#lalo isn't taking any chances

Do you think it could be possible that the Salamancas were outcasts even among the cartel because of the "family is everything" mentality that Hector drilled into them? And on top of that, the twins are Like That and Tuco is Tuco, as well as Hector being dumb as a box of rocks like you said, so it would only Lalo who can blend in as the most "normal" (I feel like he's the defacto spokesperson of the Salamancas which is why he stays in Mexico until Hector's hospitalized) I'm also wondering if you think the Salamancas know and accept that they're pariahs or are they unaware and think everything they do is justified? Like Lalo, the twins seem to kill as a safety measure rather than out of fun (e.g. the man who thought their shoes looked cool) which tracks with Lalo taking Howard out just because he was there
I don't really think so, because the Salamancas are founding members of the cartel. The cartel has a lot of underlings, but at the top, there's only Eladio (the boss), Bolsa (the business guy), and the Salamancas (the muscle). Hector says that the cartel was founded on "Salamanca blood" (because an unknown number of Salamancas have died for the cartel) and interestingly, Salamanca money - I just rewatched the scene in 3 x 10 when Hector has his stroke, and Hector tells Bolsa that Salamanca money bought Eladio's hacienda.
(It kind of makes you wonder what Eladio brought to the table, if all the work and the initial monetary investment came from the Salamancas. Why is Eladio the boss, and not Hector? Maybe Eladio is the brains, or had the right connections to get them off the ground.)
Anyway, this is why no matter how much of an asshole Hector is, Bolsa always speaks very diplomatically to him and reiterates how valued Hector and his family are. I do, however, think it's possible that while Hector was in prison, Eladio ratfucked the other Salamancas somehow, which is why Hector's brothers are dead, not because he considered them pariahs but because Eladio's share of the profit would increase with fewer people to have to pay out.
And this is why Hector is so freaked out by Gus moving up in the ranks. Even if Hector and Gus didn't have a history, a new guy gaining that much importance in the cartel has a very good chance of pushing him and his family out. Gus is making them irrelevant. And once they're irrelevant, then they might become pariahs, and then it's all over for them. It isn't just a matter of Hector's pride on the line - it's their lives.
I agree that the twins are more pragmatic killers than just killing people for the hell of it, but I think Lalo's murder of Howard was also strategic, not just because he didn't want witnesses. Killing Howard was a very fast way to get the message across to Jimmy and Kim that there wasn't going to be any negotiating this time around.

Ok ok ok. You mentioned how you wanted to snort coke off of lalos dick…. Can you write a Drabble about that cuz omg- 🫣🫣
yes bc i am insane 🖤 disclaimer: coke dick is not a myth but i refuse to believe lalo gets it (i also have never done cocaine lul)
warning: intox (cocaine)
Tumblr media
“Are you serious? How have you not tried it before?”
Lalo asked that with the same incredulity as if you had just said you’d never eaten an apple before. To him, cocaine and other Schedule II narcotics were normal, boring even. That makes sense. You’d imagine that handling literal bricks of it day in and day out would desensitize you. But he had to know that you were far from the only person that had never tried coke. Most people hadn't.
"I don't know, man! I'd never even seen coke before I met you! Isn't it dangerous?" You asked.
Lalo shrugged. "It can be, yeah, but you just gotta know what you're doing." He walked over to his dresser and cracked open a drawer, rifling through it as he talked to you. "You gotta know how to dose it, how to handle it, and how to stop doing it once you start. That last one's important." He pulled out a locked box and set it on the dresser.
"Right, yeah. I guess that makes sense." You rationalized. Lalo seemed to know what he was doing. This was his career, no, his whole life. He must know how to handle it. You thought of his younger cousin, Tuco, who seemed to snort anything he could get his hands on. Lalo certainly had better self-control than that.
"Most importantly though," Lalo unlocked the box and pulled something out. He turned around to show you what it was: a tiny bag of white powder. Unsurprising. “You gotta know your stuff’s legit. A lot of shitty dealers will cut it or try to sell you something else entirely. I don’t sell anything I wouldn’t snort, and I don’t snort anything I don’t sell. It's a matter of integrity.” He tossed you the 8-ball so you could examine it.
You squished the tiny bag, pressing the powder between your fingertips, the texture obfuscated through the plastic. The way it moved reminded you of powdered sugar. It's funny how something so insidious can seem so benign up close. "Question," you asked, your eyes glued to the baggie.
"Shoot." Lalo replied.
"It's a stupid question."
"I bet it is," Lalo chuckled, enamored by your relative innocence, "Go for it, chiquito."
You led the bag away from your face so you could see your boyfriend. "Is coke dick real? Like you can't get hard when you do it?"
Lalo was stunned. "I've... never had that problem. Where did you hear about that?"
Good question. Where the hell did you hear about that? A junkie friend? The internet? It felt like multiple sources had contributed to this theory. "I dunno, actually. Guess it's just a myth."
"Oh, it definitely is." Lalo strode towards you until you were close enough for him to pull your body against his. Keeping one hand on your waist, he used your momentary distraction to pluck the 8-ball from your fingers. "Want me to prove it to y-?"
"Yes." You said with literally no hesitation, not even letting him finish his sentence. You may have been naïve, but you weren't stupid. Any chance for your man to whip it out was a chance you were going to take.
"Oh, wow, someone's eager, huh? Good boy." He cracked open the tiny bag and stuck his pinky in, scooping the product up with his fingernail. "So, I'm guessing you know what a line is, right? Well, this is called a bump." He held it up to his nostril and snorted it, the powder disappearing into his sinuses. Once he did, his head flew back and he groaned. "Mierda, está bien... (Shit, that's good.)" When he looked at you again, you could see that his brown eyes were almost entirely black, irises being swallowed by his pupils. He nudged you off him so he could unbuckle his belt.
You watched him like a research scientist trying to document the effects of the substance. His hands were trembling as he pulled his belt off. He held the baggie in his teeth to keep his hands free while he undressed. He kept sniffling like he was trying to suck up every molecule left behind. His brow was furrowed. His teeth were clenched. You'd never seen him like this. He looked unhinged. You couldn't tell if your body's growing arousal was from fear or desire. Plus, you weren't sure if you were supposed to talk, but you couldn't bear the silence. "It looks... intense..."
"It is, it is." Lalo laughed as he tugged his boxer briefs down. Now that he had a hand to spare, he took the bag out of his mouth and stroked himself. His cock was already at half-mast before he even touched it, and it didn't take long for him to get the rest up. "You want some? You're gonna love it."
You knew he meant the coke, but your eyes were somewhere else. Your gaze was locked on the bulging veins in both his hand and his cock. Coke dick really was just a myth. You'd have what he was having. "Yeah... yeah, gimme some..."
Lalo sneered and put his hand on your shoulder. "Then get on your fucking knees." He growled and pushed you down before you could do it yourself.
You dropped to your knees on the plush bedroom carpet. You went to grab onto him, but he swatted your hand away as he continued to pump himself.
“No, no. Watch me. I’m gonna give you a line, okay?” Lalo’s voice was eerily nurturing. It usually was when he talked to you, but you expected the coke to change that somehow. He took his hand off himself to open the bag, scooped some out, and placed a pretty sizable bump on his shaft. He hastily poked it into a line. “You know how to snort something, right? Just hold one nostril and sniff. It's not hard. It'll hit you hard, though, so just be ready."
As Lalo held himself steady, you leaned in, poking one nostril shut, and snorted the whole line as quickly as you could. He wasn't kidding. It did hit you hard. It hit you upside the head like a heavyweight champion, and you recoiled just so. You pulled off dry-heaving as it hit you, still holding his dick like a lifeline. When you remembered where you were and what you were doing, one thing, one solitary goal became your purpose, and all your other worries melted away.
Cock.
Cooooock...
Ever the desperate slut, you latched your mouth onto him, slurping up whatever trace of the drug that was stuck to his skin. Though honestly, he was a drug in and of himself. And you were a junkie. You were a junkie who'd do anything to get a hit.
Lalo knew that. He knew how easy you were. He knew you'd do anything for him, so he gladly took advantage of that. He laughed and clenched your hair in his fist as you serviced him.
"Good boy."

CHAPTER 27
How wreck a person can be?
How much sadness can a person feel?
How much pain can a person take?
How many miseries can a person need go through to be happy?
What is the meaning of happiness?
How many times can I tolerate the pain before I gave up?
"I didn't really know what to say. Hindi ka pumasok for almost two months. You didn't get to take midterm exams nor even passed the activities and homework and yet you also failed the test that your professors gave you this week. Tell me, what is really happening to you? This isn't you. We tried contacting your parents pero walang sumasagot." I bowed my head as I listened to the department head scolding me.
I knew all of my dreams were slipping away from my hands. I am not going to graduate Summa Cum Laude anymore, and I may not even graduate with any Latin honors.
I have all the chance na bawiin lahat ng failing grades ko for the last two months pero hindi ko pa din nagawa.
"May problema ba, Miss Trinidad? Baka hindi ka din makagraduate kapag ganito ang grades mo." I heaved a sigh and tried my best to give her a smile.
"I'm fine, ma'am."
"Well, I'm not. You are the most outstanding students in this department at hindi ako papayag na hindi ka makagraduate! Ayokong madagdagan ang students na hindi makakagraduate sa batch niyo. That Mr. Garcia already dropped out from school! Kung kailan patapos na saka kayo nagkakaganyan! Ilang buwan nalang, hindi niyo pa natiis! Ano na ba ang nangyayari sa mga kabataan ngayon?" She shook her head and slumped her body to the swivel chair.
"You need to pass your finals, Miss Trinidad. You are no longer candidate for a latin honor, but still hindi mo naman siguro hahayaan na hindi ka makagraduate?" I nodded my head at hindi na nagsalita pa.
"And also, I can't get hold of your parents. Please call them at papuntahin mo sila dito, I need to talk to them."
"I don't have anyone to call ma'am. Just tell me, and if there's anything to fix or any more problems, ako na po ang mag aayos." Confusion and shock were evident on her face. I know she wanted to ask more, but she knows it's not her place anymore.
"Alright. Inaasahan kong kasama ka sa makaka graduate this coming June. You may leave now."
She's right, this isn't me. But who am I really?
I can't get hold of that Rae that they know anymore. I can't seem to grasp her nor even have a glimpse of her. It feels like she dies without a word.
"What did she say?" I looked at Yna who suddenly popped out on my side as I stepped out of the Department head's office.
"Nothing much." I shrugged my shoulders and walked slowly.
I can feel the stares of every student I passed by. It wasn't the same gaze I got before, this time it was full of scoff, mockery, and a hint of joy because they can see that I am no longer the stars they look up to but a stone that they can just trample on.
"Oh? Anong tinitingin tingin niyo?!" The group of girls who were staring and glaring at me earlier looked away when Yna went to them.
"Hey, don't. Let them." I held Yna's arm to stop her from coming to them.
"Oh! if it isn't Avalyn Rae Trinidad, The fallen star!" I turn on the three girls who came to me and laugh with full of mockery.
"How's that? You look miserable. I heard the guy who always followed you around left you, so sad. Wala talagang magtatagal sayo." I didn't answer her nor even gave them a reaction.
"Aba! Kayo pala yung mga hampas lupang bwakanangshit na mga mukhang linta!" I saw how their faces changed from derision to scowl.
"Oh, your new alipores?" Anji asked while eyeing up and down to Yna.
"Oh, Rae. Your lost dogs?"
"Let's go, Yna."
"Oh bakit? Nasan na yung matapang na Rae na nagpa kick out samin noon? Bakit kaawa awa ka ng tignan ngayon? Well, deserve mo naman."
"How dare you!"
"How dare you, your face! Rae treated you as her friend tapos ganito isusukli niyo sakaniya? Mga asong ulol! Masyado kayong inggit sa kanya noh kaya hanggang ngayon tahol pa din kayo ng tahol!" I heaved a sigh and stopped Yna.
We are still near at the office of the Department head, baka hindi na talaga ako makagraduate kung magpapatuloy pa itong away.
"Let's go. Just let them."
Galit at mariin nitong sabi.
"Kailan ba kayo matatapos? Eh mukhang hanggat buhay ako hahabol at hahabol kayo sakin. Go on, drag me down all you want. Wala na akong pakialam. And Yna.." I look at Yna na nag aabang na awayin sila ulit.
"You're wrong, they are not dogs. They are too ugly to be compared to them.
I flinched when I felt cold damp on my forehead. I slowly opened my eyes and found myself in my room already.
I looked at my side with furrowed brows and I saw the wife of Kuya Haides wiping a soft damp towel on my arm.
"Hey, gising ka na pala. Hindi ka na namin ginising dahil nilalagnat ka. May masakit ba sayo?"
"It's already past 8 PM. Ipapadala ko lang dito yung dinner mo ah at baka nagugutom ka na." I smiled at her at sinundan ko ito ng tingin hanggang sa makalabas siya ng kwarto.
Until now I still haven't heard about my parents. I wanted to ask the people around me but I don't have any courage to hear what they are going to say.
I know wala na silang pakialam sakin. And I am losing faith in them as well.
I stood up from my bed and went to the window.
I suddenly remember what my Father did.
Is that the reason why my mom was acting indifferent towards him? Is it because she knew what he did? Is that woman the one my mom is pertaining to dad when they lashed out at each other last December?
Amara Bianca Garcia...
She must be torn into pieces as well.
Siguro hindi na din niya kinakaya ang sakit, that's why she chose to end her life.
Is this what Benedict wants?
He planned everything. All along I thought he loved me too. I thought he cares for me. I thought all of the things he showed to me were real. He's right, I am really a fool.
They didn't get the chance to give justice to his mother. That's why he avenged her through me. He did what my father did to her mother and maybe... I really deserve this.
Is he satisfied now?
Is he happy now?
They must be celebrating the justice that he took. It might be too long but he now successfully got the justice he's been seeking for years.
"Are you happy now?"
"Ma'am?" I quickly wipe my tears and turn my gaze to the door.
"Yes?" A woman in her 40s came with a tray of food in her hands.
"Dinner niyo daw po, ma'am." Nilapag nito ang tray sa table at inayos ang mga pagkain doon.
Nagpasalamat ako at ngumiti ito bago umalis. There's a lot of food at hindi ko alam kung kaya ko ba ubusin lahat ng iyon. I heaved a sigh.
It was 11 PM when I decided to go down to make myself tea. It's been a while since I drank one, maybe that's why I am getting anxious. I need one to calm down.
It was already quiet. The lights are now dim, might be because they are now sleeping. I walked to the hallway and saw a door slightly open.
I tiptoed and peeked inside. I gently smiled as I saw three little angels in a deep slumber. Kuya Haides' wife is beside them sleeping. What a beautiful family.
I opened their kitchen cabinet and I found St. John's wort Tea.
I gasped and immediately looked away.
After what happened, I can't dare to look at myself in the mirror.
But ... Now that I know everything, is it really worth all of the pain?
Does he deserve everything he got?
Does he deserve roaming free?
Does he even deserve to be a human?
"Good, I'm gonna make sure that he'll rot in jail." I furrowed my brows as I heard Kuya Haides's voice. It was from his office, I slowly walked right into it...
"That bastard doesn't even deserve to live. No! She doesn't have to give her statement! I'm not going to let her see that bastard's face. If only I can kill him–"
"Kuya Haides..."
"R-rae! A-anong ginagawa mo dito? Bakit gising ka pa? Do you need something? May masakit ba sayo? I'll call Snoah–" Nagpapanic nitong sunod sunod na tanong.
"How's my father?"
"H-he's fine! There's nothing to worry about. Do you want to visit him?" I slowly enter his office and look around.
There are a lot of books regarding the law, and scattered papers on his table yet the room is cleaned.
"Is he doing alright?" Sinundan niya ako ng naninimbang na tingin.
"He is! Tito Francisko has already recovered from the uh.. Head injury and I heard na inaayos na daw niya uli ang plantation."
I can hear a bit of uncomfy in his voice. Might be because he didn't expect me to ask about those things.
"Does he even know what happened to me?" I stare right into his eyes. I saw him gulp and scratch his head a bit.
"We uh.. We told him that you're in the hospital but we left the part wherein you uhm–"
I doubt Kuya Haides was like this in court. It looks like he's the one being interrogated right now.
"Can you do me a favor?" He furrowed his brow and is now curious about what I'm gonna say.
"Anything, Rae." I smile.
"Can you put my father in jail?" He gasped. His eyes widened in disbelief.
"W-what?"

ok i totally understand the mcwexlker break, but why did kim say she was afraid of telling saul about lalo because they would have paused the scam and then broken up if that happened? i didn't get why one thing would have led to that.
A good question! I was also thrown by this line of reasoning but writing it out makes it make a lot more sense. Prefacing this by saying this is entirely my own opinion.
Jimmy isn't supposed to be Kim's white knight, he's supposed to be her partner in crime.
One of Kim's most famous lines is "You don't save me, I save me." Throughout her time in doc review, she's constantly annoyed by Jimmy's attempts to take blame entirely on his shoulders and find a way for her to escape the mess he believe he made for her, whereas she recognizes her role in what happened (that she stuck her neck out for him for the Davis and Main position) and takes responsibility for it.
So attempting to save her yet again, this time from Lalo, would put them back in this dynamic she's already expressed to dislike.
Jimmy blames himself constantly for putting Kim into Lalo's line of sight, even though she went to visit him in prison and handed him his whole ass of her own accord. For Kim, these are choices she makes. For Jimmy, she wouldn't have had to do any of those things if he hadn't accepted the job to represent Domingo.
The first time Lalo comes to their house, they do run away; there's no reason not to think they wouldn't do it again. If Jimmy knew there was a chance that Lalo was waiting in the wings, it's a fair guess on Kim's part that he would insist they run for her safety, and thus end the scam.
And this was always Kim's scam, not Jimmy's. He's along for the ride, of course, but this is entirely her brainchild. The two of them are supposed to balance each other—one goes too far, the other reels them back in. Kim doesn't allow for that to happen. By hiding the truth about Lalo, Jimmy doesn't have the opportunity to pull the plug on something that is clearly becoming too dangerous for the two of them to handle. She made a selfish call, one that ultimately got Howard killed and made it impossible for her to live with herself, all because she was having too much fun.
She wanted Jimmy to be her partner, not her savior. Knowing he would drop everything on her account and end something she worked so hard on would be a bridge too far for her.

In my Laloriaran Lives AU, he and Trechire have three children by the events of Elsweyr (which for me personally was like a 20 year span between the events of Coldharbour and then Elsweyr). One is of course Sunnabela, NOT stolen by Raveoov but actually happily remaining in his birth timeline and even gets to know his father, what do ya know!
So random Laloriaran children dump post:
Sunnabela:
Eldest
Brought up with the tradition royal mindset "You are the eldest, therefore you take care of your family when need be."
Laloriaran attempted to train him in with two handed weapons, but it just fell flat. Lalo was grateful in the end, as it gave way to a chance for Caafire and him to bond as Laloriaran brought Sunnabela to her for lessons with twin daggers.
Still a bard. He grew up loving the music he'd study with the Psijics, and begged his parents for lessons with the lute and harp at a young age.
As an adult, is a Psijic escourt for their field agents. Double protection and all. Plus it gives him a chance to see the world.
Good relationship with both parents. Love them to death.
Really good relationship with his younger sister, and then with his older half brother whom he only met as an adult, Fennorian.
Not on good terms with his younger brother, Leythen. It's a constant fight between them. Very conflicting personalities.
Anrielle:
Middle child
Very shy and soft spoken
Name translates to "The Beauty"
Trechire's skin tone but with Laloriaran's once bronze/gold blonde hair and green-blue eyes (personal headcanon with the hair color)
As a child, was in the middle of a lot of Sunny and Leythen's fights. Usually because the fights started as Leythen was peer pressuring his sister into doing something stupid because he knew she was an easy target, and Sunny would POUNCE to protect her.
Hates being the source of any conflict, or being worried over. Thus became very self sufficient.
Very close bond to her mother, who worries she inherited anxiety issues.
Intimidated by her own father, but loves him and runs to him for protection.
Good relationship with Sunny, but stronger bond to Fennorian, whom she works with often as she quite loves enchantment and alchemy practices.
Warden like her mother, but with a HEAVY focus on restoration.
Despite the concerns of her parents, isn't trained with any sort of weapon other than a restoration staff.
Leythen:
Youngest child, at least in the 2nd Era.
Named after the late Leythen who passed helping to defeat Nocturnal.
Has Laloriaran's skin tone but Trechire's Galerion blue eyes and brown hair.
Incredibly vain and clever.
Is beyond obsessive over his make up, his clothing, and his reputation.
Hated being on Artaeum for his childhood, yet still brings up "I was raised on Artaeum" as a power flex when in public.
Was the problem child, and for a long time Laloriaran had him under watch. That ended when Leythen became an adult and left home.
Doesn't get along with Sunny at all, always angry whenever his brother butts into his buisness. But secretly grateful whenever Sunny drops in to save him in time. Never shows it, though.
Indifferent towards his sister. She was too quiet and innocent for him to either REALLY mess with or be REALLY rude towards.
Scholar, specializing in Ayleid relics and lore.
Yes, the above statement goes in the worst direction you'd think. He makes Umbacano seem perfectly humble. Leythen will treat you like an idiot unless you can answer his questions about his studies correctly. Basically a Star Wars or Anime gatekeeper but with Ayleid lore.
Laloriaran has tried to knock sense into him multiple times but nothing worked. He just accepted Leythen was born "with the worse Ayleid traits", but remains hopeful that maybe he'll grow out of it.
Leythen and Trechire don't speak often, mostly due to awkwardness. Leythen is a Momma's Boy, and Trechire definately babied him, but now their personalities conflict and it's probably the only thing he is truly regretful and ashamed of.
Technically a member of the Mage's Guild, but to Grandfather Vanus' dismay, acts more like a second Telenger than a Galerion grandchild.
Isn't in one place for long, as he travels from site to site for his studies. No one really knows where he lives. It's not as if he keeps friends close enough that he'd have any to bring home.
