God, he hasn't gotten it in so long that it's hard to figure it out lol. Uuhhhh honestly tho, trust is a big thing he looks for since sex is a pretty damn vulnerable situation to be in, especially when you're not particularly strong. Beyond that, probably not someone that's too vanilla to the point of not trying different things now and again as well. He'd probably get bored I think.

🌈 - Sexual fantasies?

He.. sighs.. he has definitely thought about fucking in his lab and like, pushing work things out of the way, being too preoccupied to bother cleaning things up properly. Lab safety and breaking vials be damned.

And ofc taking notes / looking into his research papers while fucking someone as if it's nbd is also a thing he thinks about and has done something similar to before asdkgjdf.

Jewels tends to be fairly quiet on most occasions, but if he's riled up quite a bit prior and is comfortable with his partner then he's more likely to be a lil' noisy.

If you want a Straightforward/Basic answer Casual shows of strength.. Highbloods in general... having a really good smirk can really get him in the proper context also-- he hates it but he loves a smirk, regardless of the quad.

To be fair he's more of a personality based guy, but those're all bonuses

🍸 - Do they have any methods of courtship for getting people into bed?

I don't think he ever really goes into things with the game plan of getting some fuck tbh, since he's so anxious and used to be Very self-conscious because of his wing scars.

However, I think if he was going to try to get someone into bed with him.. hm... he can honestly be a pretty bold flirt when he's in the mood, so that would probably be his tip-off/invitation if he felt that he'd have a chance.

Deus Vocatus vs. Inmortalitas

Brief overview of Inmortalitas: I discovered Marathon in 2008, then returned to it in 2015 and did AU stuff. So much AU stuff, that by the time Deus Vocatus was created, roughly 80% of it could be transferred over with almost no changes...and in hindsight, maybe an extensive AU attached to an obscure FPS trilogy that’s practically a whole novel unto itself, plus bringing in fan scenarios, was a bad idea as far as “getting non-fans to check it out”. :U

(Disclaimer: I do wanna keep Inm. around, just massively scaled back.)

GENERAL:

* Most of the character designs were my own; Marathon never shows us the Security Officer’s face, or what avatars Tycho, Leela, and Thoth might’ve had (Durandal is shown with a floating green face all of once). Same goes for the fan scenarios that I integrated, like Rubicon. 

Of the original Rozies: Vince, Enzo, Dante (Durandal), Lovelace, Erik Haller, Charlie, Sandy (Lysander), Raz (Rasputin), and Oline (Oliphant) transferred over. Joyeuse and Precieuse (both fan characters) went to Pyro Heart and became Jiangsu and Pitaya; Zaelnil (also a fan character, with a planned connection to Bungie’s other big pre-Halo thing, Myth) got plonked into Lycanomantic.

Vince was originally the Security Officer, and as encouraged by the games themselves, I wrote his backstory and personality nearly from scratch. Same goes for Enzo, who was meant to be the present-day incarnation of the Dark One (a mysterious entity from one of Marathon 2’s most cryptic terminals; her nemesis was the “Eternal Hero”, i.e. Vince).

* The UESC and its terrestrial counterpart, the UEG, became the Terran Alliance, with Mars and the Asteroid States retaining more or less the same relationships to it. The Jovian Republic, Philemon, Zeta Reticula as it’s presented, and Rumina were my own creations, along with the dryad-and-sporian planet, Geodesia.

(Albeit, Philemon wasn’t named that until DV, and was actually an alternate-timeline Earth--long story)

* The primary villains of Marathon, the Pfhor Empire, got their own parallel here, though “imperialist space empire that’s enslaved countless planets” is about as far as the similarities go.

* Android vessels for AIs were not a thing in Marathon; that was something I made for ease of visible character interaction. In Inmortalitas, AIs would typically be activated in the network first, then be given the option to transfer to an android body. In Deus Vocatus, the idea that an android could be a “vessel” for an AI is within the realm of possibility but otherwise unheard of; the two are regarded as separate concepts, and androids are activated in their own bodies.

* Marathon gives us hints on a now-disappeared progenitor race, the Jjaro, who--had Halo remained connected to Marathon’s universe--would’ve been revealed as advanced ancient humans. Their counterparts in DV are the Protogenoi (or just “the Genoi”, as they call themselves).

* Bernhard Strauss, abusive creator of the Marathon’s three AIs, got a simple given name change to “Bertram”. The organization he was confirmed as part of (many years after the fact), MIDA, is called LADNAH here.

ALTERED:

* Vince in Inm. had plenty of angst, but was on the whole happier and better-adjusted. Vince in DV is struggling even harder with his mental health and rarely smiles.

* Enzo, in Inm., was almost purely an antagonist and remained so for much longer.

* Dante’s personality shift is...a bit complicated. I’d characterized Durandal as a fair bit softer than in canon, though mostly in regards to his crew (Vince especially); with Dante, I put way more emphasis on that, though he can still be real snarky when he feels like it.

* Haller, in Rubicon, is a wetware-based AI; in Inm., he was a wetware-based Catholic AIndroid who was also a UESC assassin. In DV, Erik Haller is a Catholic cyborg of a generation in-between second and third, and also a Terran Alliance assassin.

* Sandy’s introduction is planned to play out differently from how it did in Inm., which in turn was altered from Rubicon.

BROUGHT IN FROM ELSEWHERE:

* Angelus was originally created for the “vampire AU” that, in turn, eventually became Sappihrite Nights. He was a friend of Dante/Durandal there, too, though they met much later before a short-lived revision; I liked him enough to find places for him in other sub-AUs, and come DV just made him one of the main characters.

* Speaking of proto-Sapphirite: Romulus, Remus, their cyborg wives, Romulus’s assistant Tea Rose, Buchanan and Omria, and one of the Puer Astralae (Juventas) were from there, too. This was before I actually made SN, mind, but I’m not sure everyone would’ve stayed.

* Gisela, Garth, and Holly are from a sub-AU where Earth was overrun with “bioweapons” (basically, a zombie apocalypse AU without the zombies); per Marathon, there were ten battleroids (combat cyborgs) aboard the UESC Marathon, and in Inm. these ten were the only ones to have survived the Third Martian War, but this sub-AU had tons more due to differing circumstances. These three were brought in to cover for Marcus Jones and Hathor of the scenario “Marathon: Eternal”; more on them later.

* Lumen, Aurora, and Umbra...hrm. So, the concept I retrieved them from was attached to a crossover concept between Inm. and Heaven Sent before I revamped it to not take place in anything resembling our world; they were the entities that Vince, Durandal, and Enzo were meant to carry on the legacies of, and weren’t “gods” but the last of their non-human, Earth-born species. Their existence provided an answer to a question that I’d deliberately left open in Inm., so over to DV they went.

* There were a number of minor characters who began life in sub-AUs, often drawn at random (ex. Nereus).

CREATED FOR DV:

* Thema, Pavo, Jessamine, Josiah, Euphie, and Nautica had no Inm. counterparts (while Jess was based off an older fan-design for a weird three-way crossover, she’s different enough that I’m counting her as totally new).

* Casimir is loosely based on Tycho in the sense that he’s an antagonistic brother, but the two have nothing in common otherwise.

* All other gods besides the main three, though Jehuty is heavily based on how I portrayed Marathon’s Thoth.

* Oracles and the Puer Astralae were both created to showcase alternate androids; trying to bring them into Inm., based on a series with no androids, would’ve just been silly. (Mer-droids, however, did exist in Inm.; I just never did much with Lorelai, the only representative at the time)

* Android camboy Peony had a basis for a design pre-DV, but wasn’t a proper character until now.

* Icarus, and all characters associated with it (besides Echo, though at this point I’m considering making her an Omni Strain antagonist instead).

NOT BROUGHT OVER:

* Cortana, Logan, and Cassandra, along with Cortana’s mentor Lilith. This version of Cortana was based on the “Cortana Letters” from 1999, which rests halfway between Marathon and Halo canon--it was the first publicly-released media of the latter, but was sent to the Marathon Story Page and implied that AIs still worked on Marathon rules.

Inm!Cortana was practically the lynchpin of the AU, since it really got into gear after I read the Letters and drew her Marathon counterpart; unlike most everyone else, she had an existing design to work off of, and bringing her over would entail making an entirely new character, so she stayed behind, as did Lilith (herself an expy of someone else’s Marathon OC...did I mention that Inm. was complicated?) and Logan, who was Cortana’s lover.

Cassandra was tied to a plot thread that was mostly carried over to DV, but let’s just say that she would’ve been redundant then. As of this writing, I haven’t found a place to move her to.

* The W’rkncacnter, Marathon’s ultimate evil (well, Marathon Infinity’s ultimate evil). Decided that Umbra was a sufficient Biggest Bad without an eldritch abomination of that nature skulking about.

* Leela and Tycho; it felt better just to let them stay in Inm.

* A number of other canon Marathon characters, like Robert Blake and Admiral Tfear, and canon races like the S’pht (in the sense that they have no expies).

* Marcus Jones and Hathor, as mentioned above. While I did design at least Hathor (Marcus was based on existing art), it didn’t feel the same as two characters who either dropped out of the plot early or died the same level they were introduced in (Haller and Charlie), or whose personality was significantly altered in Inm. (Sandy, at least in the sense that he was more overtly sympathetic). Also, I’m part of the Eternal “Omega” dev team as a writer and artist, and borrowing Marcus and Hathor for an original thing just feels gouache. :U

And that’s all I can think of that isn’t either TBA or ruinous spoilers.

@quiescent-trolls is a delight and I've been rotating that fanart they made of mondes in my head 24 seven for several days now. They have a style of lineart that is just so characteristic and unique, you can immediately tell when an art is made by them. There is something so painterly and full of character about it, like go zoom in on the sleeves of ladnah's sprite for a second and loose yourself in concise form of how the fabric falls that's conveyed with so few lines. Incredible. Its always nice to see them in my notes <3

@damistrolls continues to always impress me with their art. I was on a drawing share thing with them once and I remember being mesmerized, they just did that clean of a lineart with like, barely even drawing a base or a sketch layer, like he just jumped straight into it and was able to draw like that that fast. His characters eyes are so expressive, as are their poses and. I don’t say things like this often but they are all so attractive. Their design choices in terms of clothing and gender expression and facial expression are genius

BUT.. Odarem has been big on my mind lately, as always,! He’s currently back on Alternia and not actively assigned to any fleet ships at the moment-- Which is great for him ngl, he prefers working on Alternia and choosing his work as opposed to doing fleet assigned stuff.

Right now he’s balancing a search for his ex kismet (Julius), spending time with his best friend (Ladnah), and just trying to enjoy his time back home. He wouldn’t be able to turn down someone who came to him in need, either.. Um.. he still visits (and has recently visited) the corner store that he met Jejune at all those sweeps ago, in hopes of seeing if he’s okay, but he hasn’t run into him again since,

As I’ve mentioned many times, there are multiple generations of praetorian (combat cyborg) in Deus Vocatus. The ones listed above largely pertain to Terrans; for simplicity’s sake, any alien cyborgs the crew meets should be assumed to be the equivalent of third-gen unless stated otherwise.

* First-gen praetorians were made to operate in micro-gravity without ill effects; later became instrumental to the early inter-colony wars. Rowen Ellsworth is a first-gen who still does active space work--and yes, the undead pallor and muted hair are traits shared by all first-gens.

* Second-gen praetorians were localized to the Great Martian War; the number of survivors is in the lower double-digits. Unlike first-gens, they were engineered to be super-soldiers, not workers; also unlike first-gens, survivors suffer from varying degrees of what’s known as “Cybernetics-Induced Dysphoria”--the more they put into you, the harder it is to shut out the perception. Vince in particular has heavy CID.

* “Two-point-five-gen” praetorians were converted by the Terran Alliance some time after the Great Martian War, building off of LADNAH’s technology while correcting the oversights and negligence that led to the second-gens’ tragedy; chief among this was training to minimize CID. Haller is one such praetorian, a government assassin.

* Third-gen praetorians aren’t as powerful as second or two-point-five, but robust enough to easily handle the military positions they’re typically converted for. Lovelace chose to be converted as part of her combat medic training.
