Remember the big collab we've done last year over at Far-Flung Starlight Heroes server? Well, this year we're doing it again!!! And guess what?

You are encouraged to participate too!

What is required from me?

Not much - just pick a single character from Kirby's canon and draw them celebrating Kirby's birthday! The theme this year is "photographs": everyone at Kirby's birthday party are taking a BIIIIIIG group photo with him, and we're trying to make this (probably) the biggest group photo of all Kirby's friends (and some enemies)!

The only thing I ask is that you don't take characters that have already been claimed. I'm intending this to work on "no dupes" and "first come first serve" basis, but I do believe there's a plenty of friendly faces to pick from!

Can I pick multiple characters?

Yes, you can! In fact, there's more than just a drawing of a single character that you can add: the end goal is to make it into a scrapbook-worth page, so any and all decorations, birthday wishes or additional party photos with your chosen characters are welcome!

Keep in mind, however, that additional characters (if they're separate from your main character) and any extra elements are optional. You're more than welcome to pick them, but only if you're sure you can make it all before deadline.

Are the characters from anime/novels/manga allowed?

Yes, they are! I may have to ask for the character's origin if I'm not familiar with them (ESPECIALLY if it's a novel original, I have not read all of them), but you're free to pick as well known or obscure as you'd like. (I know some people on the server are very interested in adding GSA members to the photo...)

Deadline? What's the deadline?

The deadline for submitting your drawings is April 25th. (You can get in some last-second additions up till April 27th, as I'm free that day, but I will be very nervous.)

There's no deadline for signing up, however, so as long as you're ABSOLUTELY SURE you can whip up something good in a matter of couple of hours, you may add your character up till the dawn of last day, haha! (You will sure give me a surprise with that one.)

Okay, but what if all the characters I know/want are already picked?

I know, with FCFS and how many of characters are beloved, this is bound to happen. Not to worry tho!

I have compiled a list of notable characters in the series with references of where they're from and if they have or have not been claimed. You can easily see, which ones are still up for grabs!

If nothing really catches your eye, you can always try and discuss with people who have taken additional characters to see if they're willing to give away, trade or even collab with you to make your characters interact on the group photo! (Trust me, most of the time they will cooperate, so don't hesitate to reach out!

(Keep in mind, however, that the list ISN'T a strict directive on which characters are allowed or needed to be taken. If you have someone on your mind that I've neglected to put in, you're more than welcome to pick them!)

Alright, I'm in. How do I send my submissions?

Simple! I'm working via Google Sheets this time (mostly bc I don't know how Google Forms work and also so people more easily see which characters are taken), so all you need to do is to check out this little handy-dandy link:

On the first sheet you'll see, there's more information on this collab and requirements, and also a list of people who'd already signed up!

To properly sign up, you'd need to list:

Your nickname (so I'd know how to address to you)

Your Discord username (for communication)

Your Tumblr and/or Bluesky username (for crediting once the finished collab is posted, if you don't have either, Twitter/Instagram/other social media of choice is also fine, just know that the result will be posted only on Twitter and Bluesky)

The character(s) of your choosing (to properly claim them)

Rough placement on the canvas (for me to figure out where to put you, maybe you want your character to hold Kirby, or high-five someone else, or discreetly put up horns to someone when they're not looking!)

Submission download link (for me to download your finished submission and add it to the canvas)

Notes (anything you'd think I'd like/need to know about your choice!)

I'm working in Clip Studio Paint, so if you do to, the easiest option would be to upload your cleaned up and flattened work as .clip file. If your art program of choice is different (like Krita, IbisPaint or PaintTool SAI, for example), you can export your work as either .psd or transparent .png. Where to upload your submission is up to you, Google Drive works in a pinch tho.

But wait! How will people know I've participated in this??

That's exactly what I need your usernames for! As I'm posting this on Tumblr mainly, I'm going to @ you as a method of crediting your submissions (specifically pointing out which part you worked on!). After the finished work is posted, you're free to post your individual submissions - either as a reblog of collab or separate post.

Big Birthday Update

It’s my birthday tomorrow! Yay! I’ve been meaning to give you guys an update on how things have been going on my end, and since my age is about to go up another number, now’s as good a time as any. At the start of the year I made I think 6 or so New Year’s Resolutions, so I wanna cover those. from most important to least important. -Finish Brawl Minus 4.3 I’m putting this one out of my personal projects first because I feel like people are counting on me for this and anticipating this the most. I’ve been out an SD card reader for a while and am getting myself a new one for my birthday, so I’ll be able to get back to Wii testing, which will help us with Subspace fixes now that we have a lead on it. Also trying to figure out more costumes to include, but besides those there are plenty of other major hurdles that keep us from release. It’s still 2019, but I’m going to focus on this one more actively rather than re-animates and Smash videos like I’ve been doing. I can’t just keep this waiting forever. -Johou Battle Getting it finished this year is pretty unlikely. It’s in the same rut it’s been in since October, that being the replay system being coded. So long as there’s no replay system I can’t really get good bugfixes going, which is keeping the game in limbo for longer. Commissioning a replay system is more often than not out of my price range, so I’m stuck still. I have other stuff to focus on in the meantime, but in my free time I will be seeking solutions. Maybe if I find even better work I can afford the commission. Here’s hoping. -Smash Ultimate meme videos This one isn’t a resolution, but I’ve been thinking about this one so I’m gonna talk about them anyways. I’m probably gonna stop making these, or at least the full length videos. It was fun and it lasted longer than my silly Smash 4 attempt thanks to Ultimate’s in-game ability to record replays as .mp4s. I still have a lot of clips from a planned Joker video, and I will be posting those on my twitter. I’m pretty proud of the End of 2.0 one so I think it’s a good note to end those on. Maybe I’ll pick it up again in the future, but for now I’m gonna take a break from these. -ReAnimated Collabs I picked up a good amount of these purely out of spite of the Kirby one. I made 4 parts so far, and will continue to work on these as animation exercises monthly (outside the Summer months as I will be focusing on Clock Day then). I’ll let you guys know which ones I’m in as they come out, and I can’t wait to show you all them! Now for the personal stuff -Find a job with better income I can actually mark this one as done: I started Substitute Teaching back in January, and now make more a day than I ever have. Problem is it’s only $100, and that’s not really enough. It’s still a step forward and lets me be more aggressive on my loans though. I went to my school for advice but they still as of yet haven’t given me feedback on my resume. -Keep Losing Weight! Started the year at 187, am currently 172. 15 pound loss, just gotta keep going! -Reach 202 Twitter Followers Currently at 130. If you don’t follow me on twitter now, you can find me here! -Vidya Backlog hitting 0 again Yakuza 0 and Smash kept it from going down for quite a while, but I beat Yakuza so I can at least progress again on other games (at least until I get to Yakuza Kiwami, but I digress). I’m currently playing through DMC3, and it’s a blast so far! Honestly I wish there was more of me, there’s so much stuff I want to do but only one of me to cover it! I’m also interested in things like re-animating Agents of K. Corporation and other projects, but I gotta focus on what’s on my own plate first while also aiming to make enough money to survive. (!?) Blog’s Context: Post Planet Robobot. Haltmann’s Company doesn’t exist anymore and it seems that there existed some data backup for Dark Matter Clone who isn’t totally aware about all the events. So they just stays in Dream Land waiting for nothing to happen… Take it as an permanent vacations for them.  So they now have a lot of time to learn to socialice and respond your questions, people.

Name: Dark Matter Clone. Species: Clone (Dark Matter) Game: Kirby Planet Robobot. Age: Was born during the game itself. Gender: Either Male or Genderless are ok. (They/them ; He/him pronoun.) (While the mun thinks about the clone as a he, there is not confirmed gender, so you can refer to Dark Matter by pronouns they/them!) In-game events: Dark Matter Clone was created by Star Dream from a sample of one of the most powerful warriors found in Dreamland. They were used as a part of the Sword Master program, to prove the new admin’s abilities. About the blog’s characterization: (!?)Dark Matter Clone doesn’t know much about the world outside Access Ark. Much less the story behind the sample were they were cloned from, so They’re kinda naive about certain things. (!?)Dark Matter’s nature is to be a brute and probably kind of mean and a total edgelord at first… But who knows, maybe they just needs some friends? So go ahead. (!?)They’re very curious, teach this Dark Clone something new! (!?)For some reason they’re OK with wielding the Rainbow Sword, probably an analysis error from Star Dream. (!?)Is a little repelled by Meta Knight for defeating them, but still thinks that’s he’s the new admin. (!?)Can be a little touchy about the whole clone thing. Identity crisis and all that. (!?)Just like happens with the failed Dedede clones (“certains insect fear”), they may retain some very blurry memories from the original Dark Matter, in this case, what the Dark Matter specie was and how hierarchy works. (Also the constant feel of loneliness). Still they don’t recognize them very well.

Post Meta Knightmare Returns from Planet Robobot. (But Dark Matter Clone is alive by tumblr magic ? ) So obviously, Meta Knightmare Returns is canon for this blog! Al least the fact that the clones where created! Mostly Game Verse, but Anime Verse is ok, Mun is on date with both. (And the muse knows very little about both OTL)

Dear Fans,

August has been a busy month of all things that bring me joy. Meetings and collabs for art, feminism, and friendship. Cool things that have come to fruition this month on my end:

1. Zinefest! Two weeks ago it was Long Beach ZInefest and tomorrow is OC Zinefest. The book Magic Glasses did so well and I am glad I could share that success with writer Melina Chavarria. Tomorrow we tackle again another exciting day of providing fun comic literature along with other Plot Twist Publications.

2. Kirby Art Show! Helping make a fun, feminist piece with a small dick joke for the art show auction of Sue Storm. All proceeds to go into the Hero Initiative: Helping Comic Creators in Need.

3. Kapow! Poetry and Art Zine! Working with Jeff Grindley and his poets, we’ve woven together all my illustrator friends (mostly women!) to compile work in homage to the first Kapow that was based out of LV! Poetry night to come in the upcoming months...

4. GRRLS movie night. The dream come true to watch and share SHE MAKES COMICS for women of all ages in our valley, along with music and spoken word! I cannot wait for women to know how badass and how large of an impact they have affected the popularity of comics today!

5. Underwear Drive! Doing a fun art design for a underwear drive to get donations for homeless people who are in dire need for undergarments, especially their children.

6. Wedding & Beard Anniversary: Bubble baths and buffets with my fav beard. Here’s to 4 years with my babe.

7. Plot Twist Publishing coloring month! We are on our next step of providing our first full collaboration project in color. I am just so grateful to be surrounded by creative people that are helping usher this vision.

So I am basically a tornado. But in September after Long Beach Comic Con, my 30th Birthday, and teaching Comics and Writer’s Block, I can resume to some kind of normalcy. So if I say no to potentially hanging out, I am just obviously recharging my super human batteries.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRBY!!!

It is currently 1:03 AM at my end on April 27th, and I'm just done with rendering this beast, so I feel I can unveil this project that took over a span of 3 weeks on Far-Flung Starlight Heroes server - this collab!

The idea of this collab was simple - every participant picks a character from the series and draws them onto a rough placement sketch, while I afterwards put all of them together onto a single canvas. Kirby and banner were there since the start and were open for interaction.

No one suspected I would do an entire background for it >:3c
