Happy New Year! I spent the night talking to a someone who had suicidal thoughts on Tinder. That sure is place for sad people - I mean, I'm on it, so.

It's like two weeks to my green belt test and right now I am like, yeah, no. No no no. Maybe in April, or after the summer in late August.

Then again, this is my first martial art, in my first dojo, with my first sensei. It's quite hard to evalue myself what level is expected. I have compared myself to current greens, but they mostly have been greens since forever, and the one who has passed a green test diring my time is genuinely exceptional in skill.

So like, there's not really a good reference to what a fresh green looks like. I have to rely on my sensei's opinion that is achievable, but then again, the techiques are quite hard.

Tho, a brown belt agreed to sparr with me in a competition style kumite last week, and that actually went 12 times better than any of the kihon or renkaku waza I've done. So, something has stuck. Maybe that'll show enough spirit.

Anyway, that's my 2024 goal in life: I wanna be green belt in karate.
