doing questionable things like rewatching a bard’s lament for “fun” and scanlan and vex you will always be famous. the fact that scanlan brings up that they’ve travelled across planes to fix vex’s daddy issues but then it’s vex’s daddy issues that ground her rebuttal to scanlan when she tells him to stop treating kaylie like an object. and god. vex’s “fuck him! fuck him for not saying anything sooner. and fuck us for not asking.” in the immediate aftermath, and then once she has time to put her walls back up, vex’s “my take-away from scanlan is that we all talk too much.”

the fact that vex was the one who made that comment that without his magic scanlan is just some guy but he’s also the some guy that vex spends the campaign looking up to (even if she does it through barbs and snark), the fact that when vex was fighting against saundor hearing things like “unproven ally” scanlan was all jokes until he realized how much vex believed what was being said to her. the fact that when scanlan comes back, it’s vex who literally sees through his disguise.

what do you mean scanlan was a deadbeat father who discovered a daughter that he did love but loved only as an object until vex called him out on it? what do you mean vex was a woman who struggled to forgive in part due to her crapshoot father and she was the first to forgive scanlan when he came back?

vex and scanlan also have such interesting interactions in terms of the balance of snark, silliness, and sincerity. it’s not uncommon from any characters of sam or laura’s since they are both silly little guys who also love drama and roasting each other especially when it comes to character rp, but as always it’s so dynamic when it’s the two of them bouncing off each other, especially when they’re doing so through scanlan and vex who are already bitchy characters (affectionate) with humour as a deflection method. but it’s a silly and deeply sincere moment when vex finally puts the witch hat scanlan gave her back on with his promise that he won’t run away from the final battle. it is one of my favourite laughable moments in c1 but it also reeks of sincerity when scanlan asks vex if she prefers planetar scanlan or normal scanlan and vex tells him he is fucking hot as a planetar, but she loves him like he was and he’s her favourite when he’s just himself.

like. they’re insane do you understand. the dawnfather asks vex to prove herself and scanlan turns her into a dragon to help her succeed, pelor asks vox machina what vex means to them and scanlan says she’s greedy and mean and the most perfect of them all. the knowing mistress asks scanlan to prove himself and vex escorts him on a broom he unlocked for her and then she picks an impossible lock for him, ioun tries to remind scanlan that his strength is the joy he provides to his friends and he makes a deflective quip that he’s really powerful and vex undercuts his deflection with a sincere assertion that he is. scanlan cast his last wish spell letting her see her brother on her wedding day. vex sent herself across the continent alone with her worry and grief while scanlan’s corpse lay awaiting resurrection to ensure that his daughter could be there to either bring him back or say goodbye.

they are the platonic chosen soulmates of all time to me. i make a post like this like once a year minimum and it’s because they Haunt me. both sam and laura said what if we made high charisma characters using their charisma as a shield and humour as a weapon and they saw through each other’s masks but they never explicitly talked about it to one another. good riddance to talks machina but i will never forget the episode post bard’s lament with laura and sam where sam revealed that vex was the only one who said anything that actually got through to scanlan and another episode where laura revealed that the reason vex was so angry and sad when scanlan left was that vex felt like her and scanlan had a unique bond where they were the only two who really saw one another’s masks for what they were. also laura providing the insight that while vex was actively working on being more forgiving, another reason she was so open and happy with scanlan when he came back was that vex didn’t want to scare him away again.

what am i supposed to do with all that? be normal about scanlan and vex? literally impossible

oh my god he’s SO fussy over you but at the same time he’s trying to stop laura from just sitting next to you and observing you 24/7 to somehow make sure you’re not dying (she doesn’t really get sick, what with her father’s genes, so she gets really worried the first few times she sees you get sick; she’s very afraid of losing you)— so he visibly tries to downplay his concern as to not frighten laura, but he’s still hovering around your tired form, a frown on his face because he hates to see you like this. he teaches laura how to care for you when you’re sick, the child diligently doing everything he’s told her, and you don’t have the heart to tell her you’re too warm as she tucks you in for the like hundredth time in an hour, too touched by her behavior. when he manages to get you alone for a brief moment, he offers to massage your sore body and kisses your warm forehead, offering you a bowl of soup him and laura cooked for you earlier <3

the locker room was loud. you had known to expect things to be pretty high energy after the clean sweep of your euro qualifier group. you were still fairly new to the senior national team, despite several of your friends having been called up already. that was why you were still riding the high from qualifying for the olympics.

"there she is, woman of the game!" lena exclaimed as she jumped onto your back. jule and sydney quickly joined the midfielder in trying to cling to you. they managed to pull you down onto the ground with them, lena attempting and failing to put you in a headlock.

"come on guys, she just got her first cap. let's not injure (y/n), maro would march in here and wring your necks herself." you shot svenja a grateful look as the girls got off of you. a surefire way to always get the girls to act right around you was to bring up your older sister, one of their former teammates.

"are you okay, babe?" laura asked as she pulled you up onto your feet. you leaned into her as you nodded. laura wrapped her arms around you in a loose hug. everybody on the team had their suspicions about your relationship with laura, but nothing had ever been confirmed. they knew that you played together on the club level, but nothing specific past that. laura was protective of you, but not in the same wa svenja or the older girls were.

"stop, you're gonna make me look soft," you whined softly. laura laughed as she pulled out of the hug. most of the girls had their attention turned away, so they didn't notice when laura pulled you off towards the showers.

"you are okay, right? they didn't actually hurt you at all?" laura cradled your face in her hands, knowing that you cuoldn't lie to her when she really looked at you.

"i'm fine, other than you embarrassing me a little. you know how i feel about you," you told her. laura swallowed nervously as she forced herself to look away from you. you weren't that much younger than her, but you were still seen as the baby of the team. "it'd be so easy. just call me baby, and i'll be yours forever."

"that's a long time," laura told you.

"i know, but i want this. i want you. we've been dancing around this for too long. you make me so happy when we're together. what's stopping us?"

"fuck it. i love you baby." laura cradled your face in hers and brought you down to kiss. you let yourself melt into it, only interrupted when laura pulled back as the shouts of your teammates grew closer. it was easy enough for laura to pretend that you were hurt, there was a bruise left on your body from the game that looked close enough to where lena had jumped onto your back. it was much harder to keep your eyes off of each other, but everybody already assumed you were together already.

(Also, did Laura take advantage of the Reign of Terror period of the French Revolution and basically saw and made it an all you can eat buffet? Taking the ‘eat the rich’ literal? Also Laura singing ‘Cą Ira’ would give me life lol)

Also, Laura during La Terreur is a well-fed Laura.

She didn't ideologically participate in the Revolution, but she loved the chaos and violence because it gave her a lot of coverage. Any sightings of her were dismissed and corpses littered the streets. She ate a lot in that period (which helped her recover from her wound) by eating the decapitated/hanged bodies all around and snatching the leftovers. She still knows the original revolutionary songs by heart in 1999.

Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to send me this lovely message.

I honestly had such a blast writing Payment Due! It’s the first fanfic I have ever finished in my entire life. And I wrote it during my last semester of University along with applying to work in Korea and we were still in quarantine. So even though I had all of these things going on I was still at home. Anyway, that story holds such a special place in my heart because I had so much fun writing it. And let’s be honest at times it was just completely unhinged and ridiculous, but at the same time that’s what made it so much fun lol.

Either way as I kept writing and things got more exciting in the story, the engagement died down. And that’s something I completely do not understand??

I’m going to be completely transparent I have 3k followers and my engagement numbers don’t reflect that. Again, I understand that people have lives outside of this sight that’s completely understandable. And sometimes people that have followed me for years are probably not on here anymore. That’s okay!

I guess what bothers me a little is people who get asked to be tagged in fics and then they don’t say anything? I hope I’m not sounding to mean or ungrateful. But that’s just what my experience has been. Or on the other hand I don’t understand why people can’t just take 2 mins to create a conversation with me about my fics.

Like y’all I want to gossip about my characters too. Then again, that’s probably on me because I reply so late.

Anyway, just honest from the bottom of my heart thank you so much! Thank you for taking your time to let me know this. It’s hard sometimes to feel like you’re writing is being appreciated when all I see are ghost readers. With that being said I hope that people who read this don’t and do engage with my content feel like I don’t appreciate them because I do. I really do. And it’s honestly why I keep writing not just for me but for people who want to read my stories!
