Do you have an OC that were just kinda meh about at first but grew to really like them? And if so whom?
i totally didn't get home last night and immediately pass out, i would never-
i actually had to think a bit on this, bc most the time i find the opposite happening or like. i like a character already but then have more ideas for them and get obsessed but. then i remembered.
that i used to suck at making villain characters.
because i think characters that are just pure evil for no reason and aren't like wacky and fun about it are boring as hell.
and that's exactly what the original concepts of Kezou (also known as K) and Natalio were.
but now! i really like them both after actually giving them motivations and making them sympathetic! (hell, Kezou isn't even a bad guy anymore. He's just like. A vigilante at worst.)
like K is one of my favorite ocs at this point jhcbvjcv and Natalio is a super fun villain to work with bc he is Suffering and his actions Keep Having Unintended Consequences and then he Dies Horribly, all because he wanted to try and take down an evil he had no conceivable chance against.
but yeah, i love these guys now, but the used to just be like. Personality-less Plot Devices. so yeah they count i think-

OUGH FINALLY DONE-
here they are, my children :]
[info beneath the cut]
ok so, imma list em in order from left to right, starting with row 1 and going from there (so first 5 is row 1, next 5 is row 2 etc.), and give some info about em :]
keep in mind these guys all come from one big original story (though i do use them in other stuff, albeit different versions of them lol) so they're kinda interconnected to a degree-
- - - - - - - - - - - - - -
- Sumi: the main character; an energetic and optimistic young girl who lives with her mother and adopted older brother by the sea. she has a knack for befriending the strangest people/things, and is a bit stupid (but in an endearing way). enjoys fishing and music. her fishing rod can apparently catch fish that grant the wish of the catcher, but she's had no luck with it yet.
- Celari: embodiment of rage; sumi's mother (who kinda has her own story that comes before this one but really isn't required to understand it). a fairly depressed older woman who cares fiercely for her two children. much more sentimental than she comes off as, and is still deeply saddened by her divorce and father's death (the latter of which happened over 40 years ago). works as the manager of a local supermarket after her old boss fired her out of no where, though the work she truly loves most is being a mother. doesn't believe in the supernatural, and believes all the ones that sumi befriends to simply be imaginary friends. her bandaged arm has a strange aura around it.
- Santiago: human turned sword tsukumogami; formerly celari's teacher, his soul was bound to his own sword after he was killed with it, and years later he kinda just.... became the sword. a laid back man with a healthy sense of humor, but is terrifying when serious. also he likes anime. like a lot. can switch between a humanoid and sword form.
- Willow: the shy princess of hell; a quiet and gentle woman who enjoys solitude. she's half oni, half fairy and has the physical traits of both (horn and wings respectively), but is quite weak despite that. often will sneak off to the human world to spend quiet time in nature. oh yeah also if it wasn't apparent already, she's from hell (don't worry about it i'll make an actual worldbuilding post another day-). has a twin brother.
- Laurence: the boy next door...?; a friendly young man who lives alone with his mom. calls almost everyone 'bro', and isn't the smartest in most things but... he tries his best. works part time at the local grocery store and helping out a fishing captain, as well as just generally helping out around the neighborhood. good friends with sumi, and will often babysit her if need be. comes from a long line of powerful necromancers.
- Koma: your friendly neighborhood karakasa obake; an umbrella tsukumogami who often hangs around the local cemetery. cheerful and friendly, despite her tendency to try and spook people (something she is quite good at), though she would never scare a child. friends with sumi, and sees her as a little sister of sorts. has an odd interest in trading cards. can switch between a humanoid and umbrella form.
- Kezou: the harbinger of hell; the ghost of a god of the afterlife. loves mortals, but despises those who he sees as blights on the world (mass murderers and such). was killed by his sister since his ideals got in the way of hers. he has a past with celari, though there's no bad blood between them (anymore). finds both sumi and celari intriguing, and as such has decided to use what little power he has left to watch over them. hates his sister.
- Jim: world's friendliest pirate; a fisherman and sailor that lives by the docks with his younger sister and cat. taught sumi how to fish and watches over her whenever she goes fishing alone. laurence's boss and mentor (and surrogate father figure). apparently wanted in another country, but the reason why is unknown. enjoys alcohol, but rarely gets drunk (he has a very high tolerance).
- Mel: 'doomsday virus' turned entrepreneur; a computer virus who is either incapable of doing any actual damage or just chooses not to. somehow is a hyper-intelligent sentient ai. he comes off as very friendly and full of bravado and confidence, but in reality is incredibly sad and lonely. he is very pathetic (and bulliable, very bulliable-). fears death and, by extension, antiviruses. ended up on sumi's computer after running from said antiviruses. owns his own website which he uses as a storfront, though it's been inactiave for almost a year and a half since he no longer has access to the post office (they got an anti-virus). inexplicably has the ability to take things in and out of the computer, though seemingly not himself. needs glasses to see.
- Cris: starlit swordsman; sumi's older brother, who celari took in after his own parents passed away. opened a small cafe, which he runs and staffs alone. sumi looks up to him a lot, and he tries to be a good example for her. practices with the sword in his spare time, mainly in remembrance of his father rather than having anything to fight. is aware of sumi's 'imaginary friends'. his right eye is light sensitive, so he usually just keeps it closed when outdoors.
- Tesu: eternal prankster; a kitsune that sumi found injured on her way home from school years ago. he's usually laid back, but gets energetic when excited and will often pull lighthearted pranks on humans. very, very good friends with sumi. capable of appearing to be a regular human as well, and will often explore town in this manner. can switch between a humanoid and fox form.
- Leistioun: incarnation of madness and power; a strange ancient being with no memory of their past. can manipulate emotions, but claims to still be regaining power as he was sealed away for some reason. too weak to exist without possessing someone (though he can maintain a physical form for some time), so sumi has a mental roommate for now. a bit odd in their speech and mannerisms, but he's friendly and curious for the most part. their true for is a shadowy creature, but he usually takes on a humanoid one because he thinks it looks cooler.
- Natsumi: the mischievous mad scientist; a tanuki working as a science teacher at sumi's school. eccentric and devoted to her work, can be overbearing at times. has burns on her face from a past experiment. she's constructed a secret laboratory beneath the school, and pretty much lives there. loves sake, and will often go to the local bar on her off hours. uses her abilities to con and prank others, or to get whatever materials she may need for her experiments.
- Dossim: hell's little tyrant; a chaotic boy from hell, where he's apparently some important figure. willow's younger twin, much to her dismay. half oni half fairy, despite not showing many physical traits of either, but has the power of both. fearless and headstrong, he acts like a child who thinks he's hot shit and invincible. and he mostly has the power to back that brazen confidence up. thinks the human world is boring, but often has to travel there to get his sister and bring her home since he gets worried about her (though he'd never say that).
- Rea: the 'imaginary friend'; a small being born from sumi's imagination, somehow. she's cynical and harsh, but still kind in her own way. she and sumi are extremely close, and she often serves as her impulse control/braincell. strong for her size, and enjoys all manner of sports and physical activity. wishes she was actual-person-sized, and dreams of being essentially a sports anime protagonist (something that she ropes leistioun into regularly).
god im sorry this is so long, if you read it all then i am eternally grateful :']

Note
im assuming kezou's scythe is his weapon, does the blade sort of straighten out when he actually uses it or is it always kinda wispy and ghostlike, but still super sharp? (LOVE kezou's vibes by the way all these guys are So Fun but i especially love him, sumi, celari, santiago, jim and cris !!!)
yeah it is his weapon, though he can't really hurt mortals with it anymore since he's dead lol. and that's just how the blade is! i kinda picked up drawing scythes that way from touhou jhvbchjv (see: komachi onozuka)
and i'm glad you like him! :D good faves list also, fucking love jim and cris could use the love he gets forgotten ALOT ckhbjb-
