On A/B/O (Alpha/Beta/Omega) Dynamics —

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I know A/B/O is a controversial dynamic at best — and I have been debating for literal years whether that’s something I want to deal with the fallout for if I brought it to Tumblr. I spent years beta-reading for a very dear friend of mine who writes A/B/O while acknowledging fucked-up society and how toxic it can be. She handles the topics in a mature way, and with a lot of love and healing from trauma — and no hurt between the main characters. I found a lot of comfort and solace in her stories, and still do. That is how I endeavor to portray the verses I dabble in A/B/O in.

However, I respect the hell out of people’s squicks, triggers, and dislikes, so on that note I am giving you all the heads up that I will occasionally be writing A/B/O dynamics on my blog. I did put in my rules when I moved to this blog that I would not be shying away from most topics (save for the list in my rules) — and in failing to acknowledge that I enjoy writing this topic from time to time, I have not been true to myself and those guidelines and have put a lot of pressure/stress on myself on what is “acceptable” to write by the standards of the RPC — and I don’t think that’s fair. It’s a trope, it’s fiction, and thereby is not inherently 'gross' or 'problematic' and it has absolutely no bearing on real life.

I have read countless people talking about how this and other fictional tropes are “gross” — so, I fully expect to lose some followers. But, to be honest, I shouldn’t have to censor myself to keep to a purity standard that shouldn’t exist and would rather keep people around who enjoy my writing or who don't judge people for the fictional content they read or write. Again, it’s valid if it’s a personal trigger or squick. I understand, I have squicks and triggers too and curate my space as needed :). Going forward, I will be tagging all of my omegaverse content ‘omegaverse cw’. You are free to block the tag — or — if it’s a deal breaker, hard block me.

I don’t anticipate that A/B/O will become a common or main theme on my blog — just that it will be present here and there, from time to time, and tagged accordingly. Any lemons will be consensual. Wishing you all well, and joy in your writing.  ♡

Lexy Cross Progressively Dressing More Like Jake Wheeler

Episode 1:

Jake is wearing darker, more muted and grungy looking colors while Lexy is wearing a pretty standard Mean Girl outfit of light, bright whites and pinks that I feel might be not-so-obviously from the start not her personal style, but significantly influenced by her mother. They couldn't look more disconnected from each other if they tried to.

Jake is still wearing darker, muted colors and Lexy is a bright, sparkly rainbow wearing blue boots. He's dressing how he feels while Lexy's still putting on what feels like a costume for the public and for her mother.

Episode 2:

*gestures at Jake's dingy, dark colors and Lexy's bright rainbow* Jake's still dressed a bit like a storm cloud and Lexy's just getting brighter and pinker.

Episode 3:

Hey, Jake's clothes are getting lighter and a little colorful while Lexy's got all black on her bottom half. That's a refreshing change of pace. Lexy's also less bright and more pastel and soft now that her mother's not looking. (side note: I think it's hilarious and adorable that Lexy and Junior have exactly the same outfit in that scene.)

Jake's clothes getting lighter while Lexy's clothes get darker is just so interesting. Sure, it's gray, but it's a fairly light gray and Lexy's blue is dark.

Episode 5:

Ah, now Lexy's wearing a dark colored skirt and Jake's still wearing light gray. Also, we love a matchy denim jacket moment, tbh.

Hey, Lexi styled the pink jacket again! This time, it's darker and less girly, which is fascinating. She's slowly letting go of the pretty, perfect girl her mother wants her to be. This also marks the first time Jake wears something with pure white and light blue instead of black or grey and dark, muted blue. It's a big deal.

Jake adding more light and color to his wardrobe and Lexy dressing less princessy as they get to know each other is one of my favorite details in Chucky.

Episode 6:

Oh, now Lexy's just wearing the same muted colors Jake used to wear (and in the form of a baggy, oversized sweater!) while he's getting lighter. They just keep changing.

Episode 7:

They're both wearing flannels! Lexy's is just light and muted while Jake's is darker and more saturated.

Ah, we've arrived at The Black Floral Dress. I love this dress. It's like she wants to rebel and wear something dark, but she still relents and wears something flowery and presentable to the public for her mother's image.

Episode 8:

Oh, my god, they're matching! This is also soon after Lexi calls herself and Devon "the family Jake chose" and Jake didn't deny feeling the same way about them. This is the most connected and cohesive we've seen them dress thus far.

And Lexi is regrettably back to dressing the way her mother would like her to: A picture perfect princess to match her younger sister and her shrewd, fake nice mother.

We have reached the final outfits! Away from her mother, Lexi chooses to grieve her boyfriend in a black leather jacket (something I can confidently say her mother would never approve of), a burgundy shirt and plaid pants. Jake's once again wearing his light grey denim jacket with a blue shirt. They can't tell you whether they've changed for the better, but one thing is for sure; both of them have changed for good.
