I genuinely love working in a laboratory with animals. The mice and rats are just so endearing. I work primarily in a mouse room and they're so empty headed 💕💕 They don't think 💕💕. They're My Guys its MY job to take care of them and keep them safe and Yes I would do anything for these little smooth brained freaks I love them they are my small friends

Re-drew the rat on the door to my rat room at work. My rats moved to this new room several months ago and I hadn't had a chance to "decorate" until now lol

A Rough End for the Week

I was bitten by a mouse yesterday, which was Friday, in a week from hell during which I have been expected to a) take on someone else’s job and b) train an undergrad with very limited available hours to help me. 

In fairness, the mouse ended up dead for scientific reasons, so I can’t fault it too much, but I hadn’t actually done anything to it when it bit me.  

I had to file a Workman’s Comp claim and get my bite examined at the Employee Clinic in the event that the wound gets infected, but it was early enough in the day that the clinic was open so I didn’t have to spend hours in the emergency room to be told to put neosporin on it.

(Despite the furry vengeance, it’s doing better today and was probably only as swollen as it was because it was on the back of my hand.)

After returning from the clinic, I opted to get a hot chocolate at the campus Starbucks and mentioned it was ‘one of those days’.  The very nice people at Starbucks gave me my drink for free.  It was fabulous and I took 20  minutes for myself before I went back to work (for an 11 hour day)  I will have to do something nice for the Starbucks people.

I swear I thought Instagram was gonna be overloaded with stupid stuff but I'm actually finding amazing tattoo artists and learning about politics on there. We’re taking blood samples from some rats and since it’s such a small amount, when we spin it to collect the plasma we have to use a micropipetter to draw it up and I feel so sciency up in this bitch!
