Anyway, you’re right, and honestly I think that Kanto being overplayed is often more just...Red, Blue, and Giovanni.  The majority of the region goes unrecognized a lot of the time.  It’s kinda like Fire Emblem 7 (Blazing Blade) in that way.  People have this idea that it’s all stupid popular and overplayed as the first game in the west, but most of the attention is literally just on the lords.  No one talks about the background cast that much.  So yeah, I’ll cover them.  I don’t even mind them.  There is one I mind.  There is one I desperately don’t want to do.  But I’ll do it.  Against my will, I will talk about Klara.

Within the pokemon fandom I adore Klara and Shauntal, but outside of the fandom I’d honestly love to rp as Paya from BOTW because she’s such a sweet bean and I just love her character! I’d also love to do Tamaki from Fire Force cause she’s so adorable and fun and tbh I think would be an interesting character to write as! There’s also like a million and one characters I would love to write as from the Fire Emblem series! And tbh so many more haha xD but these are the biggest ones I’d love to pick up!

Things might have eventually returned to normal, had it not been for Avery. While the other mothers and children gave Lady Klara a respectful distance to mourn in peace, he seemed incapable of leaving the poor woman alone. He followed her around the manor, alternately needling her with questions about her lost child and singing his dreadful song about the slugs and bugs. Whenever she noticed he was not with her, Lady Adelheid would come running with profuse apologies for Lady Klara and half-hearted scoldings for her son, and drag him away while he continued to ask where Bertie was, if she had seen him, and when he was coming back.

Then he, too, disappeared one morning.

Freed of her tormentor, Lady Klara seemed to brighten considerably. She emerged from her chambers clear-eyed and well-rested, greeted Lady Adelheid smilingly, as though all was forgiven, glided through the house arm in arm with Lady Isolde, laughing with her quietly, and even visited the kitchens to make arrangements for dinner. The other mothers regarded her carefully; the popular assumption was that grief had sent her around the bend, but they told her they were glad to see her looking well.

Lady Adelheid and Lady Lynnette wandered the grounds and the hedge maze, calling for the missing boy, but he did not reappear. No one mentioned the bog.

Man I love chitose, but I’m kind of already tired of the knee jerk reaction to him being “my trans baby uwu” I don’t hate the idea of chitose being trans, I hate the fact that people’s immediate reaction to a male character being cutesy and having pronounced pink colors immediately meaning he’s trans. It feels kind of.... fetishistic? I guess? A boy being cute or wearing a dress doesn’t automatically translate to being trans. Idk maybe I’m an ass for thinking this but it rubs me the wrong way.

I felt like this when people were talking about Avery (Pokemon SWSH) and Yuri (Fire Emblem Three Houses) because everyone would jump to call them nonbinary or use they/them for them… and no one else. I didn’t see a crumb of people using anything but She/Her for Klara (SWSH), nothing but she/her Hapi, she/her Constance, or he/him Balthus (FE3H), yanno what i’m sayin?

…and it really made me feel strange because its like… Certain people REALLY DO only view nonbinary people under this standard of “Androgynous prettyboy”. I’m nonbinary myself (if ya wanna be more specific for me, i guess you’d say genderfluid? She/They) and seeing everyone jump on the “Obvious” choice for a character to call nonbinary felt kinda :///??? 

Like, I know I don’t fit this mold of ‘androgynous prettyboy’. Honestly I’m just standin here, literally nothin’ hgnkgg, but it just feels strange whenever things like this happen. Like, why didn’t yall jump and call Hapi nonbinary? One of my friends was literally like “Hapi looks like a chararacter who’d say ‘no binary, gender empty’ ” and im like.. BIG AGREE.

So in the case of Chitose, which I’m about to relate to Forest from FE14 bc I cant shut up about FE it seems, it feels the same. Like people will primarily only call the most “Obvious/Standard/If-I-had-to-pick-one” option as someone trans. A dude who presents in a typically feminine fashion.

And of COURSE I don’t mind the idea of any of these characters being trans or nonbinary, I’d fuckin’ love it if they canonically were bc i really do be starvin’ for rep from official companies!!! …but they don’t have the damn guts.

Sooo basically, I agree with your stance on not liking the “obvious” choices ALWAYS being claimed as certain labels without anyone trying to look at less “obvious” characters who could be nonbinary/trans/etc, but I’m not the type who’s gonna sit here n’ hate if the fandom interprets them as such. I’ve got my interpretations, others have theirs. It really do be like that.
