Started with a morning walk around Lake Kinrin a place of scenic beauty representative of the town of Yufuin. It’s a small lake with a perimeter of about 400 meters. With all the water gushing out from the bottom of the lake and mountains the lake is replaced 2 and a half times a day. #throwback to meandering around Yufuin, Oita. This little hot spring town reminded me of Boulder, Colorado in how it sits at the foothills of Mt. Yufu and is full of funky little shops and restaurants. Lake Kinrin here seemed to be the center of things. We snacked on this funky dango set with Yuzu, strawberry, Shiro-An bean paste, and Matcha flavors and, later on that day, put away an entire "P-Roll", which is a cake roll made with local water and ingredients. The P-Roll was primo.
