"Anna... Why did you never LEAVE?!"

Meant to get back to this for a while. This is a sketch of Dark Elsa from @megaderping's Kingdom Hearts fanfic @khantipode. The fourth installment (titled "Act 3: All That's Left") has a Frozen adaptation that's far more ambitious and transformative than the beat-by-beat adaptation in Kingdom Hearts III. In a nod to the original tale, Elsa gets stabbed in the heart with a shard of enchanted glass, making her see only the ugly in the world. Also, Hans gets more screentime as a villain. I oughta sketch him too.

“I’m fairly certain Webby left on another scouting mission.”

“Do ‘scouting missions’ usually include crawling down chimneys?” the Replica asked.

“Yep!” said a voice from the fireplace, making the Replica jump. And then, skittering like a spider came that same duck girl from earlier, wearing some funky goggles, a small pink bow in her hair, and a layer of soot coating her sweater vest, shirt, and skirt.

Okay then. This was happening.

“Oh, Webbigail. You’re just in time,” said Beakley, offering her a clean cloth. “Do say hello to our guests—”

“Riku Replica and Naminé? Former pawns of the Organization turned wayward runaways?”

“I…” Geez. How did this kid know?

As if reading his mind, Webby pulled out a red, glittery notebook. “I kept notes. And… might’ve followed you from the shadows. Annnd maybe did a teensy bit of eavesdropping when Kairi was here.”

So the 2017-ification of the chapters w/ Ducktales characters has led to some additional lil’ things. Like Webby existing now. Also Beakley instead of Duckworth.

Overall plot won’t change in the Hollow Bastion Repliku arc, but so far this has been fun to write. x) And of course I will archive the old versions, too.

Still new to these characters but it is an interesting exercise all the same.

Previous Chapter | Full Chapter | Read from the Beginning | Secret Pages After many years, we’ve finally reached a significant milestone. The True Lab arc has concluded. With this, Inverted Fate will be going on a small break so I can focus on @khantipode for a bit and take a breather (and prepare the 21 cutscene slides for the final interlude). With that said, a lot of awesome people contributed to this chapter! So.

Soufon - The UI for the interactive portion @superkirbylover - Cutscene artwork (we collabed on the second cutscene, but she did the rest herself), some Undyne poses @beethovenus and @ut-sudden-changes - Helping write something funny in the interactive segment. Started getting back into art. Did some rough sketches for my friend @megaderping​‘s Kingdom Hearts fanfic @khantipode​. Specifically Riku and Kairi’s designs. Its a really well-written series with nuanced characterization and intriguing worldbuilding. Be sure to check it out!

Originally, I modded this song into Kingdom Hearts III and I realized that the lyrics fitted Terra's character arc pretty well. Decided to test me video editing skills and, well, this happened.

Oh yeah, a mate of mine @megaderping did a really insightful character analysis on Terra, which I'll link here. Dorked also writes a KH fanfic called @khantipode which in my opinion is a must-read for any Kingdom Hearts fans.

Out of the main cast, who is the hardest character to write for? Like, the one you think is the toughest to consistently portray in the way you want?

THIS IS GONNA SOUND REALLY DUMB, BUT LIKE. For a while Mettaton was hard? Because sometimes my Ringabel "voice" would slip in subconsciously from writing him in @khantipode and my wires got crossed.

In all seriousness, Dohj whenever I have to write her because Fours wrote most of her dialogue so I always feel really self-conscious about carrying the torch.

If Dohj doesn't count... hmmmmm. Maaaybe Toriel? But mostly because I haven't written her as much as the others.

Honestly, I find minor characters a lot harder because some of them just... don't have a lot going for them, which means I have to extrapolate a lot. It's kinda mind boggling how I have an easier time writing someone like Frisk than Monster Kid, who actually has canon dialogue.

PLEASE tell me you're actually gonna finish this? Au's keep getting canceled left and right and at this point, IF is probably the furthest an AU has ever gotten.

No worries. I'm very intent on finishing this story. I've just been taking a break to work on my Kingdom Hearts AU, @khantipode, since it had been dormant for about five months, and then the attack on the Inverted Fate discord consumed my last week and a lot of my mental reserves.

I don't know if it's the best place to talk about it, but I read Antipode : I hesitated because I never played Kingdom Hearts, but you said that a lot of people who read Antipode doesn't think you have to play KH to understand, so I tried. And at the beginning, it was difficult to follow and I had difficulties to enter in the story. But from Fragmented truths, I really started to appreciate it. And now, I love this story ! Xiruk and Xion are my favourite characters and Arendelle arc is great !

Aw, thanks for the kind words! :) Always happy to get positive feedback about Antipode, since it's not nearly as popular as IF, haha. Xiruk's ask was definitely one I thoroughly enjoyed writing. Good news is, I am actually working on the next chapter, and eventually I do hope to remaster parts of the first fic. Oh, and Antipode's blog is at @khantipode for the curious. I need to do more with it.

When can we expect another update? Will it be a month? 3? A year?

I don't have an exact date. I've been working on @khantipode, which was on hiatus for like five months.

I'll probably resume work on IF at some point this month, but there's a lot of required asset production and stuff, so it may not be until fall or winter that we resume. Time will tell!

End of June status update?

There are new secret pages in the works for my patrons, but at this time I am focusing on my KH fic, @khantipode. I want to at least finish another chapter or two before I resume work on IF. That being said, Philip is working on an HTML port of the Alphys fight with new features and quality of life adjustments, so look forward to that in the near future!

Antipode has been going strong for over seven years now. There is a main blog for it at @khantipode and you can find the full series on AO3 right here.Support is always appreciated, as Antipode has far less of an audience than IF, but I love working on it.
