#throwback to meandering around Yufuin, Oita. This little hot spring town reminded me of Boulder, Colorado in how it sits at the foothills of Mt. Yufu and is full of funky little shops and restaurants. Lake Kinrin here seemed to be the center of things. We snacked on this funky dango set with Yuzu, strawberry, Shiro-An bean paste, and Matcha flavors and, later on that day, put away an entire "P-Roll", which is a cake roll made with local water and ingredients. The P-Roll was primo. I just looked that area up. It’s gorgeous! I spotted a picture with a horse drawn carriage, and I had to do a double take. It looked just like a spot where I used to live in Kentucky! That’s so cool! The picture was in Yufuin. The grass was so green, and the sky was so blue. I love that contrast.😌 Now, I want to visit so badly! I’ve never been there! If I get to come, I’ll be listening out for banjolele music... 😜-Southern Belle

Yufuin is beautiful, especially Kinrin Lake. I haven’t been there just to chill in ages--It’s about an hour or so from my agency. It’s always nice to patrol there early in the mornings, just before the crack of dawn. There’s lots of mist and fog and it swirls all around when I fly through it. I can’t see myself recommending one specific spot though, the whole island is worth seeing.
