i admit, the visual novel/otome genre was something i was only passingly familiar with before i found them, but it’s an interesting form of storytelling, isn’t it? i love getting to hear the music and see all the art assets - there’s this novelty to seeing things i didn’t make paired with something i did.

Hey, I was wondering what program you use to record and what your settings are? Because I'm using OBS and I'm able to record 1080p video (using this guide: bit[.]ly/2kJBmUd - remove square brackets) but the file sizes are huge - 4GB for a 30min video. I don't have fibre optic internet in my area so my upload speeds are usually under 1 Mbps and it takes me 12 hours to upload things. Any advice? Thanks in advance if you choose to answer!

Great question!  I’ll first off say that I typically don’t worry too much about capturing video at 1080p (or yikes 4K) unless I’m playing a game that really necessitates it (ie if you’re playing something like Titanfall, you might want to err towards 1080, but Tales of Symphonia just doesn’t benefit from it).  For standard YouTube viewing, a capture at 720p with a 30fps cap will probably suffice.  This will lower your file sizes significantly.  Also, do you do any postprocessing or audio mixing?  

As for uploading, we ran into this problem too - it’s part of why we took a hiatus - and...I’m afraid I don’t really have a solution other than find someplace (work, school, a friend’s house) that has consistently quick upload speeds and utilize that whenever you can.

For the initial capture, I use an Elgato for console and a program called Action (and occasionally OBS or XSplit) for PC.  While OBS isn’t what I use personally, I have used it extensively for work and external projects, and it’s a pretty fantastic go-to.  It works fairly well across the board, and it’s free, so unless you have a specific need (or you see things like consistent audio de-sync or framerate issues) it should be fine to use.  It also allows for easy streaming, so that’s a plus!

honestly, just from what I’ve seen of it on my dash I’m not sure it’s my thing, if I can’t romance a god or the embodiment of an abstract concept then what is even the point of playing video games, so youtube + free game sounds like the way to go. thanks guys

Yes we will probably be streaming at 9pm GMT every week, but we’re planning on posting the recorded videos the next day on a youtube channel as well so people who aren’t in our timezone or who are busy can watch at their leisure :)
