Does anyone have any Spanish-speaking bands/artists that they would recommend? Especially indie, alternative, or punk bands, but my music taste is very broad so even if they don't fit any of those genres I'd still love to just hear about people's favorite bands and artists. I'm trying to branch out my music to include stuff in my second language but I'm having a hard time finding anything other than mainstream pop singers without a good starting point

As much as I love to draw Enojadita’s heart being shattered into a million pieces, she deserves to be happy on occasion.

When she was little, she loved to sing and dance along to her father’s guitar music

Speaking of which, meet Arturo! He dies when Enna is 14, but before he gets drafted for the war, he loved playing music more than anything, and was even a music teacher!

I tried to strive for a more spiky look to contrast to Dulzura’s roundness, and also to make him look somewhat similar to Enojadita in a way that isn’t their fur color.

IF I HAD TO CHOOSE MY LITERAL SONG OF THE YEAR….IT WOULD BE THIS ONE!!! so excited i had to use orange. yea I know it’s number 21, i have no idea how it’s that low on my list, it should’ve been 1st. so fun ramble! i saw this band, Kiltro, back in september and to this band is so fucking incredible live, oh my god. it was at a venue with only like 25 people, i danced the entire time with my cane like a madman, i felt so alive and their music still imbues me with such fantastical energy

ramble part 2 but about the song this time. they’ve got such incredible energy—syncopation and multiple guitar tracks and such a plucky, adventurous vibe. in the actual studio recording for this song, they messed up on the lyrics during their studio take! the missing lyrics are on official lyrics lists but not on the album, but uh. they’re fucking badass

anyways. kiltro’s music is really important to me. i latched onto em in the same way i latched onto lord huron years ago and there’s just so much love in my heart for these dudes, they’re all so nice and their music slaps

ooough and speaking of lord huron. this song is all about unrealistic expectations. though there’s so much love in the singer’s tone and the way he describes his adventures, the way he wants his lover to come to see the beauty he’ll see…his leaving is more important than his love after all— like he’d already made his decision. god I love this song, it’s gorgeous really! there’s just something about this first album that’s so intriguing from a storyteller’s perspective

6: Crystal Ball — Keane

i don’t know where i am / and i don’t really care / i look myself in the eye / there’s no one there

who are you when you lose yourself? this is a song that resonates so hard, between dissociation and a lack of self, god. do you give too much of yourself? do you lose yourself in the search for more? this song feels like a delightful little puzzle piece in a larger story and i love it so much

For the Q&A thing, whats your favorite genre of music, and what artists do you listen to in that catagory?

Ouiuughhh this is so difficult because i have very varied taste in music. i've narrowed it down to my 4 favourites, i'll share those with you!!

I think most of my playlist is Indie tbh, though i do have full ghibli soundtracks on it as well, so they might give indie a run for their money. RECENTLY i've been getting into ambient spanish guitar music and piano and jazz. 80s pop is self explanatory(I am queer).

SOME OF MY FAVOURITE ARTISTS:

1. Hozier(you all know hozier, you know why i listen to hozier)

2. Mac Demarco(im an insufferable man with insufferable tastes, but his music is really great, moonlight on the river makes me throw up blood)

3. TV Girl(lots of really cool sampling from old movies, the lyrics feel male manipulator-y but ipretend i do not see it)

4. Kiltro (if there is one band you check out from my list, let it be kiltro. they are incredible, some of the greatest music ive ever listened to)

5. Luiz Bonfa (PLEASE listen to luiz bonfa, his music is the finest spanish guitar to ever be strummed, it is life changing.)

6. SERAPHINE NOIR (I forgot to put her album up there but she makes INCREDIBLE LIKE- Breakcore meets jazz music?? listen to bordeaux from her, shes incredible)

JOY JOY have you heard the new Kiltro single + thoughts? Also thank you for getting me into this band

i have! i really fuck with it, it's super different than anything off of creatures and it has the same sort of underlying heavy dark tones as cuchito. it's not my favorite kiltro song i don't think but i think it's "the banger" of the album in the same way the drunk was for creatures of habit. it's also way, WAY more percussive than any of their previous tracks because of the new percussionist they brought on board and that's got me excited for the rest of underbelly.

also, the hook is chilean slang for "and now come the riot police," and that's pretty rad
