(This lovely poster is the handiwork of our wonderful host @sazanes!!)
Welcome to our second edition of the King Liam Appreciation Week!! Just like last year, we are holding it around the time of the International Day for Monuments and Sites, which is on April 18th.
It's been 6 years since we were first introduced to the younger brother of the "Prince" LI from RoE, and he's been capturing the minds and hearts of many Choices players ever since! Whether it's for his romantic sensibilities, his compassion, his vast knowledge of both his country and the world, or his charm and diplomacy - he is a favourite among many Choices players.
As Liam is an avid lover of History and especially of monuments and heritage sites, we continue to hold this event around 18th April! This event will happen over 5 days - from April 17th to 21st. The themes for the days are as follows:
Day 1 - April 17th - Character Appreciation/Throwback
Day 2 - April 18th - King/Historian
Day 3- April 19th - Foodie/Baklava
Day 4 - April 20th - Childhood/Family
Day 5 - April 21st - Friendships/Relationships/AU
Keep in mind that you don't have to send the content on the exact day of the theme - if you give it a little later as well, it's still fine as long as you tag the piece with the day it was meant for (#KLAW Day 1, #KLAW Day 2, etc).
Any content is welcome! Fanfic, fanart, edits, moodboards, meta, interactive media, headcanons, character appreciation... anything! As long as it celebrates Liam as a character, focuses on him and shows positive depictions of him. We also accept WIPs and a specific day (Throwback) is set aside for past pieces on Liam. If you like, you can even tell us about the process of creating that piece (here's an ask list for throwback pieces if you have doubts!).
Make sure you tag @kingliamappreciationweek in your posts, as well as the hosts @lizzybeth1986 and @sazanes in your content so we don't miss it! It would also make it easier to track if you use the tags #kingliamappreciationweek and #KLAW in your posts as an extra precaution.
For inspiration, take a look at our KLAW 2022 Masterlist! It's got some brilliant pieces!!
Various fan content blogs have helped in promoting our weeks and also run great events on a weekly/monthly basis. We would definitely love for our participants to check them out in case they'd like to be part of those too: @choicesficwriterscreations, @choicesmonthlychallenge, @choicespride, @choicesprompts, @choicesholidays, @wip-wipeout-weekend, @moodmusicmonday.
Once the week is officially over, we will keep a bonus week for participants who have trouble sending content during the week itself.
We have over a month to get ready for KLAW, and we're super excited to see what our fellow Liam fans might have in store! See you all in April!!
✅✅signal boosts will be highly appreciated!!✅✅

"I came first."
"But I saw it first."
"I reached out for it first."
"But I caught hold of it first."
"I get to use it because I am a boy."
"No, I get to use it because I am a Nevrakis."
The sentences were growing longer as was the argument. Savannah and Liam looked at each other, rolled their eyes, huffed a sigh in unison and sat down on a rock. This was not how they had planned their weekend at Lythikos but It was a routine for them to witness Drake and Olivia arguing over trivial issues. As kids, it would be cheese or jam on bread or the equal distribution of chocolates received from a generous visitor to the palace. Growing up, as teenagers it changed to, who gets the window seat on a drive or who gets which horse for a ride. At this moment, they were fighting for a piece of driftwood shaped like a sword that they found in the snow outside the Lythikan chateau.
"You already have Zenobia!" Drake yelled.
"Had! Max broke it."
"Not my problem." Drake shrugged.
Savannah snickered at the mention of Olivia's childhood toy sword. "Are they ever going to grow up?"
Liam shook his head, "Someone needs to remind them that they are fifteen not five."
"What if they never change?"
"They will change when they realise their true feelings." He smiled.
"You really think so?"
Liam gave a wide grin.
Savannah smiled back saying, "You know, you are…."
" … a hopeless romantic." He completed her sentence. "I know."
Thud! The sudden shift of sound cut their conversation short.
Savannah panicked at the scene in front of her. "Oh, no,no,no. No!"
Drake tried to snatch the wood from Olivia and one thing led to another. Soon, they were both wrestling.
Liam and Savannah jumped up. It was an unwritten agreement between the two that they wouldn't intervene unless the fight converted to physical form of infliction. And it was also pre-decided that Liam would manage Olivia while Savannah would catch and push Drake away. Olivia with all her Nevrakis might was impossible for Savannah to handle. Savannah found it easy with Drake. A simple tickling on his sides and his body would give way.
Savannah nodded, "Now!"  Liam leapt and  caught hold of Olivia by waist, pulling her away. As soon as Olivia's clutch loosened from Drake's neck, Savannah pushed Drake, butting her head into his muscular chest. Her fingers crawled upwards on his sides.
Drake started squealing, "No, not again. Savvie! This is… aaaaa..unfair! Stop!"
On the other end, Liam was trying to calm down a ferocious Olivia, but she was throwing her limbs in the air frantically. "Leave me!"
Suddenly, a loud shriek made Olivia stop and turn. Savannah had fallen down and Drake had toppled over her.
Liam released Olivia and they both rushed to her side. Drake untangled his leg and moved aside to find her yelping in pain. "I am sorry, Savvie, I didn't mean to. Here, let me.." He tried to lift her but her left leg seemed to be badly twisted. She screamed in pain.
"What's wrong?" They all turned to look at Bastein who had rushed to them, after listening to the noise.
"Bas,..." Savannah started crying, "I can't stand. I may not be able to walk."
"Shhh! Let me have a look." He quickly hunched down and examined her leg. Savannah would not let him touch. She seemed to be in extreme pain. "Savannah dear, I think you have sprained your foot badly. Let me call for first aid. "
Bastein made a few calls. In a matter of a few minutes, her leg was put in a temporary splint and a SUV was ready to take her to hospital.
Drake tried to help Savannah but she raised her hand to stop him. "You have done enough damage," she wailed out. Liam took the hint and promptly came ahead to help. Drake quietly stepped aside feeling more guilt.
Liam asked concerned, "Bas, can I go along with her to the hospital?"
"If you insist."
Liam's face lit up. " Yes, please." He swiftly climbed into the seat next to Savannah. He then gave a scornful look to his friends. "Try not to kill each other. Warriors of Lythikos." He taunted and moved his hand across Savannah's shoulder, protectively.
Once the vehicle moved out of sight Olivia's  caretaker Ms Berkes, ushered her and Drake in for a warm drink.
Drake sat slumped.
"She didn't really mean it you know, right?" Olivia made a statement.
"Hmm. I am sorry."
"What? What did you just say?" Olivia looked with her eyes wide as a pan.
Drake cleared his throat to repeat. "I said, " I am sorry."
"Drake Walker is apologizing! I can't believe it!" She threw her hands up I the air.
"Please. You have to let me make this right.” Had I not been stubborn, Savvie wouldn't have gotten hurt so badly."
Olivia waved it off, "Stop blaming yourself for a little mishap. She should have been careful. She should have gauged whom she was tackling." Olivia got up to leave, "Anyways, it looks like it will snow soon. I am going to grab a book in the library." She announced and then mumbled on her way, " Lost that sword stick too! " She pouted her lips. Her hand started fidgeting with the edge of her shirt.
Drake caught the way her hand grabbed the cloth, a sign that she was dejected over losing the sword. Now, he felt even worse. He couldn't make either of the ladies happy. Savannah was hurt badly and he couldn't be beside her for comfort. Thankfully, Liam was with her. Fine, so what if Savvie left, at least he could prove it to Olivia. She was still here. He looked out of the glass window. The storm hadn't set in yet. It looked like a faint drizzle. What if he quickly ran out and got that piece of wood for Olivia?
He rushed out without giving it a second thought. A fresh layer of snow had covered the already white grounds. He scrambled through the rough terrain, ignoring his insufficient clothing for the harsh climate. He was unmindful of his bare hands without the gloves when he tried shifting snow to dig in a bit if it was where they left it.
Finally he was successful. He started running back to the Chateau. The moment he entered, he heard Olivia calling out for him.
"Drake, Bastein called. There is a storm coming so they won't….." she stopped mid sentence when her eyes fell on Drake near the entrance. He was beaming as if he had won a trophy but what she saw was Drake in a disheveled state.
"What on earth were you upto?" She said in a shocked tone.
"I found the sword. Here." He presented the piece of wood with a puffed up chest. He was sure she would be excited to see it. "For you."
"Are you out of your mind?" She lashed out instead. He was confused. Did he do something wrong now?
"It's snowing out there. The storm is setting in and you went out like this?" She pointed out his attire. "Where is your sweater? And where are the gloves?"
All at once, realization hit him. The adrenaline rush had kept him going. He felt the shiver creeping up his body now. He was cold and numb.
"Ms Berkes!" Olivia shouted. She closed the distance between them and held Drake who was now turning pale. Without waiting for her caretaker, she started dusting away the remnants of snow from his body. She pulled out the coat from the hanger stand  at the corner of the entrance and covered Drake's visibly shivering body.
"Come here." She made him sit on the couch and started rubbing his hands. Ms Berkes came in the meantime and without any questions helped Drake.
He kept looking between the two of them, dumbfounded. Whenever he tried to open his mouth to speak, Olivia would shut him. "Keep quiet. You need to conserve whatever energy is left in that weak body of yours."
He decided to keep his mouth zipped if he had to survive under the Lythikan roof and that too in Olivia's presence.
Ms Berkes served him hot soup that made him comfortable. Soon he was fast asleep on the couch. Olivia arranged a pillow to tuck under Drake's head. She sat down with her cell phone, checking the weather updates. She couldn't complete her sentence earlier to tell Drake that Liam and Savannah won't be returning due to an alert from the Met department.  Ms Berkes took the excuse to place a call to the palace and update Bastein.
Olivia took the cue and dialed Liam's number.
"Good evening."
"Good evening."
"How's Savannah?"
"She is good. Resting in the west wing under Bastein's watch. How are you?"
"Good." She let out a sigh.
Liam chuckled. "Is Drake troubling you again?"
"Don't ask."
"That bad, huh?" Liam snickered.
Olivia looked at Drake's sleeping form. He looked peaceful. "He went out just before the storm." She rolled her eyes. "Without a sweater!" She added.
"What? How is he?"
"Ms Berkes helped him warm up. He is alive." She wanted to kick him for causing all the trouble.
"But why did he go out? It's unlike him to act so stupid." Liam questioned.
"To get that wooden sword."
"Seriously? That's crazy. He is still fighting over that piece when his sister.."
Olivia interrupted, "for me." She said in a barely audible voice.
"For?" Liam asked. Did he hear it right?
She winced at the thought and the reaction Liam may give. "You heard it." She won't repeat it.
A hearty laugh boomed through the earpiece of her phone. Olivia closed her eyes and covered them. She could dig in a hole in the earth just to hide herself, right now. This was so embarrassing.
"I told you." He laughed again. " I always told you."
"Whatever." She tried to take it casual.
"No, you can't deny it. The guy is serious. He really likes you. All the fights and arguments he has with you, they are all just a facade to hide his feelings. Poor Drake."
"Poor?" Olivia almost jumped. "I had to spend an hour to warm him up."
"Oh really, and may I know how you did that?" Liam teased.
"The medical first aid that all Lythikans learn as a baby." Olivia was not going to have a foot in mouth moment. She was not going to let him know that in the spur of the moment, she had hugged him to exchange her body heat to warm him up. That she had cuddled up till she was sure that he was fine. She shifted the focus. " I am tired after all the hard work. You take care. We will travel back to the palace tomorrow morning after weather clears."
"Sure, you take care of yourself. Don't pick up fights with Drake. Trust me, he really likes you."
"Good night, Li." She stressed on ending the conversation.
"Good night Liv." She could hear the thrill in his voice.
She tapped on the red icon and callously slid the phone on the couch. Her gaze shifted to Drake. She got up from her place and scooted down near him. Drake. As she knew him. Or did she know him? The chubby face had changed so much in the past few years. But their fights had not. The cute little voice with which he adoringly called her 'Livy' had turned husky with a depth to it. But the affection in that voice had not changed. The boy had grown up into a lad who could manage many things. But not his silky hair. A smile danced on her lips. Her hand unknowingly went up to the few stray strands that had fallen over his eyes. Her fingers gently moved the chestnut hair aside and traveled over the contours of his chiseled face to stop near his lips. Her lips curled looking at his slightly open mouth. She lowered herself dangerously close to him, breathing the same air. Her lips had just brushed over his parted lips when….
"Olivia?" She heard Ms Berkes' soft whisper.
She acted to be tucking the blanket around Drake and stood straight.
"I think he is fine now. I will catch up some sleep. Good night, Ms Berkes." Olivia scurried away from the scene.
She spent a sleepless night, tossing in the bed. Outside the skies were dealing with a storm and inside, Olivia was fighting her own inner storm.
*************************************************
Next morning. ...
The sky was clear and the wind pleasant  as was Olivia's mood. She had a skip in her step when she went out in the gardens. There was sometime before they got clearance for traveling to the palace. She sat on a swing but didn't swing. Only her thoughts were swinging and singing to her.
She was so engrossed that she didn't notice Drake walking down and sitting on the neighboring swing.
"Good morning, Livy. "
She was startled but quicly composed herself. "Good morning."
She said curtly and turned her head in opposite direction. He was back to normal. There were no signs of any effect of storm on him. And there was no sign of any effect of last night's rendezvous.  She wasn't sure about the later. She just hoped there was none.
He tried to initiate the conversation, "Thank you."
"Thank you for what? Letting you survive another day." She smirked.
Drake gave a genuine smile, "For all you did yesterday for me."
"You don't need to mention." Olivia looked away hiding the blush creeping on her neck.
"I want to say one more thing."
"What is it? " Her heart raced as she glanced at him.
"You left something with me last night. I wanted to give it back to you."
She gave him a puzzled look.
"Can I kiss you?"

Chasing the Moon, Chapter Two: Finding Her Place
Tumblr media
Book: The Royal Romance
Words: 2,550
Rating: Chapter PG-13, Series is Mature
Summary: AU to The Royal Romance where Olivia and Drake were involved before the social season. What would happen when the newcomer from New York arrives in Cordonia and upsets the balance of old friendships and old love?
Olivia was disappointed Drake had not found his way to her room last night. But it was the social season now, and reluctant as she was to admit it, she did need to act like she wanted it.
Olivia thought back to the bonfire a few weeks ago. She sat beside Drake, his arm wrapped around her holding her close. Liam sat with his legs outstretched, silently sipping on scotch. Even Maxwell was quietly sitting cross-legged on the ground. This was the beginning of the end for their group. Liam would become king and was about to choose his future wife. But it wasn't just that. They were all changing.
Maxwell was struggling to maintain his fun-loving mask, and the group was becoming aware that something more was going on with him. Drake was still grieving the loss of his sister. In addition, the strain of their difference in position was becoming more significant as the years passed, creating an invisible divide between the friends. They sat, silently supporting one another knowing that things were soon coming to an end. They could no longer be the 'palace brats' the nickname given to their group by others at court. They needed to grow up and none of them were ready.
"So how are you holding up Li?" Drake asked.
Liam took a long swig of scotch straight from the bottle.
"I've been better," he answered, trying to hide the burn of the liquor.
"This really sucks, Liam," Maxwell comforted.
Liam stood up pacing as he continued to drink his scotch.
"I just wasn't prepared for this. Not now. I knew that I would eventually marry but I thought I would have time." He sat back down taking another draw of scotch. "Maybe I was naive, but I thought I would get the chance to fall in love."
He looked down saddened and threw the remnants of the bottle into the fire, the alcohol causing a burst of flame. They all stood and moved over to Liam. Olivia sat next to him softly rubbing his back.
Drake offered decisively, "I think we should talk about the social season. Li, you're going to be the king."
"Is it that obvious Drake?"
"Li, there are some fucked up bitches at court," Drake offered.
Olivia agreed. "We have all met Cuntess Madeline!"
Drake continued. "If you don't find a suitor, I mean someone you truly like, someone that you think can handle the crown and make you happy… then I think you should choose Liv."
All three of them snapped their heads to Drake.
"Drake," Olivia started to protest but Drake stopped her.
"Listen Liv, this is forever for Liam. And it's not just finding a wife but running the country with him."
Olivia stared at Drake, mouth agape.
"He has a point, Liv.” Liam interjected, “But, only if you're willing." She turned to Liam with tears in her eyes. "You would be an amazing queen, and we would all still be together. You and Drake could still be together, I mean." He shrugged sheepishly.
Maxwell agreed, "It might not be what you want right now Livvy, but Liam needs you....if he can't find someone better."
Olivia chuckled, swiping at the unshed tears.
"Gee thanks, Max."
"Come on, that's not what I meant, Livvy," Maxwell reassured her.
Liam reached out taking one hand and Drake took the other.
"I know it's a lot to ask but I can't do this alone, Liv. I can't spend my life with someone I despise just because it looks good to the court. I hope maybe there will be someone that I develop feelings for and that can rule with me, but if not...." he looked up, his eyes meeting Olivia's as Drake rubbed soft circles on her hand.
Olivia turned to Drake.
"You would want this?"
Drake shrugged, "You guys are nobles. It's your duty to put the crown first, I get that. I'm not bound by that same obligation. You two may not find the kind of love you were hoping for but you could still have love in your marriage. That's a hell of a lot better than most nobles I know.”
Oliva looked down thinking. The problem for Olivia is that she had already found that sort of love and she was not sure she was willing to give it up. But they had a point. She couldn't leave Liam to the vultures at court. She looked back up meeting Liam's eyes.
"Okay."
He smiled, "Really?"
She nodded "Yes. But for the record, I hope you can find someone you really love to rule beside you."
"I can't tell you how much this means to me, Liv, " he leaned over, placing a kiss on her cheek then pulling her in, hugging her tightly. He also pulled Drake into the hug and Maxwell joined too.
"Well, House Beaumont still does not have a suitor, so who knows, maybe we'll find the love of your life at the last minute and sponsor her in the social season."
They all laughed while opening a new bottle and sharing a drink.
Olivia pulled herself out of the memory and back to the present.  It was derby day and Olivia always loved going to the derby. She loved the fashion and prestige of it all while Drake loved the horses and the racing. It brought something raw and even more manly out of him and she felt her body tingling thinking about what it brought out in the bedroom the last time they went.
Typically their foursome occupied the royal tent, Olivia and Liam sipping on champagne and Drake and Max enjoying a cold beer. Olivia realized she would likely need to stay with the other suitors this time but she hoped to sneak a little alone time with Drake tonight.
Olivia went down to the boutique to choose her outfit for the derby. As far as Olivia was concerned a derby hat was a must. She chose a large floppy black hat and a white dress with sheer sleeves and white polka dots. It was derby perfection. She smiled at herself in the mirror as she caught a glimpse of Samantha behind her. She smirked, turning to her.
"I'm surprised to see you're still here."
"I'm not planning on going anywhere, no matter how bitchy you are to me, Duchess." She gave her an exaggerated bow as she turned to look over the dresses.
Huh, Olivia considered. She's got spunk even if she does lack class.
"Look, I know you've probably never been to one of these before but you really must dress the part. Hats are a must." She winked at her as she confidently strode out.
Upon arrival at the derby Olivia was guided through the throng of press answering questions eloquently, as always. She was the Duchess of Lythikos and the press and people had fallen in love with her over the years. She joined the suitors’ tent mingling with the other ladies but had not seen Drake or Liam since her arrival, assuming they were having a private party in Liam's tent.
Olivia excused herself to use the restroom and caught sight of Drake leading Lady Samantha over to Liam's tent. Her arm was wrapped through his and they were talking and laughing together. Olivia felt her smile drop as she watched them. They seemed to have an easy comfort despite only recently meeting.
Drake turned as he opened the tent for Samantha and caught sight of Olivia. He offered a quick wink as he entered the tent. Olivia turned on her heel heading for the restroom. She rested her hands on the counter leaning forward attempting to catch her breath. She hated admitting it to herself but she was jealous seeing them together. They even looked good together.  It was almost like they fit, both casual and athletic.
Olivia took a deep breath composing herself and exited the restroom. She started walking briskly back to the suitors' tent when she almost bumped directly into Drake holding three beers in his hands.
She looked down taking in the beer then looked away continuing her walk.
"Liv." She heard Drake call after, catching up to her a moment later. "What, you can't even say hello?"
She stopped turning to meet his eyes, blinking back the moisture.
"You look busy entertaining other suitors."
Drake cocked his head. "Liv, she's in there for Liam. Don't be like that."
"Still, you two look pretty comfortable together."
Drake smirked. "Are you jealous Duchess?" Olivia rolled her eyes at him. He leaned in toward her. "Liv don't be like this. I'm trying to help out Liam. He asked me to watch out for her. The ladies of court have not exactly been welcoming," he raised his eyebrow knowingly.
"Whatever.  Go deliver your beers. I'll see you later."
"That you can count on," he winked at her as she made her way back to the tent for the race.
Olivia kept busy watching the race and socializing with the other suitors. Several started asking questions about where Lady Samantha was, but Olivia brushed it off, even providing excuses for her absence. ‘Bertrand is probably busy lecturing her about the picnic.”
After the race, she watched as Drake escorted Samantha back over to the suitors' tent. They were both smiling and laughing and she was casually resting her hand on his arm.
Olivia could not help but feel the green-eyed monster stir within her, especially as she watched Drake turn back for a second look as she walked away. His smile instantly fell as he met Olivia's eyes and offered her an uncomfortable wave.
Her heart thumping, Olivia turned and walked swiftly to her Rolls Royce to carry her to the picnic. Once in the privacy of her car, she allowed her feelings to surface.
How could things have changed so drastically in just a few days? Or maybe it had never been to Drake what it was to her. She wiped the moisture from her eyes and pulled out her makeup bag to quickly freshen up. She finished just as the car halted at the picnic. Olivia's driver opened the door for her as she gracefully exited, joining the procession of suitors waiting to greet Queen Regina. Olivia watched as Hana and Samantha joined the end of the line next to her. The two appeared to become fast friends. The Herald sounded and Queen Regina appeared accompanied by Madeline.
Olivia heard Hana and Samantha whispering about who the blonde was.
Olivia scoffed, "That's Cuntess Madeline. She was engaged to the former Crown Prince Leo but he dropped her as fast as he could once he abdicated. I suspect she's not done in her quest for the crown."
"What do you mean?" Hana asked naively.
"Just wait and see."
"Queen Regina" Olivia curtsied, "Maddie" she scoffed taking in the Countess.
"Why Duchess Olivia. Always a pleasure to see you,” the Queen greeted and then lowered her voice to a whisper. "You keep these ladies in line.”
Olivia grinned. "It's what I do best."
She continued down the line greeting Lady Hana and Samantha taking extra time grilling Samantha. It was already clear she was the favorite. The procession then moved over to the croquet field for the ceremonial game. Regina chose the Countess for her partner, officially announcing her as a contender and Liam chose Samantha.
Olivia couldn't help but notice how Liam's face lit up when he spoke to her. It was disgustingly adorable, she had to admit. Olivia made her way over to the refreshments tent when she felt his presence behind her and his breath on her ear.
"Meet me behind the tent?"
She nodded, immediately missing the heat from his body. She sipped her lemonade and then slipped around the tent to find Drake waiting for her. He grabbed her arm pulling her flush against his body. He smirked looking down at her brushing a few stray strands of hair from her face.
"Liv," he leaned down, planting a soft kiss on her lips. She returned the kiss but then pulled away. Drake exhaled frustrated. "What is it Liv?"
She shrugged, "I'm not sure. Things are changing. It doesn't feel good."
Drake nodded. "We knew things would have to change with the social season, Liv."
"I know.  It's just not in the way I expected. Not with you."
"What do you mean?" He moved over to her, lifting her chin to look into her eyes. He saw the moisture there.
"Liv…"
She pulled away.
"It's fine. I just...it's nothing." Olivia felt like a jealous schoolgirl. She shook it off and wrapped her arms around Drake's strong shoulders. He leaned down, capturing her lips, aggressively. Olivia moaned as he slipped his tongue into her mouth tasting her familiar taste. His strong hands roamed down her body pulling her in closer to him so she could feel the effect she was having on him. Olivia let out a soft moan.
"Hey, have you guys seen Sammie?" Maxwell's head peeked around the tent.
Drake and Olivia both turned to him scowling at his interruption.
"Okay. I'm gonna take that as a no.” He slipped back into the tent.
Olivia scoffed. "I swear I have never met a bigger cockblock than Maxwell Beaumont. It's like he has special radar or something."
Drake chuckled cupping her cheek in his hand.
"Will we continue this later?" Olivia nodded as Drake gave her one more short but steamy kiss before slipping away.
Olivia took a moment to fix her lipstick and compose herself before heading back into the tent. She grabbed a glass of lemonade and walked into the sunlight on the lawn. Her eyes scanned the crowd spotting Liam, Samantha, Lady Hana, Maxwell, and Drake all sitting together chatting happily. She brushed off her feelings as Drake met her eyes giving her a soft smile. She returned it and walked over to Lady Penelope and Lady Kiara who were currently complaining about the Countess's return.
Later that evening Olivia waited in her room for Drake to stop by. She was wearing a red satin robe with nothing underneath. He was taking longer than expected and she found herself drawn to the balcony of her room, breathing in the salty Mediterranean air. She heard voices in the distance and laughter. She looked to see a group walking up the grounds. She made out Liam, Lady Hana, and Maxwell.  Then in the rear were Drake and Lady Samantha. Behind all of them was Bastien, who looked up to meet Olivia's watery gaze.
She pulled her robe tightly around her and entered her room. Olivia slumped onto her bed unable to stop the tears from flowing this time. She had spent most of her life as an integral part of a foursome of friends...the palace brats. But in a matter of days, she had been replaced. It wasn't just the feeling that she was losing Drake that upset her so much. It was no longer having a place, no longer being needed. Their tight-knit crew had changed, and she was no longer a part of it.

Kat’s Guide to Choices: Fave Books and LIs
Hey everyone! For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Kat, and I’ve been playing Choices since ~2016. Being on the app for so long has given me a lot of time to read a lot of series, and of course, I’ve accumulated a lot of favourites from among them. Some of those favourites are unsurprising, because they’re widely recognised as well-written or they’re similar to ‘real-life’ books that I enjoy: think Blades of Light & Shadow, Most Wanted, Mother of the Year. Others are surprising, even to me, because at first glance they seem like shallow romances but if you play them just right then they go straight for your heart: think Baby Bump (I dare you to play it romancing Myra Dixon), Big Sky Country (I dare you to play it as an MLM romance), The Cursed Heart (it doesn’t even matter how you play that one, I think it’s the most underrated series Choices has ever had). It’s gotten to the point where I think it’d be cool to have this pinned post of all the series that stand out to me on the app, plus all the LIs that made them feel special. I’m not the type of person who likes picking between favourites, so it’s not going to be a ranked list, or a list with a limited number of slots – I’ve just done it alphabetically, and I’ll keep adding to it as I go. I hope that it helps people celebrate their own favourites, and maybe even inspires people to read something new 😊
Without further ado, here are my favourite series and LIs on Choices:
Baby Bump – Myra Dixon (whom I renamed Harper)
Big Sky Country – Sawyer Oakley
Blades of Light & Shadow – Tyril Starfury
Bloodbound – Adrian Raines
Crimes of Passion – Princess Trystan Thorne
The Cursed Heart – Prince Kieran
The Deadliest Game – Dante Valdez (it’s still early days for this book, but I absolutely love it so far)
Desire & Decorum – Ernest Sinclaire
The Elementalists – Griffin Langley
Foreign Affairs – Tatum Mendoza
Guinevere – King Arthur
Laws of Attraction – Gabe Ricci
Most Wanted
Mother of the Year – Thomas Mendez
Ms. Match – Jack Monroe (whom I renamed Elijah Bennett)
Murder at Homecoming – Donovan Navarro
Nightbound – Nik Ryder
Open Heart – Rafael Aveiro
Perfect Match – Damien Nazario
The Royal Masquerade – Kayden Vescovi (whom I renamed Kaspian)
The Royal Romance/The Royal Heir/The Royal Finale – Liam Rhys (whom renamed Nikola)
Save the Date – Simon Hendricks
Slow Burn – Julian Navarro
The Unexpected Heiress – John Somerset
Veil of Secrets – Naomi Silverhawk (I got really close to picking Kate O’Malley once I realised that she was an option, but in the end I couldn’t reject Naomi, and I think she doesn’t get enough love)

Shelter Rewrite for like the 4th Time 🥲
Let me just @jj-pines @karaboutmyart @lerenee okay I think that’s everyone on the counsel
I know I know, I have down this way too many times, I am sorry, but I am making better I swear. haha remember when Shelter was about space 😅
New Shelter or Romance at Bridgehid College is a more romance center fantasy story, with Indigo and Calvin at the center, I know it’s about damn time I’m sorry okay I was dumb! It’s all gonna be set around a Magic and alchemy College on a small island.
But I really wanna try to make it like the Romance in the front with a deeper story hidden behind it all. Man behind the curtain type shit.
Characters to show up:
Indigo and Calvin obviously
Indigo's family: Finnian, Amethea, and Antoinette another obvious one
Sloan and Casper because I love them
Esma and her child Rowan Blair King
Daddy Neon
Maybe Friendly characters like Hex, Romano, Rhys, and Mr. Liam-Elias
And extremely minor characters like professors, people secretive counsel, and maybe the head master of the college
Also some mention of gods and goddess which can find information in this post
Of course you can read on AO3. I AM SORRY I AM DOING THIS BULLSHIT AGAIN!
Got any questions send them my way!

Book: TRR AU/ Once upon a time prequel
Pairings:Liam x Savannah
Word count:1367
Disclaimer: All characters belong to pixelberry.
Rating: Mature
Warning: none
A/N: The @kingliamappreciationweek (day 1 ) was an excellent excuse to revisit my very old WIPs. Thank you @lizzybeth1986 for brainstorming the title for this fic that hopefully will be a mini series.
Prompt: That's how the story goes @choicesflashfics and flower, sunrise @aprilchallenge by @peonierose for @choicesmonthlychallenge
🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀🥀
The island of Corsica,
Mediterranean sea,
France.
The first rays of the rising sun kissed the peak of Monte Cinto igniting the deep red of the granite and then bowed at its foothills before bathing the valley of Lozzi. With the thick backdrop of chestnut forests and the evergreen sheet of the shrubs, the village of Lozzi brightened to its glory. The fragrance of the flowers of the Maquis carried far out across the land as life stirred awake on the “Scented Isle.”
Savannah was already up on her toes, hastening through her morning chores before she reached her workplace.
It had been a couple of years since she left Cordonia and had made her little abode on this island. She had no regrets, no complaints. With her qualifications she was able to pick up a job that helped her manage her expenses in Corsica. Moreover, she was grateful for having a reason to live. A reason to look at the world through the innocent blue eyes of her little munchkin. She thanked the Almighty in her prayers and then got ready for the day.
After a couple of hours, she walked down a curved path to a cream building that had a dull blue board with a large print of 'Middle school of Moltifao'. This was where she had found her happiness. She was re- living her childhood teaching history lessons to some ten year olds here. She entered a modest room decorated with hand made amateur charts.
Twenty one curious little minds were eagerly waiting in that room for an interesting story from their teacher, whom they adored. They were all delighted to see her and so was she.
Except, the topic for the day was a bit difficult for her to deal with. It was going to bring back memories of her 'Prince Charming' and so much more. But, 'the show must go on' she thought and began…
"We discussed Vatican City last time. Today let's talk about Cordonia. Can anyone tell me what's common between these two countries of Europe?" She made their little minds work.
The plump girl on the first desk shot her hand high in the air. Savannah smiled at the Hermione of her class.
"Yes, Susan, tell me."
" They are both absolute monarchies." She beamed proudly.
"You are right."
Rio, who always had doubts about anything and everything, interjected, "But why? I understood the reasons for Vatican City in the last class Ms Walker. Why is Cordonia ruled by a king when the rest of the countries in Europe have elected governments?"
"Good question, Rio. Cordonia had its own struggle too. There was a period of unrest when a group of people revolted and did not want the royals. But everything changed when King Liam took over the reins."
She felt the blush rising to her cheeks. She was irritated, realizing what effect his name had on her even after all these years.
She covered up her nervousness and shifted her gaze from Rio to the rest of the class. "Anyone know about him and how he brought about the change?"
Susan again stretched her hand high, but so did Sana, the quietest of them all. Savannah smiled at Susan in an understanding and then asked Sana to speak. "He is King Liam, the wise. He is very kind, cares for his people and loves them."
"Very good, Sana!" She encouraged her.
Sana coyly looked at her classmates and when she saw everyone smiling, she continued, "King Liam belongs to the Rhys dynasty. Ever since his coronation he has helped his people. He relaxed many rules to ease out the life of common people. Unlike other nobles he gels with commoners and is comfortable with us."
The last word sent Savannah's mind on a spin. 'She said 'us'. What does she mean by 'us'? Is she from Cordonia? What are the odds? Will my secret be revealed?' her thoughts were racing yet she maintained her poise and politely asked, "That's very nice,Sana. How do you know these details?"
"My aunt lives in Cordonia. They have apple orchards there. Aunt Cher told me there was an attack once by bad people and all their orchards were destroyed. She says King Liam waived off the taxes and came down himself to work with farmers.  That's how the story goes." Sana concluded.
Savannah would have been lost in her thoughts, of her time with him around the apple trees, had Nader not raised a question, "Did he fight the bad people?"
Sana shrugged her shoulders and looked at her teacher for an answer.
Savannah composed herself again, "Not exactly, Nader. The attacks happened when King Liam was just crowned."
Nader interjected wide eyed, " You mean there were more than one attack?"
Savannah nodded sadly. "Cordonia had a tough time. Liam had to face another such attack before he could prove himself. But under his command, the military became stronger, the council became more sympathetic to the needs of citizens and the country started flourishing. The bad people had to give up their fight and accept that Liam is the best ruler they have had in a century."
Emanuel, the wise boy of the class shared his opinion, "He seems to be a very nice person."
Savannah felt a wave of pride as she added, "Indeed he is. Liam is liked by not just his countrymen but he is even a favorite in meetings held at global levels. And guess why?" She spurred the kids.
Emanuel replied or rather questioned back, "Is it because he is very kind and always respectful?"
Savannah agreed, "Yes Emanuel, he is affectionate and gentle. He is courteous and obliging to all. That is the whole reason he is called people's king."
Rachel asked in a shy tone, "Is he handsome?"
Savannah almost snorted at the little girl's interest, "Very much! He is the most gallant and chivalrous gentleman you will ever meet."
"What does he look like?"
Savannah realized that she had turned as red as Rachel, blushing while she answered. " He is tall and a strong man. He looks at you with the calmest blue eyes and he is ever smiling, making you forget all your worries." This was getting a bit out of hand so she thought of changing the topic but the children seemed unstoppable.
Dave raised a point that turned out to be the most disturbing for Savannah, "Did you ever meet him or see him?"
She closed her eyes for a moment. 'I was supposed to be with him but I can't tell you that.' She took a deep breath before she spoke. "Yes, I was lucky to see and meet him a few years ago."
Some of the kids gasped at that. She responded with a weak smile. Rachel seemed to be fascinated just as Savannah was as a little girl. So she inquired, "That must be like a dream come true!"
Savannah nodded through teary eyes and tried to curb the choking feeling in her throat. 'No more.' she couldn't fight her emotions for long so she decided to wrap up the session.
She swallowed thickly, "I think that's enough for today's class. Your assignments are due next week. Till then, read well and enjoy the tales from the past." She waved off with her signature line. She picked up her belongings and scurried away from the class in an effort to hide the overwhelming feeling she had.
Her students were to just read their history books but for her it was revisiting those excruciating wounds that were left from the memories of the man she loved.
She moved out of the door and started to her left without looking. She thought she banged into a wall but it was cushioned and smelled familiar. Too familiar. Like a part of her. No, it was the missing part of her. She shut her eyes tight to shoo away the daydream but the sound that followed, confirmed that it was real.
"If you like me so much, why did you leave me?" Liam lamented in his deep tone.  Savannah slowly opened her eyes, to face the set of peaceful ocean blues. She lost all her control and the dams of her eyes came crashing down.
(part 2 coming soon. Thank you so much for reading 😊)

Chasing the Moon, Chapter 1: Smitten
Tumblr media
Summary: AU to The Royal Romance where Olivia and Drake were involved before the social season. What would happen when the newcomer from New York arrives in Cordonia and upsets the balance of old friendships and old love?
Book: The Royal Romance
Words: 2700
Rating: Mature, over 18 only
Drake walked through the halls of the palace with his bag slung over his shoulder. It had been a long flight and he was ready to shower and climb into bed. He opened the door to his room to find Olivia, lounging on his bed in nothing but a red satin thong.
"Welcome back, Walker."
He closed the door behind him letting his bag fall to the floor.
"Duchess Olivia. What a welcome surprise to see you here".
She rose from the bed, stalking over to him, her lips almost touching his as she moved her hands up over his hard biceps, feeling his muscles twitch beneath her touch.
"My, my Mr. Walker. I do believe you have managed to get even sexier since I last saw you." She moved her hand down over his already hardening bulge.
"And you, my Saucy Duchess,” he bent down lifting her effortlessly over his shoulder as she squealed, "have become even more unmanageable." Drake tossed her playfully onto the bed with a smirk. "Guess I'm going to have to teach you a lesson, Duchess." He laid his body down over hers, enveloping her mouth in a passionate, open-mouthed kiss.
"You taste as good as I remember, Drake,” Olivia cooed, then quickly unbuttoned his shirt and ripped off the T-shirt underneath. She ran her hands up the taught muscles of his back and took in a long inhale, relishing the smell of his skin and the way it soothed her nerves.  Her fingers moved down his back, slowly, taking in each tiny imperfection.  She had memorized every scar and bump by touch and could tell you exactly where it came from and what it looked like.  Her hands continued down to grip his muscular ass through his jeans and she pulled him closer, needing to feel him against her.
Olivia felt his hot breath moving across her skin and his lips were now hovering over her nipple.  He abruptly pulled it into his wanting mouth, sucking gently and letting his teeth graze her pink bud.
Olivia took a sharp inhale as a zip of excitement shot from her nipple down to her clit.  Drake smiled, looking up at her through his tussled hair while he moved to her other nipple, teasing it to a hardened peak. His eyes were chocolate and in them, she could see all his desires.
Olivia threw her leg up pushing him over and onto his back as she straddled his hips.  He was rigid beneath her and she felt her clit throbbing with need at the feel of him.  She popped the button on his jeans and moved down pulling the zipper down with her teeth, pushing his jeans and boxers off in one fluid movement. Olivia purred as she took in his long thick length. Her lips brushed the velvety skin and Drake groaned in pleasure and need. Her tongue flicked out tasting the precum leaking out of his swollen head then moved her tongue down his shaft massaging the prominent vein. Her mouth moved back up and she looked at Drake through her long lashes, meeting his chocolate eyes again.
"You want to fuck my mouth or my pussy?"
Drake inhaled sharply and before he could answer Olivia took all of him into her mouth hitting the back of her throat.
Drake grasped her shoulders and threw her onto the bed, covering her body with his own. He crashed his lips on hers as he ripped her thong from her body and plunged his fingers into her wet core. His thumb expertly circled her clit as he kissed her fervently. He knew every spot she liked to be touched, how she liked it, and when. It only took a few moments for her to fall apart under his touch. He removed his fingers and licked one covered in her essence.
"Fucking delicious."
He then ran the other along her bottom lip, allowing her to taste herself. She eagerly lapped at her juices as their lips crashed together again.
Drake flipped her over onto all fours and lined his cock up with her wet center. He tightly grasped both hips and thrust into her hard and fast. Olivia cried out at the intrusion and moved her hips back into his as he pumped into her. Drake lifted her hips to reach deeper and hit that special spot that makes her scream. He was immediately rewarded, as Olivia fell apart under him, with a gush of fluids, screaming his name. He followed moments later and collapsed onto her back, their sweaty bodies sliding together. Drake's softened dick slipped out of Olivia as he rose from the bed leaning over to offer her a sweet kiss.
"I need to take a shower."
He nodded and moved his naked body to the bathroom.
She exhaled tired and satisfied.
"Okay,  Drake. I'll be here."
Olivia heard the shower start and lay in bed alone with her thoughts. She was utterly in love with Drake Walker. Somehow in their little group, they had found each other. They tended to be hot and cold, both sharing similar personality traits. But physically, there was no denying their connection from an early age. They were each other's first kiss, first fuck, and for Olivia, her first love.
Drake sauntered out of the bathroom,  naked, a few moments later, still damp from his shower. He slipped into bed next to Olivia, pulling her close to his body. She felt his soft lips and scratchy stubble on her neck. The contrast was intoxicating. Olivia let out a breath.
"Tell me about New York."
Drake shrugged, kissing her neck softly, his hand tracing circles on her abdomen.
"Not much to tell. It was fun."
"Well I noticed Liam arrived this morning, but you and the man-child were not with him," she challenged.
Drake chuckled at her nickname for Maxwell.
"Well, the 'man-child' and I were delayed. Maxwell found a suitor for House Beaumont."
She turned back looking at him, eyebrows raised in surprise.
"In New York?"
He nodded. Olivia was running her red nails softly up and down his arm as they spoke. It was an intimate gesture that had become second nature to her in these special moments.
"Tell me about her."
Drake exhaled, "Not much to tell. She was our waitress on our last night there."
"A waitress?" Olivia repeated, disbelieving. "Maxwell picked a waitress to compete for the crown?"
"Yep. Liam was smitten."
Olivia turned back to look at Drake.
"Really?"
He nodded, smiling.
"I've never seen him like that. He had this goofy grin the whole time. He couldn't take his eyes off her. He said they kissed..." Drake stifled laughter.
"What?" Olivia questioned, smiling.
"Nothing really, it's just that he looked like a teenage boy going on and on about how magical the kiss was." Drake smiled. "It was actually pretty sweet."
Oliva furrowed her brow, "Humph. So, Maxwell decided to ask her to join the social season. And just like that, she agreed?" Drake nodded in response. "Hmmm. Do you think that's a little suspicious?"
"Definitely. But I don't think she's a crown chaser. I mean, I don't know that a waitress from New York can handle the crown, but she seems to really like Liam."
"Does he know? I mean, does Liam know that she is here?"
Drake shook his head. "He will find out at the masquerade tomorrow though."
Olivia exhaled, "Well, we'll just have to keep an eye on her for him."
Drake turned her head to meet his eyes.
"Olivia....that does not mean make her life a living hell, okay?"
"What? If she wants to be at court, she needs to be able to handle herself."
"Yeah,  well your way of initiating someone to court will send her running back to the States."
"Well, if she can't handle..."
Drake cut her off with a kiss, looking into her green eyes.
"Be nice Liv. Liam likes her, a lot. She might make him happy. And, if she is the one, that lets you off the hook." She smiled at the prospect. "Besides...if you send her running, you'll be cut off for a month." He smirked as he lightly smacked her ass.
Olivia feigned injustice, lightly punching him in the arm. "Alright, alright. I will try to be good."
Drake smiled nuzzling into her body.
"Just not too good, my Saucy Duchess."
Olivia grinned as she felt his breath on the back of her neck slow and become longer. She was glad he was back. Now she felt at home.
The Masquerade
The following day, Olivia found herself meandering around the ballroom of the masquerade. She was engaging in idle chit-chat with Penelope and Kiara when she saw Drake walk in. He was in his usual jeans and a denim shirt and strode over to the bar tossing Olivia a wink as he went. She fought back a smile as her eyes followed him.
"Who is that?" she heard Kiara say looking at a woman approaching the group.
Olivia rolled her eyes.
"That's Lady Hana Lee. Her family lives in Shanghai but her mom is connected to a lesser noble house here in Cordonia."
She watched Hana walk up to the group giving her a tight grin. "Lady Hana, welcome to Cordonia."
"Why thank you, Duchess Olivia, it's a pleasure to meet you."
Hana was a beautiful woman with glossy brown hair and was a natural beauty. Her gown was sparkling pale pink with a matching mask. She seemed docile and Olivia knew that in theory, she would be a good match for Liam, but Olivia thought they might be too similar. Liam needed someone a touch more independent.
Just then,  Olivia heard the herald announce the suitor of House Beaumont
"Samantha Moretti of New York," and turned her head to spot the woman that had apparently stolen Liam's heart. She looked over to see the woman wearing a red and black dress. It was sheer in spots, strapless, and hugged her curves. She had long brown locks and Olivia could admit she was a beautiful girl. She watched as Maxwell was pulled away by Bertrand and Samantha made a beeline for Drake.
Olivia knew she was brought here for Liam and that she shouldn't let it bother her, but she felt her stomach turn and a heat rise to her cheeks watching her giggle with Drake. So, Olivia walked commandingly up to the pair and interrupted.
"Pardon me, but I absolutely must steal her away."
Drake nodded silently mouthing "Be nice" to Olivia. She rolled her eyes in response.
"Forgive me for being forward but I have never seen you here before and I always make it a point to know all the ladies at court. I'm Lady Olivia Vanderwall Nevrakis, Duchess of Lythikos. What brings you here, Samantha Moretti from New York?"
Samantha spoke casually looking around the room.
"Well, I'm here for Prince Liam, same as you I guess."
Olivia laughed.
"You have no idea what you're getting into, do you?"
Samantha looked down uncomfortably as Maxwell made his way over to Oliva and Samantha, just as the herald began announcing the Royal family. Drake also joined and Olivia felt him behind her, brushing his hand against hers, momentarily. Olivia felt a flutter in her stomach at his touch and her breath hitched. She looked briefly over her shoulder and gestured with her eyes toward the exit. Drake gulped back the rest of his whiskey and moved quickly toward the door. Olivia followed a few moments later, meeting Drake at the end of a long and abandoned hallway.
Drake stood leaning back against the stone wall with his arms crossed over his chest and one leg, bent at the knee,  propped up against the wall. He was wearing a sexy smirk as she made her way over to him. Olivia walked with just a little extra sway to her full hips and Drake noticed appreciatively.
"Fancy meeting you here, Walker" Drake pushed himself off the wall and met her a few steps later. He raised his hand gently brushing the side of her cheek.
"You look beautiful, Liv."
Olivia tried to hide the blush rising on her cheeks, unsuccessfully. Drake leaned in and kissed her softly, sucking gently on her bottom lip as he pulled away.
"So, what did you want to talk about, my Saucy Duchess."
She smiled remembering their tryst from the night before and falling asleep in his arms.
"Nothing particularly. I talked to the New Yorker."
"Her name's Samantha, Liv."
"Yeah, yeah," she waved him off.
"Were you nice?" He teasingly ran his hand down the length of her body, reminding her of his threat.
Olivia gave him a flirty smile. "Nice enough. She didn't leave, did she?"
Drake smirked. "Speaking of which, shouldn't you be in there being presented to the Crown Prince?"
Olivia rolled her eyes. "I hardly think that's necessary."
Drake became serious. "Yeah Liv, it is. You are officially one of his suitors now. You should be in there working the room or whatever you guys do. Not out here with me."
Her smile fell.
"Drake, you know the deal. If it comes down to it, I will step up and do what's necessary. But it’s not what I want."
"What is it that you want, Liv?"
Olivia searched  Drake's eyes, about to respond, when Bastien turned the corner.
"Duchess Oliva, Drake," he gave him a warning look. "Shouldn't suitors to the Prince be in the ballroom, Duchess?"
Olivia let go of Drake's hand. "You are correct Bastien.  Thank you for the timely reminder."
She rolled her eyes and headed back into the ballroom.
Drake let out a long exhale running his hands through his hair. Bastien looked over at him. "Listen, Drake, I know that you and Duchess Olivia have had this thing going on for quite a while." Drake looked up at the ceiling, trying to avoid the reprimand about forbidden relationships. "She's Liam's suitor now. Time to decide what the relationship is and what you two plan to do about it. Secret meetings will only get you burned. " He placed a reassuring hand on Drake's shoulder and walked off to the Royal family.
Olivia walked confidently into the ballroom and straight up to Liam.
"Excuse me, may I have this dance?"
"Of course, Duchess Olivia" Liam smiled and led her onto the dance floor. He took her into his arms and Liam's smile fell as he looked down meeting her green eyes.
"So I noticed that you did not present yourself this evening."
Olivia huffed. "Is that necessary Liam? I'm pretty sure you know who I am."
"Indeed, I do. However, there is a chance you could be chosen at the end of this season, Liv.  And it's not going to look very good if my future queen is secretly meeting with my best friend instead of participating in the activities of the social season." Olivia's eyebrow quirked.
Of course, he would know.
"I'm serious, Liv. I can't choose you if you don't at least try. Plus I heard there may be a surprise suitor brought by Regina."
"Ugh, don't tell me Cuntess Madeline is joining the season." Liam snickered, trying to hold back his laughter. He was unable to speak so only nodded.
"Fine, I'll start participating more," she puffed out air, annoyed.
"Thank you, Liv. But hopefully, it won't be necessary for you to uphold our deal." He grinned ear to ear and his eyes traveled the room landing on Samantha.
Olivia followed his eyes with a smirk.
"I heard about House Beaumont's last-minute addition." She looked at his eyes still locked on Samantha from across the room. "Jesus Liam! Drake was right."
"What?" He shrugged, a blush creeping up his neck.
She shook her head.
"You are definitely smitten, Liam." The dance ended and Olivia whispered in his ear. "Stop staring and go get your girl." She playfully swatted him on his ass as Liam walked away from her, towards Samantha Moretti from New York.

Love Drabble
(Liam x Riley) along with their daughters from this drabble
Tumblr media
A/N Yes, I couldn't stay away from this story. I thought it would be a good time to return to this to show how Liam and Riley are doing along with Charlotte and Hope. Romance is in the air for not just our main couple, but for their daughters too 🥰 On a side note, I started this before Valentine's Day, then writer's block struck in the middle, LOL! Hopefully I can finish up this two to three part miniseries soon.

Cordonia...
"Purple is Hope's favorite color." Charlotte explained. "So I think we should change some of these landscape paintings to highlight the new bedspread and chaise lounge."
Liam watched with a smile upon his face as the servants eagerly began to do as the princess suggested.
He wrapped his arm around his daughter and squeezed her in a side hug.
"Hope's going to love all the ways you are trying to make her first visit here special."
Charlotte bit down on her bottom lip. "I hope she does. I want her to feel at home here."
"So do I." He led her out of the bedroom towards their informal den. "How are the ball preparations coming along?"
"Everything is set." Charlotte scrolled through her tablet for her to-do list. "I went with a red theme since it is so close to Valentine's Day"
"Perfect." He replied. "That should put everyone in a more romantic mood."
Charlotte nearly tripped over that observation.
"Dearest?" He stopped her. "What is wrong?"
"Nothing's truly wrong." She sighed. "I've been so focused on discovering I have a sister that I forgot about choosing a suitor."
"You know I'm not going to pressure you into naming someone." Liam pointed out.
"I know." She slipped her hand in his to gently squeeze. "But the public is anxious for me to do so." Her nose crinkled. "As are some of our nobles."
"I see." He could very well remember all the pressures of that nature. "Perhaps this ball will be the one to eliminate that worry."
Charlotte began to smile. No one could be more optimistic about her uncertain future than her father.
"You come from a long line of Rhys who have found their significant other at a ball." He wrapped his arm around her as they continued down the hallway. "I have no doubt you'll continue that tradition."
*****************
"I'm so nervous." Hope quickly buckled her seatbelt. "I don't know if I'm ready to meet a whole country."
Riley laughed as she buckled her own. "You're not having to meet everyone in Cordonia. Just most of them."
"Not helping, Mom." Hope grumbled.
"Do we have to stay by your side while you greet everyone or can we go on to the palace?" Her best friend, Sean, teased.
"Don't make me regret forcing you to come." Hope playfully pushed him. "If you do, I won't introduce you to my sister."
"Just as I thought." He settled back in the plush leather seat of the private plane. "Already acting like a spoiled princess."
He clucked his tongue in disapproval.
"Ms. Brooks, what are we going to do with Hope?"
Riley studied her daughter for a moment. "Only one thing to do, Sean."
Hope's eyes widened. "No! Please! Not that! Anything but--"
They both began to belt out Don't Worry, Be Happy.
Hope covered her ears to the song she'd always despised.
"Alright!" She yelled out when they got to the chorus. "I'll introduce you to Charlotte!"
"Thank you." Sean's unrepentant grin appeared on his face. "I can't believe I missed all the excitement of a king and princess appearing on your doorstep."
"It was crazy there for a while." Hope motioned towards her mom. "She was speechless for a good ten minutes."
"In my defense," Riley softly smiled over the memory of seeing Liam again, "I'd had a very hard day and was not suspecting to see any former flames of mine."
"Former flames?" Hope chuckled. "I don't think my father really fits in that category anymore."
"Hope." Riley shook her head.
"He calls you, my love." Hope reminded her. "I think he is still in love with you."
Riley tried to dismiss that.
"He did fly all the way to New York for you." Sean added.
"He came to see the child he'd unknowingly fathered." Riley reminded them.
"He came for you first though." Hope argued. "You were the one he went to first to explain everything."
"It doesn't matter." Riley ended the conversation. "He's a king and I'm still that same girl I was twenty years ago who was nowhere near a part of his world."
She closed her eyes and tried to stop her own butterflies in her stomach from fluttering too much. Too much time had gone by for her to begin to hope for another chance with Liam.
He and Charlotte remained in New York over the holidays. For nearly two weeks, she'd had daily contact with the man she'd thought she had gotten over. Seeing him be so open and happy over finding out he now had two daughters made her want to melt.
Deep down, he was still that shy prince who only wished for a family of his own.
Why was he the one man she could fall in love with each time she saw him?
******************
"I have to hurry!" Charlotte held up two dresses. "I don't want their plane to land and not be there to greet them."
Lord Bartie Beaumont sat on the edge of her bed, head tilted in thought over her choice of clothing.
"Maybe you shouldn't go with a dress. How about something a bit more casual?"
She dropped the dresses on her floor and rushed back into her closet.
"I can't wait to meet your sister." Bartie said a bit louder so she could hear him. "After all that Uncle Max told me about Riley, I bet Hope will be just as much fun as her mom."
"She is!" Charlotte responded excitedly. "You're going to love her!"
His dimple grin appeared when she came back out to talk about her sister, forgetting the need for the perfect outfit.
"Lottie?" He interrupted her descriptions of Hope. "Aren't you forgetting something?"
He motioned toward the pile of clothes she'd yet to choose from.
He laughed when she squealed and ran back into her closet to find just the right outfit.
****************
"They're here!" Charlotte nearly bounced in excitement. "Hurry, Father!"
Liam chuckled as he followed his daughter out to the tarmac. He couldn't help but feel excited himself. He'd been just as anxious in welcoming Hope to Cordonia. He was also just as nervous to welcome Riley back.
The time he spent with her in New York was perfect. He loved every moment being with the ladies who held special places in his heart. Seeing his two daughters grow close and his former love embrace Charlotte as a member of her family made him, for the first time in his life, wish he didn't have to return to Cordonia.
He'd wanted to remain in Riley's small apartment forever.
He couldn't stop his imagination from thinking that this is how it would have been. The two of them watching their children enjoy the holidays together, sharing a bond he knew so well. That bond had been what had made his marriage to Madeleine more easy to endure.
Yet, he felt so much more for Riley than his late wife. He always had.
Liam wondered if this could be his chance at the love he'd lost twenty years ago.
**************
"Hope!" Charlotte hurried over and hugged her sister the moment she stepped off the plane.
Hope hugged her just as tight.
The two began to talk over the other, laughing and answering each other's questions.
Liam looked up at Riley standing on the next to the last step of the plane. Her delighted smile over the girls' greeting made his own appear.
He edged his way around them to offer his hand to her.
Riley's fingers fluttered in his hand at the contact.
"How was your flight?" He asked.
"Perfect." She responded. "You didn't have to send a private plane for us."
"Nonsense." He glanced up at the young man who followed after her.
"Oh!" Hope exclaimed. "Sorry. This is my best friend, Sean Yeoh." She waved towards Liam. "That's my dad and this," she kept her arm around Charlotte, "is my sister."
Sean chuckled as he held his hand out towards Liam to shake. "Hope hasn't stopped talking about either of you. I feel like I know you already."
Liam shook his hand with a welcoming smile. "She did the same with you while we were in New York."
Sean turned towards Charlotte to shake her hand and stilled for two heartbeats.
A slight blush covered her cheeks from the way he stared at her as she held her hand out.
"Welcome to Cordonia." She managed to get out.
"Tha--thanks." He stuttered.
Hope only smiled over the way they were reacting to one another.
She'd planned for just this reaction to the two finally meeting.
*****************
"This is my room?"
Hope's jaw dropped over the immense size of her bedroom and bathroom. The closet alone was bigger than her bedroom back home in New York.
"And this is your sitting room."
Charlotte opened a hidden door to reveal a room filled with plush furniture, a large flat screen, and a wall covered with bookcases.
"Holy crap!" Hope exclaimed.
Riley snorted in amusement.
"If you want to change anything," Charlotte said quickly, "please let me know and I will have it done at once."
"Change anything?" Hope's eyes widened. "I wouldn't change a thing! These rooms are gorgeous!"
Charlotte visibly relaxed in hearing her sister gush about how much she loved it.
"Charlotte's been working ever since we returned to make sure you felt at home here." Liam gently placed his arm around Hope's shoulders. "We both want you to feel like you belong here."
Hope hugged him before pulling Charlotte into the hug.
"Thank you." Tears of joy sparkled in her eyes. "Both of you."
"We'll let you get settled." Liam pressed a kiss to the top of her head. "Once you've recovered from the flight, I would like to introduce you to Regina and a few other close friends." His smile was warm. "I managed to keep the other nobles away until the ball, to give you time to adjust."
"Right." Hope paled some. "I'm still not sure how to act as a princess."
"Just be yourself." Charlotte told her.
Liam nodded. "I only want everyone to meet my daughter. Nothing else is expected of you."
Hope tried to smile at that.
"We'll be right by your side the whole time." Charlotte promised.
"And you've got us in your corner too." Sean reminded her.
Riley slipped her hand in her daughter's. "You'll do great."
They all filed out, leaving the new princess alone with her thoughts.
***************
"Charlotte, would you mind showing Sean his room?" Liam asked. "I need to have a word with Riley."
"Of course." She smiled at them both before leading Sean away.
"What's wrong?" Riley asked once they were alone in the hallway.
"Nothing at all." He opened the door to her room, following her inside.
She paused at the sight of the room she'd been given her first visit to Cordonia.
A reminiscent smile graced her lips as she thought back. The flood of emotions swept over her. Excitement over being in a palace and being a suitor for a handsome prince. Delight in making new friends. Hopefulness in a future with the man she'd fallen in love with.
And then sadness when he chose another.
"Riley?" Liam cleared his throat. "There will be a ball while you are here."
"Yes, I heard about that." She turned towards him. "I hope Drake, Hana, and Maxwell will be there."
"They will be." He chuckled. "The moment I told them about Hope, they insisted I allow them to visit you both first."
"Good." She sat down and motioned for him to do the same. "I take it no one has objected to Hope once you received the paternity test results."
"You were right to make me go ahead and have that performed before I left New York." Liam sighed. "I suppose it was naive on my part to assume they would accept Hope without question like I did."
"Perhaps."
Riley felt her heart she had tried to protect from him grow softer with remembering how he didn't see a reason for a test. He'd accepted her explanation without a shadow of a doubt. After all these years, he still believed the best in her.
"Then again," she smiled at him, "perhaps that simply makes you a good man."
"I hope so." He dropped his gaze to his clasped hands. "I have a request."
"You do?"
He nodded. "Would, would you allow me to escort you to the ball?"
Liam's bashfulness flashed making Riley melt even more.
"I'd always wanted to escort you to one when you were last here."
He swallowed a touch nervously.
"Are you sure you can be seen with such a scandalous woman?" Riley halfheartedly teased.
"You aren't a scandalous woman." He argued.
"I am." She pushed out of the chair to stand at the window. "I was caught with another man and managed to have your child." She snorted. "If that isn't scandalous with a capital S then nothing is."
"Riley," he got to his feet, "I know you were innocent with Tariq." He rubbed the back of his neck when she remained silent. "And I am just as guilty for Hope's creation."
When Riley remained silent, he took another step towards her. He wanted to hold her in his arms and take her mind off the past. If he could only redirect her thoughts to the possibilities the future held for them.
Liam instead reached for her hand.
"I won't pressure you into allowing me to be your date for the evening." He lifted her hand to his lips. "But I do hope you allow me the pleasure of your company."
He bowed to her and left.
Riley softly groaned as she sank down onto her bed.
It might as well be twenty-one years ago. She was more than ready to be with Liam as much as he wanted her to.
****************
"Thank you, Charlotte." Sean said. "Er, I mean, your highness." He flushed when she smiled at him. "Your majesty?"
"Just Charlotte." She insisted. "If you need anything, please don't hesitate to call the staff or myself."
She waved towards a phone on his nightstand.
He walked over to it, reading the various extensions to the kitchens, housekeeping, and stables.
"What's your number?" He asked.
Charlotte brushed past him to reach for the notepad and pen.
He stilled at her being so near.
She quickly wrote her number down.
"Here." She looked up at him with a shy smile. "Just in case."
"Just in case." He repeated with a grin, trying to summon his usual confidence around beautiful women.
"I'll see you soon, I hope." Charlotte said on her way out.
"I'll make sure of it." Sean promised.
The moment she shut his door, he collapsed face first on the bed.
"I'll make sure of it?" He groaned into the mattress. "Brain, you failed me again."
**************
An hour later, Hope peeped outside her room. She'd been unable to get ahold of Charlotte. She knew her mom was probably napping. Sean most likely was too since he didn't respond to any of her texts.
Her curiosity over the palace had grown to the point where she didn't think she could wait any longer without doing a bit of exploring.
Once she saw that the coast was clear, she slipped her tennis shoes off and padded silently down the hallway.
Bartie Beaumont was walking past a connecting hallway and saw her creeping further away from where he was, holding her shoes. Grinning, he took his own shoes off and tiptoed quickly until he caught up with her.
Hope didn't notice him behind her as she paused before stepping out in the open area of the second floor. Glancing right and left, she softly huffed over not knowing which way she should go.
Bartie was about to whisper a suggestion when she suddenly threw one of her shoes in the air.
When it landed the toe pointed towards a little to the left. Swiping it back up, she dashed over toward that hallway.
The young lord covered his mouth. Tears of laughter filled his dark brown eyes as he realized she'd used her shoe as a substitute coin. Shaking his head in wonder, he followed her on to see what other mischief she'd get into.
Voices could be heard further down, causing Hope to freeze in uncertainty. She spun around and crashed into Bartie.
Her eyes widened as she looked up at his smiling face.
"Hide me!" She pleaded in a breathless whisper.
He quickly unlocked his bedroom door and shoved her through, closing her in there.
"There you are." His father, Bertrand, grumbled. "Your mother and I were wondering if--why the devil are you not wearing your shoes?!"
Bartie dropped the objects and did his best to appear innocent.
"Your uncle perfected that expression." Bertrand softly groaned. "I don't believe I have the stomach to hear what you've truly been up to."
Savannah laughed, looping her arm through her husband's. "Knowing Bartie, he's probably helping Princess Charlotte entertain her sister."
His dimpled smile appeared. Bartie could always count on his mother believing he was doing something worthwhile. Even if he occasionally, on a regular basis, got up to trouble with the crown princess.
Bertrand merely humphed in response. "Do try and keep the Beaumont name free of ridicule this time."
"Yes, father." Bartie promised.
Once the couple disappeared, he collapsed back against the door in relief.
Bartie tried to catch his balance when his door popped open. With arms flailing he crashed back into his room, landing on a soft, definitely feminine figure.
Hope's muffled cry of surprise turned to a painful laugh.
Bartie quickly rolled off. Worry clouded his features when she flopped her arms weakly over her face. Hope's entire body trembled violently.
"Where are you hurt?" He pleaded. "Did you break or--"
She lowered her arms to reveal how hard she was silently laughing. Unable to hold it in any longer, she released the biggest guffaw Bartie had ever heard.
He joined in, delighted to finally meet a lady able to truly ugly laugh without worry over how it appeared.
He got to his feet and offered his hands to help her stand.
She grasped them with one more giggle and allowed him to pull her upright.
She slid in her socks, crashing against his chest.
Bartie's arms instinctively wrapped around her to keep her standing.
"Thank you." She smiled up at him.
"My pleasure." He smiled back. "I'm Bartie, by the way."
"I'm Hope." She responded.
"I guessed as much." He chuckled. "My uncles were friends with your mom."
"They were?"
"Drake Walker and Maxwell Beaumont." He added. "Given how much they spoke of her, I believe we are destined to be friends too."
"My first friend in Cordonia." Hope said with a great deal of relief. "I can't tell you how grateful I am that you aren't pompous."
She realized she was still in his arms.
Breaking away with a blush, she held her hand out.
Bartie took it. Instead of shaking it like she intended, he swept an elegant bow before her and kissed her hand.
Her lips parted in a delighted surprise.
He winked at her. "Shall I escort you around the palace? Or would you rather continue to sneak about?"
Another giggle escaped her.
"Sneaking is more fun." She pointed out.
"I couldn't agree more."
Bartie kept her hand in his, and tiptoed the two of them further into the castle.

Boston, Massachusetts ...
With multiple acceptance letters in hand, Riley Brooks has to make a decision... Will she continue to follow her high school crush in pursuit of something more, or will she follow the path chosen by her parents... She can't decide which is the right thing for her... On the one hand, her parents are very successful and it would be an adventure in itself allowing for travel and various cultural experiences... Whereas her own desire to become a doctor stemmed from the loss of her Grandma Addie... She always regretted not recognizing the signs that her grandmother was undergoing.
Although aneurysms are sudden, there should have been something that she or someone else could have seen changing about her. She knew how needed she was, not only to her but to her younger sister Dahlia Schuyler. Her life was centered around Dahlia's life, and she was the only person who was able to give the loving care that she deserved. Their parents' careers took them away from both girls, but the younger child was most affected.
When the time came to decide, she knew that attending medical school wouldn't keep her close to Dahlia, but would provide that much-desired opportunity to pursue a relationship with Ethan Ramsey. No pressure of parenting her younger sister in her parents' absence. He had begun to take notice of her in the months prior to their graduation, constantly running into her during college tours.
Tumblr media
She had finally gathered up the courage to approach him, although he wasn't as receptive as she'd hoped. But that all changed on their senior prom night, which they attended together, initiated by Ethan to her surprise. By their graduation, they were on the road to becoming the official college couple pursuing a shared dream of becoming a doctor.
Ethan had started falling deeply for Riley in medical school, but she decided that this was not the path for her... Ethan was fascinated with her excitement about being with him and the dedication she always showed to their relationship but failed to realize that she was drowning. She couldn't quite seem to have the much-needed passion for her studies, and not for lack of trying. Realization set in for her that taking this path only kept her grieving which she hid by throwing her sorrows into displays of affection, and soon she began to lose who she was as a person.
Tumblr media
Yes, she was filling a void for them both, but it was also taking her away from her sister, who had started her own downward spiral. Medical school had become something that she resented, although she was excelling in her classes. She would come to him, tears in her eyes... an acceptance letter in hand, and a travel bag nestled against her leg... It was his first year, and he realized quickly that distractions were not going to be afforded in his life again after this heartache...
He moved off campus immediately, placing an advertisement for a male roommate that was dedicated to long hours of study and could handle their share of responsibilities... It would barely post as a reply chimed...  They would meet later that afternoon at the campus coffee shop, "The Lifeline". Lucky for Ethan, the two hit it off immediately.
Tumblr media
"Hi, I'm Tobias Carrick. We spoke about your ad." It would be just the distraction he needed after losing Riley... The two formed a brotherhood that would push them to continually attempt to top their best performances, a very unhealthy obsession for them both.
Years passed and he was settled into his diagnostics career. Tobias entered the doctor's lounge in search of Ethan to tell him of his transfer to Mass General. It was time for him to stop living under his shadow, and find his own way…
Tumblr media
An argument ensues, and in his anger, Tobias throws his magazine down on the table… that’s when he saw her on the cover. He froze, Tobias none the wiser had mistaken his silence for Ethan’s final word, leaving without any further contact to his dismay, stirring up competition between them yet again out of Tobias’ hurt feelings.
Tumblr media
She had become Queen of Cordonia, and the featured article spoke of a Masquerade Ball in honor of the Queen of Vallenheim hosted by none other than Riley. She was a vision… Even after all this time his heart felt a pang of desire… “She’s your past, Ethan! “ Chastising himself further, he makes his way to Naveen’s office to discuss Tobias’ decision… When he reached for the door handle, he’d managed to misdirect himself, consumed by all that transpired, but prominent of those thoughts was Riley… finding nothing but the cold glass of the gift shop.
In his preoccupation, he never realized that the elevator he entered was going down and not up. Other than that, his autopilot would have correctly navigated him to his destination. But here he stood, gazing at an odd display… a Venetian mask… Why would this be here in the hospital gift shop? Better yet, why did he feel compelled to buy it?  Taking note of the time after completing his browsing of the gift shop, which he has never done in his time of being at Edenbrook, he realizes that he has lost track of time and that Naveen would have already left for the day.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He makes his way home to his lavish penthouse, taking out the ingredients for the therapeutic meal he would now be cooking to center his thoughts… It was either that or more extreme means … His head snaps to the bag containing the mask. He now realizes why he made the purchase… Had he subconsciously decided to attend the ball featured in the magazine? Shaking the thought away, another idea would immediately come to mind. Once the meal was placed in the oven and the timer set, he would take his glass and bottle of wine out to the terrace, searching the view as his mind raced through possibilities… finally becoming settled on a decision.

The time has come! Royal fans and watchers rejoice. Our Crown Princess has welcomed her first child. A change from past royal baby arrivals, the new addition made her public debut a week after her birth. Delvin Palace has released an official statement and a beautiful photo of the two heirs. The announcement is written in part below:
Their Majesties, King Liam & Queen Freya, and the whole Haven Royal Family are proud to welcome our newest princess. Welcome to the world, Her Serene Highness, Princess Odette Zeena Leona Hart Rhys. A bright new light burst into the world, taking our hearts with one sweet cue. Both princesses are healthy, happy, and well and thank you all for your well wishes.
Tumblr media
Wow! What a name. Here's the breakdown for those who may be scratching their heads:
The new little one's first name comes from her Grandmother's - Queen Freya's - middle name. Zeena is a variant of Lady Zenobia's - best friend and godsister of the Crown Princess -name. Leona is a tribute to Prince Leo and Prince Drake; Leo is the twin's middle name. Hart is for Miss Hartley Beaumont, another bestie and godsister.
Tumblr media
The new photos were taken by the Duchess of Harkne, Lady Rayna. The aunt and uncle shared their own congratulatory message with a simple: "Welcome to Parenthood." Prince Max spammed all the posts with emojis from his private social media and the message, "I need more arms to carry all my nieces."
How sweet. Congratulations, Crown Princess, and welcome to our kingdom Princess Odette.

Omg you liked Rules of Engagement? That's so great. The fandom is so harsh on this series, but I loved it. The MC is kinda bland, but harmless, and all the siblings and Violet have very interesting storylines. I know Liam is one your fave LIs, so in this book, we can see Leo (default name, I think? It's been a while since my last replay), his older brother, so I thought it was really cool that he refused to be a king and left to do his own thing. Who did you have the party girl sister end up with? I think she had some of the best LIs and hands down the most growth. The bookish sister's route was my least favorite, but didn't hate or anything like that, and of course the older brother and Elena were sweet. Chaz was hilarious. I could go on and on about these books. I legit teared up on book 3 when they read their grandma's final letter and I loved how we can choose to mend our relationship with Violet. Sorry for the long essay, it's just that no one talks about this series, so it was so great to see you plan to replay it and go for the diamond scenes 😅
I did enjoy ROE even without having diamonds to spare before. I chose to spend them on getting Elena during the couples game because lizards gross me you. And I can tell you, when I was given the opportunity for a Dirty 30 with Leo Rhys, I hit that button so fast. I have a thing for the Rhys men. 😆
My MC chose to marry Leo and they settled in their New England town in Rules: Newlyweds. So whenever Leo shows up in TRR/TRH/TRF, I want to know what’s happening with Katie but I can’t. 😂
For the Party Girl sister, I chose Blake (her boss) and later they set ups catering company (which appears in The Royal Heir). I wasn’t a fan of the Bookish Sister route either. I found her too wish-washy at times but she learns to embrace life eventually.
Cousin Violet was easy to hate but also to misjudge. My MC chose to make amends. Most, almost all, of my MCs in any Choices book will take the high road.
Truthfully, I enjoy a lot of Choices books, including a few of the new ones. But I don’t often talk about them here because I find the fandom’s constant criticism of everything ruins my enjoyment. I’m like that with all my reading (offline too), which is why I’m not one for book clubs generally.
There are so many old books I want to replay as I have 6K+ diamonds. My times been limited lately but I’m planning to make up for that.
