
Tumblr media
After spending much of 2023 in the lab, formulating hip-hop's next evolutionary phase, Chief Keef is once again ready for the limelight. Firing the first salvo in what will be a triumphant 2024 for the young icon, Sosa shares "Dirty Nachos," a new single and video created in collaboration with GRAMMY-winning and multi-platinum producer, Mike WiLL Made-It. Floating above the Ear Drummers CEO's chaotic confection of screeching synths and subsonic 808s, Sosa works a clipped cadence, establishing himself as the king of the jungle and casually dismissing his opposition with sly turns of phrase: "Light ya up, L.E.D. strip, n****/Act like you got it locked, you get zipped, n****." In the video, Sosa and Mike WiLL Made-It kick it with a crew that includes longtime associates like Tadoe and Keef's 43B signee Lil Gnar. Decked in Gallery Dept., Sosa whips an Escalade from the Ear Drummers studio to a private jet, throwing down the gauntlet for anyone who can not, or dare not, roll like he does.
youtube
"Dirty Nachos" is part of Chief Keef and Mike WiLL Made-It's previously announced collaborative project, which includes previously released singles like "Bang Bang" and "Status." The 28-year-old rapper is currently hard at work putting the finishing touches on Almighty So 2. The follow-up to one of Sosa's most mind-bending projects (2013's Almighty So, home to hits like "Blew My High") Almighty So 2 follows in the wake of 2022 singles like "Racks Stuffed Inna Couch," "Chief So," and "Tony Montana Flow." The hotly-anticipated Almighty So 2 drops later this year via 43B, Chief Keef's record label, formed in a joint venture with BMG.
Uncountably prolific, yet never seeming to run out of ideas, Chief Keef is embarking on a new chapter of his storied career. In 2022, he announced the formation of 43B, his new record label formed in conjunction with BMG, and signed its first artist, Lil Gnar. The two 43B artists combined for the single “Almighty Gnar,” a beat-shifting banger, and reconnected in 2023 for the fiery "PB&J," which also featured Young Nudy. In December 2021, the rapper shared his critically acclaimed project 4NEM, home to viral single “Yes Sir” and titanic opener “Bitch Where,” prominently used in the fourth season of FX’s Atlanta and recently included in Pitchfork’s Best Singles of 2022 list, and founded his new Web3 venture DigiGlo. Most recently, Sosa collaborated with Sexyy Red on two singles from her Hood Hottest Princess (Deluxe)–"Ghetto Princess," and "Bow Bow Bow (F My Baby Mama)."
Most recently, Sosa teamed up with Lil Yachty for "Say Ya Grace," a highlight from All Is Yellow, the first album by Lyrical Lemonade. The song's Cole Bennett-directed video has already gone viral: the song reached the top 5 of YouTube's Trending chart, and racked up over 3 million views in its first week of release.
With Almighty So 2 on the way and more milestones to achieve, Chief Keef plans to make 2024 his own. Stay tuned for much more.

Lamont aka Mont: Oldest sibling. 37 years old. Married to Alexis. Has one son. Next head of the family. Skilled in virtual hacking and long rang shooting. Father is Anthony Jayde. Mother is Yaquasia Jayde.
Growing up Lamont remembers watching his parents struggle while other people lived a life of luxury. Anthony's brother was the one who started the gang and when he was killed, Ant stepped up and soon things were turning for the better. Lamont loved his father and wanted to be just like him, so he made it his goal in life to be the best so he could help his father with whatever he would need. Lamont and Alexis are childhood sweethearts that started dating in high school. Their son, Keith, was born two years after they were married.
Travon aka Tego: Second oldest sibling. 35 years old. Not married. No children. Skilled in weapons training and hand to hand combat. Ex-Marine. Father is Anthony Jade. Mother is Ihyana Cozart
Travon got his nickname during a fight that broke out after school between his brother Lamont and a few other kids. Lamont told him to run, but Travon stayed and helped his brother. Tego was a joke that just stuck and Travon prides himself on his nickname. He will never leave his family behind, no matter what. Travon’s mother was killed shortly after she gave birth by Yaquasia who wanted revenge. Ihyana drugged and raped Anthony to gain a higher status.
Curtis aka Curt: Third oldest sibling. The middle child. 33 years old. Not married. Has a daughter and two sons with Shavonn Hobbs. Skilled in medical practice and substances. The family doctor. Father is Anthony Jayde. Mother is Yaquasia Jayde.
When Curtis was younger, he was always worried when someone got hurt; be it a person or animal. When Curtis’ mother was pregnant with Arissa, he stuck by her side and loved to feel his baby sister kick. His mom’s water broke when the two of them were out shopping and it freaked him out since his mom was in a lot of pain during her delivery. Ever since, Curtis vowed to stop anyone’s pain and he set his mind on becoming a doctor. He started dating Shavonn in his third year of college and they have been on and off for years. They have three children together, Gina, Quinn, and Anthony Jr. They are currently separated.
William aka Billie: Fourth oldest sibling. The baby boy. 30 years old. Married to Sasha Pierce. No children. Skilled in law and accounting. Family accountant. Father is Anthony Jayde. Mother is Yaquasia Jayde.
William grew up knowing nothing but good times. He enjoyed the finer things in life and often wondered how it all came to be. William was gifted at a young age with numbers and Anthony took notice. When he was old enough, Anthony told William what he did for a living and passed him off to Lamont. Not wanting his baby brother to see the dirty side of their lifestyle, Lamont pointed William in the cleaner direction, money. While in high school William took care of his older brother’s allowances and soon got the nickname Billie, since he always had money on him. Sasha came into the picture later after collage when William was opening a new bank account for the family. Sasha was his teller, and it was love at first deposit.

My thoughts on the Sanders Sides Spotify playlists- Roman Edition!
Note: this is Purely me saying whether or not I like the songs, not theorising about any deeper meanings. I’ve done them all, so just click on the names to see my reactions to the others: Virgil, Patton, Logan, Janus
Impressions from looking through the playlist: so This One I can confidently say I know more of the songs from. At least, from the titles I do. It helps that I probably have the most personal overlap of music taste with Roman, judging by the titles I recognise sjdksk
1: ‘A Gay Disney Prince’, by Thomas Sanders, Jon Cozart. I have never heard of this song ever before, and don’t have any clue who the singers are. This song totally wasn’t on my ten hour playlist up until the moment I was playing said playlist in the kitchen while baking with my mother and it came up and I felt awkward by the innuendos at the start. And I absolutely hated it, can’t believe it was in this playlist at all. I do not know it word for word at all, and me mentioning in my schools lgbt+ club when it was released definitely didn’t result in a large majority of us bonding over our shared love of Thomas Sanders.
2: ‘Wonderboy’, by Tenacious D. I have mixed feelings on this song? Some part of me really liked it, but another really didn’t. I don’t know. I still added it to the 32 hour playlist though, as I figure I can remove it at some point in the future if that opinion eventually wins out. It was entertaining, at least!
3: ‘Disney Princess’, by Lewberger. Despite my enduring love for Keith and the rest of The Try Guys, I haven’t actually listened to that much Lewberger. This is obviously a fault that I will be remedying as soon as possible, as this song was hysterical. Obviously made it onto the 32 hour playlist, and also theres a tiny part of me getting excited over some of my faves interacting in a vague way even though I know that it’s not that unusual dhxkkdks
4: ‘Broadway, Here I Come!’, by the SMASH cast. I’ve never seen SMASH, but I liked this song! I like showtunes and songs from musicals a lot of the time, but I also only tend to listen to them when I’ve actually seen whatever they’re from, and I’m a poor 17 year old who can’t sing or act and can only slightly dance, so there’s not as many as there otherwise would be in my 32 hour playlist. This is on there now though!
5: ‘Hallelujah’, by Oh Wonder. I liked this! I expect I’ll be saying that a lot in this playlist ndjfjskdkd. I actually added it to my ten hour playlist!! Which will mean nothing to you if you haven’t read my other reactions so I recommend u go do that!! At least Patton’s/Virgil’s as they’re the ones completed at the time of writing this! Lmao
6: ‘Holding Out for a Hero’, by Bonnie Tyler. Have to say, as a gen z who grew up more with Shrek than Footloose, hearing the original version of this song was wild. I’ve heard it before, obviously, but I just. Hear this song in the fairy godmothers voice when I imagine it. This was added to the 32 hour playlist though!!
7: ‘If I Dare’, by Sara Bareilles. I’ve never seen Battle of the Sexes (unsurprisingly; I don’t watch many movies jdjdkkskw) but this song was cool! I wouldn’t purposefully seek it out in the future, but I liked it enough to put it on the 32 hour playlist so it’ll come around every now and again.
8: ‘Go the Distance’, by Roger Bart. This song highlighted the big, gaping hole in my 32 hour playlist which is the lack of music from Hercules. It’s literally my favourite Disney Renaissance film, why the fuck was the soundtrack not already in the 32 hour playlist??? It is now, don’t worry. Also, at the end of these I’m gonna be rechecking the length of both the 32 hour playlist and the 11 hour one and giving an updated total as I’ve only added 1 song so far to the 32 hour long on that wasn’t prompted by one of the songs in these playlists, and I doubt I’ll add any more, and adding all of the Hercules soundtrack + bonus tracks added another whole hour in of itself. There’s a r e a s o n this playlist has gotten so long shfjdjskxm
9: ‘Flamboyant’, by Dorian Electra. This is the first song of this playlist that I haven’t really liked, even including wonderboy. It didn’t make it onto either playlist, but I probably wouldn’t skip it if it comes up on a playlist in the future.
10: ‘Jumpstarted’, by Jukebox the Ghost. This was a bop! I often seem to like songs that jump all over the place a lil bit (see: my love of Tiny Love by MIKA and my newfound love of Be Calm by Fun.), and this one did just that! It made it to the 32 hour playlist 😄
11: ‘Brave New Girl’, Britney Spears. I mean. It’s Britney Spears. Do I need to say anything more? It’s been added to the 32 hour playlist.
12: ‘Every Boy’, by Miss Benny. If I tell y’all that ‘Boys will be Boys’ and ‘Little Game’ were the first two songs I ever added to the 32 hour playlist, I think you’ll know my feelings on this song. It’s the second first one that was already on said 32 hour playlist out of all the songs so far, and the only reason it’s not on the 10 hour one is I didn’t deem it ‘normal people music’ enough (which is the main criteria for said playlist as I play it around my fam)
13: ‘Primadonna’, by MARINA. This was a bop! I added it to the 32 hour playlist, but I don’t expect myself to specifically seek it out in the future. I did bop around to it a lil bit while lying down tho!!
14: ‘King’, by Years and Years. I didn’t recognise this song at first, but it hit the singing and I was like ‘oh!!’. It got added to the 32 hour playlist!! It’s a Bop!!!
15: ‘Cheap Queen’, by King Princess. The title and artist combination gave me a chuckle, and although I wasn’t foully sold on the song when it first started, I liked it enough by the end to add it to the 32 hour playlist. I feel like it’ll grow on me more as I hear it again in the future.
16: ‘Humility (feat. George Benson)’, by Gorillaz. My best friend was obsessed with Gorillaz when we first met, so I’ve heard a lot of their music (although this song wasn’t out back then). I liked it, and added it to the 32 hour playlist, but I probably wouldn’t seek it out specifically as I only slightly vibe with Gorillaz music
17: ‘Ain’t Got It Like That’, by Earl St Claire, PJ. I liked this, but not enough to add it to the 32 hour playlist. It was good, and I wouldn’t skip it in the future if it came up in a playlist, it just wasn’t my jam.
18: ‘Dreamer’, by LaPeer. I liked this as soon as it started, and that initial instinct proved correct! I added it to b o t h the 32 hour playlist and the ten hour one!!! I know!! It made me feel kinda soft and also the message in it is Important
19: ‘Paving the Runway (You’re Gonna Fly)’, by JJ Heller. This is another one I sensed myself liking as soon as it started, and I once again had good instincts! This one was even softer, but I liked it slightly less so it’s only on the 32 hour playlist.
20: ‘GO.’, by Keith Tutt II. This song immediately intrigued me, partially because I wasn’t initially even fully sure if it had started or if I was hearing things. I liked it, but wouldn’t specifically seek it out. It did make it into the 32 hour playlist though!!
Final Thoughts: What a shock, I liked the playlist filled with musicals and pop the most (so far)!! It’s a miracle!! It’s almost like I tend to like musicals and pop!! But yeah, I wasn’t surprised that most of this playlist fit into my music tastes. My favourite new song would probably be Dreamer, followed by Hallelujah. 18/20 got added (technically 16/20 as two were already there but u get me) to the 32 hour playlist and 2 to the 10 hour one.
