So, About How Jonah Argentum was Born? (2/8)

Last time, it was revealed that Jonah has some influence from Peter Parker. Now, let me show you one more character Jonah was inspired from and this particular character is relevant to the captain's action in Octavinelle Arc...

Kyousuke Natsume (Little Busters!)

"If the world is full of things we never wanted to know, is our only option to look away? To won't solve anything by running away." - Kyousuke Natsume to Riki Naoe, Little Busters! episode 6

Kyousuke, and the anime Little Busters! in general, has a really big impact throughout my writing days. I love every character in that anime and Kyousuke is the best big brother anyone can ever get.

That Leadership and Influences

It was no surprise where I get the idea of Jonah's leadership from, especially during Twisted, Twisted, Shooting Stars. Both Kyousuke and Jonah were ready to take any of those mundane tasks and changed it into some sort of epic adventure. They recruited most of the members, at least the original Little Busters and Shooting Stars, and became the one that kept them stable. When Kyousuke is in his lowest point during Little Busters! Refrain, the gang was disbanded. When Jonah disappeared and has his amnesia, the rest of the gang was falling apart.

Both Kyousuke and Jonah also become an influence to others. Kyousuke becomes a role model for Riki Naoe (the main character) who later becomes more confident, recruit more new members for their baseball club, succeeding him as the new leader of Little Busters. Meanwhile, throughout TW:OPT, Jonah manages to gain a soft spot in nearly everyone's heart, making him closer than the relationship in canon. The most notable one is Riddle who changes so much from the canon because of his care toward Jonah.

That Sense of Protectiveness

Both Kyousuke and Jonah are rather protective toward their members of the group. In Little Busters! when the gang was caught in a bus crash, Kyousuke was somehow managed to save them, transferring Riki and his little sister, Rin, to an imaginary world to prepare them mentally for the harsh reality of all of their friends died in the bus crash, including him who snuck in, also using his whole body to block the leaking fuel, delaying the explosion. Because of this, Riki and Rin didn't fall into despair but got back up to save their entire class and Kyousuke from death.

Jonah, especially in The Merchant of the Deep Sea, constantly put himself in various conflicts against Azul which pushed him to into various instances of near-death by drowning, all of those were done to save Ace, Deuce, and Grim. Now, this might be similar to canon, however the tension is different and has a higher stake: not just Ramshackle Dorm, but his own free-will. Both leaders are willing to risk everything in their power to save their beloved members.

Little Busters! in particular, influenced me in various aspects of storytelling. The term Common Route and Character Route is something I used often, not really seen in TW:OPT since canon already prepared the Episodes.

The term 'Secret of the World' also comes from this anime. The world of Little Busters! is supposed to be a normal world but it turns out to be imaginary. I often use this term in world-building.

And the music is just so good... All Key's VNs and their adaptations have wonderful music.
