𝐀𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐫
Aegon was a very loyal man, you knew that. So it surprised you when he told you that he wants to marry you, despite him having 2 wives already. But you were in no position to decline your conqueror’s wishes or rather, demands.
It wasn’t bad to be married to him. He was loving and sweet. Sometimes he would raise a hand but you looked past that.
His sisters were skeptical at first but later welcomed you with open arms.
Rhaenys wasn’t the friendliest at first. She feared that you would steal him and his love from her. Later when she met you she got why Aegon would want to marry you.
Visenya liked you the moment Aegon talked about you to her. She couldn’t wait to welcome you into the family.
You didn’t mind that he went from one bed to another, it just was how it was. And he didn’t mind when his sisters went into yours.
He kept you away from common people. He and his sisters were possessive and overprotective. One little rumor of you and Balerion was ready to dracarys them all.
He didn’t let you fight or ride a dragon. You had to be in the castle and always wait for him to return to you.
His biggest desire was you to give him strong and healthy children. Secretly he has always planned to put your son on the Iron Throne and make you THE Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. And no one could stop him, not even his own sisters.
𝐌𝐚𝐞𝐠𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐞𝐥
Maegor as a husband is eternal torture. He is very cruel king, like his name tells. He killed anyone who displeased him, whether it was his own nephew, the builders of the Red Keep or his wives.
You have seen how he has slaughtered his other wives like flies, only because of his suspicions. Of course how could you not when he specifically orders you to watch. Watch what could happen if you disobey him.
Everybody knew you were his favorite, he knew, you knew, his other wives knew, everyone. Maybe it’s the fact that you are the only one who has given him children, and all sons. Maybe it’s the fact how good you feel in bed, after slaughtering some innocent citizens your body is all he desires.
He is abusive mentally, physically and sexually. You sometimes just pray that he would die because of the throne.
Everyone respects you very highly, no other wife of Maegor wouldn’t dare to cross their rank, one word from you and their heads are on spike for everyone to see.
You are known as THE Queen.
You know he loves you, in his own twisted and cruel way, but he cares for you and for your children. Right?
Even if sometimes late at night laying in bed he whispers softly how he would burn his sons alive in front of you if you ever would disobey him like his other whore he just killed a few hours ago.
Why would he care? He can always make new children with you.
𝐀𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐬 𝐈𝐈 𝐓𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐲𝐞𝐧 (𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐝 𝐊𝐢𝐧𝐠)
In his youth he was everything a woman could want from a husband. He was ambitious, charming, smart, gentle and so much more.
He was protective from the beginning, you were gonna be his queen, he always had to have eyes on you. Especially near his hand, Tywin Lannister, who always gave him some kind of paranoia.
But you were loyal to your king and now husband, just like he wanted.
With years and decades he turned more into madness. You didn’t know how to help. Was it because of his father’s death? Or because of his hand, Lord Lannister? Maybe just his paranoia overal?
He was afraid of traitors and the Targaryen dynasty collapsing. He bedded you more and more to have more children to protect the succession and dynasty.
He started to take your freedom and lock you up with your children. He was gone to full madness.
One bad talk about you in the city and he burned them alive with wildfire. You remember the screams, the smell of smoke and chemicals, the smell of burning corpses. You were afraid of him.
You even thought about going to talk with Tywin Lannister but you didn’t want to get yourself or your children in any more trouble.
You suffered in silence with his madness.
𝐄𝐝𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐤
Eddard Stark was the definition of gentleman. He did everything for you and he was never cruel to you.
He knew you needed freedom and gentle love, so he gave it to you. He was never mad at you, rather he blamed others. Whoever dared to disrespect you or your rank as his wife and Lady of Winterfell got their head chopped off. You never saw them again.
He never doubted your love and loyalty, he knew he had given you anything so there is no need.
He could see you in your children’s eyes, especially in Sansa’s.
But you knew he was ready to sacrifice anything for you. His titles, his house, his children, even himself.
He was protective and kinda like a puppy or even slave for you. So you could never imagine him as a mad man who could do horrible things just to keep you.
But of course you can’t read his thoughts in his head, you can’t see the dark glimmers behind his love stuck eyes.
𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐛 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐤
Just like his father, Eddard, he is the definition of gentleman. He did anything to show off and impress you.
You two were like open lovers. Everyone knew you had something going on. The eye contacts, the touches, the sounds late at night in his room gave it all away.
Despite knowing you were loyal and loved him with all your heart he was a little delusional and paranoid. He always feared that one of the other younger lords would steal you away.
Sometimes he even suspected his own ‘half-brother’ Jon Snow. So he tried to hold you away from him as much as possible and always hinted that you were his lover and future wife.
He was never cruel towards you but his ‘enemies’ or competitions got to taste his steel blade.
He always fantasies about you. How you would get married, how you are gonna be as the Lady of Winterfell, you carrying his children and how he's gonna lock you up in the future, only for his eyes to see.
𝐓𝐲𝐰𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫
Tywin never thought he would marry again after his first wife died.
But love is love.
Tywin was very intelligent and very ambitious. He knew how to court a woman and so you fell into the lion’s claws.
He was harsh you have to say. But he never raised his hand against you.
You got along with his children well. Well except one. Jamie and Tyrion welcomed you warmly. They were happy their father found finally someone else to spend his old age with. It was good to see him happy again.
But his daughter Cercei was another matter. She didn’t like you at all. She thought you were just some whore who thinks that you can replace her mother. A slut only here for the money and title. Tywin was so angry that he slapped and threatened her for that. After that Cercei didn’t dare to make any talk about you near you or her father.
He was protective. He wouldn’t let anything harm you. He vowed not to lose another wife. So he kept you behind Casterly Rock walls most of the time.
Only his most trusted servants he let near you because he had many rivals.
He had taught many times about baby trapping so you couldn’t flee and then you would have something to do all day. Also he needs a new heir to the Rock. His eldest son is a knight, his daughter is queen and then twarf. He needed a new son anyway but remembering what happened with Joanna he promised he wouldn’t press the matter. Only if you wanted.
And besides why would you even flee when he gives you everything and anything? You couldn’t step out of the castle even if you wished. Everyone has their eyes on you 24/7.

Green stans: “Aegon remains known as King, and Rhaenyra only as Princess. The greens won.”
Hmm…if my memory serves me right, Maegor remains known as King in histories as well, even though he usurped the rightful heir, his nephew, Aegon the Uncrowned.
And after Jaehaerys I continued the rightful bloodline on the Iron Throne (that of his father, King Aenys), while Maegor’s own bloodline perished (this is what happens to all usurpers’ bloodlines in GRRM’s world), Maegor’s obvious usurpation did not influence the Lords to remove his title as King from histories. This is what happened with Aegon Hightower as well. Except that even though he kept his title as Aegon II, he remains known as Aegon the Usurper.
And although the usurper forced the Lords to recognize Rhaenyra only as Princess in official documentation after her death, she still remains known to this day as the “Half-Year Queen”. So, the nickname confirms that she was a Queen.
The greens won? In what way? Having Aegon the Usurper remain known in the histories as King was not really their goal, was it? They wanted Hightower blood to continue the bloodline on the Iron Throne. That was their motivation. Greed. And they failed.
The Blacks didn’t win? I beg to differ:
1. The Black armies defeated the rest of the green armies after Queen Rhaenyra died. The war was clearly won by the Black armies.
“Yet queen's men had remained, even after the queen herself was dead, and Aegon is reduced to bones and ashes.” (F&B).
2. Rhaenyra succeeded in fulfilling her duty to her House and to the Conqueror’s prophesy, and her bloodline continued on the Iron Throne, as it would have if she had remained alive before the greens’ defeat.
The greens were doomed from the start. The Blacks had more dragons and they had more Houses supporting them. The greens would have lost eventually. The only reason they lasted so long was because the Black armies took a longer time to mobilize for war. Had Rhaenyra heeded her advisors’ council and gone to the Vale instead of Dragonstone, she would have been alive to watch all the greens finally perish, and she would have remained on the Iron Throne, with Aegon the Younger as her heir.
And with the victory of the Black armies and the greens permanently defeated, Aegon the Younger became King Aegon III and continued his mother’s bloodline on the Iron Throne.
I am having fun debunking all the green stans’ “theories”. Keep them coming!

Tyanna was the daughter of a magister of Pentos. She began as a tavern dancer and rose to become a courtesan, although some claimed she was also a poisoner and a sorceress.
When Prince Maegor Targaryen returned from his exile to claim the Iron Throne, the Faith Militant was in near full control. They challenged his rule with a trial of seven, in which Maegor won but was left grievously wounded.
Maegor's second wife, Alys Harroway, returned twenty-eight days later. In her company was Tyanna, rumoured to be both Maegor's and Alys' paramour. After meeting Tyanna, Visenya gave her full care of Maegor; which troubled his supporters.
Awakening from his coma, Maegor burned the Warrior's Sons at the Sept of Remembrance atop the Hill of Rhaenys and waged war on the Faith Militant.
It was after his victory at the Great Fork of the Blackwater that Maegor returned to King's Landing and announced his intention to take Tyanna as wife. When Grand Maester Myros objected, claiming that the only true wife of Maegor's was Ceryse Hightower, Maegor killed him.
Maegor married Tyanna atop the Hill of Rhaenys, and it is said that Alys joined them on their first night of marriage.
Tyanna was mistress of whisperers on her husband's small council and was titled, 'The King's Raven.' It was said that discussing secrets in the Red Keep was foolish, as even rats and other creatures were her spies.
In 44 AC, two years after Maegor returned from exile, Dowager Queen Visenya died. In the confusion after her death, Aenys I's widow, Queen Alyssa Velaryon, fled from Dragonstone with her children and the Targaryen sword, Dark Sister.
Alyssa and Aenys's second son, Prince Viserys had been under Maegor's thumb at the Red Keep. He served as his squire, however, he was punished for his family's escape. Tyanna questioned him. For nine days straight. He died on the last day and his body was left in the town's square.
That same year, Queen Alys gave birth but it was "to a monstrosity." Queen Tyanna convinced Maegor that it was because Alys had been having secret affairs. Maegor did not believe it and called Tyanna a barren, jealous witch.
So, Tyanna gave Maegor a list of twenty men she claimed slept with Alys. This led to the extinction of House Harroway, as well as the torture and execution of dozens of alleged lovers. Tyanna tortured Alys herself. It went on for nearly a fortnight until the queen died.
Tyanna could not give Maegor an heir.
So the King wed three 'Black Brides'; Elinor Costayne, Jeyne Westerling and his niece, Rhaena, three years later.
Tyanna had to force Rhaena to be obedient by threatening her daughters, Aerea and Rhaella. Some stories claim that Tyanna gave Jeyne a fertility potion the night of the wedding but the new bride tossed it into Tyanna's face.
A year later, Queen Jeyne birthed a stillborn 'monstrosity,' and rumours spread that Maegor was cursed.
In his anger, Maegor bid two of his Kingsguard; Ser Owen Bush and Ser Maladon Moore, to bring Tyanna to the dungeons. As the torturers prepared their tools, she confessed.
Tyanna had been responsible for both Alys and Jeyne's 'abominations', claiming she had poisoned the babies in their mother's wombs. She then promised that the same fate would befall the pregnant Elinor.
Tyanna was killed by Maegor himself. He cut out her heart with Blackfure and threw it to his dogs. Two moons later, Elinor did in fact birth a stillborn 'monstrosity.'
That same year, Maegor died on the Iron Throne. His headsman, gaolers and confessors were all condemned by King Jaehaerys I Targaryen for having aided Tyanna in the death of his elder brother, Prince Viserys.
According to some rumours, Tyanna was not loved by her mother-in-law, Queen Visenya Targaryen, or by anyone else for that matter. She is remembered as a black-hearted woman who was hated and feared.

If Jaehaerys was all about minimizing the power of Targaryen daughters but marrying them off to less-than-ideal suitors (love that idea), how do you think that applies to the match of Rhaenys and Corlys? Does it, even? Or does it need to, given expected Rhaenys's station at the time? He says she couldn't have picked a better man.
And, also, do you think this can be applied to Daemon's match with Rhea?
LETS DIG INNNN okay this got so longgggg but i was trying to be fair while also discussing like, so much sex crime-
So like the post said re: Alyssa & Baelon’s marriage, I think there's some interference from Alysanne here. Especially early on in their marriage, before she's made it clear that she can in fact live without his ass, I think we have several cases where he's ~indulging~ Alysanne's more romantic ideas about what ruling should look like and what being a targaryen should be about. Giving her wins that ultimately don’t cost him much (before she starts asking for things he doesn’t approve of).
I think by the time Rhaenys marries Corlys, Jaehaerys has already written her off as a potential heir, but if he denies her marriage to Corlys, that risks not only pissing off Corlys - who imo already has A Whole Thing about being Just As Valyrian As The Targaryens, so he will take offense - but also tips Alysanne off to the fact that he has no intention of letting the crown pass to Rhaenys or her sons. He knows this is a sore spot for her because she insisted that little Daenerys be considered crown princess and heir over Aemon, and Jaehaerys already brushed her off about that. So if he tries to marry Rhaenys off to like, a Tully who already has three heirs or some random Darry, Alysanne is going to argue that Rhaenys deserves a much loftier match given her status, and get really paranoid about why Rhaenys is getting a shitty match. I think he's trying to put off naming Baelon as his/Aemon’s heir for as long as possible because he knows it's going to be a fight, especially given that Alysanne is usually the one in charge of marriages, and this has precedent (that marriages are the Queen's domain - Visenya and Rhaenys made marriage matches as well).
But also. I think (and I can't believe I'm gonna do my man Ned dirty like this) that like Ned (bleh), Jaehaerys learns the "wrong lesson" from his sister. Rhaena married extremely beneath her and that caused major problems for her, so Jaehaerys is making sure that Rhaenys doesn't marry far beneath her as well. Because see, Rhaena spends much of her life miserable, without a direction in life, without even a castle to her name that she can hide out in. Everything that is hers is actually Jaehaerys' and it eats away at her until the day she dies. Beyond that, keeping Rhaena on as a guest is expensive because people want to see her, because she comes with her own household, and because she has a whole ass dragon that needs to be fed. So even if she wanted to live off the goodwill of others, that goodwill runs out quick due to logistics. She only gets Harrenhal because Maegor Towers is sickly and the last of his line, and even then, it's not really hers - it belongs to the crown.
I think Jaehaerys looked at how unhappy she was and what a huge pain in the ass it was, and figures he needs to give Rhaenys a consolation prize in a way he doesn’t need to give to the younger daughters, bc they never had a chance to inherit. Rhaenys has assumed the crown will pass if not to her then to her son, as has Alysanne, and I think its likely Aemon and Jocelyn also assumed that the crown would pass to Rhaenys' eventual son. Jaehaerys can’t just deny her all the trappings of being crown princess/mother to a king and expect her to take it lying down. And to be clear, I do think there’s some emotional aspect to this - I think he did feel guilty over stealing Rhaena’s crown and throne even if he felt he was doing it ~for the good of the realm bc Aegon had died. When Rhaena makes her “you are rhaenys i am visenya i have always known this” comment, she nails the dynamic, but I think Rhaena being the ~rejected bride~ does hurt Jaehaerys - she deserved, in his eyes, to grow old with their brother and have the power of a queen consort. BUT. At the same time, he’s a raging violent misogynist who believes Alysanne is the only exception to her gender, that it is simply right and natural that a woman only derives power from her husband. It’s why Baelon gets to claim Balerion when he’s young, but Alyssa is barred until her wedding. A dragon is a responsibility, a realm is a burden, and in his eyes Alyssa Velaryon, Rhaena, and Visenya all failed to live up to the challenge. So yes, he wants something good for Rhaenys - he wants her to have a happier life than Rhaena did, and he’s willing to gamble just like he did with the Baelon/Alyssa marriage, and indulge Rhaenys and Alysanne in giving her a dragon and a husband who could back her claim because she needs something to keep her calm when he inevitably usurps her, in contrast to the way Rhaena had absolutely nothing to distract her from her misery. And his gamble pays off is the thing - he neutralizes her dragon and her husband bc Corlys is off fighting still when the announcement is made, and Rhaenys is heavily pregnant and probably not really riding Meleys. He figured - bc of his love for Alyssa, Alysanne, and Rhaenys, however goddamn deranged and ultimately meaningless that love is - that he could move the pieces enough to get the outcome he thought was best and he was right!
For Daemon's part, I do think this is part of why Alysanne ships him off to the Vale yes. Notable to me that every marriage match does have a seat of their own, even if it's not an important one, unlike second son Androw Farman - Daella would have gotten the Eyrie, Viserra would have gotten White Harbor, and while none of Saera's matches were lofty they were all heirs with nice enough seats. But Daemon would run into a similar problem where it would be too expensive to keep him around if he marries some random noble lady living with her dad, but if he marries too high up that’s just as bad, so giving him an heiress and then kicking him the fuck out is a good way to deal with him.
BUT. I actually do have a conspiracy theory here that something happened at KL that caused a huge stir within the family and Alysanne dealt with it by shipping Daemon off. What happened? Well...obviously I think Viserys and Daemon got caught fucking lmao, I call myself a Visaemon truther for a reason. I do also think there's a chance that Alysanne suspected Daemon was fucking around with Gael as well - they're only a year apart, they grew up in King’s Landing together, Gael & Alysanne have been back at court a few years, Targaryens love to do that stuff, etc. I’m not saying he IS the father, the timeline is close enough that they could have fucked around but not close enough to have gotten her pregnant - he marries Rhea in 97 and Gael disappears from court in 99. But my other conspiracy about Jaehaerys being the father does kinda fit this too - that Alysanne noticed something was up but suspected the wrong man. I don't think Alysanne would ever want to even entertain the thought that Jaehaerys was raping one of her daughters, even if she realized what he had done to Alysanne herself was rape. Much easier to blame it on/suspect eternal Problem Child Daemon, especially if he's also being groomed by fucking Viserys; he's already an oversexed lecher who seduced gentle, married Viserys away from sweet Aemma, what else isn't he capable of? (and the double tap there of like, hypersexualization of bisexuality + Alysanne’s complete refusal to deal with how unhappy she is with Jaehaerys equals, to me, her constantly punishing her children and grandchildren because she can’t punish Jaehaerys, and proving this point to herself that she couldn’t have been manipulated into marrying him because look, her daughters are marrying the same way as well. And if she suspects even subconsciously that Jaehaerys is raping Gael? And punishes Daemon for ~seducing~ her poor sweet innocent Gael and stealing away Viserys from his sweet innocent wife Aemma? yeah that tracks with how she treats Saera and Viserra).
um tldr i think jaehaerys simply gambled that he could still control the situation when it came to defanging rhaenys, but also knew he couldn’t just give her nothing, if not for sentiment sake, then at least for logistics sake and to avoid a small rebellion, so when rhaenys & alysanne float the match, he can’t say no to it, so he just controls it. and i do think alysanne sent daemon off to the vale in part to defang him as well, yes, in addition to my not insane i’m right conspiracies about exactly what was cookin in king’s landing circa 97-99 ac (it was a lot of sex crimes, that’s what was cookin).

At this point, I just wish certain individuals in this fandom would read the damn text instead of making nonsensical or false claims about Aegon III’s inheritance because Fire and Blood clearly states that he inherited the throne through Rhaenyra.
Despite her name being erased from the line of succession, King Aegon III is listed as Rhaenyra’s heir, not Aegon II’s, and gets his title from her. As stated by the text, “Aegon III, Rhaenyra’s son”.
Similarily, Viserys I is also listed as King Jaehaerys’ grandson and heir, not Prince Baelon’s son, and Jaehaerys himself was listed as Aenys son and heir, not Maegor the Cruel’s, who reigned before him.
The paradox of the Dance is that although Rhaenyra was not recognized as the Queen, they still rely on her name to crown her son by calling him her heir and placing him in the line of succession.
"History doesn't remember blood, it remembers names," and history sure as hell remembered that Aegon III, Viserys II, and every other Targaryen King descended from Rhaenyra Targaryen.

The Dragon Heirs
King Aegon I surrounded by his sons, Prince Aenys and little pre-teen Prince Maegor Targaryen.
I almost like it but I gave up trying to fix it. Maybe I've got to change my shading technique next year. My reference was this fashion plate of 10th century Franks.

A Game of Thrones, Catelyn IV
Visenya’s Hill was crowned by the Great Sept of Baelor with its seven crystal towers.
Across the city on the hill of Rhaenys stood the blackened walls of the Dragonpit, its huge dome collapsing into ruin, its bronze doors closed now for a century.
The Street of the Sisters ran between them, straight as an arrow. The city walls rose in the distance, high and strong.
And above it all, frowning down from Aegon’s high hill, was the Red Keep, seven huge drum-towers crowned with iron ramparts, an immense grim barbican, vaulted halls and covered bridges, barracks and dungeons and granaries, massive curtain walls studded with archer’s nests, all fashioned of pale red stone.
Aegon the Conqueror had commanded it built. His son Maegor the Cruel had seen it completed. Afterward he had taken the heads of every stonemason, woodworker, and builder who had labored on it.
Only the blood of the dragon would ever know the secrets of the fortress the Dragonlords had built, he vowed.
Yet now the banners that flew from its battlements were golden, not black, and where the three-headed dragon had once breathed fire, now pranced the crowned stag of House Baratheon.
