Claudia Cardinale and Brigitte Bardot's double: and yes it's a man!
Tumblr media
Bardot talked about the movie she was filming with Claudia and said that she was afraid that Claudia would end up hitting her in the fight scene between them since she saw her stronger than her and decided that she would have a double in that scene where they had than pushing, falling and fighting in the dirt; specifically in this scene:

During my trip to Fotografiska in August, my absolute favorite exhibit was on the Stars exhibit on the 5th floor. This exhibit was a whole floor of legendary portraits of icons from Hollywood, music, fashion, politics, and sports. And these portraits were taken by British photographer Terry O'Neill, who I would say, after my experience, is my favorite photographer, and is a major influence in my interest in photography.
Tumblr media
This is my picture of the very first photo that caught my attention in the Stars exhibit, and which I would say is the most captivating shot in the whole floor and is widely regarded as O'Neill's best work, 'It was a picture in a million', O'Neill wrote. The story behind this photo is that O'Neill had been hired to take photo for the press on the set of the 1971 film Les Petroleuses. French actress Brigitte Bardot, the woman pictured, is the lead of this film. O'Neill never got close to her, as she didn't speak much English, but she gave off an extraordinary stature. Bardot held a cigarette as part of her scene. As the wind blew, she kept brushing her hair out of her eyes. The wind blew once more and O'Neill found his perfect composition, her trademark hair was in her eyes, her cigarette dangling from her lips. The shot was published worldwide in many major magazines.

The second photo that caught my attention was Faye Dunaway the morning after winning an Oscar for Best Actress at the Academy Awards in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, March 1977. It was the morning after Dunaway had been selected to win the Academy Away for Best Actress in Network. Dunaway and O'Neill had agreed to meet by the pool of the Beverly Hills Hotel where he'd bribed the pool boy for early access. She appeared, having had barely a minute of sleep. Faye sunk into her deskchair and beheld her award as it stood triumphantly on the table, the morning's papers, which bore the headlines of her victory scattered across her feet. O'Neill wanted to capture "that moment-the moment the actor wakes up and it dawns on them that, overnight, they've not only just become a star, but also a millionaire. This is that moment of realization".

David Bowie is one of my favorite 70's artists, I love his song Space Oddity, so finding him in this exhibit was a cool moment. O'Neill was photographing Bowie for the Diamond Dog album and his 1974 tour at the Universal Ampitheatre in Los Angeles. During this shoot, Bowie was sitting with an extremely large dog. A strobe light had gone off and the barking mad dog decided to jump at it. Bowie didn't react.

Miscellaneous Character Portraits, Pt 1
(I don’t know much about The Legend of Frenchie King AKA Les Petroleuses, but it doesn’t sound like the kind of movie I’d be interested in...)
