tbh i wish it were more socially acceptable to be doing things while having a conversation

like i pretty much always absolutely hate making eye contact, it feels super uncomfortable, unpleasant and invasive unless it’s like my mom or one of my close friends, and even then maintaining eye contact is something I have to actively remember and choose to do

talking to random people also stresses me out a lot even without having to do all this eye contact bullshit

so like obvious solution- kntting

knitting is super relaxing for me and if it’s a simple pattern that doesn’t require any concentration, it lets me focus much much easier if I’m stressed out

for obvs reasons, not making eye contact and knitting are seen as me ‘not paying attention’ or ‘not taking this conversation seriously’ when in fact its the complete opposite

i dunno, i just wish our behaviour in public was less rigid about these sorts of things, since i can’t be the only person with this sort of situation
