The Unseelie woman smiled widely, inclining her head at him as the men begged for their lives still, his small form quivering beneath her strange gaze as he struggled to hold his ground.

"You would receive it willingly? Truly?"

Comment: A gorgeous Fairytale AU that takes on the Beauty and the Beast story and gives it an interesting twist.

Everybody’s Walkin’ the Dog by Camelittle (16k, T)

They've been flatmates forever, and friends for even longer than that, so it seems like the most natural thing in the world for Arthur and Merlin to get a puppy together. But what happens to the puppy when they are both away? Arthur doesn’t trust the (devilishly handsome) new dog walker. At all. And Merlin’s not too keen on the (ravishingly beautiful) replacement that Arthur finds, either. Jealousy, pining, and misunderstandings ensue.

Comment: Adorable puppy!Aithusa. Adorable. Puppy. Aithusa. That is all. Seriously, though, this is a great, humorous read with a nice side of pining roommates.

Comment: Modern Royalty and a sick, slightly grumpy and overworked Arthur? Yes please!

Arthur's a cat. Well, no, Merlin has a cat called Kitty. But, then, well, there's some accidental magic, and kitty is demanding and big and chooses a name and is generally a nuissance.

Comment: I know I just recommended this fic in another space, so I apologize if it seems like a repeat, but it NEEDS TO BE READ. The author takes the turned-into-an-animal trope and makes it one of the most interesting and beautiful discussions of relationships that I’ve ever seen.

Yuri!!! on Ice

Welcome to Detroit Dental by stanzas (12k, T)

Victor stops the car, turns off the engine, and Yuri rolls out the car with the attitude of every slightly inconvenienced teenager. Yuri flips his shades up, stares in disbelief at the sign in front of the well-manicured lawn squished between two old barber shops: DETROIT DENTAL AND ORTHODONTICS.

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me,” he says.

Or: Victor has a crush on his favorite shy, attractive dentist, and Yuri suffers.

Comment: This fic is just as hilarious and adorable as it sounds. The author does a great job of dipping into a bit of the serious side of Viktor’s character as well... It’s really an excellent balance.

Yuuri skips the Sochi banquet. Minako tries her hand at coaching. Victor stays in Russia (at first, anyway).

Or: The pining pen pals AU no one asked for.

Comment: A really lovely epistolary-ish fic where Viktor and Yuuri get to know each other in a completely different space than in canon. I really like the direction that the author took with this, and it’s really adorable to watch them grow closer as they communicate more.

No Less Unthinkable by rageprufrock (80k, E)

In which Katsuki Yuuri fights a losing battle with chronic anxiety, the quadruple Salchow, and his own judgment four drinks in — but wins the war.

Comment: I mean, I guess you can just take a look at the author and know it will be good? This fic is hot and angsty and a really beautiful examination of anxiety and sexuality, I couldn’t put it down (does that phrase even work for things that aren’t books?).

The Suffering of Potya by kiaronna (3k, T)

At first, Potya believes he’s going to the veterinarian. This means a great deal of cursing from Yuri, as he tries to unsuccessfully lure Potya into the pet carrier. But as in all things, his human wins, and Yuri stalks out the door with carrier in hand, only twenty minutes late. Potya accepts his fate.

Soon, he realizes greater horrors are in store for him: Yuri’s dropped him off with the dopey poodle couple, the snuggly and curly bastards.

Comment: This is just super cute and just on the right side of crack-y. 

Once You Go Greek by DefiantDreams (40k, M)

Here are three things Viktor Nikiforov's learned as a brother of Mu Sigma Delta: 1) Go for what you want. 2) Make use of what you have. 3) Everyone in Alpha Kappa Omega is an asshole.And then he meets Yuuri Katsuki. The more he gets to know Yuuri, the more Viktor finds that he's no longer sure what he wants anymore and that might make him lose the best thing he's ever had.

Or: A fraternity fic wherein Yuuri and Viktor are in rival frats, but they fall in love anyway.

Comment: It’s basically Romeo and Juliet, but with frats. I don’t know much (read: anything) about Greek systems, but this was such a fun read.
