After checking for Keller Dover everywhere- his house, the liquor stores, the church the family attended, and the creepy small town survival gear store- he was no where to be found. You even showed people his picture and asked if they’d seen him, but no luck.
Where in the hell else could he have been??
Ugh
Poor Alex Jones..Can’t believe Keller would do that to him- Wait.
A sick feeling came over you, the kind of feeling you got when looking a murderer in the eyes, or when you get a confession in the interrogation room from someone you know is guilty. That feeling.
Maybe Dover was having a PTSD episode, a psychotic break, or worse, a murderous rampage- His missing daughter driving him to the brink of insanity. He always blamed Alex for the girl’s disappearance, but now that he was done with Alex, maybe he got it in his mind to go after Holly Jones next.
Now knowing what Keller was capable of, you jumped in the car and drive out to the Jones’ residence. You didn’t want Holly to end up like her son.
You called Loki, seeing if he would meet you at the Jones’s place. Better to have a partner in these types of situations.
It rang and rang until it went to voicemail.
Weird.
He usually picked up on the first couple of rings.
That’s okay though. You’d just go by yourself, proceeding with extra caution.
You never thought more of Keller Dover than a concerned parent, in light of recent events, maybe Loki’s obsession with the man wasn’t completely unfounded.
As you headed to the Jones residence, that sick feeling only grew. Nagging at you from the inside.
You tired to call Loki again.
No answer.
Your next step was to call O’Malley, maybe he knew why Loki wasn’t answering.
“O’Malley.” He answered quickly.
“Have you heard from Loki recently?”
“I sent him to notify Holly Jones about Alex about, oh-“ he paused. “A little bit ago.”
Your stomach dropped, your mind automatically assumed the worst. Not that David couldn’t handle himself, but that you tended to worry.
“Why, is everything alright?” He asked,
“I can’t reach Loki, phones going to voicemail. I’ve been searching for Keller Dover, I thought Dover might’ve gone for Holly or something. I’m gonna go over there and check.”
“Let me know if I need to send a unit over.”
“Thanks captain.”
You decided to hightail it to the Jones’ residence. Safely of course, the unfamiliar Pennsylvania roads combined with the darkness and the sleet made driving difficult.
As you were driving, your mind was on Loki. Of course you were thinking about Anna, but in the back of your mind was the earlier unfinished conversation between you and Loki. All the ‘what if’ scenarios swirled around in your brain. What did he want to talk to you about? It was killing you. You thought there was a chance Loki liked you, but he was hard to read. At this point there’s no denying your crush on the man. You didn’t know how much longer you’d be in Conyers, maybe you should rack up the courage to make a move.
The tiniest bit of flashing blue light caught your attention from down the road.
The lights looked like they were heading towards you.
Oh
They were.
They were police lights.
But they weren’t big lights that sat on top like a squad car, no. They were the kind like on a detective’s car.
The car was going fast; recklessly so.
Erratic and urgent.
Before you could get a good look at it, the car zoomed past you, barely giving you time to think.
That wasn’t Loki’s car, was it?
The little bit of it you saw, it did look like it. The pitch black of the Pennsylvania back country made it particularly difficult to see.
You pulled out your phone to call him again.
When it went straight to voicemail, you knew you couldn’t ignore your gut feeling any longer.
Fuck it.
You whipped the car around to follow the other car. It was so far ahead you couldn’t catch up, the faint blue lights your only guide.
Your pulse pounded in your ears as you followed who you were now sure was Loki.
Where are you going in such a hurry, Loki? And why? Why won’t you call me back?
You went ahead and called O’Malley and had him send a unit out to the Jones’ residence. But that was really all you could do, besides hope and pray everything was alright.
-
Loki barged into the ER with a limp Anna Dover in his arms.
His desperate cries for help rang throughout the hospital, demanding the attention of the doctors and pulling the heartstrings of all who were near.
Once she was safely in the hands of the doctors and his adrenaline wore off, he felt white hot heat radiating from his head.
His was vision blurry from the blood in his eyes, or maybe it was from the pain.
The pain.
The fucking pain.
It was a burning, stinging pain that hit him like a ton of bricks.
There was a sharp ringing that invaded his eardrums and he suddenly felt lightheaded, but he needed to stay awake..he needed to move his car from the ER entrance and needed to tell the captain what happened and needed to make sure Anna was okay, and needed (y/n) to..(y/n).. (y/n).
The last thing he remembered was mumbling something to the nurse before his vision faded to black.
-
You shifted in your seat and the old chair creaked under your weight. The nurse had offered to bring in a extra bed for you, but you declined, not wanting to take away form someone who really needed it.
But your ass going numb convinced you that you should’ve at least asked for a better chair.
Loki had been moved out of the ER and into a room for observation.
He laid there all bandaged up, sleeping..well he was unconscious, but saying he was sleeping made you feel better.
Loki wasn’t one of those people who looked peaceful when he slept, his permanent scowl still ingrained on his face.
That beautiful, pouty scowl.
Staring at Loki, you felt a tinge of guilt in your bones. You should’ve figured out it was Holly Jones all along, maybe you could’ve been there with Loki and things would’ve turned out differently.
The forensics team was able to speculate what happened based on the crime scene and, upon further digging, found evidence of dozens of child abductions.
Loki could’ve died. If the bullet went just a few inches over, it would’ve been a whole different story.
You quickly shook the thought form your head, he was here and he was okay. Joy and Anna were alive. Although it was almost a happy ending, it definitely wasn’t the ending to this case you expected.
-
You pulled the car to a screeching halt outside the ER entrance, Loki’s car still sitting outside. Lights on and doors open.
Shit shit shit
You barged in the doors, making a beeline for the front desk, but the commotion of doctors working on a dark haired man caught your eye.
Your stomach dropped.
Loki
He wasn’t conscious.
There was so much blood all over his face.
You closed the distance between you and them in two seconds flat.
“Is he okay?! Whats going on?!” You pleaded with the doctor to let you know something.
“A gunshot wound to the head, just passed out on us.”
A gunshot wound. To the head.
“Is he going to be okay?!” You asked, panicked.
“It only grazed him. We will keep you updated. Now, Ma’am step back please, let us work.”
You stepped back from the medical staff surrounding the detective, giving them their space.
“Please be ok Loki, please” you whispered.
You felt like the air had been knocked out of you. He can’t die, not like this.
You stood there in a daze, watching the doctor and nurses buzz around Loki. You lifted a trembling hand to brush the hair from your face and noticed how clammy your hands were. Suddenly, you were aware of a tightness in your chest and tears pricking the corners of your eyes.
A panic attack.
You tried to force your feet to carry you outside, the cold air would be good to dissolve your panic, but they felt like they were glued to the floor.
When your patients were in crisis you reminded them to do things that were in their control.
Maybe you should take your own advice.
Forcing your brain back into work mode, You turned to go move the cars from the ER entrance and take care of things, but you stopped dead in your tracks noticing the little girl two beds down from Loki.
Anna.
.
“Are you sure about the bed?” The nurse asked as she came in to check on the detective.
“Yeah I’m sure, thank you though.”
“If you change your mind let me know.”
“Thanks.” You replied, thankful for her kindness and her gentleness with David.
She’s nice.
“So how long have you all been together?” She asked, her innocent effort to make small talk turning awkward quickly.
“Oh we’re not…uh..” you stuttered, feeling your cheeks flush
“Oh I’m sorry, I just thought since he asked for you..that..well you know...” She said, giving you a small smile.
“He asked for me?”
“Yeah. Last thing he said before he passed out.”
You couldn’t help the grin that plastered itself onto your face and those pesky butterflies that formed in your gut.
-
2:14 AM.
David stirred from his slumber, a groan escaping his lips. He cracked an eye open, the harsh hospital lights making him cringe.
Hey! He was alive!
He still had ten working fingers and toes. Arms and legs still worked. He was alive and intact, thankful he was in one piece. It was a real miracle he avoided a car crash on the way here.
His fingers brushed over bandages on his injury. In the back of his mind, David knew he’d end up with a massive headache, but every beat of his heart sending pain to his wound was a little much for him. He looked around for the call nurse button. His heart skipped a beat when he looked to his left.
“(Y/n)” he whispered. There she was asleep in the hospital chair. That familiar fuzzy feeling flooded his chest at full force. What was she doing here? How did she know he was here?
He chuckled slightly at the sight of her. How she was able to sleep in such a cramped position, he didn’t know, and how she was able to look so adorable doing so was also a mystery.
(Y/n) was only a moment’s distraction before the throbbing pain returned to his head, he smashed the call nurse button, the commotion awaking (y/n).
Startled, she shot straight up out of the chair. In the few seconds it took her to recognize that it was indeed Loki who pushed the call button and not that he was dying or some other medical emergency, her eyes grew wide and her smile widened.
“You’re awake!” You exclaimed.
“(Y/n), it was Holly!” Loki said, trying to sit up, a groan escaping his lips as he did so. “Where’s Anna? Did she make it? You gotta get the CSU out to the Jones’ right now- she shot me-“
“Loki everything’s okay!” You assured him as you scurried to his bedside, gently grabbing his shoulders and making him lay back down.
Classic Loki, mind always on the case even when he’s laying in the hospital.
“Anna made it, she’s gonna recover. I already took care of everything.” You said, sitting on the edge of the bed.
“You did? How did you-“
“You need to rest.” You interrupted him, smoothing out his blanket, your fingers brushed his- only for a moment.
In that moment, your eyes locked and only then did David truly take a deep breath to calm down.
“How did you know?” He asked.
“I didn’t” you explained. “I was searching for Dover and was worried he’d gone to Holly to do what he did to Alex. I passed you on the way and followed your car back here. The scene has been processed and everything. We can get your statement in the morning, Loki.”
David breathed out a heavy sigh of relief
“Thanks, (l/n) You’re the best.”
“Thanks.” You said softly, unable to hide your blushing at Loki’s compliment.
“Just tell me what happened.”
Before the two of you could exchange any more words, the nurse came scurrying in to the room.
She upped his morphine dosage and cleaned his bandage, then made sure the two of you comfortable. Once again you praised the heavens for her kindness.
Once she left, David went into detail about what happened.
You listened intently, hanging on to his every word.
When he finished, you dropped the eye contact you and David were holding.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve figured out that it was Holly Jones sooner, maybe you wouldn’t gotten hurt and-“
“Hey-hey. it’s not your fault.” he said gently, reaching out to take your hand.
Maybe it was the morphine or the near death experience, but either way David was feeling bold.
Your heart could’ve stopped in that moment, was now a good time to confess your feelings? Should you?
You opted to offer him a small smile instead, you figured he’d been through enough tonight.
“I’m just glad you’re okay.” You told him.
David caressed the back of your knuckles with his thumb sending pleasant chills through you.
“Me too.” He replied.
“So do you need anything? Anything I can do?” You offered.
“I keep a emergency bag in my desk-“
“Got it!” You enthusiastically hopped up, ready to help in any way you could, but David didn’t let go of your hand.
“Wait! Don’t leave. Please.” You stopped in your tracks, glad he wanted you to stay.
“Let O’Malley bring my bag. Please stay.” David begged, those sad blue eyes got you, but he didn’t have to beg. You’d do anything he asked of you.
You sat back down on the edge of the bed.
“Thank you.” He said, his eyes growing heavy.
“Get some rest ok? I’ll be right here.” You said, smoothing his blanket out once again. When you got up to sit back in the chair, you could feel David’s eyes on you.
“What?” You inquired.
“Nothin’.” He murmured, only flashing you a small smile.
You flicked the overhead light off so you could both rest.
You’d definitely tell him how you felt in the morning.
-
David’s eyes lingered on (y/n) as she got up to turn off the light. He should’ve told her how he felt right then.
“What?” She questioned, catching him staring.
David hesitated.
Just tell her, David. Come on.
“Nothin’.” He responded with a tired voice and heavy eyes. He dropped the conversation, opting to let her rest. They’d been through enough tonight. They’d talk in the morning.
-
You made a trip to the cafeteria for breakfast while David showered and changed clothes.
“Hey, hey, look at you, all clean and such.” You praised Loki, coming into the room with coffee and bagels.
David chuckled at your remarks.
“Thanks. Hey, look at this-“
You sat on the bed next to David, leaning in to see the paper.
Barry Milland AKA Alex Jones reunited with family after 26 years
“Poor Barry.” You mumbled.
Lokis eyes stayed glued to the paper, but yours wandered up to his wound.
He looked a lot better this morning and was doing much better.
“It’s rude to stare you know.” Loki teased, cracking a sly smile.
“Yeah, well, you look like shit.” You teased back, a cheesy grin plastered itself across your face.
You tried to hold in your amusement as Loki gave you a funny look, but couldn’t help it as giggles escaped your lips.
Then, Loki started laughing too.
It was a good laugh. A real one.
After laughing too long at your own joke, you looked over at David, only to find him already looking at you.
Loki’s expression was soft, his usual scowl nowhere to be found.
“What?” You questioned.
Loki, seemingly mesmerized by you, was at a loss for words. His brain? Total mush.
You noticed his eyes moving between your eyes and lips, searching for a sign.
You leaned in, closing the gap between you and the detective- Loki’s sign that yes you wanted this. You wanted this since the moment you laid eyes on him. Finally.
Your lips connected oh so gently but in a way that sent sparks down your spine. The kiss was soft and-
“Detective Loki? Agent (l/n)?”
The two of you pulled apart quickly
There was Grace, Anna, Joy and Nancy all standing at the door.
Loki cleared his throat and you both tired to act like she didn’t interrupt.
“I hope we’re not intruding.”
Loki shook his head and mumbled “no” even though they obviously were. But you knew it’s be good for him to see the girls.
It particularly warmed your heart hearing her refer to Loki as a hero.
They continued talked for a minute, well, Grace Keller did, Loki was a man of few words. You had the thought to weigh in, but you couldn’t concentrate, those damn butterflies in your stomach were doing somersaults.
“Thank you two, for everything.”
Grace said and turned to leave, but stopped at the door, breaking down in tears. She tried convincing you and Loki Keller was a good man, but you and Loki exchanged knowing looks.
Not prepared to face the awkwardness of the situation, you couldn’t bring yourself to look at the detective after she left.
Lucky for you, Loki suddenly grabbed your chin, tilting your head towards him and his lips captured yours in a hungry and needy kiss.
A stark contrast to your kiss a minute prior, fire burned through your chest as your lips moved in sync with David’s.
Loki moved his hand to cup your cheek and you absolutely melted into his touch.
You broke apart from David, breathless and with a smile on your face.
“Sorry I didn’t do that sooner.” David said, his thumb stroking your cheekbone,
“Yeah me too.” You replied, still high from the bliss of your first kiss with the handsome detective.
“Look, (l/n), I uh-“
“Hey..Call me (f/n)” you interrupted, sad that David removed his hand from your cheek.
“Okay, (f/n),” he said. “I’m uh not too good with feelings and shit, but I uh, I really like you.”
“I like you too.” You gushed.
Davids eyes lit up, almost like a kid on Christmas.
“You do?” He questioned.
“Yes David, I do.” You gave him a reassuring smile. “And that kiss told me all I needed to know.”
David blushed.
David Loki blushing, you didn’t think such a thing could happen.
“Glad you enjoyed it.” He said, a smug smile replacing his blushing cheeks.
Your turn to blush.
“How do you uh, feel about long distance? I mean I’ve never done it before- but I’d be down to..you know.
“Me neither, but I think we make a pretty good team, so I think we can make it work.”
Yes!! He wanted to make this work. Now the butterflies in your belly weren’t just doing somersaults, it was more like the butterfly Olympics down there.
“Yeah?” He questioned, giddy like a child.
“Yeah.” You assured him, giving his arm a squeeze.
The day shift nurse came in to finally discharge David. She sent him home with a dozen care info papers and aftercare instructions, none of which David was likely to read or follow through with.
“Let’s get you home.” You said. “At least for a bit.” You knew Loki would not stop searching for Keller Dover. He was determined, you’d give him that. You also weren’t gonna let Loki drive home by himself after being shot in the head, even though he insisted he was fine.
“Yeah. Home.” He agreed.
David’s thoughts began to race while you began to gather your things.
Loki was hopeful, for the first time in a long time. He had a feeling that, eventually, home would be wherever (y/n) was.

Bathtime | Alex Jones x GN!Reader
Alex Jones x GN!Reader
Word Count | 2,836
Summary | After a few years of therapy and working through some of his trauma with his best friend, Alex finally feels ready to take on a bubble bath.
Author’s Note | This idea came to me when I rewatched Prisoners a few days ago. The way that there are literally almost nO images of Alex like smiling or anything in this movie breaks my heart. Anyways! This is just pure fluff and shut up no I didn’t cry while writing it wow what are you talking about???
Warnings | mentions of ptsd, light mentions of violence, can’t think of anything else, please let me know if I need to add anything!

Walking through the grocery store, you’d picked up everything you’d written on your list and dropped it in the cart. Alex was by your side, hand gripped tightly on the side of the cart as if it could get away from him. The small trips out of the house were still a bit rough on him. He felt eyes on him almost all the time now. Asking questions that he couldn’t answer over and over. He was hyper aware of every cart passing by him, the relentless rattling making him flinch. He walked stiffly along, putting much effort into keeping the growing tension contained in his head.
You touched his hand softly, “You okay?” You had learned to be more perceptive of his body language. It wouldn’t be the first time that he’d become so overwhelmed that you needed to go home. Alex, the feeling returning to his body, nodded and licked his lips. He focused on breathing the way his therapist had taught him. Whenever his surroundings became too much, he had to keep himself grounded with something until the ringing faded away.
You smiled warmly before continuing to push the cart down the soap aisle. You took a moment to look over the dozens of bottles lining the shelves, deciding you wanted to try a new scent.
Alex was fixated on the brightly colored bottles near the bottom of the shelves. He went down on his knee so he could read one up close. The bottle he decided on was hot pink with a funny looking cartoon mascot on the front. The label said it smelled like bubblegum. He wiggled the bottle, listened to the liquid inside slosh around. He’d never been allowed to have bubble bath before. For a second, he thought back to when he was little; walking through a store with Holly. She’d swatted his trembling hand when he’d showed a similar bottle to her and instead grabbed bars of some generic store brand soap. It was cheaper that way. One of the many things she had never let him do while he was in her care. He couldn’t remember if his real mother had even let him before all of that. He looked up at you, holding the bottle out timidly.
You took it from his hands and quickly skimmed the label before looking down to him again, “You sure you want this?”
He nodded once decisively.
“Okay,” you set the bottle down in the cart before moving on. At the end of the aisle was a basket of assorted bath toys in plastic bags. You glanced at Alex, noticing that he’d lingered ahead of the cart a few steps and wasn’t paying much attention to you. You quickly grabbed one of the bags and hid it under some bags of vegetables you’d grabbed earlier on in your journey. That would be a fun surprise for him.
Of course you let Alex get almost anything he wanted when you were out, as long as it fit in your budget. You’d known Alex ever since Holly and her husband had “adopted” him. But you’d never realized how much they’d deprived him growing up. While you were living through a fairly normal childhood, Alex was stuck in a home that wasn’t his. After Holly died and Alex had gone to live with you, you discovered that there were so many things that were completely new to him. This must be another one of those things.
One detail made you nervous about his idea: the water. Following the harrowing week of torture with Keller Dover nearly two years prior, many things triggered Alex. He would sometimes freeze in terror, shaking until the memory passed. Sometimes he would end up screaming and wouldn’t let you go near him because he was terrified of your touch hitting him as hard as Dover’s fists once had. He couldn’t deal with small spaces, the dark, tools, and many other little things for too long.
One of his biggest triggers was the water. He couldn’t shower because it only reminded him of the scorching drops that had once burned his skin. The ice cold showers weren't much better. Those did nothing to soothe the fresh burns and only soaked through his clothes, leaving his teeth chattering. The awful sensations would come out of nowhere and overwhelm all of his senses at once. The experiences made it impossible for him to even think about stepping into a shower again. Instead, he cleaned with wet wash clothes and dried off immediately afterwards.
The thought of him having another PTSD attack made you apprehensive. But you couldn’t hold him back. If his heart was set on this, you had to let him ride it through. So much of his life had been controlled by people who wanted to take advantage of him and you were determined to let him be as much of himself as possible. So you tried to ignore your anxiety and walked on.
The whole drive home, Alex maintained a little smile, looking out the window at the scenery as it passed. You liked seeing him this way. He was fidgeting with a little toy car you’d bought him months ago, rolling his thumb along the wheels on the underside. The sun streaming through the window, shedding his contented form with golden light. He had to squint through its glare as it reflected off his wire framed glasses.
You liked living with Alex. He’d always been your best friend. And quiet times like these were always the most enjoyable. They reminded you of the summer days when he’d still had that beat up RV. For hours on any given afternoon you would both be sitting in that camper, talking and listening to music. After what happened with Dover…you weren't sure if you’d ever get those little moments back. He’d receded so much into his shell. But these kinds of days were close enough that you were perfectly happy with them. As long as he felt safe, everything was okay.
When you both got home, Alex helped carry in grocery bags. He liked grabbing as many as he could possibly hold and rushing to set them inside on the kitchen counter. He did it mostly for the proud smile you’d give him and the soft “thank you” that followed it. You had never felt it or said as much to him, but deep down inside he was worried you would perceive him as a burden. So he enjoyed the reassurance you gave him and tried his best to be helpful where he could.
You began to put away the groceries, opening the fridge and stashing away snacks in cupboards. As soon as you got to the carton of eggs, Alex had gotten to his treasured bottle of bubble bath. He set it down on the counter with some importance, making a whole show of it to you with his lips pursed in excitement. His eyes brimmed with excitement behind his thick lenses.
You turned around to see the display. “Hmm?” You gave him a pointed look.
“I want to use it.” He spoke intently, fingers wrapping around the sides of the bottle.
You had been hoping that he’d wait for it just until you could mentally prepare yourself a little more to handle whatever was going to happen. But, again, you weren’t one to tell him no. Especially to something that seemed so big for him.
You giggled and replied, “Alright, get your swim trunks on and grab some towels from the closet.”
Alex walked swiftly back to his room to find the trunks he’d picked out for himself. You’d said they were for beach trips since he’d always dreamt of going to one. But, being in the middle of Pennsylvania, you hadn’t gotten the chance to take him yet. So, of course the trunks were probably hiding in some corner of his closet.
Entering the single bathroom in your home, you pulled back the shower curtain. You twisted the faucet and felt the water as it started out cold and slowly warmed up. The action was so normal, but to you it felt like you were at a fork in the road. You’d seen Alex’s mood turn very quickly and today could very well turn into one of those days that ended in chaos. You’d work it out, you always did. You had to be encouraging but know when to reel him in if he wasn’t okay with the situation anymore. Nonetheless, the nerves that had inspired within you weren’t fun to deal with.
Alex appeared behind you in the doorway, clutching a few towels against his chest, staring at the water running into the tub. The sight made a little pit of dread form in his stomach. But he had to do it. He couldn’t turn back now.
You motioned for him to come closer and he went to stand beside you. You smiled slightly at his bright yellow swim trunks decorated with white and red stripes up the sides. God, you hoped this would go well.
“I need you to see if the water feels okay. Just let me know if it’s too hot or too cold. Can you do that?” You asked.
“I can do it.” He said, trying to pluck up the courage to place his hand under the running water and scrunching his nose to move his glasses up on his face. When he finally did it, he mumbled a small “too hot” or “too cold” and you’d adjust accordingly until he said it was okay. His stomach churned a little but he pushed through, breathing steadily.
You dumped in the bubble bath until Alex said it was enough. You swirled the water with your hand, the bubbles already beginning to take form. As the water ran longer it churned everything until the surface was only round bubbles, pink from the fluorescent bathroom light reflecting off them. Alex was enthralled with the image, especially the little bubbles that rose for a few seconds only to pop midair.
As pretty as it was the bubbles were, getting in proved to be the hardest part. You put your hand on Alex’s upper arm as he stood in the middle of the tub. “You can get out whenever you want. Please tell me if it’s too much, okay?” He gave a hesitant nod. When he’d grabbed the bubble bath in the store, he hadn’t pictured what it would be like to actually use it.
The tub was big enough that Alex didn’t feel caged in but he tried to avert his gaze from the shower head attached to the wall. He shook a little as he slowly sank into the water, the level rising as more of him broke the surface. He waited for a pain that never came. You held your breath, wanting so badly for him to feel okay with the bath, knowing how much it would break his heart if he couldn’t do it.
The temperature was perfectly lukewarm. Alex let the pleasant smell of the artificial bubblegum scent fill his nostrils. He could get used to this. His guard wasn’t down all the way yet when your eyes lit up, “Wait, I forgot something! Stay there for a second.” He was a little startled but you dashed out of the bathroom and weren’t gone long before you returned and sat by the lip of the tub, hiding something behind your back. When you pulled it out, a curious grin formed on his lips upon seeing the collection of rubber bath toys all encased in plastic. He tore at the bag and dumped the toys in the bath around him. Among the offerings were a group of multicolored ducks and some cartoonish boats.
Alex fished the different ducks from the water and placed them on the side of the tub, studying each one. “Help me name them.” He requested quietly.
You threw out dozens of names for each one. He wrinkled his nose at some of your ideas before shaking his head side to side. Some earned you a soft chuckle. In the end he’d finally decided that the purple one would be called Queenie, the orange one was Steven, the green one was Leaf, the yellow one was Lemondrop, the red one Tulip, and finally, the blue one was dubbed Loki, after Alex’s favorite detective on the police force. You smiled extra wide at that one, the rubber duck’s bright blue surface reminding you of the detective’s eyes. Next time he came over for dinner you’d have to tell him about this one.
“Want me to wash your hair?” You asked gently. He shook his head up and down in response. He hadn’t properly washed it in a long while.
You grabbed a small bowl from the cupboard underneath the sink and got to work. You squeezed a little dollop of shampoo into your palm and lathered it up with some water on the other before combing your fingers through his hair. Your nails scratched at his scalp satisfyingly as you worked to scrub away any of the dirt and oil that clung to the roots of his coppery brown hair. The comforting feeling made his eyelids begin to droop.
“Can you take your glasses off for me? Gotta rinse now.” Alex slid the glasses down the bridge of his nose before handing them to you. Folding them gently, you placed them on the counter behind you. You dipped the bowl into the water and raised it over his head, tipping it slowly and placing a hand over his forehead so none of the water ran into his eyes. You repeated the action a few times over to rinse out the soapy shampoo.
As the water streamed down his back, Alex kept still. The water was just starting to cool down. It wasn’t cold enough to remind him of the shower, but it took almost all of his willpower to push through the discomfort that spilled into his thoughts. The sound of it trickling down and combining with the rest of his bath was therapeutic in a way. He finally closed his eyes and tried to focus on how the water ran down his back gently, nothing like the intense shower that felt like bullets. And though his eyes were closed, he could feel your compassionate presence in how you carefully cleaned his hair. As long as you were there, he could muster up the bravery to get through.
“Let me see your hands,” you said once you were finished rinsing his hair. Alex raised his hands from the tub, his fingers were all pruned up.
“Okay, I think it’s time to get out,” you giggled a little. You leaned forward and pushed down the latch on top of the spout to empty the tub. Awkwardly, Alex regained his footing and you held his wrinkled hand as he stepped over the lip of the tub, making sure he wouldn’t slip until both of his feet were planted firmly on the soft bath mat. You grabbed the towel he’d placed on the counter and smiled when you noticed he’d already picked out clothes to change into: a soft pair of grey sweatpants and a navy blue turtleneck he liked wearing to sleep.
Wrapping the towel around his shoulders you whispered to him, “I am so proud of you, Alex.” He smiled eagerly back. He was proud of himself too.
You knew he could dry himself off and get dressed on his own so you simply said, “I’ll wait for you in the living room. We can turn on some Disney movies and I’ll order pizza for dinner.” Boy, did that sound perfect to Alex.
When he returned to the living room, fully dressed head to toe in his comfiest clothes, the sun was beginning to set. You sat on the couch with a throw pillow in your lap. He shuffled over and carefully laid across the length of it, settling his head on the pillow over your legs. His hair was still damp and the moisture was soaking into the pillow but you figured you’d let it slide tonight.
TV remote in hand, you flipped through the different movie options until he pointed at the one he wanted to watch: The Fox and the Hound. One of his favorites. The two main characters reminded him of you and himself; completely different people who wouldn't let that stop them from being the absolute best of friends. You were sure he’d be singing the little songs from it for the next few days and the thought left you glowing.
As the introductory credits played, he felt your hand rub slow circles on his back. “Thank you,” he whispered hoarsely.
“You’re welcome.” You replied. Alex wanted to fall asleep, yawning and heavy-eyed from the long day and new experience but he fought to keep them open. He couldn’t miss pizza and the movie, of course.

reasons I think Prisoners characters would get cancelled.
Keller Dover - saying some kind of slur
Franklin Birch - saying k-pop sucks
Detective Loki - cyber bullying children
Alex Jones - nothing, he has no internet access
Holly Jones - also saying slurs
Bob Taylor - just being creepy, but people would defend him and it would become a big war.
Keller's wife (can't remember her name dnsjfb) - defending Keller
Nancy Birch - nothing, she's to kind
Isaac Jones (I think that's his name idk tho) - probably kicking children or something

Hii.Do you have an idea why Alex never said anything when Keller dover kidnapped and abused him.Like he actually knew where the girls were but never said anything even he was being badly abused
I think Alex was not exactly sure what Keller was talking about at times. Because he does have a lower IQ and mental problems. He was just kidnapped and put in a form of prison for the second time in his life. He would be experiencing a lot of adrenaline and fear. When a person is experiencing those emotions it can be difficult to use reasoning and logic. Add in the fact that he has an intellectual disability and cognitive issues. It will take more time to understand which he wasn't given.
Which is why I think he started saying some stuff later on. He was finally realizing the full scope of the situation and what Keller was wanting.
Also, Alex was shown to not talk a lot. Using short sentences or just making noise as a response. Speaking was not something he was good at to begin with.
His Stockholm syndrome also would have prevented him from speaking. There was a loyalty to his "aunt" even if Alex wasn't aware of it. He could have driven away at any point, told Loki during the investigation, told Keller but he didn't. Even though he knew something was wrong in regards to him and the girls. A lot of time an abused person will hide what their abuser has done because they don't want them to get in trouble.
There is a common theme that Holly's victims can't communicate what happened. Bob Taylor drew the maze and was recreating what happened but had issues speaking. When the girls were rescued. when Joy is in the hospital they ask her how she escaped and all these questions. They show in clips all of the events that led up to her escaping but she can only get out a few phrases. When Anna has rescued her mom has her visit Loki. This is the man who saved her and she is not even capable of speaking to him.
Trauma and whatever Holly did to them that was not explained could have made it to where the victims could not communicate.
Alex didn't respond even when being abused. He is probably used to being abused. He may have thought it was just another person hurting him because and not for a specific reason even though it was. Or Alex felt he deserved the abuse from Keller because he did know where the girls were and was lying about it and not telling him. Or Alex thought Keller was lying about letting him go if he told him where the girls were. But if he told Keller then Holly would get in trouble and get mad at him. Then in his mind, Keller and Holly would be mad and both abuse him. So why not just experience one.
It is very difficult and I cant fully understand why he refused to just tell Keller. These are my thoughts. Overall I think it was a combination of various things.
Sorry its so long lol

Prisoners (2013)
Tumblr media
Cruelty is a labyrinth.  A horrible situation appearing out of nowhere is difficult to handle, but people believe there may be a simple solution.  Inform the authorities, answer their questions, hope for the best.  Yet as more variables enter into play, the web becomes more and more entangled.  Soon enough people who consider themselves to be good and righteous are committing horrible atrocities because they believe it will get them the end result they desire.  Keller Dover seizes onto his personal prime suspect after his and his neighbors’ daughters go missing, brutalizing this man remorselessly because he has to believe that it will result in the return of his daughter.  Enough seeds are planted about him to potentially imbalance him as a morally correct individual.  He’s a recovering alcoholic, he has Christo-fascist tendencies and insists on prepping for a doomsday that will invariably result in him gunning down his fellow man.  But he’s not a monster.  He struggles on his path, sobbing occasionally, begging Alex not to force him to continue.  He would do anything to rescue his daughter wrongfully taken, but that justifiable impulse bears poisonous fruit.  The core of this cruelty is how he brings in his neighbors.  Franklin and Nancy Birch become complicit in his torture as he enfolds them in his single-minded vigilante quest for answers that his prisoner simply doesn’t have.

-The next morning-
It was raining and raining, hard. The sun refused to come out from behind the clouds. You watched the raindrops roll down the window in the break room. Leaning your head against the cold glass, you checked your phone. Again. No notifications.
You’d been waiting on Loki to call you with any info, but you’d just be happy to hear from him. He was out tailing Keller Dover. You were back at the station trying to find a lead on your prime suspect.
You grabbed your snack from the vending machine and walked back towards your desk.
You felt your phone vibrating in your pocket.
Well speak of the devil.
“Yeah?” Your opening remark getting strait to the point, leaving no time for pleasantries. Loki must have been rubbing off on you.
“Hey, Dover caught me following him so I’m heading back. He’s definitely hiding something.”
“Damn.” You replied, biting your nail. It was an anxious habit you’d yet to quit.
“Yeah. So get this…Mrs. Dover thinks Keller has been helping us this whole time. She has no idea where he’s really been.”
“Oh hell.” Your words oozing with irritation. Just what you guys needed was to chase after Keller Dover.
“And she called me last night thinking Anna had come home all cause a damn window was open in the house. She isn’t gonna be any help. She’s been taking sleeping pills this whole time.” Loki let out a sigh.
“Oh great.” Sarcasm rolling off your tongue with ease.
“Found a bag of Lye in their basement- which, by the way, is like a dooms day pepper’s dream- half used.”
“Well that may be a bad sign for us finding Alex Jones..if Dover did do something to him. Under high heat and pressure, lye can turn corrosive enough to disintegrate a body.”
“Yeah.” Loki sighed. “I know.”
“Shit.” You anxiously a hand through your hair.
“Well, I don’t think Dover killed him. He’s sure that Alex knows where the girls are, won’t kill his only lead.”
“Yeah.” Loki said. “Maybe”
Silence lingered only for a moment, and in that moment you saw your opportunity.
“Hey..uh…you wanna go and grab lunch?” You asked, nervously fidgeting with the lid on your coffee cup. You felt like a teenager asking out their crush, except you weren’t a teenager and you were working and hungry.
“Um..” His heart was screaming yes, but his brain was screaming no. He had to solve this case, needed to before time ran out, before it consumed him.
“Uh..not now. Really need to find out what Dover’s been doing and find our guy from yesterday. There’s a good place you can order from-“
“Yeah, no of course, the case.” You interrupted. “See you back at the station then.” You said and abruptly hung up the phone. That did make you a little upset, which was stupid, but you were really looking forward to getting lunch with him. Just him. Not sharing a table with three others in the break room, eating while working, or eating by yourself at your desk. You wanted lunch with Loki. Hell, forget lunch, you’d settle for just the detective.
You hoped Loki’s refusal wasn’t personal. You had overheard that Loki solved every case he’d ever been assigned, you guessed he didn’t get that track record by going out for lunch with co workers.
.
Loki walked into the bullpen, his jaw clenched and shoulders stiff. He was desperately hoping y/n was able to get a lead. Didn’t help that he’d just been in a yelling match Keller Dover..again.
His body became less tense at the sight of y/n, who was currently talking on the phone.
David sat at his desk and began to search for more background on Keller Dover. He couldn’t help but glance over at y/n.
God, she was so pretty.
Almost like she felt him staring, she turned and locked eyes with the detective for a moment. Lokis heart definitely skipped a beat but he wouldn’t admit that. She flashed a polite smile, then went back to writing down a few notes.
“Okay, thank you. Bye.” She hung up.
David expected y/n to immediately swivel her chair towards him and tell him if she’s got a lead.
He wanted to see her eyes light up cause she found something and he wanted to hear the sweet sound of her voice.
She didn’t.
She didn’t even say hi, just kept working.
Unusual for her.
David thought to himself for a minute.
What could be wrong? Other than present circumstances, of course.
‘See you back at the station then.’ Her words echoed in his mind.
She’s upset about lunch? Damn it. Should’ve said yes. Maybe I should apologize? But it’s only lunch, isn’t it? Am I overthinking it? Is y/n overthinking it?
Just talk to her.
Right. Talking.
He tapped his fingers nervously on the desk, glancing at y/n once more.
Play it cool David, play it cool.
Just ask her if she’s got any leads.
“Got anything?” He finally asked.
She let out a sigh.
“Almost.”
Loki raised his brow, encouraging her to elaborate.
“I got results back from sending the sketches of our suspect to my people back home. I had them run the sketches with FBI facial recognition software- Comparing them with Pennsylvania drivers Licenses. It came back with only 5 results. I’ve confirmed 2 of 5 alibis. Working on the rest.”
“That’s..fuck, that’s great.” He said, growing excited at such a good lead.
Loki hesitated before his next sentence.
“So..what happened to ‘staying on the same page’ ?”
Y/n’s demeanor changed before Loki even finished his sentence. She drew into herself, crossing her arms as she spoke, “I’m sorry, Loki. I just get really zoned into my work sometimes. And like you, I’m not used to having a partner, you know?”
Y/n rolled her chair back to her desk.
“Yeah. I know.” Loki replied.
In the field, he was trained so he could handle almost any situation, but his relationships were a different story. Loki had always been a loner, never really getting close with anyone.
Loki and Y/n worked at their desks for a while, both afraid to create tension with the other.
.
“Huh.” Loki remarked, leaning back in his chair.
Y/n leaned back in her own chair, peering out from behind the narrow cubicle wall that divided their desks.
Loki noticed her staring and motioned for you to come look at his computer.
David hoped y/n would view the gesture as an olive branch, albeit unnecessary, as the perceived tension between him and y/n was purely based on raised emotions and the two of them running on empty. David had come to learn over the last six days, emotions were tricky things to navigate, especially when y/n was around.
She rolled over to him in her chair, leaning in close. Loki caught a whiff of her perfume, he was immediately intoxicated by the scent. It suited her.
Y/n’s brows knitted in confusion
“William Dover Obituary?”
“Look.” Loki pointed to his computer screen. “Dover’s father killed himself when Keller was a teen. Left Keller the house. I bet that’s where he’s going during the day and possibly keeping Alex Jones. I’m gonna go check it out.”
He stood, putting on his coat.
“I’ll keep on these leads, let you know when I have something.” Y/n replied, flashing him another polite smile.
Loki returned it with the same gesture.
On the drive to Dover’s dad’s old apartment building, Loki grew increasingly suspicious of the man, especially when he pulled up to the property. It was super dilapidated and he was sure the inside looked worse.
After entering through the window, Loki’s suspicions were confirmed. It was a perfect place to hide a body among other crimes.
He entered what he assumed was a living area only to find Mr. Dover laying on the floor. Loki hoping he hadn’t drank himself to death since their earlier conversation.
“Hey, rise and shine.” Loki said, kicking him.
Not dead, just drunk.
.
Loki’s tour of the building was cut short by his phone ringing.
“Shit.”
Caller ID: (f/n) (l/n)
If anyone was going to interrupt him, he was glad it was y/n.
“Hello?”
“Loki! I’ve got our guy!” Yn was practically yelling. “The Clerk from the mall called, got his license plate and he’s the last guy on my list. Bob Taylor. 437 Carrol Street. Meet you there.”
“Yeah? Ok. Meet you there.” He replied and slipped his phone back in his pocket.
“Go home Mr. Dover” he ushered and hurried out the door.

I watched 'Prisoners' again, but now I'm with my sibling. So I will try to explain the story if you want. Click More ^^
The Jones Family were once a devout believer of God but when their son died of cancer, as Holly said, they started to see things differently.
They hated God and wage war against Him by abducting, drugging, and killing children. Two of their identified victims (out of 16) were Bobby Taylor and Barry aka. Alex Jones.
Holly's husband allegedly had an affair that resulted in the birth of his nephew, Alex which we all know is not true.
Five years ago, Holly's husband confess his sin to the father. This father sees himself as justice, so he decide to punish the husband himself. The husband died at the Father's basement.
This does not stop Holly from continuing their 'war'. While Alex played with Anna and Joy, Holly decided to let them stay.
When Anna and Joy went missing. Alex became the prime suspect. However, he later got released for insufficient evidence, so Keller decided to take the matter on his own.
Keller kidnapped Alex. This made Holly very lonely, so instead of killing the girls, she let them live a little longer.
In a sense that we can see that Keller indirectly played part in keeping the girls alive.
In the case of Bobby Taylor, he reenact his abduction, as both kidnapper and victim as his coping mechanism/trauma response . Not only that, he even participated in the ongoing missing case, making himself looking like the real deal abductor.
He sneak to Birch's and Dover's houses to steal the girls clothes or socks. Thus, his participation had misled the police. Meanwhile, Alex's mental capacity made things a lot harder for Keller.
Keller visited Holly because he felt sorry that he is the reason for Alex 'running away'. Soon, they found Joy and she's been drugged.
When Joy sees Keller at the hospital, she said that "you were there, they put a tape on my mouth", which means Joy remembered him being at Holly's House. It made Keller realized that he once visited Holly.
He drove to Holly's to save Anna, but met with bad luck and locked below a hidden pit covered by an old car. Loki thought Keller will go back to the old house but no, although that's where Loki found Alex.
Holly learned about it so she continue to do what she always do —to kill children. So for the last time, she tried to kill Anna. She miserably failed and died.
Note:
While I was watching it, I do had a suspicion with Holly. At first, maybe it really is Alex because even his capacity cannot be excused; but he really did not know. Like Loki said 'we cannot know because he does not understand the question' .
Then Bobby appeared, but he is too obvious. If the killer were the same person who kidnap Barry, why would it be easy to caught him now?
During interrogation of Loki on Alex about the attack of Keller to Alex in the police premise, Holly was present and I found her manipulative. I understand she want to be helpful but they way she denied things is suspicious.
There are lots of subtle or obvious reasons...as to why its Holly.
- Loki found Holly's husband with the pendant symbol.
- Father said that the man (Holly's husband) claimed he have a family.
- This symbol is then drawn by Bobby.
- Bobby have boxes of snakes.
- Holly said that her husband have snakes and Alex didn't like it.
- The movie also gives hint like Holly telling Loki that the car is on sale. The RV that Loki pushed stopped right at Holly's.
- If Alex have a an IQ of 10 years old, then Holly who are capable, can do the abduction.
Did I miss any detail?
