Cryptid of the Day: Kinderhook Blob

Description: In 1962, Bruce Hollenbeck was 10 years old, playing with his cousin in the woods behind his house, when they heard a high pitch whistle. That’s when they saw a white object peering at them from behind a pine tree. Two years later, two men walking in the woods saw a similar creature. The blob was last seen by two 14 year old boys while they were camping.

In 1962, Bruce Hallenbeck was 10 years old and loved to play in the woods of Kinderhook, New York. He and his cousin were playing behind Hallenbeck's house when a loud whistling sound pierced the air. The children stopped in their tracks, obviously confused by the noise. While looking for the source of the sound, the children saw a mysterious figure behind a tree. It was white object that was peeking around the tree at the two kids. Hallenbeck reported that the creature had no eyes despite the fact that he thought it was watching them. They quickly ran back to the house.

For two years, nothing else was seen. Until an anonymous witness claimed to see a floating white blob moving toward him while he was on a hike. He ran away in fear but returned to the scene with his friend, armed with a shovel and pitchfork. Upon seeing the creature again, the two men dropped their weapons and ran away.

Other sightings reportedly also took place in 1964. Some witnesses claimed to see the creature in 1978 where it was described as "bell shaped". There were even sightings of the Kinderhook Blob as recently as 2017. Witnesses Owen Farley and Anthony Malanowski described the creature as 7 feet tall. It floated toward them at a high speed and the two men ran away as fast as they were able.

In the 1960s in Kinderhook New York, 6 witnesses encountered a mysterious floating blob. It had no face, and hovered above the ground. Two young boys first encountered it hiding behind a tree in the woods. Over the next several years, various others would also lay witness to the mysterious blob.

The Kinderhook Blob is a floating blob-like creature found in Kinderhook New York. The Kinderhook Blob is described as a white floating blob-like creature with no facial features however it does emit a high pitched whistling noise. The Kinderhook Blob doesn’t do any harm it just scares people it even scared two armed men so badly that they dropped their weapons and ran away.

This evolved cryptdude has mastered both it’s levitation and control over it’s body shape. These creatures generally have 2 solid “legs” that they use to trample the ground as they float around. This behavior is unexplained but is considered harmless.

It was his turn to cook that day. But in truth, Sasori wasn’t entirely excited about it until he thought of asking his cousin Klarion to come help him. His older cousin knew the family recipes so he was perfect to come help him make something that his classmates would enjoy. He has been in the kitchen getting everything ready that he had been told to have on hand while he waited for Klarion to join him.

KINDERHOOK BLOB #KINDERHOOKBLOB During the 1960’s, no less six eyewitnesses claimed to have had encounters with a floating,  ghostly, blob-like creature that was so intimidating two armed men fled from it in mortal terror. The strange tale of this unique apparition begins in the forests surrounding Kinderhook, New York — a small town whose name literally translates to “Children’s Corner,” in the language of the original Dutch settlers — not far from the lake of the same name. Accounts I’ve come across regarding this anomalous animal (for lack of a better appellation) are at times contradictory — and some of the dates are frankly difficult to confirm — nevertheless, what we do know for sure is that the initial event to involve this undulating “being” occurred in 1962. The first report of this creature comes to us from author and New York State Library genealogist, Bruce Hallenbeck. When Hallenbeck was a 10-year old boy,  he and his cousin were frolicking in the woods behind his parent’s house when they both saw something they would never forget. Hallenbeck would record this bizarre event years later in 1992, in a book he wrote with Paul Bartholomew, Robert Bartholomew and William Brann titled: “Monsters of the Northwoods.”According to Hallenbeck: “WHEN I WAS 10 YEARS OLD (1962) I WAS UP IN THE WOODS BEHIND OUR HOUSE WITH MY COUSIN CHARI, WHO WAS THEN AGE SEVEN.  WE BOTH HEARD THIS REALLY HIGH-PITCHED WHISTLE NOISE.”
