What do you like most about kumoko?

The interesting dichotomy of how silly she is and how vicious she can be. It's a nice break from how vanilla Isekai protags can be. I've always been a sucker for pragmatic types, and she's that (when she's not doing something stupid, anyways), but she's so goofy that she doesn't get angsty about it. She's just really unique.

Um so I’m way too shy about posting my own Cosplay but I feel the need to post my Kumoko Cosplay. My Grail Cosplay is doing a better Arachne Kumoko and I am straight up gonna learn Fursuiting to do so (this was sort of the first draft and it was falling apart the whole time rip me). I did not make the Onesie I found it online btw (but I did fix the wig and turtleneck more). And yes that is a Kumoko ita-bag.

Update: with the third picture that shows off how the legs are supposed to go better! Also sorry if the way I put my name on them looks bad…

here to recommend "so I'm a spider, so what?" (kumo desu ga, nanika?) for plural media-- it's one of those isekais with the protagonist who reincarnates as a creature in a gamified world and gets super OP, like tensura. been a while since we watched it but IIRC the protag unlocks a Parallel Minds ability that pretty much makes her a polyconscious median system!

So I’ve been reading the light novel, So I’m  a Spider? So What?

Really good isekai, and normally I despise isekais! Main protagonist is very amusing to read and also just a tiny bit absolutely terrifying.

Don’t burn down her homes or do anything she perceives as a threat or an attempt to push her around, she’ll fucking end you.

Strongly suggested! Also don’t look it up careless online; the series has some big plot twists that get discussed fairly openly due to it the difficulty in discussing the story without revealing them.

My Opinions on the Different KumoDesu Adaptations.

-Overall

The Light Novel is the best, both the Manga and Anime Adaption unfortunately bungled the Plot in different ways. Cutting out the Human Side (Manga Adaption) or Rushing the Plot (Anime Adaption) messes with the Pacing and Foreshadowing.

-Web Novel vs Light Novel:

The author himself said that the Web Novel is sort of the “bad end” where the Light Novel is the “good/true end” of the series. Therefore I haven’t read the WN but only the LN because the WN sounds depressing.

-Manga:

The Manga cuts out the changing perspective which messes with the narrative (particularly foreshadowing and world building that Shun is responsible for) a lot. Also, though I never wanna put down someone’s art (because I’m sure they will improve with time), the character design changes are really bad looking. My personal pet peeve will forever be giving Kumoko three body segments making her NOT A SPIDER by definition. But I must give credit where credit is due, paneling is really hard and no one talks about the skill it takes turning a mainly text media into a manga layout and they did a great job on that front.

-Anime:

The human side does not suck the Anime just adapted it poorly. The Anime tries to cram in a lot of plot so they cut out most of the fun character interactions that make you like them (mostly Shun and Katia’s Relationship) but also somehow missed and fumbled major plot points that are super important later on (Bee Fight, Leston Rescue, and Kumoko’s Reaction To Maxing Taboo as Top Three). It was fun if you know the series though, just to see parts of it animated was nice. Also simplified versions of the Light Novel designs are appreciated.

So it was sort of until Seraph of the End that I actually interacted with fandoms and fan content instead of just the official media. And because of how insane Seraph of the End’s fandom was I sort lost interest in the series because I was fed up with the fandom (I mean I caught up with the official series not too long ago and it’s kinda off the rails now and not as good). So now when I have VERY strong opinions about a series I tend to not super interact with fan content and if I do I’m incredibly picky about. Like I adore Persona a LOT so I’m incredibly specific about the fan content for it I view (thank you filtering). Just I know how I feel about this, and I feel very strongly about it, so I don’t really care about hearing other people’s opinions. Not that I don’t like some fan interpretations like lore break downs (or people who share my ideas). So now with Kumo Desu Ga Nani Ka, I’m kinda refusing to look at fan content even though I’m sure we got some now that the anime’s out. So like yeah the series I’m OBSESSED SUPER INTO I am am either EXTREMELY PARTICULAR about what fan content I interact with or just don’t look at fan content that much. I read and watch a ton of series so I mean I do like at fan content for series I like but like I said if I’m OBSESSED and have VERY STRONG OPINIONS about it then not as much. Which btw is kinda why I haven’t really been using this blog as much. Also because I’m trying to be healthier about blogging because I had some unhealthy head space, that honestly most content creators on social media run into, to do with.

To update this: Long story short:

When I have a very strong opinion about something I don’t care about other people’s opinions about it. So because of that I am very specific about what parts of fandom I interact with. Because sometimes different opinions aren’t wrong just different and I keep myself happy. Plus, honestly I’m really starting to try and distance myself from fandom and just enjoy series on my own. When I was younger it was all this fun what if imaginative space now it all “you’re wrong I’m right” kinda thing and it’s just so draining.
