#p4#persona 4#p4g#persona 4 golden#hanamura yosuke#yosuke hanamura#there's something really interesting here#when those annoying girls were badmouthing yosuke or saki#yosuke kept quiet for the most part because he still has to play the part of the good boy#it's something that he's said before - because of his family's reputation and his dad's position yosuke has to keep his head down#not make any waves dont fight back even when he's being bullied or harrassed (tacks in his shoes and nasty notes and all that)#it kind of reminded me of konishi naoki's position as well - regardless of how naoki felt or his frustrations with his neighbours#naoki couldn't say anything because it would jeopardize his/his family's reputation#in this instance though#yu is the trigger that causes yosuke to actually speak up and retalisate - it's only when they start criticising yu that yosuke shouts back#on the one hand there's a very souyo-esque reading here - that yu is the one that yosuke places above not just saki but also himself#that when yu is attacked yosuke jumps to his defence#but at the same time even without that it also speaks to how yu functions as a catalyst for yosuke being more honest with himself#yosuke holding back and playing his role is a reflection of him being unfaithful to what he wants to say or feel#furthermore yosuke has always been a very emotional character - he's sensitive and he's terrified of his own sensitivity#mitsuru talks about how yosuke regards his own emotional sensitivity as a weakness but it's not#but it's very much apparent here - yosuke puts up a strong front and outwardly denies everything#i think it's a combination of playing up that ideal masculine image of stoicism and denying himself which can't be easily untangled#and so when his emotions do spill out - like they did here - it spills out like a torrent that doesn't know how to stop#he's good with his queue
