so loud without a sound at all
Wataru nudges Nobuhiko's side with his elbow, leaning over to peer at his plate. "Not hungry?"
Nobuhiko lifts his coffee mug and shoves the plate over to Wataru. "You can have it."
Wataru looks between the plate and Nobuhiko, a frown pulling at his lips. "Everything okay?"
"Why wouldn't it be?" Nobuhiko takes a sip of his coffee, giving Wataru a tired look. The coffee is bitter and burnt, but the caffeine is well-needed

A request for initial d Keisuke where reader has a crush on him but hasn’t confessed and is jealous of kiyoko. The reason behind reader’s jealousy can be anything like not being a racer—up to you. Keep up the good work :)
Keisuke Takahashi with Reader who's Jealous of Kyoko
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n: Side note, I actually love Kyoko so bad!! But I also adore these jealousy and bitter reader type stories bcuz I knowww if I was into initial d when I was in middle school, I'd totally hate Kyoko for being so into Keisuke 😭 Anyways, enjoy! Feel free to send in more requests, everyone :33

You’d always admired Keisuke Takahashi. His determination, his skill on the touge, and that fiery passion he brought to every race—there was something undeniably captivating about him. But what started as simple admiration had grown into a crush, one that left you flustered and tongue-tied whenever you were around him. It would have been easier to confess, to get those feelings off your chest, if not for one person: Kyoko Iwase.
Kyoko was everything you weren’t. She was confident, skilled, and shared the same intense love for racing that Keisuke did. You’d seen the way she looked at him, the way her eyes lit up whenever she talked about him. It was clear that Kyoko adored him, and the worst part was that she was talented enough to be his equal. She was a formidable driver, and that made your insecurities flare up.
How could you, someone who was just starting to get a handle on the racing world, ever compare to someone like Kyoko? She had lent her car to Keisuke during a critical race, and in return, he’d taken her out on a date. That knowledge gnawed at you, making it hard to believe you had any chance at all.
You found yourself at one of Project D’s practice sessions, standing on the sidelines as you watched Keisuke fine-tune his FD. He was focused, as always, but you couldn’t help but notice the faint smile tugging at his lips when he finished adjusting something under the hood. You bit your lip, feeling that familiar pang of jealousy. What was he thinking about? Was it Kyoko?
“Hey, you alright?”
You snapped out of your thoughts, looking up to see Keisuke standing in front of you, wiping his hands on a rag. His intense green eyes were studying you with a mix of curiosity and concern.
“Y-Yeah, I’m fine,” you stammered, trying to muster a smile.
He raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. “You sure? You’ve been quiet today.”
“I’m always quiet,” you tried to joke, but it fell flat, your nerves getting the better of you.
Keisuke didn’t laugh, but he did take a step closer, his expression softening. “You’re more quiet than usual. What’s on your mind?”
You wanted to say it, to tell him everything, but the words wouldn’t come out. Instead, you just shook your head, staring at the ground. “Nothing. I’m just… thinking.”
“About what?”
You sighed, feeling the weight of your feelings pressing down on you. “About how you’ve been doing lately… with Project D and all. It must be stressful.”
He looked at you for a long moment, as if trying to read between the lines of what you were saying. Finally, he gave a small nod. “It is, but I can handle it. I’ve got a good team.”
“Yeah, you do,” you agreed, forcing another smile. “Kyoko’s pretty amazing, huh? Lending you her car like that… not everyone would do that.”
Keisuke’s expression shifted, a flicker of something unreadable passing through his eyes. “She’s… dedicated, that’s for sure.”
You nodded, swallowing the lump in your throat. “You must think pretty highly of her.”
He didn’t respond right away, and for a moment, you thought maybe you’d overstepped. But then he sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Kyoko’s a good person, and a great driver. But that’s all there is to it.”
You blinked, surprised by his bluntness. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, I respect her for what she’s done for me and the team, but that’s where it ends. I’ve got my priorities, and she understands that. There’s nothing more between us.”
His words were straightforward, and while they should have reassured you, they left you feeling conflicted. If he wasn’t interested in Kyoko, then why did you still feel like you were competing against her? Why couldn’t you just tell him how you felt?
Keisuke must have noticed your inner turmoil because he suddenly stepped even closer, his voice dropping to a softer tone. “Listen, I don’t know what’s going on in that head of yours, but if there’s something you need to say, just say it. I’m not a mind reader, you know.”
You bit your lip, your heart pounding in your chest. This was your chance, the perfect opening to finally confess, but the fear of rejection, of not being good enough, held you back.
“I… I just wanted to say that you’re doing great,” you finally managed, hating how weak your voice sounded. “You’ve improved so much since Project D started. I’m proud of you.”
Keisuke blinked, clearly taken aback by your words. For a moment, he just stared at you, and you wondered if you’d said something wrong. But then, a small, genuine smile spread across his lips, one that made your heart skip a beat.
“Thanks. That… means a lot,” he said, his voice sincere.
You nodded, trying to keep your emotions in check. “Just… keep doing your best, okay?”
“I will,” he promised, his smile lingering as he looked at you. “And you do the same.”
As he turned to walk back to his FD, you watched him go, a mixture of relief and frustration swirling inside you.
After Keisuke walked away, you let out a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding. You had managed to talk to him without completely falling apart, but you still couldn’t shake the feeling of inadequacy. Kyoko was still in the back of your mind, even though Keisuke had assured you there was nothing more between them.
For the rest of the practice session, you tried to focus on the task at hand, helping out where you could and cheering on the team. But your thoughts kept drifting back to Keisuke, and the way he’d looked at you when you’d told him you were proud of him.
As the sun began to set, casting a warm golden glow over the mountains, the team started wrapping up for the day. You were packing up some equipment when you felt a presence behind you. You turned around to see Keisuke, his hands shoved in his pockets as he looked at you with an unreadable expression.
“Hey, you heading out soon?” he asked, his tone casual.
“Yeah, just finishing up here,” you replied, trying to keep your voice steady. “What about you?”
He shrugged, glancing off toward the horizon. “I was thinking about taking a drive. Clear my head, you know?”
You nodded, understanding. Keisuke often did that after a long day, using the winding roads to unwind. “Sounds like a good idea.”
“Come with me,” he said suddenly, his gaze locking onto yours.
You blinked, surprised by the invitation. “What?”
“Come with me,” he repeated, more firmly this time. “I want to talk to you about something.”
Your heart started racing again, but this time for a different reason. The way he was looking at you, with that intense, focused expression—it felt like he had something important to say. Unable to find the words to respond, you just nodded.
Without another word, Keisuke led you to his FD. You climbed into the passenger seat, feeling the familiar hum of the engine beneath you as he started the car. The drive was quiet at first, the two of you surrounded by the soft sounds of the engine and the wind rushing past. Keisuke was focused on the road, but you could tell he was thinking hard about something.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he pulled off to a secluded spot overlooking the mountains. The view was breathtaking, with the last light of the day casting a warm glow over the landscape. But you could hardly focus on the scenery, not with Keisuke sitting beside you, his presence filling the car with a tension you couldn’t quite place.
He cut the engine, and for a few moments, neither of you said anything. The silence was almost deafening, and you could feel your nerves building with each passing second. Finally, Keisuke turned to face you, his green eyes serious.
“You’ve been acting strange lately,” he said, his voice low and controlled. “And I’ve been trying to figure out why.”
You opened your mouth to protest, but he held up a hand, stopping you.
“Let me finish,” he said, his tone gentle but firm. “I know something’s been bothering you, and I think I know what it is.”
Your heart pounded in your chest as you waited for him to continue, the weight of the moment pressing down on you.
“You’ve been worried about Kyoko, haven’t you?” he asked, his gaze piercing through you. “You think I’m still interested in her, don’t you?”
Your breath caught in your throat, and for a moment, you couldn’t find the words to respond. How had he seen through you so easily? You looked away, ashamed of your jealousy, but Keisuke reached out, gently turning your face back to him.
“Look, Kyoko’s a great driver and a good person, but I made it clear to her a long time ago that I’m not interested in anything more than friendship,” he said, his voice earnest. “And I’m not. She’s in the past.”
You swallowed hard, your emotions swirling inside you. “But… she’s so much more talented than I am. I can’t help but feel like I don’t measure up.”
Keisuke frowned, his expression softening as he shook his head. “That’s where you’re wrong. You’re not Kyoko, and that’s exactly why you stand out to me. You’re you, and that’s enough.”
Your eyes widened, and you felt a warmth spreading through your chest at his words. “Keisuke…”
He took a deep breath, as if steeling himself for something. “The truth is, I’ve been holding back because I didn’t want to distract myself or you from what we’re doing with Project D. But seeing you so down, thinking you’re not enough… I can’t keep quiet anymore.”
Your heart skipped a beat as his gaze intensified, and you felt the air in the car shift, the tension turning into something else—something deeper.
“I like you,” he confessed, his voice firm and steady. “And I don’t want there to be any misunderstandings between us. I’ve liked you for a while now, and I don’t care how good of a driver Kyoko is. She’s not the one I want. You are.”
You stared at him, your mind reeling with his words. The confession you’d been so afraid to make had just come from him instead, and it felt almost surreal.
“I… I don’t know what to say,” you finally whispered, your voice shaky.
“Then don’t say anything,” Keisuke said, a small, nervous smile tugging at his lips. “Just tell me if you feel the same.”
For a moment, you couldn’t believe this was happening. All the doubts, the jealousy, the fear—it all seemed to fade away as you looked into his eyes, seeing nothing but sincerity and hope.
“I do,” you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. “I’ve liked you for a long time too, but I was scared…”
“Scared of what?” he asked gently.
“Of not being good enough. Of losing to someone like Kyoko.”
Keisuke shook his head, reaching out to take your hand in his. “You’re more than good enough. And I’m glad you told me how you feel because now there’s nothing stopping us from figuring this out together.”
The warmth of his hand in yours, the way he looked at you—it was enough to make your heart swell with happiness. You nodded, finally letting yourself believe that maybe, just maybe, this could work.
Keisuke squeezed your hand gently, a smile spreading across his face. “So… what do you say we give this a shot?”
You smiled back, feeling the weight of your insecurities lift off your shoulders.
“Yeah, I’d like that.”

A Kyoko State of Mind (The Togetsu Hip Hop)
Yeah, yeah
Ayo, Yamate, it's time.
It's time, Yamate (aight, Yamate, begin).
Straight out the Yuuki dungeons of rap.
The snake drops deep as does my Honda.
I never Nanahoshi, 'cause to Nanahoshi is the Aipon of anaconda.
Beyond the walls of Iwase, life is defined.
I think of Kirigiri when I'm in a Kyoko state of mind.
Hope the wanda got some anaconda.
My fonda don't like no dirty luanda.
Run up to the uganda and get the rwanda.
In a Kyoko state of mind.
What more could you ask for? The Sakura snake?
You complain about Hoin.
I gotta love it though - somebody still speaks for the lake.
I'm rappin' to the fox,
And I'm gonna move your clocks.
Okitegami, Sasagawa, Ozaki, like a cat
Boy, I tell you, I thought you were a bat.
I can't take the Hoin, can't take the Hori.
I woulda tried to Aimi I guess I got no story.
I'm rappin' to the clocks,
And I'm gonna move your fox.
Yea, yaz, in a Kyoko state of mind.
When I was young my Aipon had a quarry.
I waz kicked out without no allegory.
I never thought I'd see that mandatory.
Ain't a soul alive that could take my Aipon's glory.
A Shirafugi map is quite the trap.
Thinking of Kirigiri. Yaz, thinking of Kirigiri (Kirigiri).
