“Gold coin for your thoughts, my Queen?”

Sylvia snapped out of her reverie, riding atop her partner Khorvath’s back. She reached down and patted his scales with a gauntleted hand, completely unfazed by the opponents’ attacks sailing past her in the sky above Valor’s Reach.

“I’m afraid not, friend,” Sylvia sighed. “Not unless you can do something about our own fans, in the stands.”

“What about them? Do they trouble you, my Queen?”

Khorvath’s tone became incredibly soft in the space left by Sylvia’s silence. His wingbeats also slowed, while still avoiding the spells and arrows coming from the ground.

“What is it, my love?”

“Listen. To the crowd.”

Khorvath waited and listened. The crowd cheered his name over and over again.

“They cheer for us.”

“For you!” Sylvia snapped. “It’s not your fault but, you’re…you! The dragon! I’m just the knight standing next to you.”

“Atop me, technically.”

Though Khorvath could not see Sylvia’s glare, the knight’s silence told him everything he needed to know.

“Well…if it’s any consolation, I do hear one voice cheering your name.”

“You don’t need to make me feel better.”

“No, really! Listen…Oh, wait. Human hearing. I’ll fly us down!”

Khorvath leaned into a nosedive. The wind buffeted Sylvia fiercely, but she seemed more troubled by her thoughts than the turbulence. Soon she and her partner floated close above the stands.

“All right. Who…oh!”

“Yes! He’s even dressed like you!”

In the front row, a goblin cheered louder than anyone else around him, wearing a mimic of Sylvia’s helmet. And sure enough, he was chanting her name.

“Thank you, Khorvath-” Sylvia instinctively leaned backward, dodging a stray bolt of magic. “Right! Enough self-pity. We have a match to win!”

Khorvath nodded dutifully, swerving back towards the fight. The maneuver earned another round of cheers from the stands. And again, the loudest of all was the goblin in the front row.

So I have been hearing about this fighting tournament from some of the gang. I think I'm going to join.

Will give me the chance to hone my skills against new styles and techniques I have not seen.

Now that the Omenpaths have opened the Multiverse to travelers, I really want to see Kylem in a Standard set. Perhaps show the people of Kylem building out other forms of entertainment. After the Phyrexian Invasion, though, who knows what could happen. Prior to the invasion, the Elves were pretty much in charge of the plane. The Azra could take control of Valor's Reach and throw any off-world visitors in the arena. I really want the characters from Battlebond to be fleshed out. Maybe Kylem will be the third plane that "Death Race" takes place on?

I'm interested, but what's the schedule? When does it start? I'd have to figure out travel times too, I don't know a route to Kylem offpaw.

So weapons are useless then. Not much of a point in swinging a sword at someone if they have complete protection from it.

I am proud to announce a new season of 2v2 deathgames* at valor's reach!

The game is good old 2v2 combat.

Anyone can join, top 8 is broadcast to the multiverse, narrated by yours truly.

Now, why should you join? We have a truly monumental collection of prizes here, there are moxes, warships, pure knowledge, and even our very own interpretation of an aetherspark!

Teams consist of two people, with a possibility of having one "swap-out" member.

Drowning, boiling, exploding, bodywarping of opponents and any form of long lasting mental magic will result in immediate disqualification along with a ban from all kylem official tournaments.

*Only a title, no death will be involved. Any spells resulting in death will be immediately neutralised by referees, anyone competing gains complete protection from weapons for the duration of the tournament

I don't know what it is, but this is the most awkward official mechanic I've yet seen.

We arrived

We did it, we finnally arrived to Kylem.

The cooker and doctor of our crews, are accompanying Keiran, to ressuply our resources. (We will see how much we can take of Squidboy`s credit card)

We soon found the route to the training ground, so I will spend time tyring to learn the trick of @brazenswashbuckler and her fighting style.

“What’s the most you ever lost on a coin toss?”

“What?”

Okaun’s opponents paused upon hearing the berserker’s booming voice ask such a curious question in such a subdued tone. The foes - a pair of compleated vampires - lowered their daggers, much to the dismay of the crowd in the reconstructed stands around them. Ferocious boos bombarded the undead for pausing the violence, before the homunculus standing on Okaun’s shoulder began to shout over the ruckus:

“Don’t mind him!” Zndrsplt yelled dismissively. “He’s got some pop culture from an omenpath on the brain, is all. Let’s just keep fighting.”

The Phyrexians looked to each other, shrugged in perfect unison, and raised their weapons once more. The crowd’s mood improved, but before the pair could continue their assault they were stymied by yet another growling taunt.

“Call it.”

Again the vampires stopped in their tracks, and again the crowd grew furious. This time, however, most of the vitriol was being hurled at Okaun, and Zndrsplt, incidentally.

“Call what?” the vampires asked together.

Zndrsplt hung her head. “A ridiculous coin toss-”

“Call it.”

Okaun raised an oversized coin in his massive hand. The vampires found themselves unnerved as the metal spun through the air and landed back in the cyclops’s hand, faces hidden from view.

“Call it.”

“…All right. Heads, then.”

Okaun moved his hand to reveal the picture of a sideways-facing head.

“Well done.” grumbled Okaun, confusing the vampires even further.

“What would have happened if we lost?”

“He would have smashed you-”

“Everything.”

“But now he’s going to throw the match.”

“Oh.”

[Headcanon: although I’m picturing compleated Bloodborn Scoundrels here, I like to think the Etched Host was the primary group attacking Kylem. It’s a neat picture to paint; Phyrexian gladiators and pit fighters seeing themselves in the competitors, and being kinda culture shocked to see a much less cutthroat version of their own thing!]

Sure! Kylem has a pretty stable connection to Avishkar, which is quite well connected, so a route can be sent pretty easily, Echoir and Antausia seem pretty isolated though. Only a few non-walker people I’ve interviewed have heard of them.

I’ll see if I can look out for a path there, or if you could describe their planar resonances (or let me take a peek into your mind) I could use that to scope it out starting from the destination.

There should be some coordinates for the Kylem trip (alongside my discounted rate for the scouting to the other two) about 17 meters southeast of you as you read this.

🔎: if there’s any planes you particularly miss, I can maybe get you a hefty discount on some omenpath schedules to get there. Least I can do for a desparked walker.

OH MY GOODNESS!! I just saw this, sorry for the delay in answering, but I would LOVE to maybe be able to spend a weekend on Kylem or Antausia again!!! Maybe Echoir too? Such lovely places this time of year!

Hello Ruby, I sent you this message to inform you on your questions and notices for the kylem death games. Conjured weapons should be fine, though I heavily advise stopping by one of the warden stations beforehand to have them doublecheck the legality of your exact type of summon.

As for "ninja shenanigans", could you elaborate on what exactly that entails?

Thanks for the information on conjured weapons, I'll be sure to ask the wardens before the games although I don't use preconjured weapons with might complicate things v_v.

As for "ninja shenanigans" you would have to ask Azzie (one @azzie-beastbinder ) and/or Zenkuro (unfortunately no presence on here as I am aware), although I could imagine very specialized weapons could be a part of it?

Ravnica has Green/White Elves in the Selesnya Conclave.

Kylem is also known for Green- and White-aligned Elves who financially support the tournaments at Valor's Reach.

Still, it would be cool to see more depictions of White-aligned and/or High Elves in Magic!

(Psst... Can we also get an Abzan Elf-typal commander, please? ; ) )

If or when? a set where Elves are white alingned high elves instead of green alingned wood elves and black alingned dark elves.
