I've never really liked Ace being overprotective of Luffy as a trope in fanfic? Ofc people can write what they want, and I don't mind Sabo being mildly protective or concerned at all because I think it works well for his character, but I think Ace would hear about Luffy being interested in someone and immediately respond with "Don't listen to Sabo, go get em" and tease Luffy relentlessly about his relationship. Ace and Luffy's dynamic has always been one of enabling each other's shenanigans and I definitely think that would extend to their love lives.

Lawlu Firefighter AU

Shachi buys Law one of those shirtless firefighter calendars as a joke and Law looks at it out of sheer curiosity. He is immediately down bad for this dark-haired guy with a crazy burn scar on his chest. He secretly hangs the calendar on the wall in his room with the month set to May even though it's January. (Luffy is May, his birthday month)

Fast forward a few months later to a minor fire at the hospital where Law works. He meets none other than the hot firefighter, Monkey D. Luffy who is absolutely smitten with Law from the moment he meets him. Luffy asks Law out on a date to repay him for saving his life (Law's life was never really in danger Luffy just needed an excuse the super hot doctor out.)

Law can NEVER let Luffy find out that he had his shirtless picture hung up in his room for three months straight...
