I actually like EXO SC's music more than EXO CBX, but I think it's because of the vibe being less bubblegum sweet and I can tell Chanyeol put a lot of work into it himself. I think that's why I also love Suho's solo work too. Saying that, I really hope both subunits release something new this year or maybe even early next year.

honestly i will take as many exo comebacks as i can get this year but realistically it's already a lot when you think abt it cause like well, first and foremost, we got the group comeback cooking and that better take priority as soon as next month rolls around, i hope to god that that's what everyone will be focused on cause i am at my limit i can barely hang on and i need my exos. also loey has been working on his solo debut so hopefully that's gonna happen sometime this year, both jongin's and ksoo's albums have been in the works as well so surely these will come out shortly, especially jongin's album i feel like is gonna be announced next month if not this one. and, to my knowledge, sm doesn't like to overlap promotion periods so like everything as to happen in succession, which is good cause it gives them a little more room to breathe but then they also seem kinda eager to reboot superm over there so like baekhyun and jongin are gonna have to dedicate time to that so i feel like that's already the first half of the year covered... honestly maybe we can hope for a summer sechan comeback i mean that is their season after all, i'm not too worried abt cbx now that bbh is finally gonna be relieved of his civic functions but i can't imagine that's gonna happen before the last quarter of the year but we'll see ^^

Standing in front of your mirror, you pulled at your floral skirt. This was at least the 10th set of clothes you’ve tried but you still felt awkward and unsatisfied with it.

Today was D-day, the day of kyungsoo’s competition and you wanted to look your best because you have already imagined the winning scenario many times. You giggled, heart fluttering.

You looked up at your wall clock, you were going to run late if this keeps up. You looked into your wardrobe one more time and decided it would be overalls for today.

Changing again, you didn’t even have time to put proper make up. Lipstick and brows was all you could manage. In a rush you patted some blusher on which by mistake turned you into a red lobster.

You panicked but there was simply no time to salvage it and out of the house you went.

When you arrived, the competition had already started. A make shift stage was set up by the streets with tentage and chairs. You spotted woohyun who had arrived before you and quickly took your seat beside him.

From your shopper bag you pulled out a black board

‘Ya y/n what the hell is this? And is it that hot that your cheeks are so red?’

You touched your face self consciously, but okay that’s not what’s important now

‘Woohyun ah, we need to show our support for kyungsoo! I spent all night doing it, see it writes do kyungsoo youre the best ’

Passing him the first board, you pulled another one from your bag again

Shooting you a revolting face woohyun lowered his voice and spoke through his teeth

Punching woohyun for being such a traitor that cares more about his pride than his friend, you decided to hold both boards up yourself.

To prepare for this competition, Kyungsoo went to the jam studio almost daily. It wasn’t like the band has practice everyday, it was kyungsoo who just wanted to practice as much as he can.

One would think you would at least have heard him once through the past few months, but you weren’t even close to hearing him sing a clear syllable.

When he went on his own, you always asked for him to let you in to hear him sing, but he just wouldn’t. He would push you out of the room and lock it. Sometimes on your way to school you would poke at him and ask him to sing too, but he downright did not want to sing for you and told you you could hear it during the competition.

The only times you heard was when you secretly waited outside the jam band club room that has walls so thick you could only hear his suppressed and muffled voice. You only knew one thing for sure, it was an English song he was preparing, because you didn’t understand a single thing.

Up next was kyungsoo’s turn, the emcee gave an enthusiastic introduction of Kyungsoo

‘...without further ado, let us welcome Do Kyungsoo Ssi who will be bringing Just The Way You Are by Bruno Mars!’

You raised your boards and cheered at the top of your lungs, while the rest of the audience clapped as Kyungsoo entered the stage.

‘Ya y/n I can’t even see Kyungsoo like this!’ Equally excited to see the performance, woohyun irritatedly took the board blocking his view for himself instead.

You were bubbling with excitement and were a stomach of nerves as you waited to hear Kyungsoo sing for the first time, the song he probably spent days and nights practicing the past few months.

The backtrack played through the speakers and kyungsoo’s voice followed shortly.

A captivating 3 minutes came and passed like that, how you wish you could record that beautiful voice of his and hit it on replay anytime.

At the end of the song, you stood up clapping and shouting your cheers for kyungsoo.

‘Ya ya, sit down! Everyone’s looking at you’ Woohyun covered his face and pulled you back down to your seat.

‘Didn’t he sing really well!! Woori kyungsoo is bound to win this!’

After another half an hour of suffering under the wrath of the weather,listening to other contestants that can’t hold a candle to Kyungsoo, the moment of judgment was finally here.

The list of winners came to the hands of the emcee. And as if it was a dream the emcee announced ‘and our winner is do kyungsoo!’

You screamed and clapped wildly until the emcee finished off with his closing speech for the competition.

As soon as kyungsoo got off the stage, you ran towards kyungsoo ready to embrace him in a hug, ready to hear him thank you for the support board you made and last of all to take a sweet picture together.

'KYUNGSOO! CHUKAHAE!!' Opening your arms you yelled

Seeing you approach him, kyungsoo laughed but dodged your hug

'Ya, gomawo. But don't hug me' He wore a smile as bright as the sun, but pushed your hands away.

'kyungsoo ah, chukahae. you sang so well, you could totally be a singer already. i'll be bragging wherever i go about you, just incase you really become famous and deny knowing me' woohyun joked and gave kyungsoo a punch on his shoulder

'thanks for coming today! have you guys eaten? want to grab a meal together?' you could tell kyungsoo was on cloud nine about his win

'sure! fried chicken?' you eagerly agreed

'ah, i actually got to go for my training now, can't join the both of you.' woohyun sighed

'i'll get going first, see you guys back in school' and he bade goodbye to you guys

On the way to the restaurant you went on and on about how nice he sounded until he suddenly stopped you to ask

'y/n ah, whats the thing you were holding earlier when i was singing? i wore my specs today but i really couldn't tell what you were holding'

'HUH? WHAT? IT'S A BOARD I MADE TO SUPPORT YOU!' Bewildered that he didn't see it even with his specs, you quickly pulled out the boards you made.

Then kyungsoo burst into laughter and gave you a flick on your head

'you held it upside down, no wonder i couldn't tell'

You stopped in your tracks and almost dropped the boards; feeling embarrassed and annoyed altogether at yourself that your efforts had gone to waste.

The coming July 1st is going to be a real test and would cause mass head/heart/soulaches. Every little detail of that day would be scrutinised. The way some of our fandom is currently high upon reacting to this, I feel that even simple breathing by members would be theorised on that day.

Full June would be a mess on that bird app. That mess would contain demanding ksoo's solo project before enlistment, constantly increasing hate being thrown on SM (which kinda deserves) if no solo project is released soon or at ALL. More the delay in any solo, more bad mouthing against agency, ksoo and other members could be seen, as if calling ksoo selfish, jmyeon a liar are not enough already. I am dreading the negativity but I strongly HOPE that I am wrong.

The way that agency handles things regarding ksoo is so annoyingly shady. Leaving rumour, delaying concert, sudden enlistment, BAEKSANG absence (wtf?), never giving him a proper solo (his voice has been multiple times acknowledged as a top favourite ffs)... frustrating.

I could have never imagined that I would be rather sad when they announce the new concert....

It's not that I am hating his decision of enlistment or the concert. Hell I am so proud him that he is doing his duty as a responsible man and other members are finally getting a proper schedule. But the way that agency handled (rather f*cked up in my eyes) the entire EXO's work timeline straight from the DMUMT comeback is downright STUPID.

Successful AND deserving artists never deserve sh*t like this...

Everyone would be observing how members would behave on that day..esp Ji. How things would go during June and on July 1st would majorly HINT what's up with ksoo, members and agency...

I believe that this enlistment has hardly anything to do with kd but what ji would do in the coming time... that will only decide if kd is really related to the issue or not.

What is even the point of that. If it does good all the hype will be squashed cuz he has to leave. Putting all this work for nothing. It should have been after he comes back.

I don't think going to the military secures a soon cuz xm didnt get one either. I think it's sm piss poor planning with them. But it's weird that they would give jm a solo before ksoo since ksoo's much more popular. so this’s sort of a non-review of the recent exo comeback

Album

01 Tempo  It has an interesting mix of genres but I’m not sure if I like it or not. Sometimes I listen to it and think “it’s too produced” but other times I’m fine with it as it is. The chorus is so catchy but once you hear the bed squeaking, you can’t unhear it and it became all i can hear smh I was really surprised by CY & SH, the rapline stepped up their game esp SH. He is the center of this song. 

02 Sign  so good, so fuckin good esp the “molah, keman” part

03 닿은 순간 (Ooh La La La)   oh, my! now that’s what i like. so chill, so seductive. Everything sounds much coherent than the title track. All of their parts are clear & isn’t overpowered by the background music. out of all the songs’ rap parts, this one fits the best with the song’s flow. minseok’s part at the end was the perfect final.

04 Gravity   I don’t like it.

05 가끔 (With You)   chen’s & jongin’s voices sound gorgeous in this one but I don’t think I’ll be listening to it again. I don’t feel like it suits the album. someone commented that it sounds like “a christmas song” and I hate christmas music so maybe that’s why lmoa.

06 24/7   hooked from the first seconds!

07 후폭풍 (Bad Dream)  not bad lol but I won’t give it a 2nd listen.

08 Damage  I love how aggressive this song is! the chorus is so good! The choreography is probably gonna slap in this one. I can’t to see kai performs it.

09 여기 있을게 (Smile On My Face)  such a sweet ballad. Everything about it is pretty & dreamy.

10 오아시스 (Oasis)  the moment kyungsoo opened the song I knew I’d like it & I was right. it has magical sound to it. the rap wasn’t needed tho. it kinda breaks the feeling. small detail: I just found out that the English title was “run”.. they should’ve just kept it, it fits better than “oasis”

General Impressions

- the songs I’ll have on repeat: sign, oh la la, damage & oasis. - sm produces strong vocalists but weak rappers but this time the rapline was solid. CY’s flow has gotten better & SH really impressed me in this album. Not just in the title track but the entire album, his parts were so good & the highlight of a couple of songs. - jongdae’s voice is just as gorgeous as ever. Just when I thought that he can’t get better, he does. I’d love to see him singing rock ballads in the soon future. - kai’s vocals are developing beautifully, solo album here we come! - the album needed more ballads. exo’s strong point is their vocals so ballads are what they produce best. - this’s more like a universal kpop problem which is inserting unnecessary rap in every song but I noticed that that the production team worked on collectively making the rap parts fit better than the previous albums. - this’s a biased one ‘cause kyungsoo is my favorite vocalist in exo so naturally i wanted him to have longer parts. - I felt like the whole album was designed to suit the non-vocal lines, a subunit is in the making. I don’t know if you remember but since 2016 (?) there's this rumor that SM will debut an exo subunit called SKY (= SH/KAI/YEOL). I did speculate before that SM could be debuting SH & CY in a subunit but if they needed a vocalist it has a high possibility of being jongin (MS&SH have to enlist in 2019, BH&JD have the unit CBX already). - out of all the members, I was impressed by the development of jongin’s vocals & SH’s rapping skills.  

Music Video

I don’t usually watch MVs, let alone like them & this one is no exception. The only thing I like about it is the holy crop top. exo’s best music videos so far are  “universe” (all these nudes!) & “lucky one” (jongin dancing in the face of danger will never not be funny). This’s my fav transition shot, it was so smooth.

Concept

“power” didn’t have a concept, or at least not one that I picked up on lol. This one is much better as everything is cohesive. The motorbikes were a cliche but the uniforms were so good! the beret alone won me over, i love it so much! ksoo’s looks are captivating, he usually gets stuck with boring outfits but this time he was the best. just take a look

Yes from what we saw and analyzed. If they're not okay we would see it on Ji's face during his lives or he would disappear completely ( like how he did in kaistal era or Jenkai era or when he broke his leg and couldn't perform or when Soo enlisted) and he wouldn't be happy and cheerful during his lives where he was only laughing and being cheerful and genuinely showing us his house and disappearing for a long ass period when Ksoo was discharged. 💁🏻‍♀️

I mean if you fought with just your bestie or a dear family member, people would notice ! That you are not okay and something is going on?🤷🏻‍♀️ And they would ask you if everything is okay! Let alone when you fight with your other half your partner your lover the love of your life! Do you think you could be experiencing a breakup after an amazing 10 years relationship then do tons of lives where you are genuinely happy and always cheerful and laughing all the time telling fans to be happy coz you're happy! And swearing that you're happy and genuinely satisfied with your life when your fans keep pestering you with "Are you happy?" questions??

Ji is an open book he is very easy to read, when he is not okay you would know it no matter how much the show or the IG Live are scripted and manipulated and no matter how hard he tired to hide it, he can't! We know he is a terrible liar and terrible at hiding his feelings. On the other hand ksoo and other members are better in hiding their distress but not always, Chanyeol is also the type to be easily seen through! He is so transparent.

So of Ji was in a difficult period after breaking up with the love of his life with whom he spent his best 10 years of his youth,...do you think he would do tons of lives and be overly active and all happy and cheerful especially when Soo got discharged?? During that period he was the happiest and he even disappeared for along time when Soo got discharged 1 month earlier than his actual date of discharge in January 25th, and after that Ji came back as healthy and happy and ever! He was happy even before Ksoo's enlistment thats when all fans were all so suddenly amazed at how happy and cheerful he became, coz he knew his Bae would be discharged soon and I'm sure Ksoo was with him during his promotions supporting him, thats what explained his happiness, both his Solo debut and his Jagi coming back and supporting him during his promotions in December. He even kept telling fans that what matters is happiness and that he is so happy recently and wants them to be happy with him! And he was genuinely reminding and repeating to fans on his lysn bubble and IG lives that he is extremely happy these days, even in his Solo Promotions he wrote in his signed albums messages to fans asking them to be happy like how he is extremely happy! Coz Ksoo got discharged earlier in December becoz of Corona new rules and spent his one month vacation with his family and I'm sure he spent it with Ji coz that was the period when Ji suddenly disappeared even tho his album was just out still he took his time with Soo in the middle of his promotions period, I'm sure he scheduled for his promotions to end before Ksoo's discharge to be Able to spend time with him . Many days after he came back as happy as ever!

And if we come to compare this late 2020 and early 2021 with the second half of 2019 and the whole 2020 year til before his album release, we were able to see how Ji was sad and not the cheerful boy he is now, in his lives he was often off and always hangs out with his squad and do IG lives with them to cheer up! Let's not forget Ji disappeared for two months after Ksoo's enlistment and if it weren't for SupeM debut that he was forced to appear again to promote for the debut, I'm sure he wouldn't have appeared on SNS. We all know the drama that happened btw him and Soo in 2019 bcoz of Ksoo's sudden enlistment that he didn't discuss with him nor with the members not even with the company, and the members confirmed that when they said Ksoo came to them all of a sudden and said he was enlisting as if he said he was going out for a café with some friends and coming back later. Baek said that.

So he seemed cheerful since Ksoo got discharged as I said above and now we got to See kaisoo happy and all lovey-dovey so we assumed their relationship is stable. Coz no one would be all happy and touchy with his Ex that he loved for 10 years and just broke up with! If they broke up or had problems in their relationship we would notice it on Ji! Coz it's impossible for him to just forget a 10 years relationship in a span of few weeks and be all fine and cool with the breakup and be extremely and genuinely happy in his IG lives, while assuring and promising EXOL that he is fine and extremely happy recently when they kept pestering him with the question "Are you really happy?" I knew it wasn't scripted coz he REALLY REALLY looked happy! Like genuinely happy.

No one can get over a 10years relationship easily in a matter of few months and be all cheerful and happy. So they were stable, we assumed.

Sometimes we don't need to be told things if we can just analyse with our eyes and logic. If we gather the info that we're sure about in the past! Which we saw evidence of! Which is that kaisoo ARE LOVERS. It wouldn't be hard to assume the present. What we can't predict is the future and we clarified that in our latest Q&A.

Just wanna say thank you for your blog!

Exciting news today that ksoo solo album is coming next month 🎉 ooh i'm so curious on what kind of songs and lyrics that dks has.

Idk why but i suddenly remember when ks voice cracked and kji comforted him. It seems like a long time ago and now w have kji1 and soon dks1. I felt like a proud mom lol.

Sometimes i wonder what made them really close to each other way back when they're trainees? Kji went from being scared of dks to totally attached until now.

KJI2 is soon after DKS1 and I think they will have R&B songs mostly, and Ksoo might have a ballad too in his album. And I think Ji would try hip-hop style maybe 🤔 with rap lines and stuff..
