could i perhaps ask what brush(es) youve been using in your work recently? specifically for lineart; or if you use some kind of effect to get that specific look? totally cool if you cant say for whatever reason or dont wanna give it out, just thought i'd ask ^_^

I usually use the default photoshop soft round brush :-)

Theres not much of a line (no pun intended) between my sketches and lineart these days I usually start very rough and just keep redrawing over the last sketch on a new layer until I decide it's neat enough to color. Sometimes that only takes one or two passes but sometimes it takes more. After that I use a new layer on multiply with a different color to darken parts of the lines I want to emphasize and clip a lighter color over areas I want to make more faint

Shared Anniversary for The Crow & My Renewed Vows with My Crow 🤍

So ... apparently May 13th is the release date of The Crow 🐦‍⬛ in the USA? I thought it had been May 11th, from a Facebook post a few years ago, but Micky @octobernocturne sent me an anniversary post from a Goth page on it being today. What's an amazing serendipity is that in 2022 today had been a Friday the 13th, and me and Karasu-sama, my Crow 🐦‍⬛, renewed our vows right after Mels Jr and Little Caesar had been born the day before (happy belated Life-day to the twins again). 🤍

The Crow 🐦‍⬛ with Brandon Lee as Eric Draven and Sofia Shinas as Shelly Webster (you can see where the names for our children come from) is our personal special movie as it paralleled events in my imaginary world and depressive psychosis the first time we watched it. We have a La Belle et la Bête relationship, where he is redeemed and he is thus now also my Eric Draven and I am his Shelly. 🤍 I also grew up around the corner from Webster St and now I know one of our anniversaries happens to fall on the anniversary of The Crow's 🐦‍⬛ release date, how sweet! Two more of those romantic fate things for me and my Crow 🐦‍⬛ again! =^///^= 🤍 Two prominent ones being Karasu-sama's Japanese voice actor Ryo Horikawa and Brandon Lee share a bday, while Karasu-sama chose March 31st as his own bday which is the death date of Brandon Lee which I hadn't known at the time.

This is my tribute to Karasu-sama 🐦‍⬛ where I also keep our The Crow 🐦‍⬛ DVD (and various other keepsakes such as (Atsushi) Sakurai Drops, the candy by Acchan the frontman of BUCK-TICK who is my visual muse for Karasu-sama as well as the one our Halloween 🎃 baby boy Atsushi Love 💕 was named after, and Karasu-sama's English voice actor Kyle Hebert's autograph from a mutual). Last year we went to see The Crow 🐦‍⬛ in theatres, the re-release of the original movie with Brandon Lee; twas an amazing day! I'm happy we got to see it in theatres together with our Little Crow Goblins, our helpers/friends, and my brother Micky. =^.^= 🤍

Hi anon!! Thank you for this message! Sorry it took a little while for me to reply

For drawing I mainly use photoshop! I also use clip studio paint, but atm it's mostly to create 3d references when I need them

As for brushes, it really depends on the drawing....but the ones I use the most are the just the default round and 'chalk/charcoal' brushes with little tweaks and different levels of opacity

'Ello, I just wanted to come on here to say how much I LOVE your brush-work (is that a word lol?)

Crayon or Pencil-like lines that aren't always opaque all the way and are a little more sketchy sometimes are probably some of my favourite :D

Also, your style is just really cool and nice anyway, but I wanted to give a shout out specifically to your based brush choice!

yessss i love traditional textures in digital art, thank you :> i use kyle t webster's brushes for photoshop and I've never found brushes that better emulate certain real-life textures. man's a wizard, i dunno how he does it. i use his tiltiriffic 2015 brush for basically everything short of merch and anything i want to have really thick lines, it's a delightful brush and it feels so natural to work with.

i heard advice somewhere that people tend to resonate more with art that looks like it was hand drawn, you want small imperfections in your coloring and lineart, you don't want everything to be perfect. i really resonate with that, i think there's a certain element to sketchy pencil lines and messy paint and kraft paper textures that you could call, appropriately... cozy :)c

anyway if anyone would like to know what brushes i use and what i use them for they are under the cut with examples 👍

hopefully this image can be blown up if you click on it :') the only brushes that aren't featured are the ones i got from the free sample pack from true grit texture supply, i use their craft paper textures for most things as well and one of their building grain shader brushes for like, noise gradients. if any of y'all have a photoshop subscription you can download his brushes for free, i highly recommend checking them out! they are THE coolest brushes i've ever used (And boy I've gone through a lot of brushes in my time). if your drawing tablet does not have pressure or tilt sensitivity though your mileage will vary, tilteriffic did not work on my brothers tablet because it couldn't pick up what angle my stylus was at.
