Number 6 image from my sale of six (6!) images to CapitalOne Financial for their new business campus in Plano, Texas. They had requested to see images that could be about #technology" and #innovation - this seemed to fit the bill. Entitled "Return to Yellow", it's creation engaged photographic tools, but it is not a photograph made in the traditional sense. With this process, I hope to provoke in the viewer a questioning of how we see, perceive, and divine the truth of that perception. This image is derived from a compromised or corrupted video feed, processed with Adobe #Lightroom, then printed with archival pigment ink on 36x48" #hahnemühle photorag paper. #Weekday #Wednesday Photography for everyone! The "democratization" of photography began when around 1888, George Eastman developed a small, portable camera and roll film (with a 120mm size still in use today) that enabled every man or woman to be a photographer. It would take another century for the work of photographers to be considered art - and many still deny that fact. (This image comes from one I made during a "photo-walk" kind of trip with a local camera club to the San Juan Mountains area of southwestern Colorado near Ouray. These intrepid souls climbed to the top of a very large mound of highway construction gravel in order to gain better visibility to a full moon rising.) What have been the effects of this democratization? How has this affected our creating - some say "taking" - of photographs? What holds in store for the future? I'll be showing my images around these questions and seeking your answers at a program I'm giving at the Cowtown Camera Club tomorrow night (Thursday, May 11, 2017).
