He's a holographic doctor who takes over the role of the ship doctor. While the crew eventually finds a way to enable him to go to different areas of the ship, his being a hologram (at its core, a computer program) is a key aspect of his character that is very relevant in many episodes

He is a virtual hologram of an emergency medical program on board a space ship. He is a sentient AI in universe.

Are there any other Kirby fans on here who are also fans of Star Trek? I’ve met a couple of people on here who like both, but I’m trying to see if there’s anyone else.

I’m a big fan of Star Trek and I actually see a lot of parallels between Kirby and Star Trek (some examples of this are they both have mirror versions of the characters and the plot of Planet Robobot is just the plot of every Borg episode from Star Trek). I also like to include Star Trek references in my Kirby fanart (like making a reference to the Vulcan philosophy IDIC/Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations in my Meta Knight backstory comic) and I was wondering if anyone else in the fandom likes to do stuff like that in their art or writing. Where are all of the Kirby Trekkies at lmao 🖖

I want a reverse Star Trek, where instead of there being only one or two aliens on a crew full of humans, there's only one human on a crew full of aliens. And like, balls-to-wall weird aliens. Like one of them was bred for low-gravity asteroid mining, so he lives in a little hutch on the outside of the ship; one of them is just a cloud of birds with each individual bird being nonsentient, but they form a hivemind together with natural radiotransmitters in their brains; one of them is a liquid, but not the kind of liquid like Odo where it can take other shapes, so it just needs to be wheeled around everywhere in a tank, etc.
