"Breathe, sweetie," Elizabeth chuckled. "Do you think he would like to come over and play some time?" 

"Yes! I'm gonna ask him right now!" Kurt squealed as he ran off calling out for Blaine, leaving Elizabeth to watch fondly how the two boys ran to each other and hugged tightly.

[Preview] New Fic: True Colors.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

I’m very happy to bring you a teaser of my upcoming fic. Some of you might know that I’ve been trying to work through a list of tropes that I’ve never written before, and although this is a popular one, I’ve never quite managed to find the time or the right idea to work on it, until now.

True Colors is a soulmate fic. I’ve always been sort of charmed by the thought of soulmates, so I’m glad I finally had the chance to write this story. It’s not a very long story (currently working on the last chapter, which is 9), but it’s already very dear to me, so I hope you will enjoy it.

The first chapter of True Colors will be posted on February 15th, and it will update every Wednesday.

The two initials were embedded in the skin, a mixture that seemed like half a scar and half a tattoo. They felt nice to the touch, smooth but unmissable, the soft skin of the inner wrist interrupted by its relief.

And what a word to describe it – relief. As Kurt Hummel traced the letters over and over again, blue eyes fixed on them, he thought what a relief it must be, to know someone out there belonged to you and you belonged to them, unmistakably.

Equally blue eyes were staring down at him as his little fingers, once again, began to trace the shape of the B on her wrist. “You really like that, don’t you?” His mother asked. Her voice was almost musical, Kurt thought. Like all it lacked was some background melody to be a perfect song.

“Yes,” Kurt said. “When do I get mine?” He added, though he knew the answer because he had asked this same question a million times before.

Elizabeth Hummel smiled anyway, and ran her fingers through her little boy’s hair. “Not until you’re sixteen, baby.”

“Will it hurt when it does?” Kurt frowned. Tattoos were made with needles, he knew. They had to be painful. And if this looked just like a tattoo…

“No,” she said simply. “It won’t. You will just wake up one day and it’ll be there. You might not even notice it at first, because it’s going to be white, just like a scar.”

“But yours is red,” Kurt said, and he once again traced the initials on his mother’s wrist. “Because you love daddy.”

She nodded, sure and full of a kind of quiet joy that made her glow. “Yes, I do.”

It was such a confusing thing for a seven-year-old Kurt Hummel – was it magic, that made the marks appear on the skin? How was it possible that they changed colors on their own, just like that, when you found the person you were destined to be with, when you fell in love with them? But it happened, his mother reassured him time and time again. It was white at first, then yellow when you crossed paths, then orange when you actually met them and finally red, when you fell in love. That was the part Kurt was looking forward to the most.

He tried to imagine what it would be like. Maybe it would happen at school, or at the park. Maybe Kurt would be sitting there, minding his own business and, out of nowhere, someone would walk into a room and his heart would stop and everything around him would freeze, and he would feel a little tickle in his wrist as the initials there changed colors. He imagined it would be life-changing, breathtaking, a moment he would never be able to forget.

“I can’t wait to meet the boy I’m going to love forever,” he muttered dreamily, as he let his head fall on his mom’s shoulder.

She seemed to stiffen for a moment, and a little gasp left her, but before he could even look up at her face, she was wrapping her arms around him, almost too tightly, holding him like there was nothing else she would rather be doing. He felt her press a quick little kiss to the top of his head – he loved it when she did that.

“I’m sure he’s going to be wonderful,” she whispered, a slight tremor in her voice that Kurt was too happy to notice, as he snuggled further into his mother’s embrace, surrounded by the scent of her perfume – the smell of home.

Week 6 of the @gleedrabbleblog!

This weeks prompt: Hero

I have so many feels about this prompt, we'll see if I manage to write some of them down this week 🤞🏻

Warning: this is a sad one and I made myself cry while writing it 🙈 Extensive headcanons and full song lyrics will be under the break for those interested ♡

"What's that?" Blaine asked while cleaning out old storage boxes. 

"I'm not sure," Kurt says, holding up a VHS tape. "It only has a date on it from just weeks before mom died." 

"We'll watch it together then."

The video opens on Burt pulling an exhausted looking Elizabeth to her feet as music plays softly in the background. He gently cradles her in his arms and they slowly dance across the living room. 

"Did you ever know that you're my hero?" She sings out in a shaky, but beautiful voice. "I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings."

"Blaine, I–" Kurt chokes out with a sob. 

"I know love, c'mere," he says, holding his husband tight. 

Now technically, this is 123 words, but 23 of them are song lyrics, so I'm counting it as 100. It would have killed the story to edit away even more ;) ♡

While I firmly believe Kurt's mum was called Elizabeth, I am a bit more ambivalent about how she actually died. In this case its from an unspecified disease that means they knew her earthly end was coming.

Kurt was too young to fully grasp the enormity of it all, so they gave him a videocamera for his birthday so he could capture as many memories as possible, knowing he'd appreciate it later on.

Anything Kurt does, he wants to do well, and tiny lil' Kurt the videographer wasn't any different. Imagine him walking around with his camera glued to his hand 24/7 and you get the picture.

I imagine adult Klaine being somewhere in their late 20's. They are wildly successful and just moved to their first real family home in preparation for the arrival of little Feta. Cue cleaning out storage and bringing over some stuff from Lima now they have the space for it.

This makes it about 20ish years since he made that video, so no wonder Kurt doesn't remember it. He's been fairly emotional for a while, and very focused on (found) family ties and legacy. Any parents reading this might recognise these pregnancy symptoms ;)

There is a lot more that I could tell about this, so maybe one day I'll write it all out in a short fic 😊

Also, I never knew it till I went to write this drabble, but I now firmly believe that this is secretly what Kurt associates with his 'It's got Bette Midler' tattoo ♥️

I've decided to rewrite/update some of my old Klaine fics and I wanted to know what names everyone thinks Kurt and Blaine would name their children?

For a bit of backstory, when I first started to write my 150 chapter Klaine-family fic, I was 13 and started it in the middle of the hiatus between seasons 2 and 3 - I ended up using one of my nicknames for their daughter as at the time I had no clue (so she was Megan "Meggie" Elizabeth Hummel-Anderson). Now I'm older and (hopefully) more developed as a writer, I'd like to maybe use a more fitting name if possible (and it feels a little weird typing my own name into a fanfic), but I frankly have no idea what name I could use.

I'd really like if the first name went with "Elizabeth" as a middle name as in my fic "Elizabeth" is to honor Kurt's mom. I'm also open to suggestions for their son (I used Liam at the time, which I still like tbh)
