After it was thrown in the lake, the slug grew to such size that it began to occasionally come ashore and terrorize the countryside with its appetite and its poisonous spit. Eventually the worm was subdued, but the gold ring could neither be retrieved from under it, nor could they manage to kill the creature. Instead they chose to tie its head and its tail to the bottom of the lake. Its continued growth since then means that its body occasionally reaches the surface, or even arches above it. The sightings of this phenomenon are considered ill omens.

Once upon a time, nestled deep within the lush forest, there lay a serene lake named Silvermist. The lake was known for its crystal-clear waters that mirrored the surrounding trees and the tranquil atmosphere that enveloped its shores. Yet, beneath the shimmering surface, a mysterious creature dwelled, known to the locals as the Silvermist Lake Monster.

On a moonlit night, when the air was thick with magic, you, a powerful witch with a heart as ancient as the trees themselves, emerged from the heart of the forest. Your long, ebony robes billowed behind you as you made your way toward the water's edge.

Meanwhile, deep beneath the surface, the Silvermist Lake Monster, sensed an unfamiliar presence. Curiosity brimming in its luminescent eyes, it swam closer to investigate. The moonlight danced upon the ripples as the monster's eyes surfaced, revealing a majestic creature with shimmering scales and split pupils.

You were unaware of his presence, you were busy gathering some herbs you needed.

His gaze followed you around, like a crocodile stalking a little bird that was resting.that was until you snap your fingers and an old cottage that was abandoned for years but refused to crumble light up, almost as if it was waiting for somebody to arrive.

He had been observing you for weeks, captivated by your presence and the enigma that surrounded your quaint cottage. The intrigue grew so strong that he couldn't resist the temptation to explore further. One day, when you were away on some mysterious errand, he seized the opportunity and ventured inside. What he discovered left him bewildered and perplexed. The interior of your cottage was in a state of disrepair, covered in layers of dirt and overrun by cobwebs. It resembled an abandoned space, as if frozen in time.

He decided to make first contact by a night of blue moonlight,he slowly emerged from the water while you were sewing your hat that got caught in a branch

Your eyes widened with awe and intrigue as I caught sight of the lake monster. You had heard whispers of its existence but had never encountered it firsthand. A smile tugged at the corners of your lips, and the monster knew that he wasn’t the strangest thing you have encounter

“Rude”- you responded playfully

“Shut up, you know what i mean”- the monster replied

The little friendship between you two started small and slow but as two freaks from the night you had an unspoken undertanding fo each other

The monster turned up being a little bit of a playboy,telling you about the countless sirens and mermaid that had fallen for him. Strangely the tales started to slowly stop, you assume he had his eyes on another person or perhaps prey…

“Would you like me to show you inside?”

“I already broke in once, i'm not a fan of spiders you know, a little cleaning won’t hurt ya’” the playboy monster said

With a smooth movement you rose to your feet and extended your hand,the monster took it without hesitation.

You both enter your home, but instead of the cobwebs and the dirt there was a floor of hardwood and polished teacups and flowers and so much more.

It was a gorgeous sight

“A simple test efficient spell”-you said-“to keep the pest away” you finished with a grin

With each passing night, you two would meet at the lake's edge. Your encounters were filled with wordless conversations, your energies intertwining as we shared tales of our respective realms. You learned of the secrets held within the heart of the lake, while the monster absorbed the wisdom and enchantment that I possessed.

That’s until the monster saw you with another person at the edge of the lake, their scent filled their heart with an intoxicated rage, you couldn’t just go around with other people. He will make sure of it

He will drag you to the bottom of the lake if that means he will get rid of that disgusting scent that tainted your perfect form

Cryptids & Creatures of Folklore Drawtober Day 23 — Champ

For hundreds of years there have been reports of a mysterious creature lurking in the depths of Lake Champlain. The Iroquois and Mohawk people were the first to tell tales of encountering this beast. Over the years, there have been over 300 reported sightings of the creature which came to be nicknamed Champ. P. T. Barnum even offered a reward of $50,000 for the capture of Champ but it was never claimed.

In 1977, a woman named Sandra Mansi captured a photograph of Champ which appears to show a long-necked, plesiosaur-like creature in the water. However, some believe the figure is misidentified driftwood.

El Cuero from South America.

El Cuero, meaning "the hide" or "leather," resembles a primitive stingray with wide pectoral fins and a barb-less, whip-like tail. Its eyes are on stalks, and it boasts an extendable mouth akin to a sturgeon. Witnesses describe razor-sharp claws along its fringes, used to secure prey, and there are even suggestions that it utilizes hunting knives from previous victims as weapons. El Cuero's size ranges from 2 to 5 feet across, weighing approximately 65 pounds.

According to South American natives, El Cuero is dubbed the "aquatic tiger" due to its reputation as a voracious predator. Similar to a crocodile, the creature is said to surge out of the lake, overpowering its prey, often humans. It allegedly employs a proboscis to puncture the skin and extract internal organs and blood. El Cuero is said to seize individuals and animals while they bathe or cross the water, employing an irresistible contraction by folding upon itself. Using its claws, it wraps its prey, drags it to the bottom, and consumes it. The creature is described as incredibly strong, with the ability to drag a horse into the water. Despite its strength, there are claims of hunting methods involving nooses or throwing cactus chunks into the water, causing El Cuero to pierce itself.

Countless, albeit controversial, human attacks have been reported. In one account, a woman washing clothes by the lakeside claimed that El Cuero surged from the water like a crocodile, swiftly engulfing her sleeping baby. The creature then disappeared into the water as rapidly as it had emerged.

Spielzeit Bestiary #3: The Dünnhalsig

There are a multitude of lakes and rivers near Spielzeit, with a few being home to a few supposed beasties. The "cursed" Lake Dünn, a popular fishing spot in spite of these superstitions, is now said to be the home of the long necked cryptid known as the Dünnhalsig.

Described by eyewitnesses as being a dinosaur-like being with either a pale red or pale yellow coloring, a few speculate that it is a living fossil, a Brontosaurus, to be specific. Though, no one really knows for sure, as these same witnesses have only seen the head and neck of the creature.

Another thing to note is that the creature is incredibly tiny, the length of the neck up to the tip of the head being only about 2-3 feet. It seems to be docile as well, only ever swimming up to the fishermen, then submerging. One eyewitness, Paul Hinkley, had this to say about his experience.

"I was minding my own business, it was rainy, perfect day to catch a biggun. So I sit myself at the dock, and I'm just waiting for a bite. As I'm sitting there, I hear a muffled sound. I didn't know what in the hey it was, until I looked down. There was this thing in the water, just sitting there, staring at me. I can never forget those eyes. Those incredibly human eyes. It was a good 5 minutes before the thing swam off. I left immediately."

Ranger Angelo Floros did a sweep of the lake, eventually stating this the next town meeting.

"In my team's search through the lake, we found no 'long necked thing'. We did, however, find a log. A log with little googly eyes on top. That is what you all saw. No further comment."

Regardless of what Ranger Floros said, most of the townsfolk are certain that there's something in the lake. And that something is the Dünnhalsig. Do you believe?
