I have caught notice of Lazarus’ frequent grinning, nobody has ever seen him falter, leaving some residents disturbed. He’s quite the optimistic and extroverted sir, unfortunately you never know what’s below the surface…”

Found background:

Lazarus originates from the very same cult he presently leads. His parents, Lyra and Thomas Seltzar forcefully settled down together during the construction of the cult’s town, built by Edmond Seltzar.

Lazarus had a healthy childhood aside from the cult’s views being projected onto him, his father’s sudden disappearance, and Dorothy Seltzar’s passing. Once the bad passed for young Lazarus, Edmond took Lazarus under his wing, showing him how to be a leader for the town.

Unfortunately, Lazarus’s mother had also suddenly disappeared in his late teens, leaving him in the hands of his grandfather for good until his eventual passing. Presently leaving Lazarus as the cult’s mayor.

Trivia:

Lazarus’ little source of (now forgotten) morality was from his mother

A nickname Lazarus has earned from the elderly women in town is “Lonely Lazarus” as a result of his longing for romance.

Lazarus frequently gets visions, little snippets of the future. And you.

Lazarus Lore:

Is a feathered serpent with some sort of ambiguous divinity

Can shapeshift into a human form. She has a full-snek form, a full-human form, and of course a kemonomimi form, which she favors the most

Has lived as a human and is only recently learning about the snek goddess(?) part

Lives on a large tropical island and/or archipelago in the middle of a big ocean, tech base is mildly futuristic but has a pretty good balance of cities and nature

The planet she lives on is one of two, tidally-locked binary planets of roughly equal size and mass, revolving around each other while sharing an orbit and a handful of moons

Why is the other planet there? She might have a connection to it, but it might just be there for vibes, idk yet. Looks really sick looming on the horizon all the time though

Due to the whole feathered snek thing, has powers over plants, water, and lightning... maybe gravity too?

Despite this is kind of a pansy about nature on account of growing up a city girl; likes plants, but bad with animals (like me lol)

Forgot to post this lmao. I finally finished the portrait of my Rogue Trader, my Pyromancer Lazarus. This thing gave me no shortage of trouble, as I ended up restarting this about 4-5 times before I was finally happy with it. I did have a lot of fun with it in the end, and this is probably the most fun I've had painting a background.

Lazarus was ecstatic, to say the least, after all, you first appeared in his visions as some sort of goddess. He had to contain himself to not scare you off, but it’s hard to do just that when he thinks you’ve been sent from heaven just for him. A sinister grin began developing in place of his signature one as he strode toward you.

With a flushed face, Lazarus introduced himself and welcomed you into town with open arms with the intention of never letting you leave…

Quin Dahl

Quin and you originally met in high school, where he was smoking a cigarette just outside the school walls while a dance was happening.

The moment you had stepped out, he fell hard. His heart raced as the cigarette fell out of his fingers with shock, staring at you with wide and loving eyes as his mind screamed to start a conversation with you. So he did just that, before you know it, the two of you become closer and eventually married. The whole memory was a blur of pure euphoria.

Will Vellion

Will most likely fell the hardest out of all of them, he could’ve sworn he had a heart attack the moment his eyes glanced over to you. Quickly, he dropped everything he was doing, hastily walking over to your table with tunnel vision. The moment he had reached your table, he brought out his notepad to ask for your order, a shiver of pure euphoria running through his body as you began to speak. It was just like an Angel speaking to him…

Of course, he had to resist taking out a ring and proposing right then and there, he could already tell that you two were meant to be together just by looking.
