I absolutely loved the finale. I laughed and I cried... but I do have some notes.
I think it would've been better had we seen the process of her working on the B&B with the final beat being she's about to open, instead of fast-forwarding through a month of her successful business. Then, the night she opens, Won proposes to her. That feels like a cleaner way of telling the story, if that makes sense. It would've made more sense if the future of her B&B was uncertain and open-ended, given the themes of the story.
Like her grandmother said, she ought to live her life and if one falls, one can climb back up. Having Pyeong-hwa mention the business has been successful, felt a tad lacklustre.
Speaking of, Pyeong-hwa and Ro-un had a lovely, cute love story, but the sudden shift in tone of them visiting his mother's grave was a lot. Between all the sweet sentimentality, it was a punch in the gut. I liked it, but I think it would've worked better in the penultimate episode. (Which also means they could've gotten together quicker, but I digress.)
Da-eul's story was about becoming the boss that she is in her private and professional life, but I do still wonder if she really won by having her husband temporarily take on the housework. Until the very end, we didn't see a change in him, so we're not sure whether he and Da-eul can make it work in the future.
But other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed it! The chairman's eventual acceptance of Sa-rang, Hwa-ran finally choosing love in the shape of her son, all the cute Sa-rang and Won moments, Won's mother meeting Ji-hu, the Wedding™, and the epilogue which was Completely Fan Service And I Live For It.

Will ROAD FREIGHT RATES IN THE Eu GO UP IN THE LATTER PART OF 2024 - KTL UK
Tumblr media
A recent analysis suggests that road freight rates in Europe are likely to be subject to continued upward pressure over the coming months.
What’s happening with European road freight rates as we enter the second half of 2024?
Individuals and organisations with a requirement for intermodal freight solutions may be interested in a recent analysis suggesting that road freight rates in Europe are likely to be subject to continued upward pressure over the coming months.
The analysis in question was undertaken by the International Road Transport Union (IRU), which found that the costs faced by transport companies were not decreasing at all.
Furthermore, there are signs of a gradual awakening of demand, while toll increases in some countries look set to contribute further to climbing freight rates.
2024’s early months were subdued, but signs of change are emerging
Quarterly research carried out by IRU and Transport Intelligence found that both the spot and contract rates index saw a decline during the first three months of 2024.
The European spot rates index, for example, dropped to 123.9 points for that period, which was 1.1 points lower than the previous quarter, and 8.2 points below that seen for the corresponding period of 2023. Meanwhile, the contract rates index scored 127.6 points, which was a 2.6-point fall from 2023’s last quarter, and 1 point below the same period a year earlier.
This subdued picture tallies well with the indication given by IRU analysts that – drawing upon data from McKinsey – the European inflation level was at its lowest for 33 months in March.
As reported by trans.info, there are signs that many eurozone countries are gradually commencing a recovery from the economic slowdown. The PMI index, for example, has indicated positive industrial activity in Spain and the Netherlands.
Experts from Transport Intelligence have predicted a 0.4% year-on-year increase in the volume of European road transport this year. While that might seem a subtle change, it would mark a significant rise from the 1.1% decline recorded for 2023.
If such a slight rebound does come to pass, it would probably be attributable to a combination of reduced inflation, higher real earnings, and improved customer sentiment and activity.
So, are the rates for freight by road set to go up over the next few months?
Judging by the factors mentioned above, this would seem a very probable prospect. After all, if there is greater consumption, this will translate into heightened demand for goods, thereby accelerating demand for transport services. It is only natural to expect rates to go up as a consequence.
As IRU has pointed out, road freight operators have continued to face high operating costs, driven by such factors as vehicle maintenance, insurance, and tyre costs. The organisation has highlighted that diesel prices, for example – which fell during 2023 – began to climb again early this year.
If, then, you are seeking to take advantage of the best possible road freight rates and intermodal freight solutions during 2024, it might be ideal to act now, rather than later. Contact the KTL team today, and we will be pleased to discuss your needs and to provide you with the most competitive quote.

Baby Steps or Go All In?
14 minutes
In this segment, we discuss the dilemma of adopting high-structure teaching methods with Justin Shaffer, focusing on the balance between workload and effectiveness. Shaffer recommends a phased approach to implementing new strategies in an established course, starting small and evaluating the impact before adding more elements. This method allows educators to manage their workload while still experimenting with innovative teaching practices that can significantly enhance student learning experiences and outcomes. For new courses, Justin suggests going all-in from the start, noting that while the initial setup may be labor-intensive, the long-term gains in student performance and instructional efficiency can justify the effort.

was shocked that matt bennett + bp was trending because what a weird combo? i watched his tiktok before coming to my own conclusion because kpop stans tend to cancel anyone over anything. but idt he was wrong/should be dragged for what he said. hylt is similar to d4/ktl based on its typical structure - it wasn’t a “new” sound from bp and is expected. i don’t agree w his opinion on ic because that song wasn’t it but also he’s besties w ari and her team produced it so 🤷🏻‍♀️
i mean youre entitled to your opinion but hylt does NOT sound like d4 lol also like almost every group keeps similar structures for their songs but i dont see anyone burning them at the stakes for it but it’s suddenly a problem when it comes to bp 🤨 also he was stupid as hell for dragging twice into the discussion
also (and i cannot stress this enough) music is very subjective ofc but he still could have been more respectful when giving his opinion no one asked for lol

Meditational Sealing 2/3: Kabbalistic Cross
Hello again!
This post i will detail the Kabbalistic Cross (KC) and give a small presentation on it.
The KC is a staple in western magic. Its a powerful and easy visualizing technique found in many of the Western practices and makes references to the Kabbalistic Tree of Life and its Sephiroth.
The Kabbalistic Cross is a union between the divine body and the blood of the practitioner. Then, the 'crucifixion' of the practitioner to the spiritual "axis mundi".
(I dont like talking about the Sephiroth and KTL mostly because i find much of their composition as convoluted and subject as the historical references found on them. You can google it and look into it yourself but long story short, its mainly used as a 'filing system'. Since its all metaphysical im hesitant on further discussing the relevancy. Kudos to anyone that doesnt have a brain fart when working with them.)
Anyways, when the KC is properly performed it allows for the initiate or practitioner to orient and center themselves. Turning the practioner into the center and as the point of meditation between the active (conscious) and passive (subconscious) polarities.
The practice is very similar and akin to the rite used in the principles of the Christian Eucharist.( So, this technique is also recommended for christian witches. )
Tumblr media
Moving on, i will now present the steps. First find east or as close as you can. You may use a compass or the star positions (i.e. the sun) if youre unsure.
Face east (i suggest standing) and align your mind with your body. Clear yourself.
Visualize the "light" (or however you perceive the protective energy) over your head.
Reach for it with your right index finger and touching this source, bring it to your forehead and touch your third eye or anja.
Chant or say: AH-TEH
Move your finger straight down to your chest or stomach (your Anahata/Manipura).
Chant or say: MAL-KUTH
Same finger/hand touch your Right shoulder.
Chant or Say: VEE-GE-BUR-AH
Same fingers, touch your Left shoulder
Chant or say VEE-GE-DU-LAH
Then, bring your hands togeyher in front of you in a prayer gesture. (You can clasp them together or what ever respectful gesture you choose. I hold my hands over one another, bottom hand fingers pointing down and top hand fingers pointing up.)
Finally, chant or say: LE-OL-LAM
I repeat this rite when ever necessary. My standard warding i do the Kabbalistic Cross followed by the Pentagram of White Light then the KC to finish the seal.
Warding is about what makes you feel secure and "in the zone". Adapt your studies to fit your needs.
Thank you for reading and be safe!

Budapest’s New Underground
Tumblr media
Although the international reputation of the country, whose PM hailed illiberal democracy as his preferred NWO, is not the best (to say the least), there's a parallel culture that largely operates independently of state-run infrastructure, creating several microcosms with their own audiences and worldviews, implicitly turning against misogyny, discrimination, narrow-mindedness, and reflecting the techno-dystopian times we are living in at the moment.         "...The goal of our underground is to create a second culture, a culture completely independent from all official communication media and the conventional hierarchy of value judgements put out by the establishment", wrote Ivan Jirous, a member of The Plastic People of the Universe, in 1975. For the purposes of this article, we will focus only on Budapest. Hungary, in general, is very centrist, even more so than its neighbouring countries. Most of the cultural happenings take place in the capital. "It is worth mentioning that to me the 'underground' seems to be an arty, intellectual, middle-class, mostly Budapest-centred, or at least city-centred thing", explains popular music scholar Emília Barna. "For instance, there is so much rap music made in the outskirts or the provinces, extremely poor areas of Hungary, scenes that thrive in these localities as well as on the internet – music that I would certainly call political because these artists directly address issues of poverty, social deprivation, criminality (gangster and prison life) etc. – yet as far as I know this music is never referred to as part of 'the underground'".
Tumblr media
UH Fest
"A strong stage performance and powerful art are always political acts", says Krisztián Puskár, one of the organisers behind UH Fest. The experimental music staple was established at the dawn of the new millennium, taking inspiration from the now-defunct Austrian phonoTAKTIK festival. Since 2000, UH Fest (also known as Ultrahang) has staged approximately 500 performances. From noise techno, through avant-garde improv, to an hour of drone, UH Fest aims to challenge its audience's expectations and break the boundaries between various genres and generations. Thus, over the course of the week of the festival, the likes of Romanian spectralist Iancu Dumitrescu rub shoulders with Low Jack, KTL, Sote and Richard Dawson. Unlike many other similar urban festivals in Europe, UH Fest is not institutionalised, and is largely run on a volunteer basis. "To this day, we are just ordinary citizens without an institution behind us. We have a foundation, which is a legal entity, but not in terms of an office or infrastructure. It was a grassroots initiative, a family venture in the beginning, because my sister and brother-in-law were also involved", says András Nun, the organiser of the festival and one of the most pivotal figures of the Budapest underground music scene. Aside from its main event, which usually happens in late September/early October, the festival has also organised so-called "Demo" events for up-and-coming local talent, which acted as a springboard for several successful musicians such as The Death of Rave artist and Mark Fell collaborator Gábor Lázár, Opal Tapes and Lobster Theremin producer S Olbricht (whose own Farbwechsel imprint we'll discuss later), and the improv duo 12z.
OMOH
OMOH is a new addition to Budapest's queer scene, shunning the music played at mainstream gay events and embracing a more abrasive type of techno and underground house. The name itself comes from Russian police special forces and can be interpreted "as a sort of middle finger to all homophobic legislators of the world", explain the organisers, whose identity remains a mystery. "No organisers, no line-ups" is their egalitarian motto. The monthly (or so) OMOH party takes place at the top of a decaying shopping centre built in 1926, the home of the infamous Corvin Club & Bar. This sprawling venue is wedged between the 7th district, renowned for its tourist-filled ruin bars, and the up-and-coming, working-class 8th district. "Lively, chaotic, and most definitely an architectural, urban and social war zone – not postcard material. Which fits our mindset perfectly." The right-wing parties who came to prominence across Central Europe – most prominently in Poland and Hungary – championed heteronormative, Christian, conservative, nationalist values, the resonance of which can be felt in places like OMOH: "Even if club owners and managers have no problem with the LGBTQI crowd, the organisers still have to deal with the suspicion of the staff and the regulars – to put it mildly. And our audience, quite frankly, is a division of brave little foot-soldiers claiming their share of an environment which is by no means a so-called safe space."
Auróra
About 10 minutes' walk from Blaha Lujza Square, deeper into the dimly lit streets of the 8th district, the increasingly gentrified inner-city "ghetto" which is also one of the most ethnically diverse and lively areas of Budapest, lies Auróra. Located in the street of the same name, Auróra is based in an inauspicious building – you will have to ring the bell in order to get in. This family house with a cosy garden has become an oasis of alternative culture and thinking in its purest sense. Aside from its music programming – which largely centres around the weekend – the space also provides offices to several NGOs such as Budapest Pride, Roma Press Center and DrugReporter, maintained by a platform called the Auróra HUB, which is funded from Auróra's profit. The genealogy of the space can be traced back to Sirály, a former squat located on one of the busiest commercial veins of the city, at Király St 50, which was shut down in 2013. Several activist groups and a few political parties emerged from the vaults of Sirály – one of which was the collective behind Auróra (another established Gólya, a venue also located in the 8th district). Auróra's music programming is diverse, and encompasses over 40 gigs per month, ranging from free jazz, techno and punk to experimental electronics – all of this without any official state support. "The political situation doesn't let us cooperate with culture-politics at all", say Auróra's Fanni Tóth, Áron Lukács and Zsuzsi Mekler. "You can see self-censorship, fear and unpredictability across cultural institutes all over Hungary. We think the only possible way to keep this platform of NGOs and the lively discussion about issues in our country alive is to run a social centre like this, totally independently."
Tumblr media
RNR666
RNR666, or Rock'n'Roll 666, is a music community established in 2005 by three friends from rural eastern Hungary: Csühes Pali, Lavor and Szabo, whose backgrounds include music, art and fanzine publishing. Initially begun as online radio, the RNR666 RADIO SHOW, the group widened its activities to include concert organisation, online publishing and record releasing. Their collective spirit is marked by a fiercely DIY attitude and punk-inspired ethos. They began in the era of Myspace, which connected them to the global underground and the low-budget, so-called "food-flat-and-beer bands". 10 years later, not much has changed in terms of the frugality and DIY aspect of this scene. "Lots of the venues here don't care about the fact that you want to do small, but subculturally very important events, they are just interested in profit", says Lavor as we sit in Kék Ló, an improv venue/bar in the 8th district. These days, they might do one gig per month, largely due to the lack of resources, inviting mostly foreign bands – they have to finance everything from their own pockets. This is how they released their first 7-inch, a psychedelic garage rock split between Piresian Beach, the moniker of Budapest-based singer-songwriter Zsófia Németh – who is also a member of the collective – and JC Satán. Although event promotion has shifted to Facebook, they still make posters and spread the word IRL: "I still party six days a week, so I get to talk to people that way."
Farbwechsel
Farbwechsel is a truly glocal label based on friendship and personal connections, sourcing its roster almost exclusively from local talent and organically spreading the "Budapest sound" abroad. This happened largely thanks to acclaimed producers like Route 8, S Olbricht – who established the label with Bálint Zalkai aka Alpár in 2012 – Norwell and Imre Kiss, all of whom released their debut albums on Farbwechsel. You'll often find musicians associated with the imprint jamming in each other's bedrooms, sometimes perusing vintage hardware instruments borrowed from Zoltán Balla, an avid collector and member of Farbwechsel-signed project Wedding Acid Group. Even though several artists from the label's roster have gradually begun to release music on foreign labels such as Opal Tapes and Lobster Theremin, they remain faithful and committed to the imprint that brought them recognition, and they also organise regular events in Budapest. Their sonic aesthetic has been described mostly as lo-fi house, but that doesn't do them justice. There's a sense of ghostly melancholia and longing, perhaps an aural appropriation of their home city, a place constantly hovering somewhere between the past and the present. This is most prominent in Mikolai's work, which centres around the dancefloor and transgresses it at the same time. The label roster has become stable over the last five years, with names such as Saint Leidal The 2nd, Aiwa, S Olbricht, Norwell, SILF and Alpár.

Küss Mich
Küss Mich… and follow me to a gritty basement, where we'll dance to abandon and the music will elevate us beyond our physical selves, bodies sublimating in communal spirit. Küss Mich is a romantic event – romantic in its truest, least-saccharine sense. Founded in 2008 as an irregular DJ club event at the iconic drinking den/underground basement Vittula off Blaha Lujza Square, Küss Mich is a legendary night in the context of Budapest nightlife – a place that hailed eclecticism before it was in fashion and steered clear of the corrosive irony inherent in postmodern hipsterdom. Their sonic cocktail contains a blend of DIY-synthwave, punk, Italo disco, acid and industrial – in a concert or DJ format. "The motivation was to entertain ourselves. One of us had an industrial-dark-synth-punk background, the other came from techno and acid-oriented electronic dance music. We were both tired of the narrow-mindedness of these scenes", says Krisztián Puskár who also DJs under the moniker Splatter, one of the founders of Küss Mich alongside Gábor György alias Gördön. Adopting their outsider status and subverting expectations of the then-segregated music milieu, rediscovering past gems and presenting them alongside current sounds and bands, enabled them to navigate the muddy waters of contemporary music, aided by a devoted audience. "To choose a German name was pretty strange, fun and uncool back then. Now it's totally the opposite of that. German party and brand names will vanish or become out-of-vogue, but great people will still be there to do things on their own. And us too. If there is no money in it, there must be another motivation, right?"

JazzaJ
JazzaJ is a compound word combining "jazz" and "zaj" (which means "noise" in Hungarian). The event, which aims to bridge the free jazz and noise/experimental scenes, based on improvisation, was founded in 2011. "We wanted the noise musician to meet the free jazz musician. The underground rocker to meet the folk musician. The baroque player and the avant-garde music-philosopher to meet the electronic music geek", says Ernő Zoltán Rubik, one of the organisers of the event. Over the last five years it has grown into a communal gathering of discerning listeners, who welcome anything that JazzaJ offers them. "Listening is a creative act", adds Rubik. The main task that musicians who play at JazzaJ are given is to leave their comfort zones. "We believe in no style". Recently, JazzaJ began to invite musicians to be curators – each month a musician puts together the line-up, which sometimes creates rather interesting and surprising juxtapositions. This way, they've staged "hardcore-like nights" courtesy of Balázs Pándi, video operas with Miro Tóth, baroque and noise improvisation with Albert Márkos, and 12 saxophonists running around the room via Gergő Kovács. The JazzaJ community is sourced from the sprawling local scene, but remains tightly connected not only to neighbouring countries, but also the European and international scenes. "Our way of promoting improvisation as an act of freedom and tolerance, listening and presence, is already political without naming it so. There were times when we felt that for some people, this was a weekly refuge, a hideout from everyday cruelty and ignorant aggression taking place on social and political fields, or the streets." T+U
T+U stands for Technologie und das Unheimliche, or the uncanny, the strangely familiar – that which repulses and attracts you at the same time. Established in 2014 as a publishing project and cross-disciplinary movement by Mark Fridvalszki, Zsolt Miklósvölgyi and Márió Z. Nemes, T+U is located somewhere between Berlin, Budapest and Leipzig. Their leitmotif is an exploration of the confrontation between the age-old dichotomy: the human condition – its various manifestations and cultures – and technology, through theme-based issues and events. Music plays an important role in their modus operandi. They have a regular radio show on legendary Tilos Rádio and create guest mixes, employing a specific sonic aesthetic that chimes with their ideology: dark, technoid, dystopian. Some of T+U's members have left Hungary for personal and political reasons. "Within the recent years, mostly due to the socially and morally harmful cultural politics of the current political establishment, there is less and less air for progressive art and subversive thoughts", says Zsolt Miklósvölgyi via email. "This catastrophic hedge-hop mainly caused by the anti-intellectualist, reactionary attitude of the ruling right-wing populist party and its substandard cultural myrmidons, obviously forces many of us into 'exile'. But within our techno-capitalist era, the image of 'living in exile' no longer means that you exchange one geo-cultural location for another, but you are in constant transition. You are not only characterised by the place you are from, but rather by the way you are rewriting these already-existing cognitive landscapes and cartographies."
Drrpnc
If you are a musician or into underground rock and extreme metal in Budapest, you will probably have passed through Keleti Blokk and the adjoining Dürer Club at some point. The sprawling complex neighbours the green oasis of the city park, whose integrity is threatened by a huge makeover that, for the foreseeable future, may replace much of the greenery with shiny concrete. Drrpnc is a secret cellar somewhere in the underbelly of the aforementioned space. A cross between a rehearsal room and a gig space, Drrpnc has become one of the city's most prominent havens for the punk/hardcore and extreme underground metal. Needless to say, the modus operandi of their activities is strictly DIY. "We have always had some challenges, such as leakage, electrical damage, etc., but the Hungarian scene is a community, so we can solve all of our problems through our common strength", says Adam Mjöl. The future remains uncertain. "This building, where we are now, will be probably demolished, so we have to start looking for a new place."

Davoria & Külvárosi Techno
The seeds of Davoria were sown around the year 2000. The collective began organising sound-system parties in the summer, as part of the then-thriving freetekno scene and its annual summer teknival gatherings. Ever since their beginnings they have always been part of both worlds – throwing events at regular clubs as well as the outdoor, illegal parties. These days, Davoria's monthly events take place at Müszi (situated in the 8th district at the aforementioned Corvin shopping mall), a space for alternative culture that also includes the offices of the civil watchdog Atlatszo.hu, as well as Auróra. The sonic identity of the event remains faithful to their beginnings: hardcore techno, noise and experimental electronics. "We call our parties tekno, because we feel that this term is open enough to represent different kinds of genres, from tekno to experimental music", explains Davoria organiser Péter Márton, who also produces uncompromising techno (or tekno) and noise under the respective monikers Telesport and Prell. Davoria also host a stage at the now-legendary underground techno event Külvárosi Techno (Suburban Techno), which takes place several times a year in the industrial premises of the large studio space and now-defunct venue R33. Ideologically, their stance hasn't changed over the last fifteen years. "We try to show that even in a commercial world, you are capable of doing productive, good things while keeping your freedom."

Umbra: III
KTL-03, District E-17, Eternity Fall Lounge 1 Minute After Event
Umbra found herself startled by the sudden rumbling of the ground. “The Angel has been stolen.” An announcement stated as it began to show information on three mercenaries. Before she could try to interpret the alert, an urgent call from Vespa arrived that she answered on impulse.
“It’s here, it’s here!” Vespa chattered with excitement from Heaven’s Overlook. “What did I tell you?” “Shut up. Did you do this?” Umbra replied with frustration. “What’s happening outside? I can’t see past all these buildings, I’m in Seventeen.” “Orbital guns! And Direwolf, him and his crew! They stole Seraphim!” Umbra continued to run outside, searching for a vantage point to get a better idea of the situation. “Stole? Seraphim? You can do that?” “Apparently! 30 million on all three of them, and probably more if you bring the Angel home.” Vespa was staring at a vidscreen with news footage on her end, eagerly observing the exciting chase of the thieves. “They’re riding in blitzracing craft and they’re totally getting away right now, this is nuts!” “You are a child, Vespa. What do you intend to do? Collect?” Vespa shrugged, despite the call having no visual. “I dunno, I kinda want to see where this goes first! Do you think they’ll do some more insane shit or will they be history by tomorrow?” Umbra paused a moment, staring at the array of massive cannons that now coated the surface of KTL-03. “I… The Corp should handle this easily, right?” “They sure aren’t right now! They’re shooting at all the blitzracing craft but they’re evading the shots. Whew.” Vespa cheered amidst the other spectators in her area. “Then… I suppose I’ll wait too.” Umbra sighed. “Those targets aren’t going to be easy to kill, as tempting as 30 million is.” “Looking for a better reason to run into the deathtrap?” “Something like that. The vidstar cowboy in me wants me to do something stupid.” Vespa laughed over the line. “You, acting stupid? Goodness. Your head get shaken up too much?” “You know how it is. Too much TV rots your brain.” The two were staring at the same news feed across the planet from each other, watching the daring escape until they shook the hailstorm of skyborne bullets and flew into the horizon.
“Whew. Wonder what the Corp’s gonna do?” Vespa thought aloud. “Hopefully make some sport out of it if they put a bounty out. Probably expected Seraphim to give them trouble.” Umbra walked toward her hoverbike parked outside Eternity Fall. “Hopefully I’ll be there before the mess is over. Where do you want to meet, Vespa?” “Oh shit, we’re doing this together? I mean, you want to?” Vespa could hardly mask her excitement. “Funny, the B-class asking me!” “Right. I don’t mean to imply we’re… Equals. I’m aware of the skill gap.” Umbra clarified as her bike hummed to life before roaring down the street out of the district. “You’d be surprised how close skill gaps can be! I think you’re a solid candidate to climb the ladder into the S ranks if you don’t overwork yourself to death. Seriously, you need to work on relaxing every now and again.” “I’m flattered, and maybe later. Anyway. Meeting point?” “Head to S-1, I’ll be here at Heaven’s Overlook until there’s more to act on. Keep you posted! Drive safely!” Umbra ended the call as she accelerated even further, taking an empty stretch of road to herself, wearing a rare smirk as the inner child of hers that dreamt of chasing legendary bandits twirled her pistol.
——- KTL-03, District 0-10, Blind Eye Valley 1 Minute After Event
The area rumbled as the ground of the valley split open, with large hangar doors making way for gargantuan cannons that filled the canyon floor. “Wh- What the hell is that!?” Derrick shouted, backing up from one of the orbital batteries that emerged near their position. “Gates of Heaven. Means planetary quarantine.” Strix replied calmly, familiar with the event. “Don’t lose focus.” Their opponents still prepared themselves to continue their assault, ready to take advantage of the chaos amidst them. As they began to advance once again, a bolt of lightning struck nearby, leaving a Toroid in its place. Its appearance was unique in its own right, having a binary orbit of energy surrounding the main form and two strange emitters that floated on its sides. The Toroid species never failed to baffle.
“Strix.” The light energy being spoke in an artificial voice. “Tempo.” Strix replied with a small bow. “Seems things have gone slightly awry.” “Rank 98 showed up. Technically, I’m not K anymore.” The sniper tilted her head in the direction of her opponent Tetrahead’s shattered body. “I see. Congratulations on your promotion. Gather your team and head to Z-10. Be there in two hours. See if there’s anyone you can recruit, as well. You may need more hands.” “Phase 1, then.” Tempo’s emitters turned toward Strix’s opponents, generating a distortion field around them. “Who asked you to intercept this group?” No reply. “Acknowledged. You have two hours, Strix.” Tempo fired both emitters at the opponent, who attempted to move before the emitters’ projectiles went into effect. A bubble of tinted space filled the area between the two points of impact, appearing almost ethereal. The targets inside were slowed, the time around them distorted to prevent proper movement. “Good hunting.” With that, Tempo vanished in another bolt of lightning.
“What the hell…” Beranz recoiled in slight fear. “Never seen that. Strix, what is going on? You know that Toroid?” Strix motioned with her head to get moving as she walked forward, unconcerned with their hobbled opponents. “Derrick, your case, if you would.” Derrick approached, looking at Beranz as he passed by. Both shared a look of confusion. “Yeah, Strix, I’m with Beranz on this one. What is actually happening? Is this because of the Angel thing?” “Can you open the case?” Derrick frowned, but complied. Inside was another one of Strix’s arms, apparently a spare. “Wh- You anticipated losing an arm?” “Please just attach it.” Strix continued to move forward, focused on her objective. “Can you explain what’s happening first? Who was that?” Strix remained silent on the subject. “The arm, Derrick.” “What are you gonna do, make me? Not like you can.” The sniper paused, turning to face Derrick. “I am. Attach the arm, Derrick, or you’re off the contract and no longer necessary not just to me, but to anyone.” Her tone was particularly intense as she stared directly at Derrick’s visor, able to see his facial expression change from upset to scared. Derrick promptly attached Strix’s arm, and travel continued as she took her energy bow and shaved off layers of the Silicine formation that immobilized her other arm. The crystalline structure converted to hardlight energy on contact, shimmering with every pass. “Why is everything so hush-hush about this?” Beranz spoke up once more. “I don’t like it, even if the pay’s good.” “If it will remove the subject from discussion, an actual briefing will happen once we reach Z-10. So, please.” Strix clarified somewhat tiredly. Derrick grunted in frustration. “Honestly, this whole thing has been suspicious. Who hires a team to lug something across KTL-03 to someone else here? Why us? What the fuck is in the actual case that they sent that caliber of a team?” “Because like most clients, there is an opposing party.” “Why here? I don’t get it.” “Let it alone and keep moving. Our pilot is waiting. If you’ll pardon me a moment, I have calls to make.” Strix put their secure line on hold as she sifted through contacts, calling one to start. Her associate responded almost instantly.
------- District S-1, Heaven’s Overlook 2 Solar Minutes after event
Vespa, too, smiled, eager to see the legendary theft of the Angel from her home play out and potentially involve herself. What would the Corp do? Would it become a competition? A civil war of sorts? The possibilities were unpredictable, and therefore exciting. Around her, similarly energized plans between mercenaries of how to kill the group and cash in on the bounty were the subject of heated discussion. There was a slight minority, however, who wondered more what was in the Library, and what the group intended to do. Vespa realized that perhaps they were in it for the information, rather than keeping Seraphim and using her as a weapon. Perhaps they would make a statement clarifying their intent. As Vespa considered the situation, another call arrived that she answered absentmindedly.
“Hey, Umbra. Miss me already?” “Vespa.” A familiar voice spoke. Older, with a sense of wisdom behind her. “I require assistance.” “Wh- Whoa. Strix?” Vespa frowned, surprised. “You’re still around? Thought you were doing your weird black-ops stuff for the Corp.” “I am. I need more hands for this.” “Uh, I got a friend I could probably rope into it. She’s Class-B, is that alright? I can vouch for her.” A pause in the communication worried Vespa a moment. “Strix?” “I suppose. You have an eye for talent.” “Aw, you’re too kind. I’m in though, what’s the deal?” “Will explain later. Rendezvous at Z-10 in 2 hours.” The call ended abruptly, as the venerable Strix often acted. Always business with her, Vespa thought. She called Umbra immediately afterward, curious and enticed. “Hey, change of plans. Go to Z-10, got two hours.” “Z-10? Why?” “Even I don’t know, but it’ll be exciting!” “If you say so. See you there.” The second call ended, where Vespa jogged off to find her own form of transportation.

‍3 Issues That Might Arise In Your Use Of Bonded Warehousing Services - KTL UK
Tumblr media
As we previously addressed in some detail in our news section here at KTL, it can be a good idea to embrace the use of bonding warehousing for quite a few reasons.
The advantages of bonded warehousing services include the closeness of such facilities to major ports, as well as the fact that they save importers from having to pay customs duty and VAT until the stored items are taken out of the warehouse or sold.
However, for all the convenience and cost-saving that bonded warehousing services can unquestionably bring, there can still be certain disadvantages, obstacles or issues that can arise with them. Here are a few examples of what we mean.
A need to keep tight control over costs
With the storage of goods in a bonded warehouse frequently being for prolonged periods of time, it can be easy for the costs of such storage to accumulate.
So, you will want to keep a close watch over such expenditure, especially given that much of the whole point of using bonded warehousing services is to save money.
A lack of control over management of the warehouse
You may need to be particularly vigilant in your use of bonded warehousing services if your transported products have specialised requirements in relation to how they are stored and taken care of in the warehouse.
This is frequently the case with shipments that are fragile, or that contain hazardous substances. So, if this describes the goods you are thinking of storing in a bonded warehouse, you should ask the operator of the facility about the special care or controls that will be in place.
Some goods, for instance, need to be chilled or frozen, so you should make sure the warehouse has suitable equipment allowing for safe handling and storage.
The consequences of goods being left in the warehouse for too long
As we touched on above, storage and administration fees can certainly build up if you leave certain items in a bonded warehouse for years and years.
If you wish to store goods on a duty-free basis long-term, they will need to be non-perishable products. Various consumable products – such as meat, poultry, fats, vegetables, fruit, oils, and sugars – can only be stored for a limited time.
There might be circumstances in which customs authorities are able to sell your goods to recover the cost of taxes – so, again, you should familiarise yourself with these.
If you’re on the lookout for bonded warehousing services at any UK port or airport, please don’t hesitate to reach out to KTL to discuss the storage facilities and related solutions we can provide.

What Are Shipping Alliances, How Do They Work And What Are The Benefits? KTL UK Explains.
Tumblr media
An introduction to shipping alliances, and the benefits for freight forwarders and end customers
When you are considering your freight options for getting shipments from one part of the world to another, you might come across mention of global freight and shipping alliances, and wonder exactly what these “alliances” are. Further to the point, why should you – as an end customer – care?
The term “shipping alliance” refers to when multiple ocean carriers enter into a cooperative agreement together.
Forming a shipping alliance – or an “ocean alliance”, as it is also often called – enables the cooperating carriers to make their prices more competitive and broaden their service coverage.
How do shipping alliances work?
A key feature of how global freight and shipping alliances work is that the carriers making up the alliance commit to vessel-sharing arrangements, so that they can cover the largest possible amount of the shipping market. Or to put it a simpler way, carriers essentially combine their cargo ship fleets within the same alliance, and gain access to vessels owned by other carriers in the alliance.
The creation of alliances thereby allows the participating carriers to utilise fleet space with a level of efficiency that wouldn’t be possible if they simply operated their own fleets separately.
As you might imagine given the above, there are various ways in which the carriers participating in an alliance closely cooperate, including in such areas as vessel assignment, stowage planning, problem-solving, and scheduling.
The partners in an alliance also typically discuss such matters as operational efficiencies, capacity, types of fuel used, and environmental issues. Alliance agreements do not, however, cover the subjects of joint asset ownership, marketing, or sales.
What are the major shipping alliances today?
Recent years have seen the formation of three major shipping alliances that include the world’s top 10 shipping lines. These include:
The 2M alliance, which was formed in 2015 and includes MSC and Maersk as members. However, it should be noted that this alliance will come to an end in 2025.
Ocean Alliance, which was formed in 2017 and consists of the carriers CMA CGM, Cosco Group, OOCL, and Evergreen.
THE Alliance, which was launched in 2017, and counts among its members Hapag Lloyd, NYK, Yang Ming, MOL, K-Line, and HMM.
What benefits do such global freight and shipping alliances bring to end customers?
The existence of shipping alliances can help deliver a variety of advantages for freight forwarders and the end customers who rely on freight services.
As aforementioned, the formation of ocean alliances can greatly help to lower freight rates and make broader coverage possible. This, in turn, can help freight forwarders to pass on savings to their customers, at the same time as offering better-quality services.
A carrier being a member of an alliance can also help boost the level of security it is perceived to offer. Alliances typically put in place contingency plans to safeguard partners in the event of a member of the given alliance facing financial problems. Such contingency planning also allows partners to prepare for the risk of adverse events such as natural disasters, pandemics, and economic recessions.
Membership of global freight and shipping alliances, then, can present significant benefits to not only the member carriers themselves, but also the freight forwarding companies and end customers that turn to them.
If you would like to discuss your own freight requirements with our team here at KTL UK, so that we can devise the solution that constitutes the best match to your needs at the right price, please don’t hesitate to contact our experts today.

Temperature Controlled Freight Services - KTL UK
Take a look at what KTL Europe do to ship temperature controlled freight.
3 factors that make temperature-controlled freight services crucial
While there are many items that are transported around the world every day, and for which there is not a need to be greatly vigilant about the outside temperature or environment, this is not the case for every item for which freight services may be required.
This brings us neatly onto the subject of temperature-controlled freight, and the imperative role that it plays. As the term suggests, these services are designed to ensure a given product being delivered is kept at a consistent temperature for the duration of its journey.
But what exactly makes temperature-controlled freight such a high priority for many of those shipping certain sensitive items? Below, we have set out three of the common reasons.
‍It helps preserve perishable items
There are certain categories of product that simply could not be maintained in the same condition throughout their journey, in the absence of temperature control.
Goods such as milk, eggs, fresh fruit, ice cream, and certain electronics and medical items – even organs for donation – need to be maintained at a certain consistent temperature when they are being moved across what may be vast distances.
If there was no temperature control, products like these would turn up at their destination in mouldy or unusable condition, or they might even be destroyed by the varying conditions during transit.
‍It helps businesses to open up new markets
You might have heard of the term “cold chain logistics”; this refers to the arrangements that are put in place to keep a product within a specified low-temperature range, from the moment it is produced or harvested, right through to consumption.
Temperature-controlled freight forms just one part of this process. Nonetheless, it is an imperative component for businesses that need to preserve the items they sell in optimal condition for the entirety of their journey to the final customer.
A business that aspires to sell meats, for example, or flowers, in another country or region, would not be able to provide the same quality of product to those other markets as they could to their local area, if temperature-controlled freight and other cold chain solutions did not exist.
It helps ensure customer safety and satisfaction
Businesses operating around the globe – and indeed, those that limit themselves to their domestic markets – are legally obliged to maintain temperature-sensitive products at certain temperatures. This is crucial for preserving such goods and protecting human health.
After all, if meat – for example – wasn’t kept in temperature-controlled conditions, this situation would lend itself to the growth of bacteria, such as salmonella, which could cause ill health.
Even if regulations to this effect didn’t exist, it would hardly serve a business’s reputation well – and therefore its chances of maintaining strong international partnerships or even surviving – if the people consuming its products frequently fell ill.
Even in the absence of any health risks, temperature-controlled freight helps to ensure that sensitive products arrive at their destination in immaculate condition – thereby aiding the business’s efforts to achieve high customer satisfaction.
So, from all the above, you can hopefully begin to see how vital it is to implement effective cold-chain arrangements for particular products, such as food products that must be kept at certain temperatures.
Here at KTL, we would be pleased to discuss how we can tailor our services to your most demanding requirements, including in relation to temperature-controlled freight. Please feel free to enquire to us today to find out more.
